Not that this place needs another 5 star review... but this spot has been on my list forever. Finally made a reservation on a Friday at 8pm outside. Perfect time for a summer outdoor meal, because it's just as the sun sets and the temps drop! We ate the apps so fast I forgot to even take a picture. We got the Spicy Tuna Tiradito. A raw dish with a lot of bright flavors! We also had the Seared Scallops app, and it went down quick. The cocktails were also amazing. Of the 4 we had, my favorite was the Gauchos Bola! It had a delicious smoky finish! For the main course we decided on Norwegian Salmon, and the Celery Root Ravioli. Although both were delicious, my partner was jealous of my Ravioli and said he'd order that next time. Before it even reached my lips I caught the smell of the butter sauce and exclaimed "this is great!"Hadn't even made it into my mouth yet. For dessert we ordered two... because it was a "TREAT YO SELF" day. The desserts were larger than anticipated and we were stuffed. Can't recommend Martina enough. We recently visited for a birthday dinner, and it was such a fun, novel experience that they brought house-made vermouth for my husband and even an NA version for me since I noted I was driving/wouldn't be drinking. Such a nice gesture! We got the mussels for our app -- I'm not even a big mussels person but these hit. And I could have just eaten the grilled country bread dipped in the sauce for my whole meal and been happy. But it's good I didn't! Because we split the mushroom rigatoni and the tagliatelle. We thought we'd need to counterbalance the tagliatelle with a veggie pasta because it'd be too heavy, but it absolutely wasn't -- they were able to balance it out so it didn't feel like a meat bomb. I've been to Colita and Rosalia, so I needed to finish up my food tour with Martina! I had heard rave reviews, so I was very excited about my visit. First thing to be aware of is that the menu changes. I believe it might be with the seasons, but unsure. I had lots of recommendations from friends, but sadly a lot of them were not available on this menu. I went here with a group of 5 of us for a birthday, so we were here to try everything! Note: Make sure to mention if there's a birthday in your group! We all got a complimentary glass of their signature vermouth (I personally was not a fan, but my friends loved it!) and a large scoop of raspberry sorbet with some cookie crumbles on it. Service overall was great, we were consistently checked on and food/drinks came out fast! Only thing I was frustrated about was that I wanted a reservation for the patio, but online it had said it was sold out. When we got there, there was barely anyone on the patio. I guess they must just reserve the majority of it for walk ins? However, the cool and calm ambiance of the inside made up for it. Felt like an upscale restaurant at a resort in the tropics CASAMARI: A delicious and spice forward drink. Although I loved this, it definitely gives fall vibes with the warmth of the spices and flavor. I wish I had gotten the spritz like my friends to feed into the summer vibes. EMPANADAS: Absolutely delicious. Note, there are only 2 in an order. The inside was flavorful and the outside was doughy and light. CHARRED BRUSSELS SPROUT SALAD: The perfect light salad to share. The amount was great for 5 people splitting 2 apps. The dressing and sprouts made up the majority of the flavor on this, but I didn't mind. CACIO E PEPE AGNOLOTTI: This was the star for me. Who thought such a basic dish could be so flavorful? It was rich and buttery and starch-y and cheesy. I loved that they were like small raviolis bursting with flavor. BUCATINI WITH SPRING PESTO: This one was a bit of a let-down for me. I felt that the pesto was way to acidic, to the point where it made it a bit hard to eat. There was also a spice in there that I didn't care for, not sure what it was. POTATO GNOCCI: A delicious classic. Nothing very special, but nonetheless worth a try if you're more traditional. POTATO CHURROS: Definitely a must-try here. 2 orders was too many for 5 of us, so I would recommend just one (it comes with 5-ish churros). This is like if mashed potatoes and french fries and twice baked potatoes had a baby. Fried and delicious. I do wish there were some more unique sauces served with it though. Overall, a great special occasion spot to split and try things with friends, but I wouldn't find myself a regular here since it does run a bit pricey. read more

