Stopping over in midtown Atlanta on a 3 day road trip, thought I'd check out what seemed like a fancy Italian restaurant across from my hotel. With driving, I was dressed sporty casual but that did not seem to create jolts of enthusiasm from the front desk staff. Bar staff was courteous at best overall. The food, while surely based on premium ingredients without any doubt, was super super salty. Such a shame to spoil nice food with so much sodium. Date night out with the friends on a busy Friday evening. We arrived early and the place was packed but fortunately we were able to find a small table by the bar. Initially we were told that there would be no table service but the waitress nearby said she was happy to help us. They were quite busy so drinks were delayed but we really appreciated the effort. The cocktails were delicious and well balanced. I don't think you can go wrong as long as you know your favorite base. The bread was delicious and warm accompanied by a signature butter blend. For some reason our table did not have bread plates and I had to get these myself from the nearby waiter station. Inexcusable for a place like this was such a high price point. Our waiter was fantastic and Suggested the broccoli salad which was covered in a dusting of Parmigiano Reggiano. Highly recommend. We also had the prosciutto plate plate which was OK. Probably would've preferred a simple charcuterie offering paired with wine. Speaking of which, we tried the Willamette valley Pinot Noir which tasted more like a Zinfandel, Not bad but different than what I was expecting. I'm not quite sure how good the waiter was in terms of helping us with our wine selection so I suggest taking a look at the list before you go. In terms of mains, you can't miss the squid ink pasta with Georgia shrimp. The winter squash ravioli was also excellent. I enjoyed the snapper as well. Overall the price point is pretty high, the quality of food and drinks were great. Service overall was average. I have been wanting to come here since it opened and somehow just never made it - even though I work so close by! My partner surprised me with a reservation here for my birthday and we had such a nice dining experience. Starting with the cocktails, which were complex (his bold and mine delicate), to the appetizer of peach and mozzarella, and our entrees of the duck lasagne and the fresh corn with rabbit ravioli - wow! I could eat that ravioli every day. We finished with the lemon cheesecake which was somehow decadent without being too heavy like a NY style. Love this place. The four of us were seated in this cozy round table with sofa around it. It's certainly a place for dating or group gathering. I enjoyed the food so much. This place is famous for their natural wine, so if you have tried it before. Try it :-) the red color is brighter and more crystal like compared to the usual dark red, adding some natural feeing to it. Duck lasagna is the best. My friend and I made a reservation for dinner at Lyla Lila prior to seeing a show at the Fox Theatre. We were deciding between several restaurants in the area, and we are so happy we ended up here! It is my new favorite special occasion spot ITP. The interior is beautiful and upscale, yet it also makes you feel comfortable. The color scheme used in the decor is perfect. The staff we interacted with were all very friendly, but I especially want to shout out our server Hilary, who made our first experience great! She recommended ordering appetizer portions of their pasta entrees so we could try more dishes, and that's exactly what we did. We ordered the crispy artichokes app (so yummy - you have to order this!), and the following pasta dishes: smoked ricotta ravioli with pork, cacio e pepe, and wagyu beef and black truffle ravioli. All three were delicious, but both my friend and I have not stopped talking about the wagyu beef one. I hope it's still on the menu next time I visit! We ordered espresso martinis for a bit of caffeine before our evening show time, and they were delicious. And for dessert, we had to try the Meyer lemon cheesecake with chantilly cream & blueberries, and it was probably the best cheesecake I've ever had! read more

Located in Midtown Atlanta, Lyla Lila brings sophisticated Italian dishes that are not found at other Italians places in the area. Out waiter was very attentive and has great knowledge of the menu items and their flavor profile. He suggested we order 1/2 portions of each pasta which was a great idea! I brought my husband here for his birthday dinner and it was an excellent choice. The tables were kind of close together, so not as intimate as I like but still nice. