Friday night was busy here. There were patio seatings which were basically small tables put outside of the restaurant. The table was small and space limited. The spot my friend and I were sitting was tilted so it wasn't a comfortable experience. It's a family run business and the servers were really friendly. I would probably give a 4 stars for the food though. I love the seafood tofu soup- highly recommend it. The spicy and sweet fried chicken wings were also good. It's packed here tonight but the service is still stellar. The staff here are not missing a beat and have an extra eye out. It's very impressive. A beautiful day brings many tourists to the park and neighborhood locals like myself out to enjoy our good weather. I been here 4 times in the last 3 weeks because of one dish and it is the Cold Buckwheat Noodles. My newest obsession. There is something about this dish, even in cold weather, it warms your soul. Ha! Dramatic, I know. It is refreshing, very light, alil tart but sweet and savory at the same time. Make sure you ask for vinegar, pour some in and it will be amazing. Only thing missing is some sliced pears. I know Manna has been a staple for some many SF residents and I understand by but I hate waiting. If there is a line, you know something is good. A very cute and small restaurant, it'll definitely be a tight fit but that's in part of the popularity of the place. In the hour we were here, the tables were continuously filled. The staff were also very hospitable. The portions were shareable, this order was split between three. The soy garlic wings were a knockout favorite. It had a very good combo of sweet and tangy and it's served quickly so despite the sauce, the chicken remained crispy. Unfortunately, the bbq chicken was a bit dry and lackluster. My friends and I ended up dipping the chicken into the sauce of the wings which saved the meal. One of my friends picked this place since both of us never been here before. We went here on a Friday around 4:12pm and there was no wait! This restaurant is very small, so I was surprised there was no wait. Anyways, once we got seated, they quickly gave us our banchan items. After that, we ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice, Korean Seafood Pancake, and Bul Kogi (the Bul Kogi comes with rice). Ok so overall, all the food was good and the flavor was there, BUT the Bul Kogi was a bit dry compared to what I'm used to. The Kimchi Fried Rice was good too, but also not what I'm used to when it comes to fried rice since it was more on the moist side. I also have a low spice tolerance, so it was a bit too spicy for me, but it wasn't a problem for my friend. Then we tried the Korean Seafood Pancake and that was the highlight for us! It had a good amount of seafood pieces, and the thickness of the pancake was good too. I'd recommend this place since the food tasted good. The food portions here are huge and we ended up only finishing half of each item. It's also a small restaurant, so the tables here are only about 1 or 2 inches apart, which I know some people wouldn't like. Solid option for Korean comfort food but would not recommend sitting outside on a cold day because their heat lamps do not work well :( We sadly made the mistake and were freezing for the whole dinner and couldn't be moved inside because of the long line. The tteokbokki sauce was really good, decently spicy, and came packed with veggies which I loved. Soondubu was quite spicy and came with a good amount of meat. Both went really well with bowls of rice (free). Seafood pancake was pretty good but i've had better (it was slightly burnt and needed a bit more flavor) - good amount of seafood packed into it though, and the sauce was great. Free banchan, but it came out at the same time as the food we ordered, which was a bit weird. Service was quite slow and we weren't checked on for the entire meal until the end (maybe because of our outdoor seating, we were forgotten) but the workers are all very nice. I must've ordered the wrong thing here because this place is so highly rated and gets pretty crowded around peak dinner time, yet I didn't have a great experience. I ordered the soft tofu soup with beef and a side of rice. The tofu soup was very disappointing because the soup was very watery and bland. There were only 3 decently sized pieces of tofu and barely any beef in the soup. Also, the menu didn't mention that there are green onions in the soup, so I had to pick out each individual piece of green onion due to my allergy. Went to Manna on a Friday night at 6:45 PM. There was a slight wait but only around 15 minutes. They also provide you with a menu when you're close to being seated and even take your order beforehand so when you get seated, you do not have to wait long to receive your food. We absolutely loved our experience here! There is indoor and outdoor seating. When you write your name on the waiting list, you can put a preference. Even though the outdoors may be cold, they do have large heaters above to keep you warm. The service was wonderful! The servers were extremely nice and attentive. The food was delicious!!! And for the price, absolutely worth it. The meats were very tender and flavorful. The pancake comes with sauce on the side to dip which adds the right amount of flavor. The seafood tofu soup and seafood pancake were both packed with flavor and