Came on a Sunday night. Was somewhat busy so there was a 5-10 minute wait. Had a larger table about 7 people. Ate Chinese BBQ, noodles, seafood hot pot, and other items. The duck was good, not too fatty and the Cha Sui was ok. A little not soft enough. Customer service was average, we didn't order right away so it took a bit longer to get our order in. Floor was rather dirty with water and trash, but the waitress gave us a towel that she tossed on the floor to wipe the water. It was so busy that I doubt customer service would be high on priority. No dine-in during the pandemic, but luckily takeout was an option. We made the order at the restaurant and waited for about 15 minutes until pick up was ready. We ordered combination pan fried noodles, salt and pepper fish, and honey walnut shrimp. All were good and pretty standard. I think a highlight of this spot is the pricing, which is very reasonable. Other dishes I hope to try are the hot pot fish with fried tofu, eggplant, and black bean clams, which were all recommended to me for next time. I have been coming here frequently with my family because it's good food for a great price. I've never had to wait for a table even on their busiest days and they are packed. We typically get one of their specials: pick 4 dishes plus soup for I think $35 (may be wrong about the exact price but it's definitely less than $40). We typically get the green beans with pork, spicy pork chops, beef flat noodles, fish fillet with tofu hotpot and the sweet corn soup. These are fairly large portions so we always have leftovers to take home. The sweet corn soup is delicious! It's like egg drop soup but with corn in it. Their beef flat noodles are also really good! I ordered takeout for 8 people and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. when I got there I was told a few more minutes. 30 minutes later I still was waiting and the food containers were sitting on a table ready to be bagged, getting cold. The wait staff kept walking by it doing nothing serving the not full restaurant and a couple of other takeout orders. Of course they already had requested payment. when they finally handed me the bags to go, it had been well over an hour since I called it in which would have been fine if that's what they had initially told me. To make matters worse, when I got home I found they had gotten part of the order wrong, it all was cold and everything had to be reheated which did nothing to improve the taste. Everything tasted fine, but it came out lukewarm and was cold halfway through the meal. In addition, all 5 pieces of duck that I got were basically inedible - all bone, fat, and gristle. I think I got about 1 decent mouthful of duck meat out of the whole meal. The BBQ pork and the *skin* of the duck tasted good, but that wasn't even remotely enough to make up for the other problems. My family's favorite Chinese restaurant in the DFW area. We are regulars here and have become friends with the owners and wait staff! They have a wide selection of items on their menu; every Chinese dish you can think of they probably have it. The prices are decent for the amount and quality of food you get! We always end up with leftovers without breaking the bank. First Chinese BBQ is comparable but more expensive with smaller portion sizes. Once you are seated you'll receive a complementary pickled vegetables to snack on while they prepare your order. One of my favorite orders is the salt and pepper fried tofu! Straight out of the fryer the tofu is super crispy and flavorful without being too oily and the tofu itself is soft and silky. Be careful though because it can burn your tongue if you dig in too soon! I also enjoy their roasted duck and pig. Good flavor and crisp skin yumm. My mom's favorite is their orange chicken. This is not the same orange chicken that the Chinese fast food restaurants sell. It is not fried crispy and there is not heavy amounts of breading. Instead it is made of huge chunks of chicken very lightly fried and coated in a sweet tangy sauce! We've tried many dishes here and I can't think of one that I did not enjoy. The most authentic Cantonese food you can get in Plano. Also, the most authentic Chinese service and ambiance you can get. We came on Father's Day at 6:30pm for dinner, and the place was PACKED. All around us were people talking loudly in Chinese. The wait consists of standing around the front door (they should really stick some chairs up there) and seeing if any tables were finally cleared. We waited only 10 minutes. My family ordered what we normally get: the roast duck and Chinese BBQ combo, orange chicken, salt and pepper fried seafood, and walnut shrimp. The dishes came out one by one rather than all at once. I like that Lucky City's dishes are consistently good (you know what you're going to get) and well-priced. Additionally, the restaurant gives complimentary pickled cabbages at the beginning and taro tapioca dessert (only at dinner time) at the end of your meal. What a deal. It's been difficult for me to find a good chinese restaurant that I liked since I've moved to Dallas. Lucky City has become my go to now. The beef flat noodles are my FAVE. Perfectly greasy and great flavor. They come w/ bean sprouts but I request them to take them off and it's never