The service and food was great. Love the unique spices used. I got the lamb shank plate but substituted with a grilled shank. I didn't realize lamb ribs were almost entirely fat. The pickled carrots are really good too. Plenty of parking.

Rating 9/10 This place is fire. Staff/owner are very passionate and friendly. We ordered the combo plate, and the lamb skewers. The shank and rib are literally fall off the bone - so tender. The pickled vegetables are a great palette cleanser to the meat. The skewers are huge and juicy. Everything is good and fresh - from the soup to the chili oil to the lamb. Great spot, would highly recommend.

Phenomenal grilled lamb rib and shank combo. So tender and seasoned to perfection, even the rice. The pickled veggies is a well-balanced complement. The included soup with winter melon was a great addition to the cool weather in SoCal. Casual dining scene, ordering through the phone and able to pay on there as well.

First time here after a friend's recommendation, and wow--this place is basically a love letter to lamb. The menu is simple, straightforward, and very confident about it (as it should be). My mom ordered the lamb skewers, and let me tell you... this was the best lamb we've had since eating it in China 20 years ago. That's a bold statement, but the skewers earned it. Big portions, perfectly seasoned, and zero dryness. I went with the lamb shank plate, and the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender with absolutely none of that gamey smell people worry about. My favorite part? The rice. It soaked up all the lamb and carrot juices like it knew exactly what its job was. I could've eaten a whole bowl of just that. They also give you these small side dishes--pickled garlic, carrot, and cucumber--which made the meal feel extra thoughtful. Overall, just a fantastic food experience. My only suggestion: please expand and open more dining areas--this place deserves more space for all the lamb lovers out there.

The textbook example of doing a few things really well. We tried the lamb ribs, lamb shank and grilled skewers - essentially the whole menu and it was simple and delicious and felt like a warm hug. The braised lamb cuts were fall off the bone tender and the skewers were a spicy/chewy contrast. The lamb is high quality and not gamey at all. Service also was so genuinely kind and felt like we were being hosted by a friend (though it was our first time there). I really wanted to try the yogurt dessert but was too stuffed - something to look forward to next time!

The food is a little pricey but I genuinely think it's worth it. I recommend getting the grilled lamb ribs because the grilled fat renders it crispy, and it comes with a dry spice rub that gives it a flavorful kick, not at all spicy. Everything comes out piping hot which is also a great touch. The cherry on top is how quick the food arrives, which is incredibly satisfying service. Another added bonus is they offer disposable gloves so you can avoid greasy hands. There are 4 big tables inside as well as bar seating along the wall, and a few outdoor tables as well, with calm ambient music playing to serenade your deliciously special yet casual meal.

We found M Joy in Anaheim because we were craving for some lamb shank. We got there on a Sunday afternoon; it wasn't busy but tables were never empty. We asked the cashier what was good for first timer, she recommended #3, rib and shank, both broiled and grilled. We also got extra grilled ribs because why not. The set came with rice with lamb fat, soup, fresh pickled veggies, hot oil and extra crushed seasoned hot peppers. For drinks, we got the salty milk tea to share, you can drink it hot or over ice. We recommend drink it hot, it was creamy, salty, and addicting. The dish size was pretty big. It was a bit pricy, but we were full from it. We really loved the grilled lamb. They were crispy outside and tender juicy inside. It wasn't even gamey, and one spoon of the hot oil and pepper dipped lamb, rice, and pickled veggies, a bite of heaven. Overall we had a fantastic experience. The cashier was friendly and helpful, even had a little social chat. Food was just delicious and unique. Definitely a return spot for us since we still want to try their lamb skewers. They also have a restaurant in SGV. If you order more than 2 combos, you can get rice refill for free.

Absolutely love this spot in San Gabriel and it's no different at this location as well. Perfectly tender lamb cuts every time with no gameyness! It's truly my guilty pleasure... every week LOL be sure to try the Shank + Rib combo then get it grilled on the next visit it's life changing!! We ordered the lamb shank, ribs, and skewers and all were delicious. My kids loved it as well! My kids are 11, 11, & 12. Staff were very friendly & we were seated right away. Restaurant was a bit small but it was not busy when we came and it was also clean. We will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others.

Very simple setting for such a delicious meal! The rest itself is small, bright and clean. You order using their QR code. The food itself was delicious! The lamb was so darn tender you just needed a fork. The seasonings were spot on yummy. We had the lamb served all three ways and honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. I myself liked the grilled shank the best. Loved their dipping seasoning so much I wanted to take it home! Don't forget to wash down your meal with their tea and for sure try their yogurt. The yogurt was just the right texture and sweetness!

