My family had flown in from Colorado and was staying at the nearby hotel. I had called to see if they could accommodate a party of 8 around 5:30pm at which they advised me that it was a Friday night and that atleast within an hour they could not. I asked if I could make a reservation for a time they advised me they could not. About an hour later we had arrived to put our names in for when they were able to accommodate and were advised that it would be a 45 minute wait and we chose to wait as we were unable to drive elsewhere. The bar area was empty and people coming in were advised they could pick a table there. About an hour later the hostess says to her co worker that they were going to make us wait another 25 minutes. WHY? we were patient and causing no issues. Then after that we were brought to a table in the near back in an area that was completely empty with many tables open for larger parties. We didnt understand but didn't say anything. It was also my neices birthday and the waitress told her they would sing to her later. We got our food, ate, then the bill. We paid. My nephew didn't get his free ice cream treat with the meal so we asked and said we only give it if you ask. WHY do we need to ask when it is part of the meal. The restaurant made. Promise to my neice that we didn't aks for to have them sing and they never did. They seemed so frustrated that we were all there but don't understand why. Went with the family last week and customer service was top notch, manager came out to talk to us about our food and service. She said her name was Kelsey and if we needed anything to ask for her, she refilled our drinks and we watched her running around the room doing pretty much everything to help during a crazy busy night. We love margaritas. We only go 2-3 times a year because there are literally hundreds of places to eat anywhere you go, and I cook at home most of the time, but anytime we want Mexican we go to margaritas. There is just nothing that compares in this area. In fact we don't even bother trying other Mexican restaurants anymore because the few others around here that we have tried we just didn't like. Now I've never been to Mexico, so I can't compare it to genuine Mexican food, but we do LOVE everything we get when we come here. I always stop by Margaritas when I am in town because I am typically staying at the Homewood Suites in the parking lot. The customer service is great - I have been multiple times and had both Lauren and Jamie as waitresses - both were excellent. The prices are a little high for the portions, but the food is good. It is a little surprising that the Mexican food here at this establishment in New Hampshire is better than most I have had in Phoenix. The salsa is good too - nice texture with a kick. A good feature added is a heated patio, that I am sure comes in handy during the cold winter months. The music can be a little loud sometimes and a few of the booths are too big for a small group - hard to converse, especially with the music. The main attraction for me is the margaritas. If the store is named after a product, it must be good, right? I have tried the traditional margarita, the pomegranite one, the sour apple and the spider apple - those are all good, but none of them compare to the Russelrite. I swear it is like a smoothie. That drink will sneak up on you if you are not careful. Leave the bar FUBAR'd? That's okay - the hotel is within staggering distance. read more

Had a lot of fun at Margaritas on Friday night with my friends. I used to hang out at the Revere location and since moving north to the Seacoast, I haven't been back there. My friend Dottie wanted to check out happy hour at the Dover location so we did. We had a blast. I arrived first and sat at the bar. had a house margarita with salt on the rocks - 5 bucks - and the waitress brought over a heaping bowl if nacho chips and some yummy salsa. My friends arrived and we went to a table. The dining room was festive, filled up quick and everyone was having fun. Our waitress dressed up in a taco costume and she was very personable. Someone tied balloons to our table and brought us leis. The food we ordered was yummy. Very disappointed with the service, or lack thereof. No excuses, the restaurant wasn't even busy. We waited patiently for at least 40 minutes to order the main course after our appetizer came out. No dishes, napkins or utensils were offered. We had to ask for silverware and napkins twice after our food came out. We went here as a family while on vacation as it was within walking distance of our hotel. I got the taco sampler and the shrimp taco was my favorite. The other tacos were decent but I would go back and get just the shrimp tacos. My wife ordered the margarita flight and it was enough to give her a good buzz. She didn't like all the flavors though. I believe my wife got fajitas and thought they were good but she was pretty buzzed so she doesn't really remember. My 7 year old daughter got the kids soft taco plate and really enjoyed it with just meat and cheese in it. I believe my 3 year old son got a cheeseburger and fries and enjoyed it. The kids had a blast building stuff with the wiki sticks they were given as part of the kids menu to keep them occupied. We stopped at Margaritas on the way to Maine. We planned on going to another restaurant nearby, but there was a long wait and we were all starving from the long drive. The restaurant was pretty empty, which was concerning, because there were several other restaurants in the area that were packed. My oldest and I both had the fajitas which were good. My wife had the taco salad, which she said was just OK, and the little guy had some tacos. He's been battling an ear infection, so he didn't eat much, so we took it with us. The place was clean, nice and cool on a hot day, and our water was attentive and friendly. I have so many allergies and often hesitate to go out to eat. My friend and I told the waitress, Siera, that I had allergies and sent the manager over. The manager, Fran, went back and forth just to accommodate and figure out what will work for me to ensure I can have something. Margaritas is my go to spot for anywhere around when it comes to happy hour. A generously large and favorably cold beer for $2.50 has yet to do me wrong. I normally come with my wife, and there is almost always a spot for us to squeeze