So far I have been to Lube Xpress & Smogs a couple of times and the service has been great each time. There are usually 2 lines, one for smog and one for oil change. Most recently, I came here for an oil change and luckily, there was only one person in front of me in line. The first time I came, the line was super long and it was about an hour wait. They have a waiting room inside with outlets and a tv incase you want to wait inside. The oil change was really quick. Each time, they offered to replace a filter - the first time for air and the second for the engine. Everyone that worked there was friendly and provided good customer service. I come down from Rancho Cordova to have both of my vehicles done here. Everybody is friendly, the shop is clean, and the services are reliable and quick. I try to get there when they open at 9 AM, and even then, there may be a couple of vehicles in line ahead of me, because this place is popular. Even if you are in a line, though, they get you through very quick. *BUT..... quick service does not mean Shoddy service. They do it quick, and they do it right. They often run a Groupon, which will bring the price down a little bit, but even without the Groupon, the price is very reasonable for the service that you get. I have never had any problems whatsoever redeeming a Groupon. The only thing I have to pay for with the Groupon, is the oil disposal fee, which is just a couple of bucks. This place was easy, efficient and friendly. Getting a smog check is just one of those things you need to get out of the way, so at the very least my time here was pleasant. I stopped by shortly after they - there were already half a dozen cars waiting for service. However they were quick to come out and greet me and guide me where to park my car. I was given an estimate within 5 minutes and waited behind the shop on some benches provided. I was in and out in 15 minutes, and while you cannot expect that every time (I have seen lines of cars) they have the equipment and staff to handle lots of customers on a busy weekend. This is a no nonsense, quick stop, and the team members truly impressed me with their knowledge and friendliness. Cost is the average going rate, but they sometimes have online coupons which makes it a good deal. You make an appointment or stop by. read more

It's okay. I like the idea of how rapid they can get your oil change and they do a good job at it. The issue that I have is that they charged me for a fully synthetic oil change but only gave me the synthetic oil change. I asked and they told me they did, but my car odometer stated it wasn't fully synthetic. I went to another shop when my oil was low again, ask for a fully synthetic, and then my car was stating it was fully synthetic. I went into LXS based on a referral to get a smog done. A small location, but extremely efficient and well thought out process. The employees were quick to greet and guide me through the starting point; I was steered toward the waiting area, which was comfortable, clean, and had a movie playing. My smog was completed with no hitch. When I went to leave, my jeep would not start, so they quickly checked the battery for a charge. It was fully charged, so something else was amiss. Two of the employees did a visual inspection, and in no time found the problem. It was a frayed cable coming out of my battery that had nothing to do with the smog check just completed. Just a chance occurrence. Employees immediately fixed the problem at no charge, and I was on my way. This is my new favorite smog place and oil change place as well. I am not an easy customer to please or impress, nor have I ever written a yelp review, but after the outstanding experience at LXS, I felt it was the least I could do. Five stars all day long!! We came in for a smog certification and oil change. LXS is a California approved STAR smog station. They met us outside and had us wait inside while the service was performed. The smog certification was quick. The oil change included 5 quarts of synthetic oil and filter. They checked fluid levels and tire pressure. I had purchased a Groupon for the both services. Recently, I had to get a new (to me) car because my trusty CRV was stolen. Since my mechanic was in East sac I mistakenly got a smog out in that area where I was failed due to "visual inspection". Came here immediately after to explain to them what happened and asked for help. Whole crew was so quick to figure it out just to learn the folks in E Sac were careless and gave me a false failure. This has to have been the fastest oil change I've ever had in my life!!!! I honestly thought they did nothing... because it was that fast! I think it took them like 10 minutes or so. The staff is super friendly!!! No joke! I would definitely say check Groupon before coming here. You'll get a great deal. They use Quaker oil, and I wasn't even sure if that was good oil or not!? I googled it and looked for the reviews. They all said it's good oil. I paid less at Walmart, but I dealt with nothing but nightmares there!!! It was one issue after another. Brought my wife's Honda Fit here for an oil change. This place has an amazing culture. The employees were all happy and smiling. They greeted me quickly, and even though they were very busy I was in and out quickly. The manager Rob communicated with me about what my car needed in a way I was actually able to understand and I didn't feel pressured to get anything that my car didn't actually need! On top of that I witnessed another customer have an issue with a Groupon coupon and the manager Rob was able to work with the customer quickly to get the issue resolved. It was an amazing display of putting the customer's needs first. This is one of the most professional places I have ever brought a car to. One of the very first things they can improve on is their customer service! The girls inside have an attitude. Some of the technicians need more training on the little socialization and interaction they have with customers. So I wanted to get a oil change and a smog. The girls told me once I get the oil change I would have to stand back in line to get a smog done.. the following day I come for a retest on the smog, they take your car after being done and or change and put it first in line in front of all the other cars. When I ask them, they had no response. When I got my oil change, I had purchased a Groupon promotion. The Groupon is a shitty deal I would not recommend it for anybody. You save $10 however you give it back to them for oil discard fee plus taxes. It comes out to the same value that they are charging you. When I got final bill, I recognized they stated they checked a bunch of line items. I was looking at the service people throughout the entire process. Unfortunately they did not check any of the items. The only thing they did check was the oil levels after the service. So, Although its a computer generated receipt, the integrity of this business is a fail. The smog guy over the weekends was nice. He knew how to speak to his customers. The experience was okay. Office was always clean. One technician needs to think before he speaks. His incompetence was very evident that he may have not may not know his shit. For a moment, I was very concerned with his comments. I feel that the California Auto Mobiles Association will be a place to have them follow up because no Matter how fast you are zipping cars in and out, mistakes can be made by rushing. read more

