My Sales experience at Marin County. My Salesman Christian Lujano communicated through the whole process very well. Christian wasn't pushy at all. before coming in to the dealership Christian had sent me some Fusion choices in what I was looking for. He was very good about getting me price quotes with a break down of cost and monthly payment with the estimated APR options. When I got to the dealership Christian already had 1 of the cars we had talked about ready to look at and test drive. Christian let me take my time looking at the fusion inside and out. Christian let me take a real test drive on the freeway, streets and back roads to make sure that was the car I wanted. After agreeing to the purchase of the car, the car went to detail. Because the car was a left over 2017 it had developed water spots on the paint and on the Rims it also had haze on the front an rear windshield. The Detail tech that day was not able to correct those things. Christian promised to have it taken care of if I could bring the car back and leave it with them for a few days. Christian kept his word, got me a nice Fusion Loaner for the time it would take to get the Detail perfect. Christian has been honest and upfront through the whole process. They will sell you a pre-owned car, offer you a useless overpriced extended warranty and if you refuse, they'll let you know that the car comes with a standard 90 days warranty but NO MENTION that such warranty is only good for 3 thousand miles. Now, you call them, complain about the issues your car is presenting and they'll happily advise you to bring your car in for the 5 thousand mile scheduled maintenance (which is absolute SHIT, using the wrong oil grade even) just to tell you that they'll now have to charge you for the diagnostic since your warranty expired 2k miles ago. WTF? Don't bring your business here unless you're a glutton for pain and enjoys false advertising, shit customer service and long wait times for absolutely anything. My car is under warranty and I have a service contract. The service was so poor at the dealership where I purchased my car, that I started to go to Marin County Ford for regular maintenance and service under my contract. I have taken my car in twice and the service has been satisfactory. Over the weekend, my car battery died. Despite charging the battery, the charge wouldn't hold. So I tried to contact the Marin County Ford Service Department to make a repair appointment. My thinking is that the problem could be the alternator, which may be under warranty, so I should take it to a Ford dealer rather than to my trusted mechanic. What a mistake! The Service Department opens at 7:30 AM and I need to be at work by 8:00 AM. So I called them at 7:40 AM, was transferred to Service, and the phone rang, unanswered, for three minutes before the call was disconnected. I called again and the same thing happened. I had to go to work, so I went onto their website and saw the Chat option. I started chatting with someone online who said he could help me book a repair appointment, and then he simply stopped engaging with me and the chat window was closed. So I tried the Text option, also available from the website. Someone texted me pretty quickly, but called me by someone else's name and said he was following up about my inquiry about purchasing a new car. I told him I was trying to schedule a repair appointment, and he responded by saying that I needed to call service via phone. My car is dead, I am at work, and I need help. Yet no one at Marin County Ford seems to be able to help me. I am frustrated and disappointed. read more