into at the bar. Fresh complimentary chips are always served right away, the salsa has something to be desired however. The food I would a say is consistently average... I like the ambiance, and friendly staff. There is a juke box that you can operate remotely via a phone app, if your phone has the interwebs. Ironically I have never tried a margarita here, but the freshly squeezed limes in each one look tempting. I visit this place at least once a week, sometimes 2-3 times. Let me put this plainly. The "Mexican" food served at Margaritas is an embarrassment. I don't like being overly negative, but I feel that people who know what real Mexican food tastes like should be warned before going to this establishment. I cannot put into mere words the revulsion I experienced on the two occurrences in which I went to the restaurant. The first time, I am almost positive that there was pumpkin (or some sort of semi-sweet pureed substance) in the refried beans, which gave them a sickening semi-sweet taste that I almost spit out of my mouth. The salsa, too, was sweet: more like a fruit chutney than a salsa. The tortillas tasted thick and had a store-bought stale quality, and the quality of the meat reminded me more of taco bell than a high-quality restaurant. On my second attempt several months later (deciding that they may have just had a bad night), the beans still tasted disturbingly sweet, though mildly less so than the previous time (who makes refried beans that are sweet?), the tortillas were still stale and much too thick, the salsa still felt like chutney and the meat was only somewhat better than that which you could find at taco bell. I hate to be so harsh, but the only people who would enjoy Margaritas are people who have never tasted Mexican food in their lives. Much like a child locked in an attic who doesn't know what the outside world looks like, they can't be blamed for their ignorance on the subject... however, those here who have experienced Mexican food of even questionable quality should steer well clear of this restaurant. read more

Okay, I hate going to chain restaurants as much as the next person, but sometimes a good experience can make you feel okay about shelling out your hard-earned food bucks there. I love Mexican food and adore Slims in Rochester and Cafe Noche in Conway, so Margarita's is a stretch for me. But, there we were- hungry, tired, and ready for anything, when we drove by Maragritas in Dover. I applied the brakes and whipped out the credit card. I had to laugh at the funny attire the restaurant makes its male workers wear. The kid who waited on us looked like he should be doing a Free Credit Report . com commercial about someone whose reputation was ruined, forcing them to seek employment where he was required to wear a stupid outfit. All laughing aside, we were brought nachos and salsa to munch on while we looked at the menu over deliciously refreshing Margaritas. WTF? Why would a restaurant bring their diners five-alarm salsa as a complimentary appetizer? This really pissed me off because my mouth was burning and I couldn't put out the fire. Our meals were served promptly. I had a chicken burrito and my BF had some type of fish tacos. While the plates were not overloaded, there was enough food to keep us happy, but not enough to bring home a doggie bag. As we drank Margarita #2, Jeff, the manager, approached us and asked how everything was. I took this opportunity to complain about the fire salsa. Jeff had the perfect solution and returned from the kitchen with a new dish of salsa and a dish of ranch dressing. He mixed the two before our very eyes and insisted we try the new concoction. I have been to this location three times, and while the drinks are fine the food is not. More akin to a Chilis than a taqueria, the food is overpriced and bordering on bland. The servers, however, were always on the ball, and unfailingly pleasant. I agree with another reviewer that the salsa was not good, and the chips that came with it were greasy. The price -service ration is completely out of wack. Being a regular visitor at Margaritas in Dover in the past (with 2-3 times a month), I was quite happy up to approximately 1 year ago. Unfortunately, things have changed to worse. As a consequence, I changed the frequency of visits to once every 2 months and have not seen any improvements yet. Over the last year they have changed portion size and the food quality is everything else than consistent. Here are a few examples of my last visits. The three enchiladas of the Mexican Flag dish vary in size from regular size to be to the size of thumb. It seems like it is depending who prepares the food. The listed "special" Mexican Cobb Salad was didn't really provide much taste. Either they missed the dressing or spices. Visiting the restaurant with a bigger group of over 10 people, I ordered a beer. After everybody had been served and after waiting 15-20minutes, I was following up with the waitress. Apparently they could not get to the beer I ordered due to some ongoing spill cleanup.... I get it, but at least tell me or offer me to get something else instead. Just yesterday I ordered the Pork Belly Tacos, listed under entrée. So, you get 3 tacos, but they are only 1/2 the size from what all other taco dishes in this restaurant are. This dish for $13 combined with a beer for $7.50, I spent $20.50 having a starter size dish and a beer....are they for real? After I went home I had a second dinner. Service in general is ok and friendly, but strongly depending on the person you are dealing with. To close this out, sad to say, Margaritas Dover was one of my favorite places in the past. I ordered a dish in the enchilada section that was 2 enchiladas, a beef one and chicken one. It came with rice and beans on the side and melted cheese on top of the enchiladas. It was sooo filling and large portion. I couldn't really finish it all and I usually never have food left on my plate when I eat out. The dish was very hot and delicious. Chicken enchilada was tastier in my opinion than the beef one but both were good. I also ordered a cocktail, it was some kind of coconut drink that tasted amazing and just like a pina colada. SERVICE: A+!!! My waitress, Karalyn I think her name was, was veryyy friendly and actually made conversation with us. She was very helpful when I couldn't decide which dish to order.