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and was attentive. We started with the cold smoked scallops which game out beautifully presented under a cloche with the smoke coming out. I love scallops and smoked foods but not sure I'd try this again. We shared a side of squid ink pasta which was excellent. For our entrees I had the grilled scallops while hubby had the crispy duck lasagna. We also shared a side of the mushrooms because he loves mushrooms. The lasagna was phenomenal! It is a large piece so depending on your appetite, you could probably share. I enjoyed my scallops and the accompanying sauce and veggies; however, some of them were a little too grilled and had a charred taste that can be good on some foods but not scallops. We both loved the mushrooms! We also split the cheesecake which was great. Overall, I'd come here again to try other menu items. This meal was such a delight! Our favorite dishes of the evening were everything. Seriously, so hard to choose! We had the bread--fresh and steaming hot--the peach salad--really loved the saltiness of the pesto with the creaminess of the mozz and the surprise of the peach/beet mix. For our mains we did the small versions of the rabbit/mortadella tortellini and the duck lasagna. I'm glad that I tried the lasagna, and I liked it, but it was my least favorite dish of the evening. The tortellini, though, were so rich and fresh. The consommé took it to a much more nuanced and delicious taste. Next we had the snapper and the risotto--such a lovely pairing recommended by our server, Russell. Each of these dishes were rich, perfectly seasoned, and so savory! For dessert we shared the ice cream sandwich--it's a bit of a mess once you break into it, but we managed to eat it without getting any chocolate on ourselves, and honestly, the mess was part of the fun. I really enjoyed the ambiance--it was attractive without feeling stuffy. Seriously the best meal I've had in years. Everything tasted so inspired and I was blown away, extremely fresh and the flavors of everything paired so well. Started off with the burrata which was really light. It was a combination of blackberries, burrata, heirloom tomatoes and herbs, just refreshing and palatable. Ordered the Wagyu ravioli which was just incredible and melt in your mouth. Also got the cavatelli. WOW! Pork ragu was just decadent, lobster was delicious, the pasta itself was just amazing. It was like a symphony of flavors, I honestly would not have thought the combination of pork and lobster would work so well together. Service was really good and our waitress was super friendly. Both of us were celebrating our birthday, and she made it special. Ambiance was just beautiful! The space seems artisanal but not overbearing or crowded. I really have not even a single complaint and can't think of a way this could have been better. Were it not for the pricing, I may have given three stars but, since everything was so expensive, I think I was expecting quite more. Overall, the service was good but I wouldn't come back. Like most other recent diners I was likely guided to Lyla Lila by the NYT article. Knowing I would be in town, as soon as that list came out I checked to see what ATL restaurant was potentially listed and grabbed reservations. We snagged a 8:30 pm res. We were seated promptly and our server brought over our menu. We decided to share a snapper crudo app, and I opted for the duck lasagna while my bf went with a kobucha squash ravioli. The app was delicate but also fiery. I am not sure how they prepared the grapes but they definitely hit the back of your throat and the subtle pops of brininess from the caviar sets the dish off. Very small portion size, which is laughable considering what I am about to write next. The duck lasagna, the entree size, is literally a brick. I have never been served a lasagne portion that big. They offer all their entrees almost in app portions but I think considering pricing it just makes sense to get the entree size. In my mind I was expecting a regular portion that most of us are accustomed to. Needless to say my boyfriend had to help me finish this. I split off half of it onto his plate. It was good and I can honestly say different from what a traditional lasagna tastes like. I would get this but def spring for the half portion app size next time. I tried some of my boyfriend's ravioli and the filling was so good, and the sauce was very silky. I really enjoyed it and he did too. We split an ice cream sandwich for dessert which was essentially a pistachio ice cream sandwiched between two pizzeles and a magic chocolate shell. Very indulgent and hit the spot. Enjoyed a lovely group dinner at Lyla Lila for 8 on a Thursday evening. We made reservations(definitely a must), and had a drink at the bar before being seated. The bar area is a cute hangout spot as well. We had a large table in a small room for a few large parties near the back of the restaurant. Our table started with cocktails(yummy martini for me) and then migrated to cab sauv. We ordered the fried artichoke(yum!), crudo, salads, grilled figs, and prosciutto. Figs, crudo, and artichoke were crowd favorites. Definitely sized to share. For dinner we ordered the pork, Mahi mahi, steak