It's o e of my favorite dishes to make, so I admit I'm picky about it, but it is just so so good when it's done right. There was hardly any eggplant in this dish today. Way too heavy on the tahini. When mixed in beef shawarma it was a little more ok. The beef was pretty good. I asked for it on top of a fattoush salad. The salad was not good. The dressing was premixed and it was not flavorful. No taste of pomegranates or lemon. Very soggy. I will eat here again for sure. It's a wonderful family place. We went here on a Sunday afternoon right after church. We were the first ones there and it never got too crowded during our stay. The food was okay. I was looking for good schwarma and was somewhat disappointed. I had the beef schwarma plate. It wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't great. My wife had the beef schwarma sandwich. She liked it a lot. One of my daughters had the falafel sandwich, which she liked. Another had the chicken schwarma plate, which was almost inedible, the chicken was so dry/hard. We also had the vegetarian platter as an appetizer, which we gave mixed reviews. The tabouli was excellent. The hummus and baba ganoush were both very good. The pitas, though, left a lot to be desired. They did not seem to be made in house, though I wouldn't swear to that. The service was VERY slow. This was the best Middle Eastern food I've had in St. Louis by far. We started with the Baba Ghanoush, which was so light and fresh, and the Fattah, which was very flavorful (almost like a warm hummus with whole chickpeas). Wow this place on the outside may not look enticing but it is FOR SURE a place to go! It is a family owned business and everyone there is super nice and helpful. They have enormous portion sizes that my lunch is now my dinner! Baba Gonoush: This was super delicious and wonderfully plated. If you have not had this before it is NOT hummus. It has a different flavor palete that is light and has the texture of cottage cheese. it comes with veggies on the side and a full basket of pita bread for dipping. Roast Leg of Lamb: So delicious and fall of the bone. HUGE portion size. It pairs perfectly with the rice. The thing about this dish is that there is not a very strong lamb flavor, which I personally enjoy. It comes with a nice acidic salad on the side that also is to die for. You get a bowl of lentil soup to start and that is not mentioned in the menu, but it too was super delicious and deserves a shout out. I would for sure recommend this dish! Beef Kefta over Rice: Super good as well, reminded me a little bit of meatloaf. It was nice and tender and seasoned to perfection. It came with a pairing of a different kind of basmati rice and the same delicious salad. Also came with a fire charred tomato and onion, wonderful presentation. Drinks: Arabic Coffee: Not quite my cup of coffee, definitely an acquired taste but comes with a tea tray and beautiful presentation. The waiter assured me this is authentic Arabic coffee and doesn't taste like American at all, but worth a shot if you are on the lookout for something new. Tea: Authentic Syrian tea, also came with cute presentation and a box of sugar cubes. This was very good and unlike any other tea I've ever had. Beautiful amber color. Baklava: Been on the lookout for some good baklava and this definitely fit the bill. It comes in a pack a 3 and covered in sugary goodness. I would not recommend if you are sensitive to sugar or allergic to nuts. It is rolled and round, unlike the other ones I've had that are geometrically shaped. The filo sheets come off like paper, would 100% recommend saving room by boxing up your meal and getting dessert! read more

Great addition to the neighborhood! Excellent food and great prices. My wife and I went for dinner and got 2 entrees and an appetizer for a total of about $35 (with tax and tip), and we had a lot of leftovers to take home. As we were checking out the waiter gave us a complementary dessert, which was a nice extra! The service was a little disorganized, but it's a new restaurant and we were there on a fairly busy Friday night, so I'm sure that will improve. In any case we'll definitely be back. We used to live in Berlin in a neighborhood with a lot of great Middle Eastern restaurants, and this is the closest thing we've found in St. Louis, in terms of both price and quality. read more

It's hard to describe how happy I am to have this gem of a restaurant in the neighborhood. The food is simply incredible. Fresh, beautifully prepared, made in-house, using natural ingredients to the greatest extent possible. The portions are generous and the price is affordable. The food: Baba Ganoush- the dish was very fresh and had a wonderful light smoky flavor to it, which was complemented​ by the sprinkle of sumac on top. It was thoughtfully plated and looked lovely. It tasted amazing and was served with a basket of plenty of warm, fresh pita bread. It was ample for my husband and me to share. Falafel Sandwich- like the baba ganoush, it is clear that the falafel is made fresh​ in-house. I am very picky about falafel, having lived for several years in cities with tons of restaurants from various regions that serve it. And this one is fabulous. I can honestly say this is the best falafel I have had in the U.S. and among the best I have ever had. And at $3.49, it is an incredible deal. Chicken Shawarma​- the chicken was very flavorful and fresh. It had the most interesting complexity of flavor I have had in renderings​ of this dish. It was served on top of rice that was beautifully prepared. The plate also included a delicious toasted pita that had