Wow... the list of horrific experiences with Marin County Ford just keeps growing. First, they lost the paperwork for my car that I leased through them. I had to redo the paperwork while I was out of town. The finance guy, Abdul (or Aby), gave me such a difficult time and insulted me time after time because I wasn't available to adhear to his very limited time schedule needed to get the final paperwork in to Ford Credit. I did my best to help THEM out and finish up the missing pages, but Abdul consistently harassed me with chauvinistic insults the entire time. I ended up having to threaten him with a call from my lawyer to get him to stop harassing me! Abdul finally did stop with the insults, but was no more helpful in the process of finishing up his missing work to get my account sorted out. He also warned me that he would do his best to make things difficult for me... and he did because... Next, Abdul / Aby insisted that I send him my first payment, and not Ford Credit directly. I sent him the check, as requested, and he didn't pass it along to Ford Credit at all, however Marin County Ford DID cash the check! So, basically, Ford Credit called me to inquire why my first payment was late. By now I was in Europe and had to deal with more paperwork and calling Marin County Ford and Ford Credit Risk Management Department internationally, over and over to try and sort out the issue. I was also receiving calls from the Risk Management department of Ford Credit (who, by the way is probably the nicest risk management department I've ever dealt with, of any creditor). They did everything they could to help, but knew that in the end it was up to Marin County Ford to confirm that the check/payment was received, and that I was telling the truth. Luckily, and on purpose, I sent the check as a Bill Payment, so the process of sending/receiving was fully documented by my bank. FINALLY (and hopefully I won't have anything else to add to this dire list)... I just got back to my car from my trip abroad. It's dusty, so I decide to wash it by hand. I'm in the country with no carwash nearby. So I washed the car and notice that the back of the car had been dinged, and someone used the car correction paint to paint over it! I KNOW that wasn't me, and the car hadn't been driven and was sitting covered for a couple of months. I hadn't noticed it previously because the car was clean and honestly you wouldn't see such a small ding unless you were right up against the car and washing it by hand. So, I called Marin County Ford and told them what I saw. The sales manager, Glen Roth basically told me that I was making it up to hide something I did myself, or that someone did it while I was out of town. I told him that both of those scenarios were impossible. He told me that it wasn't "impossible," and obviously that's what happened. Anyhow, he's correct: it's not "impossible..." just HIGHLY unlikely. However Glen was very comfortable saying that it wasn't possible for it have happened at Marin County Ford. So, I guess it's impossible for it to have happened on his watch, but not impossible for it to have happened on mine? It's much more likely that the car was damaged when I picked it up from them and they hid it really well with a spotless car and some white paint--judging from Glen's tone, I sensed he also felt that way. The car has only been at their dealership and sitting in my driveway. It's a small ding, and I'm on a lease, so it's not like it's my car in the end, I just feel he could have handled the situation with much more elegance, and more politeness, than saying that I'm trying to cover my own tracks by pointing the finger at them! If I truly was trying to hide something why would I tell on myself? I wasn't necessarily trying to make them accountable, I simply wanted to find out if I or they should do anything about it. Instead of helping me with a workable solution, he denied, denied, denied... then was completely defensive and simply rude and totally unprofessional (no surprise there). When people are THAT defensive it makes me think they are hiding something. I personally would never go back to Marin County Ford to purchase or lease a car. I would highly recommend anyone else thinking of going there to go to the next Ford dealership. I know there are a few in Novato and in Marin in general that have much better reviews. Marin County Ford is an absolutely unethical and unprofessional car dealership, as far as my experience is concerned. I honestly wanted it to be a great working relationship, but as much as I tried, and as many chances as I gave, they only came back with one result: "Unprincipled," is the word that I think suits them best, as a whole. If you do buy/lease a car from them MAKE SURE you look it over with a fine tooth comb. I am willing to bet that this little cover up they did on my car wasn't the first. read more

It seems the two I interacted with were new to the dealership and didn't yet know much about the vehicles they were trying to sell (not a bad thing given how long they have been there. The reason I would stay away was purely due to Glenn. He is their sales manager who when I was told to speak with him, he was extremely rude and discourteous. I was in my decision making phase of which car I wanted to buy and got a number from the sales person and it wasn't quite where I wanted to be, so I left to mull it over. I got a call to return and they would work it out. So I drove back...big mistake. They didn't move on the price and I was told to talk to Glenn. It was at this time that he shook my hand as strong as he could (had to show he was in charge), sat back down at his desk and stared at his computer the whole time he berated me for "being in it for the game" whatever that means. So I left. I called the sales person to let him know I probably would have purchase the car from him the next day had it not been for the experience with Glenn and they were understanding given what had happened. I went down to Serramonte Ford and had a GREAT experience down there on the other hand. Well worth the little bit of a distance between the two. read more

BE WARNED when you go to this dealership they do not have any customer sevice skills at all. I was pre-approved from my credit union so I came into the dealership to purchase a new car and trade in my old car. Prior to visiting this establishment I had got my car appraised by a reputable nationwide dealership. Not only did they completely low ball me on my vehicle but they could not explain to me how or why they came to the price of the vehicle I was trying to purchase. When I asked how much did they get the used vehicle for, the sales manager sternly told me, "that's none of your business." He further exclaimed, "you are a consumer, you are here to spend money, you're telling me you drove an hour to this dealership to not buy this suv." I felt disrespected and treated as if I were a child. I have sold cars before and I understand the whole sales process but this experience has been by far the worst. Dealt with Ben over the phone the whole time, and he really did everything he could to make sure I got the car I wanted, at the price I wanted. Whatever you do, don't give this dealership your e-mail. It's next to impossible to get off their spam list. I didn't give my e-mail address to every dealer I visited when I bought my last car, but I did give it to quite a few. This is the only one I had a problem with. They put me on their e-mail list, and there is no easy way to unsubscribe. There is no single button. I clicked the many buttons in their menu indicating I don't want e-mail, but it keeps coming. I'll never take my car to anyone except Marin ford! My car is always returned to me like new and in a timely manner. The price I pay is exactly or less than the estimated amount I'm given at drop off. They have the convenience of having rental are available on site and in the rare times they are all being used, they call a rental place for me. All I have to do is sit back and watch some TV in the convenient waiting area. Fran in service is literally a DREAM to work with. He is efficient, knowledgeable, courteous and so so so helpful. I later voiced my dissatisfaction and felt taken advantage of, the Sales manager did refund my $200 but after repeated phone calls. Overall, I was vary satisfied with my purchase once I was refunded the difference. read more
