This is hands down my very favorite Mexican restaurant. Ever! I've been coming to Lupes for years - my favorite location being the original house on Stanford, but I've found all the new locations are equally amazing! I always get the same thing because - well it's so darn good I can't stray!!! I always order the pound of beef fajitas (because I'm usually with friends and we share) with mixed order of tortillas (flour and corn) guacamole, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes- omg I'm almost drooling writing this. Soooooo good! The dot margarita is also a must! And the large are fun to share as well. The staff is perfectly attentive and I loved how the manager came by and made sure we were all set as well. A perfect amount of customer interaction to make a group of crazy gals feel special :) I live out of state now, but make Lupe Tortillas a stop for lunch or dinner every time I'm back in town. read more

This Lupe Tortilla has such great service. We had the most attentive waiter and our drinks were always filled/full! :) The fajitas are so good at Lupe Tortilla. If you like the thin tortillas you will really like their fajitas. If you do not like think flour torillas, they have corn tortillas that are not on the menu. These things are so good and fluffy- just ask for them! Happy hour is M-F starting at 3pm. I think it ends around 6pm. read more

Been coming to Lupe's since they were originally. LOVE the food and normally service is 2nd to none. Tonight with ABear it was off. Can't tell if it was us or him however either way just wasn't the same friendly service. Spoke to the manager since he visited our table and he took a genuine interest in hearing me out. Always a Lupe's fan. FYI don't like the new rule that the original salsa cost additional.25 cents per cup. Think your trying to discourage everyone from using however it's my favorite and my personal recommendation is included it with the $42.95 Fajitas. Update 5-13-19: Just received a call from the GM, I believe his name was Han & apologize if I have it incorrect, however truly respect the follow up & open discussion. I seem to come to this location more than others, even though it's not my favorite one. I sit inside mostly, but they have a nice patio for outdoor seating. The interior is a typical Lupe designed layout with many different dining areas/rooms, making it feel more home-like. There is usually a wait on busy nights, like Friday and Saturday, but you can always go to the bar and grab a drink and come back to sit out by the fountain while you wait on one of the wooden lounge chairs. On a recent visit, they were promoting their crab entrees and watermelon margaritas, so I tried the margarita, to go along with my beef fajitas. I've always loved the chips and salsa (and beans) they bring out while waiting on your entree to arrive at the table. Fajitas are consistently good, and are heavily tenderized. Used to be my favorite fajitas in houston several years ago. These are usually cooked medium, and you will rarely see any pink or red in your meat, like at Sitos. I also sampled their crab enchiladas and didn't like them whatsoever since they taste like canned crab. Can't really recommend them. Margarita was good though. read more

This was our first visit to Lupe Tortilla and we were very impressed with the service and the food. I meant to take a picture of our food but we ate it so fast that we totally forgot about taking a picture until we were in the car on the way home. But I digress. The food is fresh, tasty, and presented well. Let's be honest, the food was Awesome. The service was excellent. We had a nice relaxing meal and the food was eaten before we knew it happened. We came away in a food coma stupor. Which usually means the food was delicious. My husband had the fajitas and he said that they were the best he has ever had. The meat was fresh and seasoned just how he likes it. I had the enchiladas. My husband remarked on the size of the flour tortillas. He loved it. By far one of our favorite places to eat since moving to Texas. We initially found when we came down to house hunt. Everything we have gotten is top notch. The chicken tortilla soup is fantastic and the size is unbelievable amount. We usually have to share. Delicious margaritas. Chips and charro bean salsa is addicting. We even ended up here for breakfast after having a miserable experience at another breakfast eatery. All i can say is delicious! Pick up service is awful. I'd already called in the order and was just there to pick it up and pay. Waited for 5 minutes at the "To Go" station with no one helping me. Finally I spoke to guy at the bar right next to the "To Go" station to ask for help and he said the lady would be there in a minute. Was waaay more than a minute before she showed up. And the place wasn't even busy. If I had not spoken to someone not sure when anyone would have helped me. Awful service. Very rude. If you're coming here to eat in recommend it. In early Feb. 2020, my wife, daughter and I ate at this location. The expereince was typically good, but the aftermath was nothing more than a horrible nightmate. Now, before I get into all the details, know that we have eaten at this locations (and four or five other locations) at least 250x in the past 10 years. Most of our experiences were good. So, please note this is more about this one visit, and what you need to know about their response, more than anything. On this particular day, my daughter (who is 16) had consumed nothing but dry cereal from a baggie while at school. When we got to Lupe in the late afternoon, she ordered Tacos al Carbon (Chicken), queso and sweet tea. My wife and I didn't have anything with fajita meat, but we did have queso. The problem, in our eyes, was that the fajita meat was bad. When we got home (about 15 min away), my wife and I went for a walk, coming back an hour later to find our daughter doubled-over in the bathroom, vomiting uncontrolably. It was bad. Every three minutes she started the vomitting process all over. This lasted deep into the night. Finally, we took her to the ER to get an IV for dehydration and another to get anti-nausea medicine into her. This costs us a $500 deductable. The ER doctor said that she had food poisoning. She asked what our daughter had consumed, we told her, and she said that she likely got it from Lupe. She also said that she likely had salmonella poisoning. She said we needed to contact Lupe. The next day I called the manager at this location and told him of the situation. I wasn't asking for anything, but just informing him in case others might have it, and so he could make sure it didn't happen again. He immediately went on the defensive, saying that food poisoning takes eight (8) hours to settle in and that there was "no way it could have come" from his store. He reassured me that he learned this and that there was no way it was from his restaurant. My daughters vomitting continued through the day / night. We even took her back to the ER (another $500) for dehydration and another round of anti-nausea meds. The Dr asked if we told Lupe, we said we had, and that Lupe's manager had said it takes eight (8) hours for food poisoning to set in. The Dr laughed and said that it can take anywhere from 20 min to a few hours for salmonella poisoning to set in. The CDC and Mayo Clinic websites also confirm that salmonella poisoning takes about an hour, and that it can last up to 10 days. Well, my daughter couldn't hold down food for five days, she lost 14 lbs (she was thin beforehand), and caused her to miss a week of school. Want to know how Lupe responded? We received a form letter from a Customer Relations Coordinator, who just copied and placed a "we are so sorry" bunch of garbage. It even insinuated that we filled out a card in their store (we sent a very long letter describing the ordeal, hoping they'd just acknowledge the situation and take measures internally to ensure that this couldn't happen again). They offered a $100 gift certificate for their "unsatisfactory" service. Note ... the service wasn't the issue. It was their food was likely bad and it poisoned our daughter. So ... moral of the story. If you have a bad experience at Lupe, with their food or service, we wish you good luck in getting them to even acknowledge the issue. They didn't with us. I am guessing that they won't, and they will try and buy you off with a giftcard of some kind. And so everyone is aware within Lupe Tortilla, salmonella poisoning takes as little as 45 minutes to set in ... not eight (8) hours. Oh, and they also lost a loyal customer for life. read more

