Marker 32 is an excellent local establishment. Have only been a few times, but highly recommend the place. Great options, very different, very fresh. Excellent service. We have tried to get a reservation here twice and have been unsucessful so we decided we would use our Groupon and go eat at the bar last Saturday night. My boyfriend and I were unimpressed with this place. The service was not very friendly, food was mediocre and place was very stuffy and loud. My grouper special was over cooked making it tough and dry in the tortilla soup broth. My boyfriend's salmon entree was a very small portion of salmon that was actually under cooked and he said was too salty. The bacon, corn goat cheese beignets were just ok. They didn't blow me away with flavor! The fried calamari was probably the best thing we tried with mint/peanuts/cilantro Asian sauce. I do not think I will give this place a second chance. read more

My husband and I were planning on eating at Marker 32 for our 12 year anniversary this past weekend. We made reservations a week in advance and arrived 5 minutes early. The hostess let us know a table was wrapping up and we would be seated shortly. Twenty minutes later, we were still waiting to be seated. While we waited, multiple parties were seated. There was no apology by the hostess or offer of any beverages while we waited. We decided to take our business elsewhere. We called and spoke to the manager who basically accused us of lying about our wait time. He also threw expletives at us and told us he hoped we had a miserable anniversary. We were extremely shocked and disappointed. We will not be visiting Marker 32 where such unprofessional individuals are hired. It was a very big disappointment. read more

I really wanted to like marker 32, but food quality is everything and this place just doesn't have it. This place is dressed up to make you think you'll be getting a marina front fine-dining experience. Unfortunately, what's been done is closer to an attempt at upscaling a southern comfort food style to fit in a fine dining restaurant. The problem is that the two concepts are not married well at all. Heavy handed sauces absolutely destroy some of the delicate flavors that should be brought out instead of covered up. I'm always concerned when I see overflowing reviews on yelp hyping a place up to have the "best seafood in town" or the "best dining experience around." Nothing could be farther from the truth. I wish I could give this place a better review. The atmosphere is warm and the joint is clean and full of white yuppies eager to throw away their not so hard earned cash. As you walk in you begin to anticipate that this is going to be a good meal. Sadly unless all you care about is large portions you'll probably be disappointed. The tuna was covered in a mushroom Carmelized onion sauce that absolutely buried any flavor of the meat, which may have been a good thing as the singular bite not covered in sauce that I was able to try was so overlooked that no flavor even remained. The crispy octopus was relatively well cooked. It's just too bad that the lemon sauce it was covered in was soooo lemony that I had to take a sip of water after every bite to avoid puckering up. Onion and artichoke Soup had a similar problem of tasting like burnt Carmelized onions. The Crab cakes were extremely chewy and again the flavors were not well balanced. The salmon was dry. That's all I have to say. How hard is it to not let the salmon dry out. Large portions of the sides seem to accompany every dish that I watched come out. Sadly my little 12 year old cousin makes better whipped potatoes. I could go on about the other dishes but the theme is recurrent. Drowned in sauce. Overcooked. Flavors are completely unbalanced Best seafood in town? Fish camp and the fish company have much much more delicious dishes just to name two. If at the end of your meal here you look down at your check and sigh, "Ahhh that was worth it," then I'm sorry my friend but you have never had good seafood. read more

