We had an horrific experience! Just so you guys know, Maple Street (since 2019!) is owed by the same company that owns Cracker Barrel. I always say how hard is it to mess up breakfast...but they did!!!!!! Cold, cold, extremely cold food! We were only 1 of 2 tables at 11:15, on Thursday August 28th. Our food sat on a shelf in the kitchen for 10 minutes. Breakfast is NOT tasty when served cold! We both ordered the Retro Breakfast, mine Sunny-side eggs, my friend's scrambled. All of our food had way too much black pepper, where I love pepper... this was too much. My friend's eggs had so must pepper they looked gray. And her eggs were so overdone, dry like rubber. The biscuit flat & COLD! I had gravy on my biscuit that was gloopy, COLD! One & Done! Where the maple wood on the walls was a nice touch, the rest of the decor was as cold as the food. The men and women working here are so friendly! We were greeted very warmly, and the host even offered to walk us through the menu! This was a very nice surprise for a fast casual/counter order establishment. I ordered the Five & Dime sandwich. It was huge! I had to cut it up with a fork and knife LOL. My husband had the other half. Not yet a 5 star rating due to the mix up of my chai latte order! My coworker initially took me to brunch here, where I had heard no reviews and came in empty-handed. As a picky eater, I was put off by the menu, only finding one or two things I would enjoy (little grace [no whip cream and powder sugar] and the egg & biscuit) here. Walking in (it's quite cold), there were about 2-7 other people. The 90 minutes we were there, at 11:30 on a Sunday. A lovely older lady took our order very sweetly and with care (reminded me of my southern grandmother in the best way, albeit a little difficult to understand). Inside the place itself, it's kind of self-serve. They have napkin holders and condiments by the drink machines (not already provided on the tables, the tables are empty). The food was a little disappointing, given that they didn't come with sides unless you added them on for an extra charge. The food took about ten minutes to come out. The food was... warm. More later. I don't drink coffee (significant indication coming), but my coworker ordered the Honey Maple Cold Brew, which is exceptionally delicious... for one sip. After that, it's pure unfiltered cane sugar... a teenager says it's too sweet. Now, the food, the little grace, was mediocre (kids will love it still, don't worry). The waffle was more crust than batter, the strawberries were fresh, which is always a plus since I find most places use puree, and it lacked the chocolate chip component, I'm sorry to say. The biscuit, however, was immaculate, reminding me of the home-cooked biscuits my Great Uncle would make. It was delicate and airy, absolutely sensational. However, unfortunately, they did not serve grape jelly (my singular preference), but it was still a delicious, succulent, buttery biscuit. I came in on grand opening weekend. Ordered a Five & Dime with a fried egg. The biscuit was great, chicken had great flavor and the gravy had a nice kick to it. Service was great, all workers seemed super attentive to all needs. One issue was the temperature of my food. I did order it for carry out and consumed my order 2-3 minutes afterwards and it was lukewarm. Cool enough for the gravy to begin setting. Second issue is the price. I'm not sure if it's just a sign of the times but $14 for this wasn't worth it. I'm a fan of trying new places but this seems too exorbitant to me to eat at on the regular. read more

Also note, this is mostly subjective; your experience may be different. What we liked: Wonderful variety of flavors and items to choose from that differ from the "norm" Who knew I would like savory mushrooms for breakfast? Nice location Fast service, polite crew What we were not thrilled with (in no order): Expensive overall but also to note, the Retro plate says it comes with your choice of jelly or gravy, then you scroll down and the gravy actually costs an additional $2.25 for a miniscule amount. That seemed a bit misleading to us. It was delicious though! The portions were quite small and the to go containers were unnecessarily enormous. The Keto Bowl was supposed to have goat cheese on top but I only found 2 tiny little chunks of it. The scrambled eggs seemed artificial and if you like fluffy eggs, I do not recommend. They were dry, flat, and had way too much pepper on them. They looked like dirt was mixed in while cooking tbh. All in all, we probably won't be back but everyone should try it at least once. read more

I was so excited to come here but it turned out to be a bit disappointing but, let's start with food. I got the kids biscuit and gravy which for me was pretty good not the kids. The portions were decent, not too much and not too little.i got myself the retro plate, the smashbrown was bland. The bacon was alright. Husband got the five and dime with chicken fried steak. It looked delicious but it was not as great as I had hoped for. The downside, I didn't like that you had to order prior to sitting down. I didn't like that I had to go get the Napkin container and the condiments myself. Shouldn't those things just be left on every table? Lastly, the gravy was good for me but not suitable for kids as it does have a hint of spice. Might want to add a warning on the menu for those who can't handle spice. Was hesitant to try based on reviews online, but we had a great experience! My only guess is that they had growing pains from just opening. Not pictured is my husband's chicken and waffles and it's probably the best we've had in Wylie. Batter on the chicken was seasoned well, chicken was crispy, waffles had a crisp on the outside but nice and fluffy on the inside. The maple syrup was delicious. Whatever the hashbrowns were that came with the retro platter were my favorite item on the plate. We got our food in about 15 mins. Only complaint would be that our lattes were a little too sweet, but that's probably a personal preference. Would just get their bottomless drip coffee next time. read more