Exactly like one of the 1000s of similar "party atmosphere" chain restaurants. Food is as you expect... chain standard fare. Fajitas were very salty. Cheese enchiladas were, well, average. Margaritas were good (not that it is hard to make them) but they did not skimp. I would not go there if I had a choice. read more

We had an exceptional meal here with exceptional service. The manager's David and Hans were extremely attentive. Made dinner suggestions that were spot on. Started with the Crab Stuffed Avocado (looking forward to ordering that again), Chipotle Ribs were so tender and delicious, beef fajitas (so so good!) and of course margaritas which were great. This is a great place to come if you're in the mood for some good fajitas and a nice atmosphere. What really makes this restaurant stand apart from all others, however, are their tortillas. You wouldn't think such a simple thing could make such a big impact on a meal, but man, it makes all the difference! As big as your plate, warm, buttery soft and melt-in-your-mouth-goodness. In fact, I recommend grabbing some queso and an order of tortillas to start your meal... just don't get too full! As far as the staff goes, I've always had great luck here. They're attentive, responsive, and go that extra mile. For the type of place this is, I have absolutely no complaints. The chef has come out a few times that I've been there and gone table to table making sure everyone is happy. This in itself is a nice gesture, but it doesn't stop there. He's smiling, genuinely happy to see everyone enjoying their meals. That, in my humble opinion, is what makes all the difference. So, if you're looking for a low-key Mexican restaurant with great food, service and atmosphere... look no further. This review is very late in coming and I apologize for the length. With the exception of the original Lupe location (Hwy 6/I-10), the Katy location and the Beaumont location, all the Lupe Tortillas have a new salsa, which I personally don't care for. You can still get the old salsa, but for 25 cents for one of those teeny, tiny bowls. We eat at Lupe frequently and always sit in the bar area, I've talked to other patrons and every single person has said they are dissatisfied with the change. Every Lupe employee I've talked to said that they get complaints constantly, in fact, I was sitting at the bar when I asked the manager about it and the poor guy was bombarded by everybody else at the bar chiming in that they're not happy about the change. The restaurant came up in conversation on the morning radio show I listen to and even the dj's complained about the change. As far as I can tell, nobody likes the new salsa! Well, I emailed corporate because I think it's ludicrous that they charge for the old stuff and, after resending it three times, here's the response I finally got: "For years, our number one complaint was that the original salsa was more of a "pico de gallo" rather than a traditional blended salsa. After testing the new salsa, the complaints decreased and only about 5% of guests were requesting the original salsa. We decided to make it available by request only: as for the charge, we hope you will understand that neither salsa is actually free. The cost of the chips, salsa and beans we serve every guest are included in the price of our food and beverages. With this in mind, we added a $0.25 charge for the old salsa to cover the cost of what is a very expensive product. We decided to do this because it did not seem fair to charge 100% of our guests for something that only 5% were asking for. The charge helps prevent an increase in the overall cost of our food and beverages. Knowing all of this we hope that you will see our decision was made with the best interest of all of our valued guests in mind." I sent a follow-up email saying I completely disagree with their 'facts' and that the only reason 5% requested the old salsa is because people were unaware that they could still get it (I wasn't offered the option, I asked!). I also said that, if they are going to charge for one, they should charge for the other. I did not receive a reply. Maybe this isn't that big of a deal, but it's the principle of the matter. Therefore, we now patronize the locations mentioned above, even though they aren't the most convenient for us to get to. And, noteworthy, these locations haven't raised their prices, these others have. read more

