Steak banh mi - very disappointing
    Alexandra D.

I ordered the steak banh mi and it was very disappointing. Sandwich was half empty, bread was stale and the meat was cold

When I'm tired from shopping in Union Square, I head to Macy's Cellar, located on the basement floor of Macy's. If you need some sugar to re-energize yourself, what better more can you ask for than to have Ben & Jerry's, Tom's Cookies, and Jamba Juice all next to each other! If that's not enough, you can take the elevator to Cheesecake Factory. They also have lunch places like Wolfgang Puck, Boudin, and a sushi bar, but the Cellar is so congested I prefer to come here to pickup sweets and eat at Union Square (when it's not raining).

I tried the regular croissant, the almond croissant, and the kouign-amann. My favorite was 100% the almond croissant. All were amazing but the flavors and textures were truly exceptional. The flakiness, the caramelization, the perfect balance of flavors. I wished I had ordered 10 more. Also, the staff were so kind, the line moved quickly, and bonus: all the items freeze exceptionally well!

I'd recommend going to that one vs this teeny tiny location. It's not a great representation of the Ariscault as a whole. I think we came here around 2 pm, so almost close to closing, but 90% of items were sold out. Yet there was still a huge queue. Why close so early and be out of stock so fast if ppl clearly still want croissants at 2 pm on a Saturday? Also, they forgot two croissants in our bag, and we turned around 30 seconds later and told them they're missing. They needed to "verify" our order, which made me feel like I'm a thief. I promise I'm not stealing when I already spent $37 there. I just want what I paid for!! Anyways, check out the other 2 locations if you're not a local who lives nearby, as they're much nicer.

I have been to Butter & Crumble two times now: once while waiting in line for an hour and a half, and the second time with one of their limited pre-ordered boxes that I got lucky enough to claim. First off, I want to say that I love how Butter & Crumble is not only a woman-owned business, but I also appreciate how you can definitely tell through its whimsical decor in their small storefront. While there is not any seating inside, there is still a lot of personality packed into the space with their pink disco croissant, pretty Instagram-worthy tiles, and the aesthetically pleasing transparent divider between customers and their working team (for patrons to watch the art of making a flaky pastry!). I truly appreciate how their menu changes every month and that all of the bakers who work there are able to showcase a specialty item. I was very bummed that I missed the prime rib and Dungeness crab pastries, so I'm hoping they bring them back again soon! Since I got a pre-order box during my last visit, the pastries were already pre-selected, so I was not able to choose what I wanted. Regardless, I was happy with the selection. I got some of their signature pastries, including: *Morty P Croissant: Salty pistachio pesto with mortadella meat, giving an Italian sandwich type of vibe. *Pistachio Cardamom Croissant: Generously filled with pistachio cream with a slight hint of cardamom. It was sweet and tasted like a cannoli, but with flaky butter pastry. *Mocha Cruffin: An excellent blend of both chocolate and espresso. It was really balanced and worked well with the cruffin shape. Mine leaked out a bit (it was stuffed more on top) and got everywhere, but I enjoyed the flavors. *Herby Olive Twist: Savory and cheesy from the Parmesan, and I enjoyed both the olive and olive oil flavors paired with flaky sea salt. Overall, do I recommend Butter & Crumble? Yes. However, I do want to call out that I wouldn't recommend waiting an hour and a half in line on a regular basis to get it, even though this spot is delicious.

With a crispy undercarriage and still somehow perfectly chewy melty, it had a great balance . I also got a chocolate chip cookie which was massive for the price, chewy and not too sweet. The service was quick but the out door seating was full today, which reflects the popularity of this quaint and highly popular location. Luckily it's a quick walk to the park and even through the extra distance, the pizza was still crispy and delicious.

I've always wanted to try this place since I see a line every time I walked by. There's a lot of foot and car traffic. It's definitely a busy area so expect to park in one of the nearby residential areas or be extremely and walk/bike/bus here! Upon stepping into the tiny shop, I was enveloped in the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies. It was tempting to put that in my bag, but I stuck with my game plan. They do self serve for all the baked goods and drinks except the pizza and focaccia. You tell the cashier what you grabbed. There's self serve complimentary water on the side too. Got a pecan swirl, one of each square focaccia flavors, and a half pizza (hot). The pizza flavor of the day was triple mushroom with sesame ginger garlic vinaigrette and mozzarella. It was 10/10 delicious!! Do note that they don't heat up the focaccia. Personally, after tasting everything, I'd say the pizza is more worth it than the focaccia "pizzas". The pecan roll was quite addicting too. You can also skip the line if you want to order online on their website and schedule a pick up time, but my gift card didn't work so I just waited in line.
