Hubby and I came and enjoyed a nice BIG dinner. It's a laidback spot and definitely has an interesting demographic. Our waitress was okay I don't think she gets good pay/tips given the environment. She was kind,fast and efficient enough but I could tell she likely suffers from RBF and has to force a smile on and push through! She brought us a nice hot mixing bowl with "minestrone" which was tasty but like others have said, more like a chili or back burner soup. She also brought fresh warm bread and real butter. Needless to say I was full before my salad came. Salad was as others described small, but it's not needed to be any bigger with the food parade going on at the table! I ordered a fish dish Cajun, I believe it was red snapper. It was nicely prepared, tasted good and fresh, veggies were okay, nothing super special but mine were not plain or soggy like some others have said here. Meals here are full size and my plate also had a penne pasta with a hearty bolognese sauce. My husband ordered prime rib, huge and the horseradish was so strong! He really enjoyed it. It's been At least 5+ years since I've eaten here. Super affordable. The price is definitely unbeatable. Warm bread and water was served once we were seated. I got the extra cut prime rib for about $20 only. It came with Minestrone soup, salad, pasta, and fresh sauteed vegetables. The pasta was very flavorful. The prime rib had a very flavorful crust. For the price , I can not complain. Service was fast and friendly. Our server name was Karen. She's super friendly. You can order drinks from the bar. Just remember it's CASH ONLY. I definitely give a 20 star rating to this place I grew up here in Max old house is one of the best places to eat they have grub-a-dub-dub food and they have good specials and they have happy hour they have the right crowd which is everybody and they are a very welcoming crowd. What can I say. They are the BEST!!! Every meal is a delite. The steak dinner has to be my favorite. The price is great and the taste is plentiful. They also have the best shots/drinks in town. Boy, talkin bout an old house! Haha! Always hear about this place. I have a cousin that goes there all the time with her husband. Great steaks for the price! Probably the last business on earth that doesn't accept any form of payment other than cash. It felt a lil weird cuz of how old school and how traditional they kept it. Not what we expected but we can dig it and respect it, as long as the great prices hang around. We'll most definitely be back. First timers at Mac's for my boyfriend's bday dinner! It was packed upon arrival so we had drinks at the small but perfectly cozy bar while we waited to be seated which wasn't a long wait at all. Our waitress was super friendly and explained how everything worked, including the multiple course meal we were about to be served. The soup was delicious--served family style with a big bowl in the middle of the table--I'm sure we ate it all! Next was a small salad which we devoured and then came our entree: extra cut prime rib for the bday man and ribeye for myself. Both were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. No frills here just delicious home cooked style food in a family oriented environment without putting a dent on your pocket! My only complaint--the "office party" just across from us was super duper loud it was actually hard to hear ourselves speaking at times. I have read so much about this place that I had to try. On the Sunday during the Labor Day weekend, we were cruising around the delta heading home and passing Antioch. Early evening expecting a long wait, we were seated within 10 minutes. So far so good. The menu is limited and they do not accept credit card. The atmosphere lived up to its reputation as a dive bar and old fashion Italian restaurant. It's like time had stopped still. Wood panel walls, plaques on the wall and AC mounted on the windows. I had an image that this place was a old large restaurant rather an old house with limited parking. The place was crowd and loud. We were glad to be seated relatively quickly and placed our dinner order with drinks as soon as the waitress came by. All dinners come with bread, soup, salad, steamed vegetables and pasta. We ordered prime rib and ribeye dinners. It is like an old fashion Italian Restaurant. The bread was delivered warm with a very nice crust and soft inside. The soup is a minestrone served in a stainless steel bowl. Unfortunately, it reminded me of a chili recipe confused with minestrone and served in school cafeteria or prison. It was not terrible. Next came the salad. No frills greens in vinegette dressing. Nothing to get excited. No options, dressing choices or on the side, croutons or ground pepper. Finally the entree, for $13.95 per dinner, expectations were not high. The steamed veggie had probably been in the pot all day, the pasta is alright and the meat, surprisedly tender and flavorful. All in all, I would return if I'm in the neighborhood and hungry and hopefully the wait is short. Otherwise, I would agree with my dinning partner and girlfriend that she would go elsewhere like Back Angus for a reasonable price hunk of red meat. All I can say about this place is that it is a No from me. The medium prime rib we had was of poor quality and seems as if it was microwaved. So chewy and dry. The waitress was very nice and the bread was really good. Soup and salad was okay. Prices are cheap. This is an old school spot. A wisely limited menu includes prime rib, burgers, chicken breast fish, soup, salad, sandwiches, etc. I ordered the Cajun red snapper lunch. It came with a choice of soup or salad. I had the soup, which was a pretty tasty minestrone. The fish was excellent. I would order it again. The vegetables on the side were very good.
