Racist ! I got put our for being black while being in their place of business. I was there with three white people and was told I had to leave after being there for a while for at least a hour with three white people. I asked to speak with a manager and they told me a manger would not be available to speak with until the next business day(Saturday meaning a manager wouldnt be available until Monday). All of which my white friends witnessed and will not be returning. Please keep this place out of business since they are opposed to people of color !!! read more

So far the only bar/night life I have enjoyed since moving to the Virginia Beach Area. There was a dance floor and plenty of people dancing and an outdoor area that was fairly chill. This bar had something to offer to anyone looking for a fun night. Parking is somewhat expensive. read more

The prices are reasonable, but there are better choices. The wait staff is very inexperienced and the food is just ok. Unless you a drinking a frozen cocktail the bar staff has no idea what their doing nor do the have the mixes to make standard drinks. Love this place! But do have a few things I hope they change. First off this is hands down my favorite bar/club to go to both during the busy season and not so busy time of the year. They have a bar literally anywhere you plan to go into/outside the club, there's 2 bars downstairs inside the club and 1 bar where the DJ and dance floor is at and each 1 bar on both levels of the outside deck! So no matter where you go you have a bar and drinks at an arms reach. The music is always good and the Energy is always hype! They have corn hole outside in a large sandpit which is always fun and convenient (if you can find a open cornhole board) and they have a 2 story outside deck with plenty of seating. The drinks are priced the same as anywhere else but the service is fast. The only negative things I could ever say about this place is that the security is a little to uptight and rude and pushy at times it's almost like they are just waiting for reason to confront somebody for something. Another thing is the $5 cover charge for guys to get in, to me it's a bad business move, I get you wanna make money and all but to charge me $5 (cash only by the way) is a little ridiculous and very unconvenient seeings how most people don't like to carry cash on them these days, at least if you HAVE to charge me to come spend money at your business at least accept cards instead of people loseing their place in line to go find a ATM and then get charged the ATM service fee. But honestly it's best to just do away with the cover charge completely because im literally coming here to spend money, I shouldn't have to spend money just to come in and spend more money. One more thing is the dress code...the fact that you guys even have a dress code is kind of ridiculous to me seeings how people are literally in there in board shorts and tank tops (as they should be because it's the beach!!) a surfer style club/bar like this shouldn't even have the right to be able to inforce a dress code at all! But apparently joggers are a serious no go here, makes no sense to me to be turned down and for you to lose money/business because of joggers Lol. Other then those few things that rub me the wrong way, I love this place and I love what you guys are doing! The theme,the style and atmosphere is awesome. Food is pretty good as well. It started off weird when they told us our party of 5 HAD to be on one check so they could charge us automatic gratuity (what??). Then our drinks took forever. Then our waitress visited our table after we were completely finished eating everything three times before finally bringing us our check. I came here with my friends tonight. The bartender was really nice. His name is Josh. We got our food and there was a black piece of hair in my ranch. I told the server and she took it. As I continued to eat, I noticed on one of my fries there was a blonde piece of hair. I decided to not finish my food and she took my food. The manager came out, he was so rude and he got very defensive immediately . He was the bald, short, elderly man. I asked him how we could fix this situation. He came back, threw the receipt and said it is what it is. I told him I was not paying for the fries nor was I giving the server a tip because she lied and told him that I finished my food when I did not finish eating. He was so rude and I defended myself and he threatened to call the police and I was not aggressive with him. I will NEVER go to that place again. We took our friends there and that was their first time going and they said it was absolutely terrible and they will never come back. I am a server myself and I know how customer service works. This is a great place for corn hole, dancing, and talking with friends. The drinks are fairly pricy, but worth it. We got double Orange Crushes ($15) which is the go-to Virginia Beach drink. It was made with a fresh orange, which made it very tasty. 10/10, would recommend getting drunk here. read more

It was a joke. We originally wanted to go to the restaurant called Repel but it was a 45 minute wait. Luna Sea had no one so we gave the a shot. No brainier, right? Wrong! 1 hour later our food comes out. Food was completely cold. I am shocked they are in business. To top it off the waitress gives us the wrong check. I was half tempted to pay that one and walk out but I have morals. Note to owner, you had 5 people standing and looking around. You may want them to work. read more