and duck lasagna. Omg this duck lasagna was huge! The size of a brick. Enough for 3 people. The duck is crispy which is a fun take on the dish. Highly recommend. Parking is tough. Valet at the Georgian next store is easy. Street parking if your lucky. Fantastic experience! My wife and I were meeting friends before a show at The Fox, so we were worried this only existed for convenience, but then we ate the food and ordered the drinks -- it could hold its own anywhere! We ordered the calamari appetizer, my wife had the apple cocktail and scallops for her entree, and I had the duck fat old fashioned and duck lasagna. The calamari was good, but had more beans than squid. The cocktails were fantastic, but we differ a bit on what we want from drinks, so we were both happy with ours (sometimes we get drink envy!) The scallops were perhaps the best I've had, and the lasagna was a major game changer for me. I'm not a huge fan of Italian food (I've mentioned elsewhere that I seen to be the only American without some mystical Nonna making authentic Italian food out there - even my Korean-American wife had an Italian uncle who made great food!), but this was such a unique, flavorful, generous portion that three of the for of us all enjoyed quite a bit of it. Our friends ordered the truffle filled pasta and lamb chops. The lamb was apparently not great, and the truffle pasta was decent but not a dish I would want for my main. Our waiter was also fantastic - I'm blanking on his name, but he was present up until the end when they seemed overwhelmed with a large party. We didn't get a chance to try dessert because we were too close to show time, but we had great food and could hear each other well even though the space was a bit cramped with tables. We went to Lyla Lila for my birthday to celebrate before going to the symphony hall. From the moment we walked in everyone was so welcoming and kind. We were taken to our seats where we were greeted by our waitress. We started our dinner with a Soul Vaccination and Fists of Fury which were incredible. The duck fat washed bourbon was different, but so delicious! We started our food with the crispy artichokes and again incredible. Our entrees were a half portion of the crispy duck lasagna, the bone in NY strip and we shared a side of Brussels. The lasagna flavor was out of the world, the steak was so tender and cooked perfectly, the Brussels were perfectly charred and had the right pop of acidity from the sauce. I ended the evening with an affogato and it was brought out with a birthday candle. I couldn't have been happier. The service was unmatched, at one point my husband excused himself to the restroom and the waitress came and wiped down his side of the table and refolded his napkin. Our server, Ashley, was super friendly & knowledgable about the menu (I'm a vegetarian & she made excellent recommendations & let me know the salad I ordered had anchovies in the dressing which I really appreciated!). The artichokes & brussel sprouts were delicious vegetarian starters & my mom and I shared the two vegetarian pasta options, both of which were incredible! The caccio e Pepe was rich & cheesy, and the cappaletti was tasted fresh & complemented the caccio e Pepe well! I don't like overly fussy food and a quick peek at the menu on our way there showed cocoa in the bechamel and basil in the lemon cheesecake? Eh boy.... Well folks, I had nothing to worry about. This is not a chef adding ingredients just to seem different. Everything blended beautifully together and was so lovely to eat. We ordered the crispy artichokes (the parmigiana fonduta is wowza good), smoked eggplant caramelle, the scallops with red kuri squash (never heard of that type of squash-loved it), the wood grilled mushrooms (more of the awesome parm fonduta for the win!) and the ice cream sandwich (who knew fennel in the pizzelle wafers would work so well, not this girl, but it does). Our experience at this place was top notch and I have nothing negative to say about this place. From getting seated to food to service, everything was absolutely amazing! We had reservations for 8:45 PM and we arrived shortly before 8:30 PM. I checked in with the hostess and she mentioned they are running behind on tables so I was asked to stand next to the bar. She then seated me to a cocktail table while our table was getting cleaned and set. We were seated at our table within 10 minutes of arriving. It did take awhile for our server to get to our table, but everything was smooth sailing once she introduced herself and got our drink orders. Our server, Emily, was super helpful as this was our first time dining at Lyla Lila. She explained the menu breakdown, which made us change what we were initially ordering. One aspect about this place that we really liked is that we can order the pasta dishes as an appetizer portion. Emily mentioned that it would help their kitchen if we ordered all our meals at once and to help