Had a dinner reservation here for 7:30 pm Tuesday night. Our party notified the restaurant ahead of time that we would arrive a few minutes late. The worst part of the entire experience was waiting for a half hour to get a table when we already had a reservation. We were starving, so we ended up going to the bar and ordered a few appetizers and drinks while waiting for our table. It didn't take too long for our appetizers and drinks to came out. We got a potato churro, avocado bruschetta, and grilled beef tongue bruschetta to start the night. The potato churro and avocado bruschetta were incredible. The potato was so creamy and melted in my mouth. The smoked roe in the avocado bruschetta really lifted the dish and made it unique and smoky delicious. The grilled beef tongue bruschetta wasn't bad, but it was overshadowed by all the other excellent dishes. Once we had had some food, we felt instantly better. Our table was finally ready a few minutes after we started enjoying our appetizers a little after 8 pm. After we were seated at a table, service was prompt and friendly. The table felt small for our party of four, but still much better than sitting at the bar. A coworker and I shared a spaghetti fra diavolo with lobster and seared scallops to save some room for dessert. Both were good but not memorable. For dessert, all four of us shared a panqueque and a chocolate hazelnut torte. They were so good and compliment each other really well. The chocolate hazelnut torte was rich. The panqueque was lighter, and I did scrape clean the dulce de leche because it was that good. It was the perfect amount of food for me, although I wouldn't have minded 1-2 fewer appetizers. Overall, I would recommend budgeting a lot of time in case you need to wait a while despite having a reservation. The Diners Club made our way over to Martina for our monthly session. Can I start by saying the hospitality was nice from the host staff to our waiter. The inside has modern feel to it, and a vibe that its own. Definitely some place I'll go again.. It was a Saturday so we dined from the brunch menu. For my drink I went with the Dorata. This cocktail mixed with moscatel sherry, golden beet, strawberry, vodka , lemon and honey was so refreshing to my taste buds. It's definitely added to the brunch cocktails list. For my entree I opted for the Jalapeño Burger juicy topped with white cheddar and corn. This burger was perfectly cooked and the toppings made it even juicer. My only disappointment is that all the juice makes the bottom bun soggy, so a slight turn off. I definitely give this space a 5 out 5. Take this with a grain of salt because I've never had octopus before and it's just like other fish but a bit more tough. AMBIANCE: very upscale and comfortable. Great for a fancy date (or anniversary, in my case)! SERVICE: didn't exceed expectations but didn't fall short either. We appreciated that they had a specific menu for dairy free options (or how to make things dairy free). Love, love, love this place because of its hip yet welcoming vibe and the crazy good flavors of the food. I'm slow to finally try this place. My partner took me here for my birthday last week after receiving recommendations from so many of our friends. This was such a happy surprise for me as I have been meaning to try this for so long, but have been looking for a special occasion. The neighborhood is pretty cool with a well known local bakery chain next door as well as a Sebastian Joe's ice cream stop. They have a small parking lot along the side and back which had some spots open for us when we came (Wednesday night ~7:30 pm). We had a reservation, but there were a number of open seats so I think you could probably walk-in and be seated without issue. In fact, we were actually running late and they moved our reservation for us back 30 min with no issue which was very kind. Their menu is high end Argentinian food, with a large number of pasta and seafood dishes. We decided to get a few things to share: spaghetti fra diavola with lobster, Norwegian Salmon, Potato Churros, and the Panqueque for dessert. The Spaghetti Fra Diavola with Lobster was perfect, tasted like fresh homemade pasta in a very flavorful tomato based sauce that has a little kick but nothing overwhelming at all, even for the Minnesota palate, topped with a very healthy portion of lobster. Everything about this dish was delicious and I would definitely order this again! The Norwegian Salmon was another hit, with a little bit of a gentle smoky flavor served with a beurre blanc which was delicate and worked very well with the salmon. The salmon was topped with a hefty portion of herbs which was pleasant, but I think it was a bit unbalanced with how much there