Wow, this location of Mags is beautiful. Such a great set up, and everything looks delicious in the donut window LOL. This one is definitely a step up from the other location in Irvine, although that location is the OG one. The worker here was really nice and patient as my friend and I took a while to contemplate which donuts we wanted. We ended u getting Old Fashioned Donuts, Glazed Raised Donuts, a Cinnamon Crumb Cake Donut, and a Nutella Cronut. You really can't go wrong with the Old Fashioned. So perfectly crispy and dense. I also really loved the Cinnamon Crumb Cake Donut and will definitely get this again when I return. I've been eyeing Mag's for weeks now, since I hike out at Quail Hill most weekends. Finally caved and I have to say: these donuts are the perfect ratio of price to quality! The cake donuts are perfect and the glaze is so thick and delicious. The cronut, while a bit pricier, had the perfect amount of custard and fresh strawberries! The fritter was HUGE and was full of apple, no skimping. My husband had the Bavarian creams and he was incredibly pleased with the quality of their custard. :) You can order online, select a pickup time, and all the options are very customizable to ensure you get exactly what you want. Ugh, Mag's; they are SO GOOD. we've gotten donuts, croissants, and coffee a couple of times and my favorite is the cinnamon roll (it's so moist) and my boyfriend always gets their chocolate boston cream. but the main show for us is their breakfast burritos. the burritos are PERFECT. i've lived in san diego and los angeles and am no stranger to a breakfast burrito, but mag's is the best. the eggs are fluffy, the bacon is thick and crispy, the cheese is melty, the sausage is juicy, the ham is salty, and the hashbrowns are on point. the salsa is mild but fresh and flavorful. they're wrapped in foil and then bagged or boxed up; pretty convenient as we usually pick these up before or after a hike or a trip to the beach, so they travel well and stay hot. currently for covid, they're allowing 3 people in their store at once. the drinks are to the right and all the food is behind glass. they also put up shields and have hand sanitizer out. i think they've been very responsible. they ask us to wait outside after we order and then someone brings your food out to you. staff has always provided great service and tbh, i am annoying; i ask questions about donuts every time as if it's my first time seeing a donut, but they've been great. read more

I was always curious about this location because I'd see a line out the door at times, but to be completely honest, I wasn't too happy with my first time experience. We walked in on a late afternoon and the female cashier was NOT very pleased to see us. She didn't have a smile at all and when helping us out, she didn't even seem like she wanted to be there. Overall, we just had very negative energy walking into the store. Additionally, the donuts are facing in area in front of the window where the sun beams down on them HARD on a hot day, which caused a lot of the donuts on display to already be half melted. I can't really blame the business for this entirely, as it's probably protocol to display the donuts in a specific spot - it's more of just an unlucky factor when it comes to placement and weather. Aeshetics-wise, the donuts did look delicious and I ended up ordering a Plain Chocolate Donut, but I wasn't very happy with the quality either. I'm not sure if I received an "older" donut or if this place was just a miss for me. Even Albertson's in the same plaza had a better tasting donut than this one, which makes me more sad. The staff that works here is super nice. They have done a great job adapting to COVID-19 to make it safe for customers. To note, right now only 2 customers are allowed in the shop. So when you walk up, take a quick peek at how many people are in there and wait outside if there is already 2 in the shop. Also, when a person is walking out, take a step back and let them get out first. Was happy to find out there was another mag's donuts in Irvine, as I hadn't been to one since the one on Culver before they remodeled. I came here after doing some quarantine shopping with a friend (social distancing of course!). I got a maple bacon donut (my fav), chocolate cereal donut and a Vietnamese iced coffee. I brought them home and wasted no time in getting to business. The maple bacon I'd give a solid 9/10. A good go-to donut anywhere you go, where few places lack the tiniest details to perfect it, Mags comes close, putting the right amount of maple to match the bacon, making the sweet and savory balance almost perfectly even. Once warmed up, it'll taste as though it's fresh and you made it yourself. The dough could be a little softer, making it lack that little pizzazz. Chocolate cereal: 8/10. Can't go wrong with chocolate frosting meets Captain crunch cereal donut. Once warmed up in the microwave the frosting melts while eating it, making it a warm melting circle of happiness. Why it's not a 10 is because the donut itself seems to have glazing on the bottom layers, making for a too sweet factor in an all around sugary delicacy. Vietnamese iced coffee: 6/10. What tastes like many other Vietnamese coffees in that the espresso is really strong, as well as it coming to a good price and size at 3.50, it does taste a little watered down. Donuts and coffee have been a staple to go together since they were made, however this pairing I would not recommend as the taste of coffee feels like it's been applied to NyQuil and puts you to sleep. Overall cannot complain and will definitely come back here when I'm able to go to Starbucks to study again read more