Time for a smog check at a STAR station. I was shopping around for the best prices online and happened to find a Groupon deal at this location so I purchased one (also told my baby sister who also is on the same smog schedule as me). A few things to know before you go: read the fine print if you're using a Groupon since there are certain days it can't be used, additional fees for the certificate, etc., the parking lot seems pretty small (although there may be more parking in the back that I didn't see), and they charge extra for credit cards so bring enough cash if you want to avoid that. The entrance to the front desk is actually located at the back of the building, and even thought it's small, there was enough space for 3 customers at one time to feel comfortable. The desk has a plexiglass partition and the staff was courteous and masked. I was there on a Friday morning with only one person in front of me, and it didn't take longer than 30-45 minutes to get my smog done. After the Groupon and additional fees, the smog check came out to around $30. Great deal! They have additional services but unfortunately they don't do transmission fluid changes if you want to provide your own transmission fluid. read more

BE AWARE of what oil they put into your car!! They put in 5/30 oil into my car and I needed 5w40. Totally messed up my oil pressure and I needed to take into a "real" mechanic. I went back to tell them that they put the wrong oil in and they dismissed me and said my "real" mechanic was wrong, not them, without ever looking at what I had done to my car. Totally unprofessional. I used to ba a loyal customer-bringing in all my cars for Smog and oil-but never again, and I am posting on my Instagram and Facebook. You get what your pay for. read more

Been here for smog check couple years ago, so bought Groupons for two upcoming checks. Took car in and within a short time, Thomas, the tech, asked us in a somewhat accusatory tone, "did you do something or someone try to connect something to the computer port? We said no. He said again are you sure no one tried to connect something? We asked, what are you talking about? He said he tried a couple times and couldn't connect the reader to it for the smog check. We didn't know why. He said you probably have a short and need to go get it diagnosed and fixed before he could go further. (Our cars are regularly maintained and we didn't notice any issues prior to this.). We had it checked at the dealers (costing a pretty penny), they found no issue. Took the car back, another tech did the smog check without issue and passed it. Due to the hassles, we asked for waiver of the $8 cert fee. No, couldn't do it. We finished and left. It didn't sit well that the first tech didn't do something properly or had equipment issues, sent us on a wild goose chase, wasted our time, caused us a hassle with only one vehicle and spent unnecessary money (especially during the holidays!). We returned to speak with a manager, Chaz, who listened and understood our situation immediately. He remedied the issue and apologized for the hassles. We appreciated his resolution. Since we still had a second vehicle to smog, we had it done on the spot. Had the issue not been resolved, we would not have used them again. We're satisfied that it ended well. At first I was pleased. Pulled up and there was a line that moved quickly and their price for a full synthetic change was great ($77 bucks at the time of my service - $30 less than the last full synthetic change I had!) service went smoothly, the people working there were really friendly and professional - zero hassle. Got up this morning and found an oil spot on my driveway. Great. Crawled under my car and saw that oil was slowly dripping from the oil pan plug. I reached in to wipe oil from the plug to get a sense of how quickly it was leaking and to my surprise I was able to turn the oil plug with my finger tips - it had barely been tightened at all. Grabbed my ratchet set, tightened it up, solved the issue. Being quick is great. Being really competitively priced is great. Being friendly and professional is great. Having to crawl under my car in my driveway to finish a service I paid for is not great. Having to clean oil stains off my driveway from a bunch of the synthetic oil I just paid for yesterday is also not great. +2 stars for the employees and partial job they did. -3 stars for having to finish the job myself and the mess. read more

Went here to get a smog check. The location is easily accessible. The ladies that work there are very pleasant. The techs and mechanics work hard and take care of your vehicle. They are also very personable. They have a nice waiting area. Their pricing is clearly listed and presented to you for a signature before they start any work on your car.
