Even the server was having a hard time...we asked her to repeat herself and she took off her mask to speak louder! Probably not the best idea with COVID but hey, it worked. I ordered the Iglesias. I only received 2 enchiladas instead of 3 like the menu states, but it was no big deal because I was so full from just those two. The enchiladas I did get were delicious. Tonight was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant and a case study of how not to handle negative situations. A large Cockroach scaled down a wall (inside the restaurant), landed on my shoulder and ended up on my face. 4 tables saw what happened and patrons scattered when they realized what was going on. One of the servers squished it in the corner after everyone was looking for it and finally located where it went. I had to ask for a manager to come over and in all fairness she did apologize, however not one dime was comp'd after then taking my meal away, 1/2 eaten because I lost my appetite and wanted nothing from that kitchen. I realize everyone is working their tails off these days and trying their best, but this was BAD and handled even worse. I won't ever step foot in there again. read more

My husband drags me here all of the time for their chicken/beef fajitas add shrimp. I usually end up getting extra tortillas and rice/beans and making my own tacos from his. Lupe Tortilla on 249 deserves a huge high-five. We got home with a huge box of food to realize it was the wrong order. Before I could even make the call to the restaurant they called me to ask for my address because they were sending my food ASAP. They also told us to keep the incorrect order and assured us the family on the other side of the mix up would get their correct order as well. I know this is a chain and nothing like the original location near Hwy 6 and Katy freeway, but I am glad to have one in the neighborhood. The witty menu is gone, and the prices are a higher price point with lunch setting you back about $15 for lunch and $20-25 for dinner without the margaritas. Nevertheless, I love the pinto beans served with salsa and chips and various dishes. You can also save some money by sharing the combo plates. For instance, 2 items costs you $13.95 but for 4 items, it is only $15.95. Get my drift. I also rarely order appetizers as they are priced like entrees in the $10‐12 range. I like guacamole and the table-side ensures that you get fresh avocado, but at $13 it is a treat. I usually just eat the frijoles with the chips. My absolute favorite dish is the chicken poblano ($15.95 with rice and beans) It is a roasted poblano pepper stuffed full of chicken and Monterey Jack cheese. Always curious if I am getting a "hot" poblano or a "mild" one. Very flavorful. A good option to a chile relleno but no batter and not fried. My other favorite is the flat enchiladas ($11.95) which is made just like it sounds. Overall, a good Tex-Mex restaurant in the area. Friendly greeting upon arrival. Seated very quickly. Everyone wearing a mask and social distance observed. Waiter brought warm chips and 2 sauces and a small bowl of beans. Took our drink order. We were offered paper menus and they also have online menus. We ordered the chili con queso. Delicious. Jalapeños on the side. My husband ordered the Big Sucker Burrito He said it was delicious. I ordered the Classic Tex Mex Enchiladas. It came with refried beans, rice, and a side salad and grilled onions. I didn't like the enchiladas. The corn tortilla was too thick for me. The carne molinda was tasty and well seasoned but the corn tortilla overwhelmed the meat. The portions were HuGE. The beans and rice were very good. We had great service. Second visit to Lupe and we love it even more! Dylan is the most amazing server ever!! Extremely personable, attentive, and obviously highly experienced. I would put him in charge of customer service, personally. The food was amazing yet again. I tried the grilled portobello mushroom fajitas...delicioso! The type of rice that is hard and grainy when you bite into it because it is not fully cooked. This is the second that I have eaten here. The first time several years ago it was trying their fajitas, chicken I believe. It was forgettable. This time I had the large burrito and I must say the same. Now, don't hate me. I realize that there are people out there that like this chain restaurant. I don't. Then the entrees come out and I begin to think of many mexican restaurants that I have visited where I have enjoyed the meal more. I will admit the interior decor of the restaurant is nice and my service was good. It's just the food does't make me think "this is good mexican"... Also, their prices are a little higher than normal and since I am don't get food that I like that becomes a turn off too. For these reasons, I give it a 2 which says " Meh, I've experienced better". I didn't cry because I was leaving my family and friends in Texas, I cried because I don't know when I'll be back here. The chicken fajitas are like nothing you've ever tasted. The queso, so, so cheesy. The tortillas, so fresh. The chips, so light. The meal, so divine. Whoever said the salsa is bad is obviously from a place where taste buds don't grow - try the one with serrano peppers, you'll get them back, I promise. A tear slid down my cheek just remembering it. This food is AMAZING. I ate here twice in three days and it WASN'T ENOUGH. This is hands down my very favorite Mexican restaurant. Ever! I've been coming to Lupes for years - my favorite location being the original house on Stanford, but I've found all the new locations are equally amazing! I always get the same thing because - well it's so darn good I can't stray!!! I always order the pound of beef fajitas (because I'm usually with friends and we share) with mixed order of tortillas (flour and corn) guacamole, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes- omg I'm almost drooling writing this. Soooooo good! The dot margarita is also a must! And the large are fun to share as well. The staff is perfectly attentive and I loved how the manager came by and made sure we were all set as well. A perfect amount of customer interaction to make a group of crazy gals feel special :) I live out of state now, but make Lupe Tortillas a stop for lunch or dinner every time I'm back in town. read more

Up front, I'll state that I've never been a Lupe's fanatic. Their beef fajitas, which tend to be the favorite among true believers, I find simply soaked in lime and oversalted. I like them just fine, but I don't put them in the pantheon of great fajitas. I find much of the rest of the Lupe's menu to be fairly simplistic in flavor and presentation. Salsa is disappointing -- no heat, and more of a damp pico de gallo than something to dip the chips (mediocre) in. Lest I run Lupe's down too much -- the food is always decent and pretty consistent. Prices are a bit high, IMHO, for the value. Their flour tortillas are amazingly thin -- some of the best I've had. The fajitas are worth it just for those. A positive service note as well. I recently dined at Lupe's for lunch, and my entree didn't get served with the rest of the group. No biggie -- I wasn't starving, given my chip consumption up to that point. Well, after a few minutes, the manager stopped by, and told me that my plate had been dropped in the kitchen (hence the delay), and it would be just a few more minutes (again, fine by me). Then he comped my lunch, with no request on my part. Aggressively good service move -- very positive. read more