space out when we get our food. At some point, we waited for awhile to get our last few dishes and they gave us complimentary wine (half pour), which honestly made up for the wait. Here's all we ordered: -House bread (arrived warm with a spicy butter) -Fried artichokes: nicely fried with a creamy tangy sauce, though I thought the inside of the artichokes was too greasy for my liking -Squid ink spaghetti: my husband's favorite! The pasta had a very nice chew and the shrimp was cooked perfectly, it had a nice spice to elevate the flavor -Scallops: my favorite dish of the night! Big pieces of scallops with the crust and the squash that it was served with was perfect *chef's kiss* -Duck lasagna: the lasagna pasta itself was nice and thin and could really taste the duck over all, it had a super nice crunch topping too We were so stuffed by the end of this meal that we did not have room for dessert. We wanted to try a new spot that had great reviews & found this place, so we made reservations for a Saturday date night. We are SO glad we found this new spot & will be coming back for sure, even if it is just for a bottle of wine & appetizers! We ordered the bread, octopus & scallops appetizers to start with. The octopus was cooked to perfection, meaning it was not over cooked and rubbery as many places do. The sauce for it was perfect as were the sun-chokes, similar to potatoes but also different. The scallops were amazing, served cold with these yummy tortilla like chips. They were topped with caviar & had their own unique sauce. For our entrees I ordered the wagyu beef ravioli, whole, and my boyfriend did the half & half option they offer where you can do 2 half sized pasta portions to try different ones, and they take off $5 for each pasta you order for this combo. His duck lasagna was soooo crispy and layered..a process that takes 4 days to perfect. His other pasta was the black squid calamari, which tasted so great too! My beef ravioli was great, but a little too much on the sweet side for my personal liking ( I like more salty & wine/garlic taste to dishes). We ordered a bottle of wine they recommended & it tasted perfect; reminded me of my family's wine we make back home in Croatia, it had an almost carbonated taste to it. I almost took off a star because of our table, but the food was just too amazing. But please pull the shades down when the sun is setting. We sat in the corner booth and it was so hot with the sun beating on our backs. I went with a friend and we had the homemade focaccia, the broccoli salad, the waygu beef & truffle ravioli, the rabbit & corn ravioli, and a side of mushrooms. Both raviolis were delicious. The broccoli salad was an unexpected gem though! The flavors worked so well together and we loved it! The bread and mushrooms were also great. We just went to the bar for light snacks and drinks. At first, it was awkward as we were getting ignored by the bartenders and the lady switching music up front couldn't answer any of our Qs nor did she try to find out--we literally asked if we could order food...but once a bartender locked in on us, he was attentive and on it for the rest of the night. They have a really good selection of alcohol, though head's up that their espresso isn't anything to write home about (no cream either, just whole milk). In addition to drinks, we also got: Bread selection: Sourdough and rosemary ciabatta slices with herb compound butter. This came out way better than I thought. The sourdough was ok, but that ciabatta was fluffy and pillowy and a complete delight. The salt flakes on top rounded it off and the butter was of great quality. Worth every dollar. Beef tartare: Each restaurant makes their tartare differently, and this was no exception. The togarashi/chili flake really adds a wonderful kick to each bite, and they amp up the textural component with fresh greens and light crisps on top. I highly recommend this dish. Cold smoked scallops: This comes literally smoking as the lift the lid from the bowl, and it smells so decadent! There's a few drops of sauce at the top of the scallops that add color and creaminess to the dish, and the scallops themselves have the smooth, velvety texture of butter. I put some on my bread and oh em gee! What a treat! Honestly, the food here was absolute heaven and I'm excited to come back for the full dinner experience. The food and service at Lyla Lila were simply phenomenal. If you're looking for a great upscale restaurant in Atlanta, this is one of my current top recommendations. The cuisine is Southern European, such as Italian and Spanish. Lyla Lila is located only a block north of the Fox Theatre. Drinks at the bar or dinner at the dining room or patio at Lyla Lila would pair really well with a show at the Fox. You just have to make sure to book reservations well in advance because this place is popular. It's ideal for a fun night out. When I booked a week out for a Friday dinner, via Resy, the only available times were right when they opened at 5:00pm or late, at 9:45pm and after. Seatings were available until as late as 10:45pm on Friday and Saturday. 