My boyfriend came home from deployment, and chose Marker 32 as his first meal home. We had never eaten there, but thought the location would be lovely as it is right on the water. I called ahead to make reservations, and ended up telling the woman who answered (Brenda) all about my boyfriend and how long he had been gone. She said she would make it a special night, and she was completely correct! First of all, we had a wonderful view of the water, and once we were all seated, many members of the waitstaff came to thank Jack for his service and welcome him home- something I thought went well above and beyond their job description. Then, our waiter Steve came over. He must be the most knowledgeable waiter I've ever had. He told us all about each dish and which he would recommend. We finally made our picks, and each dish was INCREDIBLE. Most of us got the tuna (as Steve described it- we absolutely HAD to have it!) but some others got steaks and halibut. We each licked our plates clean. When we thought we could eat no more, we ordered dessert, which could have been the best desserts I've ever tasted. Called the restaurant for reservations for two,said we didn't need them. Went on tuesday night and realized we should have made them for a window table. Hostess was great and so was our waiter Jeff . We had a bunch of appetizers, good wine and an awesome time. Would love to go back. We go to fish camp and this was way more mellow. Loved the ambience. Will definitely return. I would not go back here. Had recs from friends to go here. Couple things that were annoying and not enjoyable off the bay were that the service is slow slow slow slow!!! If you want a fast meal don't pick this place for that. Takes forever to get your drink order, food order etc and then once they take it even longer to get those items to your table. My dad loved his meal so that is good but honestly not worth the wait. There is some great coconut scrub in the ladies bathroom that you should def use it you go here. Also ordered my burger well done and it didn't come out that way sent it back and then they said since it took so long they would bring over dessert / no thanks... We went here for our anniversary, I must say I had one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I ordered the wood grilled pork chop and it came with grits and collard greens, now those two side items can be hit and miss, but they were both a hit. Creamy grits and such flavorful collard greens.....yum! My wife had a lovely shrimp cocktail and a salmon entree with a very flavorful ramp creme Fraiche. The wait staff was excellent, water glasses were always full and they answered any questions we had. We also got two glasses of complimentary champagne which is an added bonus for our special celebration. We love sitting at the bar for drinks and dinner, and Marker 32 is perfect for that! Our bartender, Anthony, was chock full of suggestions from the menu and he makes a drink...the hot mama...that is unbelievably tasty...but only if you like spicy! So good, I think I may have had 3 or 4..but hey, who's counting? Our dinner was really, really good, starting with their deviled eggs with oysters...an uncommon pairing, but absolutely scrumptious! We held our nephew's rehearsal dinner in the back room with about 45 people attending. It was wonderful from the beginning to the end. We met with Kate, the manager, a couple of days prior and she set us up with a wonderful florist, Floriade.The 6 flower arrangements really brought the room together. We really needed to add color to the room.The room is VERY plain even with the beautiful sunset...no tablecloths were available and only white napkins. Kate was so accommodating and her staff was extremely professional. We had appetizer platters and we would have ordered extra because most people took more on their plates than what we planned. We had chosen the salmon, the steak and the vegetable pasta. Each entree was delicious. We also chose the dessert platters and they were wonderful.We had a wonderful night and can't wait to visit Markers 32 again. read more

Quaint, slightly upper end classy bar and restaurant. Old style trendy inside, bar at center of dining area. Great veiws of the intracoastal waterway. Had crabcakes with dill aioli and they were very good. Still serves cold raw appalachacola oysters on the half shell,...salty with lots of hot horseradish!!! Dinner Feb 11 First time here and boy was I impressed. Wasn't expecting such good food from a place that looked from the street to be a bar on the water. Boy, was I wrong! This is now my favorite restaurant in Jacksonville. Wait staff was awesome and very accommodating. The Trigger Fish and Grouper Fish specials were INCREDIBLE! cooked perfectly and they were so fresh! The accompaniments to both dishes were perfect as well! Fresh bread, baked in house was awesome The fried Green Tomato appetizer was very unique for a Florida restaurant - adding the bacon jam on top was very Southern and extremely tasty (although the tomatoes could have been fried a bit crispier) The Deviled Egg appetizer was very different as well - and very good - if you like deviled eggs and or fried oysters, give it a try! You can tell that this restaurant and the kitchen staff take great pride in their work and it shows on the plates! The only "opportunity areas" was in the Calamari appetizer, which didn't have much of the described extras (Vietnamese ginger cilantro dress/mint/chopped peanut) - I think I saw 3 peanuts in there and little to no dressing. Additionally, I thought the salads were a bit "under-whelming" based on how awesome the appetizers were- the salads were standard fare and pretty normal (but still tasted very good - just expected a better presentation based on all else that was served). If you live in the Jacksonville area or up there on business - this place will not disappoint! read more

I was in town on busiess and the hotel suggested this restaurant. It was wonderful. The food and service were both spot on. My steak was perfectly cooked and my guest loved their fish. We recently went to Marker 32 with a group of 12 friends. The atmosphere was great. Very sophisticated without being pretentious. Our server was extremely friendly, humorous, and knowledgable. The food was great. No one in our group was disappointed, which is a tough task with twelve people. And when the night was finished our server was nice enough to split up the checks for us even though she easily could have complained. Overall a great evening. read more

The last time I was there the fish dish with hoppin Johns was more than enough for two, we split it and we were quite satisfied, for $29 you expect a bit more and when you split it is reasonable. I've been to Marker 32 several times with mixed results. I've never had bad food until my last visit on Jan 5. For the most part the food tasted fine and the wait staff was attentive. The problem came towards the end of the meal. I started feeling really hot. I thought it was the coffee so I quit drinking it. By the time I got home my skin was red head to toe and having some stomach issues. I thought maybe I discovered I had a food allergy. The next day I talked to three others in our party who had also been sick after dinner. One of which had the exact same reaction I did. Needless to say, I won't be back again. read more