We tried the deluxe meal with rice, lamb leg and 2 ribs, and in addition, with a side dish of lamb skewers. The flavor of the lamb/rice meal were very light and simple, doesn't need much additional seasoning. The lamb is not gamey at all, very good quality. The lamb skewers were also very delicious with toasted spices on the side to lightly coat the meat. It is a perfect snack after going to a brewery. The service was great and we didn't have to wait too long. The place wasn't too crowded since they just opened recently. Will most likely come back here for their special tea or yogurt along with more lamb. read more

Decent affordable lamb chop with rice and soup, I choose lamp shack instead of leg because worried if the meat is not tender as a safe choice, however the lamb is really tender and juicey so now I want to try the leg too. Get the lamb shack & leg combo. Soup is good, light onion taste just like those old time restaurant food always give you a soup so you won't get too dry. read more

This place is amazing! Literally the best Xinjiang-style lamb I've ever had in the entire country. It's juicy, fresh, and completely free of any gamy taste--perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. Everything is prepared with great care, even the house-made spicy sauce, which is freshly crafted with multiple ingredients. The owner is super nice and welcoming, yet humble and open to feedback from all customers. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. Keep it up! read more

A treasure restaurant hiding in the corner. Food is amazing, I have ever had any lamb tasty that good. Lamb without muttony taste, very tender and juicy. The rice cooked with carrots so you won't taste anything else but fresh and absorbed the special flavor from lamb. The side dishes from rice combo all made in house and perfect combination with the meat. The salty milk tea catch my eyes and it tastes so good. Nothing strong salty but more like original milk tea without sweetness. It is a must try because you don't find it anywhere else. The hot one tasty more silky than cold. The lamb kebab I ordered dine in and ordered two more orders to go, you know how I love it! Service is absolutely excellent, the owner serve the customer by themselves and he is proud of their meat quality. If you are a lamb lover you have to go this place, I was introduced by others and it is totally worth my 1.5 hour driving. I will recommend to everyone. read more

The food is amazing and so flavorful. Lamb shanks is very tender but still holds the texture. The rice is just impressive with the lamb meat flavor and some great herb scents! And they offer unlimited pickles and sides which is just the icing on the cake! Great owner too, he's very friendly and patient, explained all details about the dishes and how they cook it! And the cozy environment makes it feel like a friend's place when you dine in there! They just opened recently so no appointment needed when we visited this Saturday, but owners said it might get crowded near diner time, so pick your time and highly recommended to try this place! read more

Very friendly mom and pop restaurant. If you love lamb, you must try! The lamb is juicy and tender, but on the more creamy sides. I have nothing to complain about their food or service, everything was very good. It feels like a family business here. I just think their business can be even better if the menu can include more options. Also, the place feels like a fast food place more than a restaurant, the music was gentle and on low volume, which makes it a bit awkwardly quiet when it's not too busy inside. Small cozy nook with amazing smells from the lamb they prepare right when you walk in the front door. Staff was accommodating and very informative of their lamb regarding where it was sourced. I don't indulge in lamb due to the way it is normally cooked but this Asian take on lamb is pretty good. The spices are just right. And you can order the skewers as a meal combo. Tried this place for the first time. I ordered a lamb rack which comes with fried rice, soup, and sides (carrots, onion, and pickles). The lamb was slow cooked and it is so tender. The place is a little small but clean. Prices are a little expensive. Met the owner who was really nice. Will come back to try the other lamb options. read more

I've been coming for probably 30+ years as my dad got us Troy's as kids and I continue to come to…read morethis day. Not sure if ran by the same people but always try to get this once every few months or so as it was family owned (hopefully still is). Inflation is real though. Remember the cheeseburger special was like $10 or so. Nowadays it's $15 and upgraded to chili cheese fries so just shy of $29 after taxes. No wait when I got there and food came out hot and quick. Friendly staff. Ate inside. Food is always good. One of the best burgers I've had and continue to have. Hard to find a good "hole in the wall" burger but this place always hits the spot. Chili cheese fries were bigger than I expected and got onions on them. Chili is always amazing (usually split a chili dog with my dad). It filled me up but just wish the prices weren't as high, but I understand you gotta raise it due to price of food going up and rent. One thing I wish they brought back was their ground beef burrito. That was always spicy and hit the right spots when under the weather (cleared the sinuses).

I did notice both staff eventually were visibly on their phones. I was heading out, didn't particularly matter to me, but might for a customer walking in. The corridor to the bathroom was pretty neat though. Bathroom was also pretty clean.

The food was also great, I got a dozen oysters that were fresh and briny, my wife and I shared the Parker rolls, and we had sea bass and skirt steak that were each beautifully prepared and not too heavy. Funny enough if I had one note it would be that you couldn't cut the steak with the steak knives... because the steak knives were a little dull and not serrated. BUT we discovered you could easily cut the steak with a butter knife - that's how tender it was. Honestly while the food was great, the people who work here are the real sell. They're so cool and dang nice, we look forward to coming back!

if you enjoy lamb, this place has New Zealand lamb served with a seasoned rice. the lamb is excellent and there are small veggie sides to add to the rice and a hot pepper sauce to add if you like the heat. the owner was very welcoming and it took less than 5 minutes to get my order to go.