9:45 ended up working out well for us. When we arrived, both the bar and dining room were packed and bustling. By the time we were done around 11:45pm, the dining room had completely cleared out and we were the last to leave. There were still folks at the bar. This is a dinner-only restaurant. We parked in the 715 Peachtree deck nearby. Enter the deck via 3rd St NE. If you're familiar parking in this area for the Fox, this is the same as the Fox "Orange Lot." For us, it cost $10 on a non-Fox-event night. The restaurant doesn't validate, unfortunately. You can also street-park in the area or park in The Georgian Terrace deck, accessible via Peachtree St NE (same block as restaurant). This isn't a very big restaurant nor is it that lavish. It's simply yet tastefully designed. The bar is beautiful. The main dining room is cozy and well-appointed. It's snug, so you're likely to sit close to your neighbors. There's a second dining room which I noticed the staff curtained off later in the night after it had emptied out. I think it's a bookable private dining room. In general, the staff seemed well-trained and on top of their game. When we visited, the food menu had 24 selections. No matter how many dishes you choose, your meal is coursed out for you. As far as coursing went, all courses were timed perfectly. Again, we were just really impressed with the food and service. Lyla Lila is a great example of how a nice restaurant should be run. The Soul Vaccination was fantastic. It started off citrusy, then you could taste the bourbon, and then it finished with the flavor and mouthfeel of the duck fat; a truly unique and wonderful cocktail. The Wagyu Beef Tartare was rich and magical. The colatura aioli was made with Italian fish sauce. The high-quality Cold Smoked Scallops had an amazing presentation where smoked billowed out of the bowl upon serving. The Crispy Duck Lasagna was an eye-popper, mainly due to its size. It's big enough for two people and is one of Lyla Lila's signature dishes. It was absolutely delectable. I recommend it. I had the NY Strip cooked medium rare and it was mouthwateringly good, especially with the rich potato-bone marrow puree. The meat was tender and served cut into slices, with bone. I love mushrooms and thought the Maitake Mushrooms were out-of-this-world. I was really pleased with the portion size. These were meaty, filling mushrooms. Together with the black truffle aioli and Parmigiano, it was umami to the max. The Ice Cream Sandwich was incredible, made with thin, delightful Italian cookies. Our server, Dwayne, was a big reason why we liked this place so much. Dwayne couldn't have been any friendlier and more honest. He was a terrific, knowledgeable server. The hostess was nice too. Was in Atlanta for a weekend, and heard incredible things about this place! It was good, but a bit underwhelming for the price. We got appetizer sizes of the cavatelli and wagyu ravioli, the roasted mushroom side dish and the snapper in squash. The snapper in squash and cavatelli were incredddible, but I'd suggest just getting the full sizes of the pastas. It's barely cheaper for the pasta for 1/3 more! Ambiance: 10/10 Food: 6.5/10 Drinks: 7/10 First off, Lyla Lila is a perfect date spot, so if you're looking for an upscale restaurant to sip and nibble mindlessly while enjoying your company, this is the place for you. The interior is modern, classy with small round tables and quiet music. The windows give you a view of the street, and you feel as if you are there to be seen. It's located in front of Fox theater and although parking is tricky, there are plenty of side streets behind Lyla that have free parking past 6:30pm. The food was underwhelming overall but the presentation and the cooking methods made up for the lack in flavor. Bread and butter: 8/10 Bread is always good. They serve a white bread and a brown sourdough with their beloved flavored butter. The white bread was very good, and the brown sourdough had a strong sour flavor. Each have their charm. The butter was more of a buttercream, and tasted like cocoa. It was a fun spread, but not memorable. Duck lasagna: 5/10 The duck lasagna, the most famous dish, is a spectacle. It's the size of a brick, an actual brick, and it is enough to feed 3-4 people. The duck was hardly there though. The lasagna tasted more like a gratin dauphinois, it had countless layers of pasta with a neutral white sauce, just a uniform béchamel sauce with little to no depth in flavor. We had to ask for pepper flakes and salt, to which our waitress gave us the most appalled look. The pepper made it ten times better though. The top is a crunchy parm crust and there is a small drizzle of basil oil that helps with the dryness. Maitake mushrooms: 9/10 We also got the maitake mushrooms which were a delicious