I have never had a bad experience here in the past 4 years I've been going here. The service is amazing. Dan Smith makes it look easy the way he can serve up a bar packed 5-7 people back. Friday and Saturday nights are obviously the go to here but they even have weekday specials with live music that make you want to live there Monday-Sunday. Brunch? Don't even get me started. Killer Buy one get one half off, every item on the menu is delicious and add in mimosas and bloody Mary's...it turns into a Sunday funday instantly with the live music. If you go to the oceanfront and you don't experience Lunasea....you messed up. read more

Went to Lunasea on Sun June 4 for the patriotic festival and because they advertised on fb they Bogo brunch til 3 got there at 2 and was told they stopped brunch early because they were short staffed which I still don't understand but anyway felt like they did a bait and switch ended up getting a burger which said it was a basket but it was only the burger for 8$ and fries were 4$ more ...I live at 24th st and have been there before but not to eat the food was just average don't think I will go back was very dissapointed.... read more

Never thought I'd need a Yelp account until Luna Sea ripped me off. Before I get into the chain of events that lead me to never want to step into this establishment ever again, I advise you NOT TO OPEN A TAB here, and keep a copy of your receipt. If you're smart, just pay cash, but make sure you count your change. I went to Luna Sea for the first time for my friend's birthday on Memorial Day weekend. It was packed, and smelled like someone had recently vomited all over the upstairs deck. We decided to stick it out since we waited in line to even get in the place. I ordered a drink for myself, and one for my friend in order to reach the $10 minimum for credit card transactions. I left my tab open for about 30 mins, before deciding it was too packed to hang around. I closed my tab, and signed my receipt after she returned my card. A couple days later, I check my bank account see a $100.00 charge from Luna Sea. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I decide to give it a couple days to see if it would clear as the correct amount. After a week, I realized they actually charged me $100.00. Of course I could not find my copy of the receipt. I figured it would be best to just go down to Luna Sea, since I had to go down to the oceanfront anyways. Heres where it gets good. I go back with my boss (it has now been a week and a half since my last visit), and I immediately ask the hostess to see the manager. She grimaces and leads me to the guy behind the bar. I tell him what happened, and you can tell he's familiar with this kind of thing. He ask if I have a receipt, because the owner is going to ask to see it when she comes out to talk to me. I explain that I don't, but since it's 2016 I know he can pull up my receipt in the POS system. Fun fact: I am a tax accountant, and prepare tax returns for restaurants every year. I am familiar with what these systems track, because you never know when the IRS is coming around for an audit. Anyways, the manager goes back to talk to the owner. As we are patiently waiting, the only other patron at the bar (who overheard the whole encounter) confirms that Colleen (the owner) can easily pull up the information in the system, and correct the situation. Obviously, the joke was on us, because the manager comes back stoned faced, and tells me that the owner is on a conference call, and I have to call the bank to report a fraudulent charge. I told him I would wait until she was done with her conference call, and he basically said she was never going to be done with her conference call and she would not speak to me. It's pretty upsetting knowing the owner of a local establishment is sitting in her office behind the bar refusing to talk to a disgruntled customer. So at this point, my boss chimes in and asks for the owner's business card, and of course she doesn't have one. So she ask her name, and he REFUSES to tell us her name. The guy sitting at the bar said "Dude, her name is right there on the ABC license. Colleen Cunningham." The manager then goes on to tell us he will have us escorted out (by one of his 3 security guards at 7:00 PM on a Wednesday), if we will not leave. Since we are both petite women under 5'6" this was not a necessary course of action. Completely appalled by such a threat, I just walk out with tears in my eyes. My boss is a little more feisty, so she asked for a pen to write down the owner's name. The manager REFUSED TO GIVE US A PEN. I have never been so mistreated in my life. Even the lone patron at the bar asked for his tab and told the manager he was being an jerk. It is astonishing that a business owner chooses to have charges reported as fraudulent, and not even give upset customers the time of day. Of course, I called Bank of America this morning and even the customer service guy was shocked that they told me to report it as fraudulent. Because it was not fraudulent, but a merchant dispute. He actually gave me the grand idea of a lovely yelp review. He also could see where they charged my card $10.00, then the new amount (which is usually after gratuity is added) of $100.00. Sorry, but 25% is my limit on a tip, which I believe would come out to $12.50 max. At this point it's about the principle of the situation, even if I never get my money back the world will know how Luna Sea treats their customers. Cheers! read more