onions and a little sauce inside, a side of fabulous garlic sauce, and a salad. Halawet el Jibn (dessert)- the owner suggested this dessert and I am so grateful to him for introducing it to me! It is a light dough wrapped around a cheese filling (somewhat similar to a ricotta​), topped with a sprinkling of crushed pistachios. I think some component had rosewater in it, as the whole thing had this wonderful light, floral flavor. Even the aftertaste was this light, fresh lingering taste. Seriously,​ try this. The service: I believe the person who served us was one of the owners. He was very helpful and attentive, without unnecessary interruptions. He offered great recommendations. As we spoke with him before leaving, he mentioned that they will soon be expanding the menu, adding some non-alcoholic cocktails, expanding the selection of desserts, and possibly adding a hookah section outside during the summer. When I moved into my new house a few months ago, my son had Majeed's delivered for me since I was exhausted from the move and couldn't find anything like a plate or a fork amongst all the boxes anyway. I was amazed at how good the food was. He sent me hummus, lamb kabob, pita break, cucumber salad and rice. It all had so much flavor, I have been looking forward to going into the restaurant for another meal when things settled down a bit. Last night I was finally able to do that. I ordered the lamb kabob and it was a flavorful as I remembered it from the first time. The salad that came with it was fresh and crisp. The sauce in the cup was so delicious, I ate what was left with a spoon after dipping all of my lamb in it. I was looking forward to a five star experience, but sadly, I'm pretty sure the waitress forgot I was there. She did swing by shortly after another person served me my dinner and from about 15 feet across the room, asked if my food was good. Geeez, I really dislike that maneuver in a server. It makes me feel like everyone is going to be looking at me to see how I answer. After that, never heard from her again. I waited for about 15 or 20 minutes after finishing my meal and finally concluded in exasperation that they must not bring your check to your table at this establishment, so I gathered my things and went up to the register where she was sitting comfortably and asked to pay my bill. No apology. No, "thank you." The only thing she said was, "Did you like our food?" I did see a lot of people come to the counter for pick-up only. That's what I'll do next time too. The food was pretty good, but there was no flavor to the rice on our shawarma platters. The chicken was tasty, however, there was very little of it. The vegetables were nice and fresh, and the sour pickles were a nice addition. They had the front doors standing open in 40 degree, windy weather - it was VERY COLD inside. I had to ask the waiter and the manager to close the door. There was no heat in the dining area, so it was a pretty miserable temperature for dining. We had to move tables twice, because the first table was under speakers that played music so loud that we couldn't hear each other. The second table had a broken seat. My husband and I ordered sodas, and received cans of Pepsi, for which we were each charged $2.50. There was no beverage listing or price guide on the menu. Our server did not check on us, during the meal; we had to approach the manager to pay our tab. Best of all, there were two drugged out prostitutes, maybe 5 yards from the door, smoking weed. We just came back home from an excellent dinner. We mixed eight types of appetizers because we wanted to try a bit of everything and everything was super tasty. We ordered some seconds. The sauces and little salads that went with the appetizers were delicious as well. We left nothing on our plates! Desserts are vey sweet so we shared one for four of us. This was a pleasant find for my friend and I. The food is spectacular, the menu is solid, the staff treats you like family, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We got the vegetarian platter which comes with hummus, babaganoush, falafel, and pita. I honestly do not think I have had better hummus or babaganoush in the states. Seriously, you could eat the hummus alone. This is not an experience I have ever had here, much less in St. Louis. The falafel was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside with flavor throughout. I was at work the other day and heard some people talking about the lack of five star restaurants in St. Louis. Absolutely fabulous! Large portion sizes and the food is delicious. Last year my wife and I lived in Potsdam, just outside Berlin (shout-out to that other Yelper who seems to have done something similar.) Anyway, this is a spot-on replica of some of the restaurants in the city. Even the service felt authentic -- overseas, they tend to leave you alone until you motion for them. Personally I like it like that. No conversations are interrupted. We talked with the owner as we left and he said they'll be expanding the menu very soon. Great! Fair pricing, I got the falafel sandwich and it was very good. The right amount of veggie/sauce/falafel ratio and the falafel was clocked very well. This was a great lunch choice for my fiance and I today. We ordered the kibbe as an appetizer, which was delicious and moist and came out pretty quickly. For the main courses we had the leg of lamb, which was very tender, and the beef schwarma which was also very good. The wait times weren't horrendous either for what was obviously high quality food, but I imagine the sandwich options would be quicker if you're on the run.