and came in a hefty size. They were roasted and charred, and placed on a bed of some cream sauce (very similar to the lasagna). These mushrooms are such a good side dish if you're looking for meat alternatives. Also needed more salt, and tasted way better with red pepper flakes. Tiramisu: 9/10 We ended our night with their famous tiramisu which was also large! Again, it was enough for three people to share, which is quite a good deal for $10. The tiramisu is lighter than others I've had and that's what makes it good. My bf also really enjoyed it and he's had tons of tiramisu in Italy. Drinks: 7/10 I had their Sunrise cocktail which is a cocchi americano with bubbles, it was well balanced and potent. The bubbles balanced the liqueur very nicely. My bf got the eight line poem which is a ginger mocktail, it was very sweet and he liked it better once he diluted it with water. read more

Lyla Lila is one of the most hyped up restaurants in 2022 in Atlanta, yet the flavors fell well below my expectations. This restaurant has a huge waitlist, stringent cancellation policy and is advertised as a Resy Dining Guide restaurant. I have never been steered wrong by Resy until I came to Lyla Lila. The menu was far too expensive (in line with the Instagram foodie influencer hype) and way way way too salty! I swear we drank 3 bottles of water at our menu to overcome the obliteration of my pallet. The chicken main entree was alright, again, salty, and didn't have many compelling textural elements to it (re: crispy skin, juicy meat, smooth sauce, crispy veg). I think my review was completely impacted by our server. Had it been a great server experience it could have gone entirely differently. We came here before a show at the Fox (probably as a lot of people do) and the host was very warm and welcoming. However, as soon as we were sat the vibe completely changed. Our server was generally disinterested and really didn't want to be very helpful. Full disclosure --- we are difficult. Our child has an egg allergy which means we ask tons of questions, made request food be specially prepared, etc. Our server wasn't rude by any means, but also didn't really seem to care one way or the other. For example, our son loved pasta and we asked which had egg in them. She informed us they are all boiled in shared water (which is pretty standard). But when we asked her if there was any way to prepare it in separate water she just said no without checking? Is that really an unreasonable of a request? They also said they had vegan pasta options. And when we inquired if those were cooked in the same shared pasta water with egg pastas she said yes... so... keep that in mind if you are vegan. Literally every other interaction we had with every other employee was fantastic. For example on of the food runners was very knowledgeable with allergy info and made us feel much more comfortable. Overall, it left us uneasy and anxious our son would have a reaction instead of us being able to relax and enjoy ourselves. Okay... that's the service rant. On to the food. Great items: Artichoke app - soooo good. Our son made a meal out of these alone. Beef ravioli - rich is an understatement but also incredibly balanced. Mushroom side - if you love mushrooms, you'll love this. Pure mushroom flavor. Ice cream sandwich - you have to like cherries... but if so you will love this. So so items: Brussel sprouts - overwhelming asian flavors that didn't really meld with the other dishes Focaccia - this is actually a great starter... but it feels like it should just come to the table without having to order and pay for it. My wife and I agree we would be willing to come again but would have to leave our son at home and if we get the same server request a different one. That's something I don't think I've ever done, but there's a first time for everything. read more

One of the only places where I'm ready and willing to spend $40 on an entree in Atlanta. You know I'm talking about the duck lasagna! It is a huge brick-like portion so it is well worth the price. We also got the wagyu beef and black truffle ravioli, which was very rich and had a beautiful presentation. Stunning restaurant and definitely an experience I'd reserve for a special occasion or celebration. The service is upscale but personable. I walked in here and got a spot at the bar. Their bar is the absolute best! I love the fact that records are played and you get to see the vinyls. The cocktail I had was Doesn't make sense which was with the olive oil infused vodka and it was wonderful. For my appetizers I had the prosciutto with the melon and the tajin burrata with the Georgia peaches. They were both amazing and very refreshing considering the summer weather. For my entree I had the chicken with the charred lemon. It was outstanding. I wish I could have had the pasta or the duck lasagna but unfortunately due to health reasons I couldn't but they looked incredible. Can't wait to be back!