We visit about once every two weeks and get the 5 & Dime. The food has always been on par. It even travels well as a to-go order. I've eaten half, saved the rest for the next day, and it microwaves well! When we asked for our eggs cooked over medium, they come out medium! Their biscuits are to-die-for. Food is 5-stars every time. We've been coming here since they opened. Months aster they opened, we noticed that some of the staff didn't know the menu, weren't helpful, didn't greet us - but it seems like they've got that all worked out now. It was difficult to communicate with staff taking the order because we couldn't hear each other well, I felt like I had to shout. Prices were fair. The food looked great, presented well, was a sizable portion for the value. There was just one huge problem. The 6 of us that ordered all had cold food, not even warm. It did taste fresh, and good.,...just cold. The coffee was excellent, drink all you want. Beware that there is no service here. You order at the counter and they run the food out to you...albeit cold. Get your own coffee, napkins, drinks, etc.... then why ask for a tip? I never understand that. I did mention that all the food was cold. I dont think the person I told really cared, my perception here. We may go back in 6 or 7 months after they have ironed out the quirks since they recently opened. read more

I attempted to dine at this location on the 21st but did not have a stellar experience. There was a very short line to place our order and, while we could see the restaurant was busy, we were able to find a table fairly quickly, albeit was not well cleaned. I received my mocha cold brew (it was advertised and looked yummy) and it tasted like a slightly chocolate water. I returned it to the counter and explained my issue to a young man. He promptly apologized and said it had "probably been sitting there a while" but that he would remake it and bring it to my table. He brought out the "fresh" coffee, which was unfortunately no better than the first. After continuing to sit for about 25 minutes, my sister approached the counter to ask about our food. The woman behind the counter said "I'm not sure when it will be ready. We are clearly busy." At the 45 minute mark, I took my turn to ask about our food time. It took a few minutes for anyone to acknowledge my presence. The manager finally greeted me and I asked about timing and if we could just get our order to-go. She obliged. After another 10 minutes of waiting, I asked the manager to cancel our order and process a refund, which she did. However, while waiting, I overheard her speak to another disgruntled patron, to which she stated "we have a lot of third-party pick-up orders coming in and they take priority". That was truly shocking to hear. Needless to say, there are a lot of kinks for this new establishment to workout. I highly suggest they not take pick-up/online orders during their high-peak times. I am coming here during their first month open. This "modern" brunch place is decent at best. What threw me off was that you have to stand in line and order then sit and wait for your food similar to a food court. The issue with that is people want their time and look at the menu this is not a fast food joint by any means might as well ensure your customers take their time and ask questions to decide. The food itself is good. I had the five and dime I would recommend it. The ambiance is decent and I say this because they advertise themselves as a maple restaurant. Meanwhile the only maple thing I saw was their coffee. Honestly, I would not come back here again. The inexperienced staff and mediocre food is the issues for me. We've gone to the one in Frisco before so I'm glad there's one in Wylie now. The food was great! I had the Five and Dime tacos, and my wife had the retro plate. I was really excited for this place to open. Now that I've gone, I will not be returning. The food was cold, and not correct. The girl running food out to the tables didn't even know what she was bringing out. She literally asked us if this looked like what we ordered. She had two eggs over easy on the plate and I told her I had scrambled with cheese and she said this is yours . I said, Girl No. That's not scrambled. She was clueless. The biscuits were very dry. I expected a much better biscuit for a place with the food in the name of the joint. I was also not a fan of the ordering at the counter and then finding a seat. The area is nice and open and the kitchen even had an open concept where you can watch the biscuits being made by hand. We took a look at the menu and decided on the Squawking goat( biscuit with fried chicken, goat herb cheese, and pepper jelly) , The Firebird( biscuit, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, buffalo sauce, and fried chicken) and the steak tacos. Everything was amazing..From the actual size of the portion to the taste and temperature. We opted out for coffee this morning since we already had it, but I did see and nice coffee station in the back with a variety of choices. I wanted to love this place because biscuits and gravy is one of my favorite meals. The food was great and quantities large but it took over 30 minutes to get our food. I can make my own biscuits and gravy at home faster! The staff was friendly and working hard to fill orders. When I asked how much longer my order would take, the counter person said we came at their busy time. Really? Less than 50% of the tables had people and most of those were waiting on their meals as long as we were. I'm not sure where the breakdown was but it should never take that long to fill orders. Unsure of what kind of cut the steak was supposed to be. It reminded me of ground beef shaped into a "steak" strip. Portions are very small for the price. Overall for the price do not recommend. At no point did anyone let us know our food was taking longer for any reason or check in. Also no toilet paper holder in the restroom so the toilet paper is just sitting on the filthy bar. Guess they will be joining all the other places that have tried and failed to gain momentum here. Don't get me started on their restaurant prices for fast food quality. They need to screen and train their employees better. Some of us still look for customer service and not someone lazy with an attitude. The food is now on par with Walmart frozen food. When they opened the line was out the door and the food was hot and fresh. The employees were motivated and friendly. Not sure if they changed management or have managers at all. When you ask for a supervisor after waiting an hour for your food, you get someone with a worse attitude than the person at the counter. Their excuses the last several times we went were "sorry we are short handed" yet people that came in behind us are getting their food and coffee before us. I've seen people get their money back and leave several times. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back and you should consider other options before choosing this place or at least the Wylie location. read more