protein. Personally, I loved the Galbi and Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings. So much flavor and so tender and juicy!!!!! There are not many Korean restaurants in SF that serve yukdaejang. Manna's yukdaejang is traditional, packed with veggies and meats, and always satisfies my cravings. In addition to their Korean soups like yukdaejang and tofu soup, they also have delicious side dishes and really good KBBQ meats! I really enjoyed their short rib, as it was super tender and flavorful. Manna can get really busy on the weekends but that shouldn't stop you from going! Service is great, and their line moves fast. Came here for dinner after visiting the Academy of Sciences and De Young Museum at ~5:40 pm on a Saturday. There were still two empty tables left inside and we were able to snag one. The place is small and semi-quaint so it would fill up fast. There are seatings outside accompanied by heaters, however, I did notice the tables are smaller outside compared to the tables inside. We ordered: - Seafood Dolsot Bibimbap, which was a nice filler for the table. Even without the bibimbap sauce added, the seafood did a nice job flavoring the rice. - Bibim Naengmyeon, which surprised me with how flavorful it was. However, we were not provided scissors (which is what I usually expect when eating cold noodles), so do prepare for a lot of struggling with long noodles when sharing this dish. - Soy Sauce Chicken Wings. This was a star. The sauce was balanced between sweet and salty soy. At first, I did not understand why this dish came with a bowl of rice, however after tasting the sauce, I fully understood. Mixing the sauce with the white rice was a dream. The chicken wings were crispy even after sitting in the sauce for a while. I even enjoyed eating the bulbs of garlic that was plated with the chicken. The side dishes were pretty average. But I do appreciate the Kimchi being not overly tart/sour and the sweetness added to the fishcakes made it special and different. The food here was good. However, do prepare for a wait. After being seated and the last tables (inside and outside) were snagged up, I noticed parties beginning to wait outside within the 15 minutes we were seated and looking at the menu. Since it was so busy, they gave us the menus while waiting so we could decide and get our food sooner once we sat down. The banchan here was fine, nothing special, but they refilled them for us so we never ran out. The waitstaff were very attentive and kept our water pitcher full as needed. Hands down one of my favorite Korean restaurants in the city. Manna serves a wide variety of Korean dishes from tofu stews, chicken wings, kimchi fried rice, to even naengmyeon! *KALBI* -- $29.99 (weekend price) I was craving Kalbi (short rib) and I was legitimately so shocked at how delicious it was. Each piece was so tender and well marinated, with a sweet and savory flavor and a slight charred bbq taste. Honestly on par with the kalbi I've had in LA ktown. *KIMCHI JIGGAE* -- $16.99 (weekend price) The Kimchi Jiggae also really shocked me, because it had a smoky depth to complement the spicy tangy flavors. There was a decent amount of pork slices, kimchi and tofu in the stew too. *BANCHAN* Loved the Banchan (side dishes) variety too: garlicky potatoes, broccoli, bean sprouts, fish cake, and kimchi. *SERVICE* Service was quick and to the point, it's a small establishment so it's easy to get a sever's attention! *PRICES + LUNCH MENU* Definitely on the pricey side compared to Korean food in LA, but I'm also not surprised considering SF doesn't have too many Korean restaurants. It's a quieter neighborhood so I actually really enjoyed the peace and quiet. I got the dolsot bibimbap and my friend got the spicy pork. Quality food. Super nice servers. Overall good time. The banchans were all delicious as well. The bibimbap is always enough to last two meals for me. As someone who is weak to spiciness, I didn't find the pork or the gochujang sauce to be too spicy. Stopped by on a Sunday, my 2nd time here, and place was "just" full, with a constant stream of customers that would appear right as tables were opening up. They do not take reservations, it is first come, first serve which is no problem because although a small space, the restaurant staff works quickly and efficiently to turn the tables around and get as many guests in as possible. There was both indoor and outdoor seating (we sat outdoors due to no wait time and heat lamps). The service so good and fast we ordered almost immediately and were given water and complimentary appetizers (as pictured) The food was very spicy for all of us and delicious flavors throughout. Just alright. This place gets busy and it doesn't have a ton of seating. After eating here I'm not sure I get what all the hype is about. Their kalbi and jabchae/japchae were the better dishes of the four we ordered. There was some strange flavor to the soy sauced chicken wings that I couldn't put my flavor on. I usually love fried chicken including Korean Fried Chicken but I could only eat two pieces. The cold noodles were good. We also ordered a Sprite. They gave us the can and a glass without any ice. Usually I'd be sad without ice, but I spotted a shard of broken glass at the bottom of the glass before my husband poured Sprite into it. The glass itself didn't seem broken or chipped.
