This restaurant is huge and has a bar. The menu seems to be part Mexican, part Chinese, part seafood. Ordered the shrimp Mambo and it was delicious, slightly spicy with lots of garlic in a buttery sauce. I got a burger and a family meal to go and they took forever my burger came out first, and I waited about 20 mins and everything else started coming after after still had to wait 10 minutes after the fish was done to get my shrimp. When I got home I noticed my burger had some purple onion and carrots in it. It was weird then I looked in it and it looked like they threw salad in it for the lettuce but every couple of bits I got some carrot in my burger. Also, you'd assume the tartar sauce would be cold but it wasn't. It was in little packs. My brother and I stopped by last week to try this restaurant for the first time. The hostess was very welcoming which made us feel gteat as soon as we entered the front doors. I got the fried fish plate and the fish was good. The battery had a unique taste. The plate comes with 3 filets which I thought would be too much food, but the fillets are small. My brother ordered the salmon balls and they were really tasty and served with a unique sauce. The restaurant is very nice and clean. It is hidden off of Goliad Rd but since they placed a Big Sign on the side of the road, it was then easy to determine what driveway I needed to take to get there. read more

So the first order of fried fish fillet with 6 fried shrimp, #1 on the menu was alright, fries ok too. But my buddy I ordered ceviche and we didn't like the order, which we ordered incorrectly ourselves (so our faults), but the manager came over and took it off our bill and heard our concerns and actually gave us a free ceviche, which is the one we actually wanted, and it was really good. My family and I dined at Mambo's tonight and we were so impressed with not only the food, but also the service and the prices. The food is delicious. We highly recommend the salmon bites, corn, and empanadas for the appetizers. They were all so good. We enjoyed the fried shrimp, fried rice, and the grilled shrimp. The server was extremely attentive and the assistant manager and manager came over to check on us more than once. This was a little bit of a far drive for us but we will definitely be back. Went by Mambos on City Base for carry out, wait time was 40 minutes and I ordered plates and a boil. The plates came out first and were sitting there for 15 minutes before the boil came out, checked the plates and the food was cold already. The girl asked if I wanted them made again and I told her no, that it would take another 30 to 40 minutes and by then my boil would be cold. Got to the car and they had forgotten to put my large fries in the bag and had to go back in to wait again. This is unacceptable, we had bad service back in January and I thought I would give them a 2nd chance and I was so wrong to have even considered it. I've had a few good experiences at Mambo Seafood in the past. However, today's salmon was overcooked and I was puzzled by my side salad being served in a small ice cream dish. The server seemed a bit puzzled by it too. But she said that that's the way they serve it. I'll return for another meal in the future, but I'll pass on the silly salad serving. read more

Went and tried this restaurant about a week ago. I had the fish and shrimp plater and it was ok. I felt the shrimp could of been larger and I would like them to be deveined which mine weren't. I don't spend much time in the south side but i was looking for an easy place to eat after running errands in the area and I found this place. Upon entering the vibe felt welcoming. I ordered fried rice and it came out so quickly and was delicious. I was also pleasantly surprised when the manager came out to greet me and chat with me for a bit. It looked like they were pretty busy but he still made the time. He was very pleasant and made me feel welcomed, like I was part of the Mambo family. We had a party of 4 with our server Lorena who was very sweet & attentive. We ordered their "famous" Mambos rice, grilled fish & shrimp, grande shrimp, fish tacos & calamari. Our appetizer, the calamari was extremely over cooked & rubbery where half of the order couldn't be eaten. Lorena kindly had it taken off the bill. The famous rice was not so famous, it was very dry and had no taste I had three bites & was done. The fish tacos were terrible, the fish was dry, & tasteless, the tortilla's were soggy & the slaw also terrible. He removed the fish & ate them with some cocktail sauce leaving everything on the plate that should've made it a taco. The grilled fish & shrimp were bland, overcooked & tough. The grande shrimp scampi was tasty but again the shrimp were overcooked & tough. I was taken back when i got home and saw that the 20% tip should've been $14.59 but the auto 20% tip showed $16.87. In closing, my husband said the best part of the meal was the ice cold beer! No plans to return. read more

Just went there tonight for the first time. Place was neat and clean. Service was ok, however We weren't impressed. Had bacon wrapped shrimp, fries and salad. Plate looked appealing however didn't have good flavor. My friend had the shrimp and fish. We asked what fish it was. Basa Fish is from South Asia. Shrimp definitely not Texas gulf shrimp. I have never not tipped a server before. The service was atrocious the server called my coworker a bitch! We asked for separate checks and she said, "I hate when yall ask for seperate checks it's such an inconvenience." I'm almost positive she forgot to put the order in the food took almost an hour and a half. There were only 10 patrons in the restaurant and only one other table had ordered after us. The server brings the check to the table gives us pens and tells us to annotate which order was ours! We were her only table party of 4! We proceed to the front after waiting another 30 min and she had charged everyone with the wrong thing we tried to explain to her and she replied do I need to take you to school? Not sure what that was suppose to mean but she again reminded us that we were such an inconvenience! The food was ok the rice was good the fish tacos were dry but maybe I couldn't taste with the bad taste in my mouth from this terrible service. This restaurant deserves better FIRE ERIKA! read more