Always outstanding food. My favorite restaurant in Jax. Went last night for birthday celebration. Ordered two specials: octopus and veal chicarones salad was delicious, veal chop with horseradish gremolata was perfected cook, tender and amazingly flavorful. Drank Jack London Kenwood Cabernet on bartender's recommendation, it was very smooth. Finished with marscapone cheesecake, which was lighter than a traditional cheesecake. It was the perfect ending. Place was packed due to Valentine's Day, but our server was fantastic. Only one caveat: food runner auctioned 1st course off, rather than knowing which dish went where. Hate that! Located on the water, the view was good. The food was even better. Two of us shared oysters. On the half shell. Very sweet and very good accompaniments. The warm spinach salad was delicious and distinctive. Shrimp bisque was good, with a sherry flavor. Kale salad was a good knock off on a wedge salad with better texture. Shrimp and grit cakes were interesting. And tilefish was the local fish special, with hopping john. Very good. Crime brûlée for dessert. All in all, a good meal, especially for this area. I'll start by saying I've eaten at Marker 32 on several occasions and have generally enjoyed the dining experience. My last visit, however, was an all around disappointment. It started with our seating. We had a 5:45 reservation and were seated at a table across from the bar and at the exit from the kitchen to the dining room. This location is very busy and loud. I asked the floor manager if we could be seated in another location and he said only if we wanted to wait until 9:00 to eat, as nothing else was available. He could have cared less and made no attempt to find another table. There were several open tables for 4 at the time. Simply, this table should not exist. In addition to our seats being bumped by staff on multiple occasions, we probably heard "right behind you" and "behind you" 3 dozen times throughout the meal as food and drink pass over our heads. I hope it was worth losing 4 customers just to cram another table for 4 in the front dining area. Now the food. While I've always thought the food at Marker 32 was very good, this was by far my worst experience. First, if your servers don't know wine, they shouldn't make recommendations. No need to go into detail. Second, when African Pompano comes out undercooked, there shouldn't be a conversation about how all of the fish is sushi grade in regard to correcting the problem. I'm a huge sushi fan but I've yet to see African Pompano on a sushi menu and I don't think undercooked Pompano with Hoppin' John and collards was the plan. I selected to have them bring a corrected dish. The new dish came very quickly with the fish cooked perfectly but the rice undercooked and bit crunchy. In addition, my collards were replaces with spinach. Sigh. My biggest disappointment was the casual, could care less attitude by the staff regarding the dining experience. Our tab for 3 drinks 2 appetizers and 4 entrees was $250 including tip. I'll spend that at another restaurant next time. You've lost a customer. Still simmering a bit. read more

The food and service were fine, no problem there. We went for our 59th Anniversary on March 26. But the management has complete disregard for customer safety in that there are no handrails on the outdoor staircase, which is the primary way in and the way out. Such handrails are required by building codes world-wide, with very specific rules as to height over treads, spacing from wall, shape and size of rail, overhangs at landings, etc., etc. It is a matter of safety. If you start to lose your balance one can reach out and grab the rail. Some people, like me - old and creaky - keep a hand on the rail at all times. When I discussed this with management the next day, after several conversations they said they would install a handrail forthwith. But last week I checked to see what the new rail looked like, and it wasn't there. A promise broken and they hadn't had the courtesy to call me and explain. So I called them and got the brush-off. " All we need to have is the elevator". Not so. Perhaps that's all the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requires for disabled persons, but that does not excuse non-compliance with providing a safe ingress and egress for non-disabled people who are able to, and do, use the prominent staircase rather than the tiny, afterthought elevator, probably put there to comply with the ADA. The point is not to convert non-disabled persons into disabled persons. Even if the building dates from Colonial days or some later time before the building codes required handrails, and even if the building is grandfathered (I have no knowledge about this, although I do have a pending complaint with the city and will find out), IMHO no responsible restaurant management would fail to provide compliant-with-code handrails. After all, this is outdoors. It rains. Rain makes stairs slippery. They serve alcoholic drinks. Drinks, as well as old age, make patrons unsteady. read more

I have been here 1 time. This was the 1st place I had Venison at. Was good. It kinda just tasted like meat. Not sure how to describe it.

While the marina may not be stacked with yachts, the seafood here is the best in the area. The service was phenomenal - almost as if the waitress had a premonition of the timing of my next drink. The only thing I flaw of Marker 32 is their poorly designed menu. read more