New location, still the same great taste. Mag's offers so many donut choices that whenever I get my usual dozen it makes me want to order more! Buuuuut you can never go wrong with the classics! Their chocolate bar/crullers/blueberry donuts never disappoint. And don't get me started on their sprinkle cake donuts - my kiddos loooooove the tiny candy pearls that Mag's adds. Y'know, that extra touch of bling that lures in suckers like me for a pretty donut! Ha Location should be easy to find - right next to Starbucks. Lots of parking as well as it's located in the Quail Hill shopping area. The only thing that I find strange is that they don't post the pricing of their donuts on their fancy tv screen monitors. I decided to give this spot a shot. I heard their breakfast works burrito was good here from my cousin. Needless to say I went there and got 4 works breakfast burrito. It ended up being around 48 bucks. Roughly $12.00 a piece. I tipped them ~$8.60 (18%) . Okay 1st off why are you asking for tip. Usually when you tip you're suppose to return the favor and hook it up. This place was being cheap. They actually down size our burrito, look at my picture. My sister worked with Peter at Mag's donuts and he ended up being the coolest guy who puts his customers first! I tasked my sister with planning our gender reveal for our family. This baby is the first grandchild for both sides so my sister was really intentional to create a gender reveal that was special for me and my husband. She knows we love donuts so she called all these different donut shops to see if they would do pink or blue colored cream filled donuts for our gender reveal and she received No's from everyone EXCEPT Peter! Peter admitted that custom donuts was not what they typically do but he went above and beyond to create something special for my sister - our entire family - and it was so fun and yum!! Low and behold - Peter and his staff stuffed donuts with pink cream filling and made sure the stuffing holes were covered in white cream so the secret would only be revealed when we bit into the donut!!! Anyone that knows me knows that I love donuts. Like I LOVE donuts. It's an unfortunate addiction as I keeps me from achieving washboard abs. Anyhow, these guys/gals do donuts right. The bread in the yeast donuts are nice and fluffy and the amount of glaze is perfect. I particularly like their chocolate twists. Typically, places do not put enough chocolate and I end up chopping off the bottom of the donut to reduce the amount of bread. Mags has the perfect ratio. My other three go-to donuts are glazed twists, apple fritters, and glazed blueberry donuts. All are legitimately awesome. If you're gonna get you some donuts though, get here early. I can't stress enough how much I love this family business and location specifically. (And I lived in France for awhile too visiting many cafes and bakeries.) First off, the donuts, pastries, croissants, and breakfast burritos (specifically the turkey ham) are magnificent, hands down. My mom is extremely sensitive to sweet stuff but she really likes the croissants and blueberry donuts here. It's not too sweet and has great texture. Second of all, the staff. Every time I come here, they're always GENUINELY friendly, helpful, and natural. *Personal Experience* TLDR; Female staff protected me. A few nights ago, there was a creepy stranger by the Starbucks area who said something about my behind. I quickly went into the store and asked the girl behind the counter for a weird favor which is to see if there's anything behind me. I told her what happened and she said she can give me a couple of donuts to walk out with as if I'm here to buy them and see if I wanted to stay in there a bit longer to wait him out. I thought that was really sweet and protective of her!! That kind of gesture was really human if you think about it. Three stars are for the donuts. Pretty good, not too greasy, great variety and decent flavor. I also had the sausage and egg sandwich on an everything bagel and the taste was decent, though I was surprised it was most $8. Unfortunately, I popped in here recently to grab a blueberry bagel to take home for later and, once the guy remembered me and brought it out (yeah, it took 5 minutes for them to grab me a bagel), I was surprised it find it was cold. Hmmm. Once in the car I pulled it out to find a lump of bready sadness. My bagel was torn and smashed, with bits of other bagels smashed into it. Blargh. I ended up binning this sad bagel in front of Brueggers, where I went to get a real bagel. See photos and I'm sure readers will be able yo tell the difference between bready sadness vs a real bagel.
