Martina has been on my list for a while and I'm so glad I got to try it out! I came on a Wednesday night with a reservation and it was busy for a Wednesday night! I recommend a reservation if you decide to come here! I had the Pappardelle with Short Rib and it was amazing! My friend the gnocchi and she said that was spicy. We tried the potato churros with the spicy Mayo and ketchup and it was delicious! I love the spicy Mayo sauce, it was to die for! The drinks was the reason I gave it a four out of five. I feel like they put too much ice and barely any of the drink. It's ridiculous with it being $15 for the cocktail. Plus the ambience would be better during the day since there's barely any lights and it's so dark in there. I probably would go back if it's during the day. Omg......... don't walk, RUN here. I cannot speak highly enough about our experience at Martina and I sincerely hope that anyone who looks at my review will make a res on the spot. SETTING: Okay, this was an important day for us (me). My boyfriends dad's 61st birthday which we came to MN to celebrate. I spent time looking into the best restaurants in MN (like Tennant, Demi (couldn't get a res in time), Manny's Steakhouse etc), as I wanted a nice, fancy, special occasion restaurant. Martina came up on many lists but I was nervous because I just couldn't tell if it would be "good enough". And BOY, did Martina exceed every expectation for every one of us. It's a beautiful restaurant- very large and airy room, glass partitions separating the booths, large leafy plants, people dressed nicely, and a very trendy place. I was really impressed with the setting. FOOD: Most important thing. And I really can't say enough good things about our meal here. As my boyfriend said: (1)" every, single, plate, is delicious" and (2) "this is the best dining experience we've had since COVID". We are from NYC and have been traveling the past year to different states and I can earnestly say I agree with both statements. Not ONE thing we ordered was underwhelming. Every single plate was absolutely fantastic. For appetizers we had the oysters, calamari (shockingly good, the sauce that came with this I want to eat every day for the rest of my life), the beef tongue toasts, empanadas and cacio e Pepe. The cacio e pepe is a MUST ORDER. It is without fault, one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. For entree we had the 8 oz steaks and the ramp pesto ravioli. Again, FANTASTIC. I had a few pieces of the perfectly cooked steaks and almost licked my plate clean (the ramp pesto). The ravioli was perfectly cooked, stuffed with the best cheese I've had, and the sauce ....... I mean idk what they're doing back there but the sauces are CRACK. Also had the charred cucumber on the side snd I truly don't know how someone could make something like cucumber taste so damn good. (A reoccurring theme of the night) SERVICE: our server (Alisha) made our night so so wonderful. She had so many amazing recommendations (like the Selene and Palma cocktails which were sooo good) and was very attentive the whole night. We never went wondering where's our server or why is this taking so long or anything like that. It truly was fantastic service (she even comped us some amari for dessert for the birthday). It was late but our taste buds and stomachs decided to go with the flow. I was specifically impressed by the Brussels sprouts salad, which has a special dressing made of frisée, pancetta, chèvre and mustard vinaigrette; the cinnamon fried calamari which has a little spicy and sweet twist and octopus which is well cooked with a very nice presentation. Perfect spot to bring out of town visitors or just a nicer date! The place is popular but doesn't feel too crowded. This time we just stopped by for a drink and apps but were blown away! The calamari is made with hot peppers which made it some of the best I've ever tried. The Galassia is a drink made from a liquor similar to tequila that is popular in Peru and was absolutely delicious. Anniversary dinner with my love and I couldn't be more pleased with everything about our evening, from start to finish! Great staff, friendly and so very attentive. Minimalist style with an eclectic, upscale menu means that you can feel comfortable in heels and a little black dress, or a pair of Tevas and shorts. The Avocado Toast was honestly the best I've ever had, with this amazing aoli that was *Muah* TDF! The chicken was juicy and flavorful. The chevre stuffed ravioli was amazing too, with ground pistachios and soooo much flavor. The staff were so friendly and attentive, and even noticed it was our anniversary, wishing us well, and then surprised us with a free dish of this lovely sorbet to help us celebrate. My visit to Martina was such a great experience, and completely bowled me away! This is one of the few times I wish there was an option for a 5-star + rating. From the brunch menu, I was so impressed with the variety of Argentinian fusion options; and all of my food selections as well as the cocktails were delicious. The ambience of the resturant, and level of detail and panache with everything made my visit all that more special. Their super friendly staff were knowledgeable of the menu, ingredients and asked about potential allergies. We were given great recommendations for entrees/dishes that all translated the great ingredients into delectable dishes!!! Next time I'm in Minneapolis, I'll definitely be back!! I came to Martina several months ago and never got around to writing my review. It is located in the Linden Hills neighborhood in a cute little