Order take out told me food was gonna be ready in 15 min! It was ready on time! Good was delicious. We order the 3 delight Kung pao, chicken fried rice and orange chicken! This place has been my go to since golden garden closed. I wish their eggrolls had pork and shrimp but the dumplings are fantastic. I also wish they would cook their vegetables more thoroughly. They are always crunchy but fresh! The owner is super nice and I believe it's her family helping, they are also very nice. My wife and I got take out from here a few nights ago. The food was great. My only complaint was the wait time. They told us the food would be ready in 20 minutes and got there 20 min later and had to wait in the lobby for and 10 min or so. Not the biggest deal in the world. But nonetheless the food is as great and I guess that's the point :) read more

Love this place. We used to go to Edna Ray in Willow Glen before it closed and spent a year trying to find a replacement. Mandarin House comes very close. The people who run the restaurant even know the former owners of Edna Ray. All in all, I think the food is excellent... and they have Changsha chicken, which I've had trouble finding. We often get mandarin beef, sesame chicken, tangerine chicken, pot stickers and hot and sour soup. I wish the soup was more brothy and a few additional vegetables, like mushrooms, but it's still very good. read more

Salt and pepper fish fillet was extremely seasoned well. I definitely recommend it. I also loved the chili chicken. It was not too spicy, but it was crunchy and the flavor was delicious. After the Chinese restaurant near our home closed we had to find a new eatery. After several visits to various restaurants we found this location. I give this restaurant 5 stars because of the fresh ingredients and excellent sauces. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Jenny, the owner, works hard and is very nice. My husband and I went here for dinner after being out and I suggested we try it since it had been a long time since I had been there. There was only one other table occupied by a family and a couple who ordered take out there. The servers were nice but we never got asked if we needed anything else or how our food is. The server socialized with the table who had the family sitting there and another customer who came in after us. One other family and couple came in while we were there and got their food quicker even though they had to have something changed for the ingredients in their soup. We ordered 4 items to have for dinner. Egg Rolls: no taste to the rolls or sweet and sour sauce, and hardly any filling; they were crispy though Hot and Soup: no taste at all and nothing really in it General Tso's Chicken: cut into thin strips and crispy outside (but it didn't taste like it had any chicken inside the coating); there wasn't any sauce really on it or heat like it's indicated or how other places make it' when it was served the top layer was luke warm Dry Sautéed String Beans: these were hot when served and tasted pretty good until we got to the bottom of the pile where it was all onions, and full of soy sauce which was overpowering read more

I've been trying to find a decent Cantonese style Chinese restaurant in South SJ for the longest time. This one made the list, even though it seems to have Vietnamese employees working there. Food is good but for $$. That's okay with me as long as I found something I like. I had the Hong Siu Tofu, salt and pepper fish, and the Phoenix seafood - veggie dish. A little disappointed that the seafood did not come with the nest that I was looking forward to, but the dish was still good. Our Red Hat group met at Mandarin House last January and was very pleased with the food, service, and price. Since then, I often stop by to order for pick-up when I am shopping in Princeton Plaza, and continue to be pleased with this restaurant. Finally- a good Chinese restaurant near Almaden. House special chow mein was excellent, with lots of wok hei flavor. Chili chicken was fabulous- exploding with chili and garlic flavor. This place has the best Chinese food I have ever tasted! There isn't a single thing I've gotten from here that I didn't enjoy. It always makes ordering more difficult when they have so many of my favorites to choose from. They are always so nice when I walk in. I always order to go, and they have it ready for me in a timely manner every time. They are a bit on the pricier side, but you get quality food for what you pay for. It's worth it to me to spend the extra $$$ when I know I'm getting what I want every time. Not to mention, the portions are crazy big! I always have yummy leftovers for the next day. read more
