I enjoy the "Top Deal" for $15.95 you get a large one topping pizza and 8 buffallo wings with ranch dressing, celery, and carrot sticks. That's a win-win. The one problem I've had is delivery time is often quoted as 45 minutes to 1 hour before your food will arrive. I'm okay with that, so I call in anticipation of my hunger 45 minutes to an hour prior to when I want my food delivered... The problem lies (pun-intended) in the failure to deliver in those time constraints. Frequently (actually 2 out of 3 total times I've ordered from them), I've had to call them back to see if my order was even coming... That, my friend, is a no-no. This review is about the service...NOT the delicious meal I had. I placed an order here for delivery and was told 45 mins-1 hour and ended up waiting a whopping 2 hrs and 15 mins. When our pasta dishes were finally delivered, the order arrived short the garden salads they are supposed to come with and the dishes were below luke warm! We called back and asked for a remake considering we order from here often and he flat out REFUSED, rather rudely after telling us we were lying. We were very disappointed and another hour and 15 mins later a call came through for us to come to the door to get two salads that were half caringly thrown into a bag. This review is not about the food as after i had to nuke it a craving was satisfied, but I appreciate good customer service and that I did not receive. The specialty pizzas are quite delicious; the one we had was something like a vegetable combo with yummy feta and sun-dried tomatoes. Others ordered a pizza margarita which is quite possibly the most patriotic looking out of the others I'd seen before; nevertheless it looked great. Here I was also introduced to fried ravioli which everyone should try at least once. The prices, I think, were as expected, although the service could use some tweaking; a sharp ear for taking orders correctly is absolutely key. The plain pizza is pretty good, specialty pizzas are decent, and pastas / salads are above average. That aside - it seems that the employees play Marco Polo with your food when you come to pick it up... This place can never seem to get an online order in a timely fashion. I've ordered online from here over five times and every time they seem to start cooking my meal when I arrive to pick it up (no earlier than 20 minutes after placing the order) and I wait there for 15 minutes while they scramble to make my food. The whole point of ordering in advance is to have your food ready when you get there. I wouldn't have an issue with waiting 30 minutes for food if I was told that is how long it takes in advance. Just ordered a delicious salad. Came w/amazing garlic knots. I work in New Haven and my coworker's order frequently and they deliver to our office. Wait time was not bad at all. My only complaint is that I asked for extra dressing and I was charged $1.50 extra for a 2-oz container of balsamic dressing (not even bleu cheese which is notoriously extra at every restaurant). Now the dressing was delicious. A creamy balsamic, but $1.50 for a 2-oz container? That's highway robbery!! I'll definitely order again however I just won't get extra dressing. But then again, there's no way that the 2-oz container included covers all of the small salad that I ordered. I don't mind being charged extra, maybe $.50 or so, but $1.50??? I can not stand the management I ordered something I believed would be dairy free since I'm a vegan and my food came with cheese. When asked why it wasn't disclosed they claim I should let them know about something they don't disclose in the description that I've never personally ordered from them before. I was told to put it in the comments. Description doesn't say cheese. It is a restaurant's job to fully describe their dishes when other pizzeria do not put cheese unless asked. Not doing so (describing their dishes) is just a form of laziness! Manager was unwilling to change the order and basically made it seem like my fault as if I made the damn order. Awesome Gluten Free pizza for delivery! We usually order white pizza with sausage&fresh garlic (yum), chicken bacon ranch, four cheese pizza, Philly cheesesteak pizza, or buffalo chicken pizza. All good on the gluten free crust which tastes almost like the real thing. Try to avoid spinach on GF crust because it makes it dry. Takes an hour for delivery, and worth the wait. I'm sorry to do this but I feel duped! I ordered pasta fagioli and was given a heated up can of Progresso Minestrone soup. I know it was canned soup because I can taste the acidity of the sodium and other preservatives. Additionally the image on the can is identical to what I was served. You shouldn't have soup on the menu if you're going to serve processed garbage and call it homemade and if you're going to do that #1 At least serve the correct soup #2 Do better than Progresso #3 Don't use the term "homemade" on the menu. Those of you who scoff and write disparaging reviews of Marco Polo clearly have not experienced the joys of a bespoke stromboli. That's right, I said bespoke. There's no better analogy than that of high fashion. The bespoke stromboli is crisp, tender, buttery, and flavorful. Spinach and mushroom? Eggplant and garlic? All of these at once? You can fucking have that. And you can drown all of it in a delicious sauce, in which (as other reviewers have noted) the pizza is all too lacking. The cheese is good quality, though, and the slices are not usually greasy (a definite plus if you are going to eat slices of the size found at Marco Polo). I'd recommend the pesto veggie slice when they have it, or the fresh tomatoes-mozzarella-basil. The plain cheese slice leaves something to be desired, other than as an extremely generously sized example of a slice, as it often is greasy in addition to dry (puzzling). Overall, the pizza serves the usual purpose of opting for pizza: filling your tummy on the cheap. Marco Polo also turned me on to a pretty awesome dessert option: zeppole. Those of you who are unfamiliar with this confection, I refer you to Wikipedia for the basics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeppole Back? OK, so -- the zeppole varies from location to location, you dig? But here at Marco Polo, they are lightly deep-fried, then dusted in powdered sugar, and have no filling. They are of delightfully variegated sizes, ranging from 1 inch dense balls of deliciousness to mammoth 4-inchers that you should probably rip into four pieces. This raises the question of how many you should eat. Look, there are no ways about it, if you eat this whole bag, you are an idiot. Simple. It is TOO big and too deep friend. Get at least two friends to help you (really, if you are normal, three). That way, everyone gets some delicious zeppole, and no one leaves feeling like a pig led to slaughter (remember, you likely already ate pizza or, if you properly followed my recommendation, a stromboli. So.). SUMMARY: Let me repeat my earlier statement: STROMBOLI. This may be the best reason to venture to Crown St. But then I'd be lying of course, because that singular honor clearly goes to Cafe Nine. But while you're there, give Marco Polo's stromboli a taste. -K read more

Underwhelmed. Let's start with the actual ordering: Picked up my order -- they got many parts of it wrong. I paid $3 for 2 toppings, but was given plain cheese. I asked for my pasta to be linguini, got penne. Asked for a time it'd be ready -- gave them 5 extra minutes on the time they said, and still waited 10 minutes. Much room for improvement. Now the actual food -- the pasta was bleh; I'm no chef and I do better; not the best quality vegetables. The pizza was okay: the crust was a bit too chewy/tough -- the sauce and cheese were passable. The zeppoli weren't bad, but again, the bread was a bit too tough. Once I ordered hamburger and fries and was given chips. I told the staff I got the wrong thing he said he never heard me order the fries (what?!?) For dinner, we ordered a to-go order: lasagna and chicken parmesan. It came with two side salads and two bags of garlic bread rolls. The garlic rolls I thought were the best part as they were still warm and soft. The salad was just a regular salad but the dressing tasted quite good. The lasagna and chicken parmesan didn't blow me away. The chicken parmesan didn't have enough sauce and the slices of chicken were bounded sheet thin. But the upside of the entrees were that they are indeed all American portions. You can have leftovers for a few meals. read more