been an issue. Any of the chinese bbq meats like roasted pork and marinated duck are good. My hubby always gets the roasted pork, marinated duck & chicken with rice. This combination is not on the menu but they'll gladly make it for you. If you come with a big group they have reasonable family meals starting off less than $30 and you can so much food! We ordered the special for 2 and it came with choice of soup and 3 dishes... we seriously needed at least two more people to finish our food. The only dish I did not like was the salt and pepper calamari. The calamari was rubbery, it was greasy and breading was falling apart. Service for the most part is good. They have bigger packages for 8 to 10 people too but you don't have a choice in the dishes though - it's a set menu. +1 for decent taste. Love the spicy pork chops, which aren't actually spicy unless you eat the jalapeños. Love the fish and tofu hotpot - fish is always soft and huge plus that the whole dish is hot throughout the meal because of the burner. Beef flat noodles - yes! So simple but so good! Things I could do without - west lake soup and pickled veg before the meal. Soup tends to have too much cornstarch. Pickled veg tends to be too sweet for me and not always the freshest cabbage used. +1 for service. Nice waitstaff. With such a busy place they are still quick to get you any additional requested items. They are thoughtful in terms of knowing how to package different types of leftovers (separating fried from saucey dishes) which I appreciate! -1 tight quarters. It's a small space. So as busy as this place can get, sometimes when other patrons or waiters are moving around the restaurant they can tend to knock into your chair or table since they are so close to you. We have ordered from them for years and been very happy. But they have not responded to Covid very well. They do take out only and the service is VERY slow. If you call it in and they tell you 45 minutes, beware- that means they are busy and it will probably be an hour and a half or longer. They haven't figured out to get more staff or at least understand how long an order takes and give you an accurate time frame. I have sat outside waiting for my food to be ready 3-4 times in in the last 6 months. It's very frustrating cause the food is good and they are really cool people- but the service level has dwindled a LOT in the last year. Every time we order the roast pork , the skin is never crispy and seem to be days old. The only dish we like here is the Fish and Tofu hot pot, however they are not consistent as sometimes it has black mushroom which I like but sometimes it's missing. This place isn't really a 4 - probably a 3.5. Needed a place to eat at on the way back to Oklahoma and this place wasn't too far off from the highway. We got an order of eggplant (not spicy) and BBQ pork and duck. Everything was flavored really well. You could really taste the sweet coating on the BBQ pork (in a good way). Only complaint was that we got the lower quarter of the duck, so there was basically no meat. You also get a complimentary plate of pickled cabbage (good, but ours had a hair in it) and the traditional tapioca dessert. The place was packed with Chinese people, so you know this place is legit. Look out First Chinese BBQ, you have some competition. Met up with my Yelp buddy here, and was very impressed with the food. We ordered BBQ Pork, chicken flat noodle, and waitress also brought us out a bowl of corn soup for no charge. Each entrée was delicious and in typical Chinese BBQ fasion, plentiful. The pork had lots of flavor and was drizzled in honey. The flat noodles had the appropriate texture, and you could tell it was fresh. Nothing fancy about this place, but they keep it simple, and do it right. The service here was good and the value cannot be beat. The portions are large and the price is better than a lot of the new Chinese restaurants in Plano. I would recommend getting the dinner 3 or 4 entree deal. The roasted pork is crispy and delicious but very salty. The egg and shrimp is fluffy and seasoned appropriately. The beef flat noodle is very standard, not amazing but not terrible. The fish chicken fried rice is not very salty but still satisfying. The minced beef soup was good but it was missing cilantro. I don't recommend the pork bamboo shoots as it was very dry. At $28 plus tax, it was a good value for lunch - particularly when we discovered Lucky City's food is served family-style. And unless you have a ravenous family, the meal for three will feed you for lunch today and your family for dinner tonight. We had a difficult time deciding on our three entrees out of the 21 delicious options. We avoided familiar Chinese dishes (such as orange chicken) in favor of items we might not regularly order. We settled on a starter of sweet corn chicken soup, followed by beef flat noodle, B.B.Q. pork and marinated chicken, and fried chicken (also called Cantonese Chicken elsewhere). While we waited on our main dishes to arrive, a plate of lightly pickled cabbage arrived along with a steamer full of rice. The slight tartness of the crispy cabbage paired nicely with the rice and took the edge off our appetites. The soup arrived in a tureen.Our main dishes arrived on platter after platter - make sure