hub of a few other shops and restaurants (Sebastian Joe's ice cream is just across the street and makes for a great after dinner treat). Martina truly is one of the cutest restaurants I've been to recently. I love how open it is, it's in the heart of the Linden Hills neighborhood which is so tranquil and beautiful, and it's a simple, yet classic type of ambiance. We started with drinks, which was a glass of white wine for my friend and kombucha for me. Both were yummy. For appetizers we settled on the brussel sprouts salad (drool), the avocado toast, and empanadas. They change out their empanadas every few weeks and this week's were made with leeks, gorganzola, and chimichurri. Best thing I ate all night! And everything was tasty. Our server was such a delight and she recommended all of our food options. She did not disappointment :) The mushroom rigatoni was flavorful and filling. I also enjoyed the celery crab ravioli and could see myself ordering both of these again. The parking situation is a little less pleasant since it's solely street parking. I only had to walk a block which isn't super terrible. I made reservations as they tend to get pretty busy, but I will say what else I appreciated was not being rushed to eat and get out. We sat for a total of 2.5 hours and I noticed a few other tables did too. So that was much appreciated to really enjoy the experience. This is probably the most consistently delicious restaurant in the Twin Cities. I have been multiple times over the last several years and it's always been delicious. The space itself is cute, but can be a little cramped and uncomfortable (it's gotten pretty warm in there on several occasions, which made me uncomfortable). That said, the drinks, entrees, and desserts (especially the panqueque) are always great! I highly recommend the empanadas for an app, gnocchi or pappardelle for your main, and you literally can't go here and not have the panqueque for dessert. Eaten with the chimchurri sauce brought the flavor in this dish. The fried egg was a bit over cooked. The potato churros were better than expected! Get them. You won't regret it. Decor was beautiful. Gorgeous. Ordered the Avocado Bruschetta, Gnocchi, Salmon and the Chicken. Avocado Bruschetta: Eats like avocado toast. What an incredible bite. The bread is a thick cut piece of toast. Delicious. Topped with fresh herbs and roe which provides perfect saltiness. Gnocchi : Cooked perfectly. Topped with fresh cheese. I normally find Gnocchi boring to eat but this was pretty good Salmon: This was probably my least favorite but it was perfectly cooked. I didn't love the presentation. The fish is hidden under some greens. I also found a bone. Never the less, the salmon was good and the beurre blanc was tasty. Chicken: Incredible. I always say "chicken is chicken is chicken" but this was really well done. Delivered a lot of flavor. The star of this dish was the Labneh sauce at the bottom. It balanced out the whole dish. First time here. Went for brunch and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent and the food was very good. I got the Crab Eggs Benedict. It was good- eggs were perfectly cooked! Crab was a crab cake and I thought too much "bread" between that and the English muffin. My mom had the "BLT" and it was delicious! Amazing flavors. Parking was difficult (thanks to whoever it was that helped move the garbage bin so I could exit!) and it's pretty noisy (lively might be a better word!) inside but am very glad to have finally gotten to eat there! The restaurant is pretty loud which makes conversation difficult it's also jam packed which I love for the restaurant but when you're trying to have a dinner date it's a bit of a bummer. This was a restaurant where all the reviews and hype is sky high... so I was super excited to finally give it a go . We had a late reservation , we waited a bit to even be seen by the hostess. I was bummed I changed our reservation to inside , due to the weather . Inside the decor is very minimal , but gives like 5 star beach restaurant vibes, in Minneapolis. The lighting inside is AWFUL, way to dark . Our server was super nice , and helpful with the menu . She was very busy , so we did have many times we were left alone . Now for the food/ drinks Gaucho bola , which gave me Latin Moscow mule vibes . Smokey and spicy . I liked the clay cup it came in . Their were little white flowers for a garnish, we asked if we could eat them , our waitress said yes . DO NOT eat them , it was probably the worst thing I've ever eaten , I really can't even explain the flavor . We decided , probably mostly resembles poison . Ha All jokes aside it was an experience . - BROOKLYN BREWERY SPECIAL EFFECTS my friend had this non- alcoholic beer , she is sober . She was not a fan , so Erin kindly took it off for her . J liked it , thought it was a nice lighter hoppy beer . TROPICAL- she opted for this non-alcoholic choice. This made us feel like we were on the beach , very fruity and we loved the punch of carbonation . Starters - Seared scallops -- first off you only get two scallops, for the price I cannot wrap my head around it . The scallops we are not done correctly they were a bit spongey not buttery . The cauliflower was the star of the show, it was a bit charred and done to perfection . I'm not sure I understand the cauliflower purée , it was more like a sauce , very thin/ watery . I also thought it was very bland . Potato churros - the hype is worth the hype for these . I honestly probably just could have ordered two of these . They were done perfectly , nice and golden brown on the outside and a lovely soft potato filling . The spicy Mayo is good , but nothing too different, and the ketchup is just ketchup haha overall 10/10 recommend. Entrees SPAGHETTI FRA DIAVOLO WITH LOBSTER- she first asked for a side of Parmesan, and she came out with a large dish of light shredded cheese goodness . This dish was one of the waitresses favorites and I'm not sure I understand . My friend described the sauce as giving her " chef boyardee" vibes, and I'm gonna say she's on to something . The sauce was supposed to have spice, there was none , little to no salt ... very bland . The lobster was cut small, and way overdone . The noodles are al dente, which I understand is how it should be , but we like our noodles a bit more cooked . The Parmesan was a must !! 