Talk about HELL!!!! We went there and got a seat immediately, the host or Mgr who knows got us water. Then after a twenty minute of no one coming to help us we went to the bar to order. KEEP IN MIND OUR WAITER KEPT WALKING BY U.S. When we got to the bar the bartender greeted us and got our drinks, then after that she ignore us for another ten minutes . We were still trying to order food. HERES THE KICKER -- we were waiting and this other bartender broke a glass on me and cut my arm ... SERIOUSLY!!!! He apologizes briefly and said he will make me another..... No manager no one else came to see if I was ok:( My husband and I got up and left , no one stopped us to say sorry or are you ok! This place ROCKS! My friends and I took a trip to VA Beach for the weekend...and on our last night there (June 10th), we found this place. If we would've found it sooner, we would've been there every night! The atmosphere is SO relaxed, everyone was SO friendly...love all the different levels and the open sand pit in the middle. One of my friends fell in the love with the middle sand pit, danced there all night, and we could barely get her to leave. Haha :) There was a bartender on the first level right when you come in that was awesome. The drinks were great and incredibly reasonably priced. My only complaint is the bathrooms. The girl's bathroom was in rough shape...but since it was a super busy night and there were several girls in there trashing the place, I can't fault the staff for this. Especially because they were super nice and apologetic about it when told about it. If they could add more bathrooms, this place would be even more amazing. Anyways, 5 stars!!! Emily was working so hard in the rain moving heavy tables sweeping the patio, wiping down the fence rails. My boyfriend, friends and myself ended going here to enjoy their nightlife/club. It obviously was a very popular place because the line was around the corner. We stayed in line for a mere 25/30 mins and mind you this is during the summer when it's HOT outside. There was other men wearing shorts and were allowed to get in. Finally after waiting, which seemed like forever, it was our turn to finally get our IDs he led and to get in. My boyfriend was last to get checked with our group and was told he couldn't because of "shorts"? But they let plenty of people (men) in beforehand wearing shorts. So unfortunately our group had to split up and we just went our own separate ways. Just the mere dissatisfaction we had for standing and line and being turned around for short during the summer was ridiculous. I feel like they picked and chose who they were letting in and who they wasn't and my boyfriend was obviously on the "not" list. The AC upstairs is always broken in the summertime, last time i went I couldn't find a bathroom stall that locked, and it just collects the overflow from the block. I have to admit, that I was honestly a bit skeptical about going to LunaSea. Being that it was on the oceanfront, and a bit sketchy by the looks of it on the outside, I was not sure my gal pal made such a great choice for her Bachelorette Party. However, i was quite wrong. Dinner here was absolutely fantastic!! I enjoyed delicious fish tacos- prepared heavenly and healthy (a gluten free option for those with food sensitivity) as well as filling. We ordered their signature cocktail (a delicious blend of pineapple juice, oj, and spirits). The food was so amazing and the staff was super friendly to everyone at the table. Considering we had a party of about 12 girls, it was not an easy party to get all ordered completed- but our waiter did not make any mistakes and all the girls got their food on time/warm. After eating, our group decided to head upstairs for dancing and additional drinks. We enjoyed the outdoor patio area as well as the dance floor inside. Additional party goers enjoyed the stripper poles and various booths around the upstairs bar. We eventually left to head to another bar but realized that LunaSea was a better location to stay at and so we returned. Once we got them, she grabbed us some waters and didn't come back for about fifteen minutes. As we were waiting, there were two tables behind us that asked for their receipts and we're getting fed up because they apparently waited a long time for things, as well.