you don't sit at too small of a table! The beef flat noodles included (you guessed it!) wide flat noodles and slices of tender beef, along with bean sprouts and green onions.The B.B.Q. pork and marinated chicken arrived already sliced and in separate piles. The pork was amazing! With a slightly sweet flavor, the meat was tender but not-fatty. The marinated chicken was similarly tasty. A hint of what we guessed was Chinese 5-spice in the marinade creates a delightful mix of fragrant, savory and sweet. The perfect place to come with a group for a relatively authentic Chinese family style meal. They have four (at least, my memory is failing even though it was last night) large 10-seat round table with glass turntables in the middle. Menu includes a 3-dish set, 4-dish set, 8-person set, and 10-person set all at very reasonable pricing. The 3- and 4-dish sets are chosen from a list of menu options. The 8- and 10-person sets already have a list of included dishes and it's hard to substitute menu items. But ask anyway, they might let you. I'd suggest coming with at least one Chinese friend who's had the experience! But if you're just dining in a smaller group or with a few people, this is just like any other restaurant. It kind of bothered me that the dishes didn't specifically include all major ingredients so some were surprising... like my pork dish being swallowed up with celery. Didn't see that one coming. Lucky City is just ok for me. We ordered a few dishes and they weren't anything spectacular. The roasted duck that they proudly display in the restaurant wasn't anything special. Matter of fact, the duck that I ordered was cold and the portion size was lacking especially with the price that they charge. The other dishes that I ordered was the kong pao chicken (3/5), sweet and sour fish (3/5), and deep fried squid (4/5). These dishes were around 10$ which I thought was disappointing in flavor. I decided to try this place close to my house. I ordered crispy shrimp(it's salt and pepper shrimp with green onions, jalapeños, garlic and some ginger. Very aromatic and savory). It came with 11 shrimps lightly toasted/fried and I really liked and it was delicious(rice comes with it). In my opinion, it's very authentic evidenced by the customers that were there dining(it was still early when I was there). I would definitely return here in the very near future to try their other dishes. The only thing is they have cans of sodas and no fountain drinks for those of you like drinking sodas. read more

My family made a reservation here for 13 people...but it took us about 45 minutes to get our first dish after we ordered. that's just way too long considering the restaurant wasn't even busy. they brought every dish one at a time too, so it was just awkward eating one dish at a time, finishing it, and then getting another. The food is mediocre. The vegetable dishes were decent, but the meat dishes were very Americanized and hard to chew (especially the BBQ meat). I definitely wouldn't come back here again. Lucky City is a great place to go when you're craving authentic Chinese food but not craving that heavy feeling that comes from overly oily, salty, MSG-upped food. We ordered four dishes plus a soup for around $32 and portions were very generous. The tofu and salted fish hot pot was good, although the pungent salted fish taste is not for everyone! It almost reminded me of stinky tofu, but less disgusting. I really enjoyed the salt and pepper fried pork chops, as well as the tender Chinese broccoli with beef. Their BBQ pork is pretty good, although less caramelized and crispy than other places. We ordered everything with less oil, and it did come out that way. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and relatively crowded at even around 8:30 PM at night. Service is typical of most Chinese restaurants, but we were familiar with the waitress serving us. The waitstaff seemed pretty unorganized, but since it is relatively new so they're probably just working out the kinks. The food we got was just ok. We got the dungeoness crab fried rice as well other common Cantonese dishes and they came out average. I would definitely recommend going to JS Chen down the street instead. My favorite place to get food especially late night because of how casual and affordable it is. What you get for the price is great value and the food is authentic. It is crowded and table space is small so if you get claustrophobic may not be a good spot or if you are uncomfortable being in a restaurant with mostly all asians speaking another language. If that is the case I'd order takeout. Great for vegetarians as well as we had two with us that ordered vegetable dishes and hotpot. This place is a hidden gem and deserves much more attention than it may currently have. My Asian family and relatives are regular customers here- they seriously will not go anywhere else unless they are looking for dim sum. We live in Coppell/Lewisville area so are more than willing to make the far drive just to have some AMAZING Chinese food and wait for it....surprisingly cheap for the quantity food. We constantly have leftovers to take back home. The food is as close to authentic as you can get around here! Customer service is always top notch- extremely friendly staff.