Came in with a friend and I purchased our two meals and my friend bought dessert and the tip. I guess she thought the tip wasn't enough because they took their copy and added 20% more on top of the cash my friend left, to my credit card WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION!!! Was having a tough Monday - working from home, been up since 3:00 am with all of the paperwork. Needless to say, when 5:30 pm rolled around, we needed a serious pick me up....and my tummy was growling loudly! Been to this location several times and it's always been great. Today, had the pleasure of having Grant be our server and he didn't disappoint! Super nice and incredibly attentive with making sure our day ended on a high note. Visited the Lupe tortilla at 249 and spring cypress and ordered 1 pound of beef fajitas To go. Once the order was complete it was put in a bag and handled to me. I arrived home and started unpacking it and I quickly realized that I didn't receive a full pound of beef but instead a half of pound. I called the restaurant and asked for the manager (Alex or Adam) to explain the situation he said I could come back to restaurant and get the remaining of the food. I assume I would get the half a pound and maybe some more fresh tortillas and chips but when I arrived the manager handed me a small box no bag just a small container of the half of pound of fajitas. To me that was very unprofessional to treat a customer like that especially when it was the restaurants fault and it was an inconvenience. Also, the original salsa is still my favorite over the new one, but as long as it's still available, I will go back. I always enjoy coming to have dinner at Lupe Tortilla with my family but tonight I'm very upset with how service went. I ordered a Mexican coke and to my surprise the coke was flat. ( yes I know it's a closed bottle but it was very much flat..) The manager ( or what seemed to be) was walking around checking on tables to which I kindly informed him my coke was flat. He has a shocked reaction and informed me that it was capped and I said yes I know but it very much is flat. His reaction and response caught me off guard and was rude. He then left without a comment to which I thought he was going to return with a new one ( in hopes it wasn't flat) He never came back.. I mentioned to my waiter what happened to which he had same reaction of ' how could it possibly be flat..' at that moment the same gentlemen ( when again I thought was the manager) walked by without even checking if the issue had been solved. I then informed my waiter to get me a regular coke since they seemed to have an issue. The way this was all handled was not professional. When a customer has told you of an issue regardless of your belief you get it fixed especially when I was rude in any way of the situation. read more

I don't eat quac or tortillas and wanted more pico than the little tiny bit they gave me. It took a long time for the food, and considering it was a week night I am not sure why? I've probably been more to Lupe's in the past two months since discovering their breakfast than I have in the past 10 years for any other reason. The chilaquiles are above and beyond some of the best breakfast eats I've had. The tortilla chips range from crunchy to soggy with the either spicy Verde sauce or mild tomatillo sauce of your choice... I usually get the spicy on the side and mix it with the mild. the fried egg with runny yolk, mixed with the guacamole and stewed chicken is completely devine. Didn't have such a great how come with the churros, it seems like they were undercooked, but the caramel and chocolate sauces that came with it were amazing. The pecan praline waffle and pancakes we're also very good, the bourbon syrup is just delicious. It's all I can do to try not to go every weekend morning now. The staff is all very friendly and talkative if you want them to be or will let you be if you don't feel like it. There's usually a manager visit to the table once every time I've been there to check on things and make sure everything is up to our liking. the first few times I went breakfast was taking about 15 minutes to get out of the kitchen but recently it's gotten down to about 5 to 7 minutes which is great. read more

Just tried to call in an order and waited on hold for "20" minutes. Call routes to the front desk "3" times by the time we got to the resturant. Went in and to add insult to injury we had to start "all" over and wait behind 2 other people. When all of this was explained to the Manager all he did was offer to address it with who knows who!! I'm the newest fan of Lupe Tortilla after visiting a couple weeks ago with family. Let's start with the seating: No wait for party of 5. Fun patio area with water feature. Food/Drink: Heavy pours for the alcoholic drinks, especially the margaritas. I really got my money's worth there. Great guac with my chips. The surf and turf style fajita plate is huge and very tasty. Also there's some type of cheesy sauce that you can pour over your chips or your meal. I wanted to lick the plate. This supposedly famous little fiesta city restaurant was mediocre in my books. The salsa was just chopped up tomatoes and jalapenos, with a weird bean dip. First time here, and very impressed. Fajitas were terrific, came with shredded cheese and refills of the fajita fillers (cheese, rice, peco etc.) are free. This was my first visit here; we were interested in finding a new place in the area. We went in to get food to-go, however, we waited in the bar area (where to-go orders are placed/picked up) for about 15 minutes without having our order taken. There were 10 servers walking around us at all times and they almost seemed to avert their eyes from ours as they walked by! Anyway, after the wait, we decided to leave without ordering at all. We won't be back. Btw, I have had very very good experience with Santa Fe across the freeway (both to-go and dining). We were greeted immediately and given drinks while we waited.