5/10 Now for my dish ... CELERY ROOT RAVIOLI- this by far is one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life, blow your mind type of dish . The presentation was beautiful. I have never had a dish that introduced my mouth to so many different flavor profiles in one bite . The ravioli was made and cooked to perfection . When you bite into one it does a little pop in your mouth , which I enjoyed . This ravioli is filled with a smooth celery root purée, that is beyond words . In each "chew"there was a new flavor and texture . There was a fresh lemon taste, a rich celery root taste , the sauce was light , there was some seed on top, that gave a little crunch . The king crab was done very well , but I don't think the dish needs it, because the ravioli is the show . This does get a little rich towards the end, but so worth it . 12/10 love this dish , and I honestly need it once a week haha Dessert We got the PANQUEQUE The "pancake" more like a crepe .. is filled with fresh bananas, topped with dulce de leche ice cream and covered in Carmel sauce and crushed Carmel . I am not usually a fan of banana much , but this dessert is phenomenal. We wished there was more of the ice cream , even though we are not sure it can be categorized as that . It is a mix between ice cream and whipped cream and boy is it a cloudy delight . The crushed Carmel gave pop rock vibes that I didn't know I needed . This is warm and turkey one of a kind . Great ambience, staff and fantastic food! We ordered appetizers and then parrillada for a party of three and it was a LOT of food! 18 hours later and I still feel full! The tuna tiradito is perfectly seasoned and the tuna was super fresh! The empanadas were absolutely delicious, with a leek and blue cheese filling and crispy on the outside. The calamari was delicious and the cinnamon batter is excellent, specially if you pair with the spicy mayo. The tongue bruschetta was delicious, tongue was perfectly cooked and the seasoning was fantastic! All shareable. The parrillada was excellent: came with sausage, bone marrow with chimichurri, sweetbreads and chorizo. The meat was cooked to perfection, the sausages were great, the bone marrow with chimichurri was delicious and a perfect combo of fatty and freshness. Martina was an absolute treat while visiting Minneapolis over this long weekend. I went with local friends for dinner and I was amazed by the thoughtful menu and perfect execution. The patio is comfy with several heaters, a wall that blocks the wind, and I think I saw blankets available as well if you get chilly. First of all, they touted their exceptional espresso martini so I decided to give that a go. It truly was exceptional. What a cute place! First of all does not feel like you are in the Midwest at all - high ceilings, with industrial but modern organic style with touches of cozy. It can be the place you get all dressed and feel fancy but all so be a casual spot. Loved the overall energy here! It was super busy when we went but have to say their service was excellent! Jeremy was our waiter and he really knew his stuff! He was very good to guide us to not over order but still feel full. The menu is broken down into 5 categories and we order 1 from each. For cold appetizers we had spicy tuna tiradito- this was small but delicious, not fishy, packed a ton of flavor and was actually spicy with a pate like texture. For the hot appetizers we had pea croquettes which were delicious little balls of fontina cheese, good portion size and delicious green goddess sauce. We had considered empanadas but Jeremy did let us know the dough contains pork lard since we don't eat pork that was a no for us. For the pasta I had the tagliolini with truffle which is seasonal and a must try- very rich and creamy, definitely kicks in that truffle flavor! My husband had the Norwegian salmon which was done to perfection, not fishy and the blanc was quite pleasant with it. The roe was like bursts of tart flavor and the herb salad complemented the whole dish. The potato churros were like elevated fries which I will definitely only be making fries this way! The caramel flan was also very good with a rich luxurious texture and hints of sweetness from caramel. For drinks we had the G&T which was a beautiful presentation and not your average G&T, very light and peppery. The Gaucho's bola was also delicious, Smokey and spicy and finally the Maravilla was also very good- light and lemony and paired well with the pasta. Crab Carbonara Pasta can be said to be one of my favorite pasta. But maybe this is often more about the different taste of the Crab. Highly recommended for those who like pasta. Lobster Toast. In fact, I was deeply attracted by the name of this dish at first. But the taste of this dish never disappoints. It can be said to be delicious.