was compared to how much salmon there was. Nonetheless, a perfectly cooked fish with a great sauce. For the side, we got potato churros which were basically the ultimate form of French fries. They were not sweet like traditional cinnamon sugar churros, but instead tasted more like a thick French fry with a crispy outside and an extremely soft and mashed potato-esque inside. I thought this was a very unique dish and I really enjoyed the play on both French fries and churros. Excellent side choice, I recommend everyone try this when they go. And lastly, for dessert, we finished the night with the Panqueque which was my personal, ultimate, ideal dessert. It was basically a very soft pancake/crepe wrapped around a beautifully caramelized banana and dulce de leche, and then topped with more dulce de leche, homemade whipped cream, and these nice sugar rocks. I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it! Martina is a beautiful restaurant with an equally beautiful menu. A perfect place to celebrate that special moment! read more

The most perfect impromptu brunch experience one can ask for was here at Martina. They have a wide variety of elevated traditional brunch options and unique cocktails. I ordered an off-menu espresso martini. So glad I ordered this off-the-cuff drink. It was the perfect combo of sweet, salty, and picturesque. I had the choripan as my brunch dish. It's obvious there is a high caliber of sourcing ingredients and putting this dish together. All the flavors perfectly melded together- the crispy bread, melty low profile cheese, and robust flavorful, chrorizo topped with my choice of egg, garnished with oodles fresh parsley. Please come here for brunch! Then swing by the Lake Harriet Rose Garden if it is early spring too late fall . Everything we had here was amazing. The crab Benedict was so flavorful and had a great texture with the sea beans. The hollandaise sauce was rich, but not sweet, the texture was like velvet. My friend had an egg that was pretty rock hard and they did replace it. The empanadas were a gooey Gorgonzola leek mixture with an amazing chimichurri sauce that added some spice. Service was extremely fast, we got our food within 10 minutes of ordering it. The salmon and burrata had a pistachio oil that was a great compliment to the Burrata. What an amazing meal! They are accommodating to children with high chairs and kid friendly water. The mussels are amazing. The duck pappardelle and the lobster spaghetti were fresh and flavorful. The potato churros and crispy, but those and the bread were just a bit too salty. It's beautiful inside, very romantic and sophisticated. I've eaten at Martina a couple of times now and it's just lovely. The appetizers and dessert are unmatched, I cannot recommend the Black Velvet Cake enough. Both times my entrees weren't my favorite thing, but that could be personal preference. The vibe of Martina is great albeit a bit loud. As a visitor from out of town last week, I had high expectations of this restaurant due to the high reviews. It looked like a nice place for dinner, but I encountered some issues. The service was slow - took forever to place my order and get a drink. I ordered the seared scallops, but once the food arrived, it was room temperature and tasted like it was previously made and sitting around for a while. I ate it anyway because I was hungry. A couple of hours later at the hotel I was getting stomach cramps followed by a bad case of diarrhea. Luckily, I got through the night with little sleep. My friends surprised me here for my birthday dinner and our server was so accommodating and helped them. She also gave us each a glass of champagne on the house which really made the evening! We all ordered drinks and everyone raved about their cocktails; it's a great place to try something new, and the presentation makes it even better. There are many places to be seated, we were seated in a space just off the main room and bar area. I found it cozy. The waitress was lovely and was so helpful with choosing and guiding our decisions. I got more of a fru fru drink that was delicious. I love a drink that looks as good as it tastes. We ordered to split the potato churros and they were amazing. Similar to a tater tot or a very soft fry. I would recommend those. And the dish was Cacio E Pepe Agnolotti which was divine. Highly recommend either choice. Recently came here when my sister was in town and it was excellent! We ate all the things: brussels sprout salad, mussels, gnocchi, octopus, and the panqueque. The stars were the brussels salad and the panqueque for sure! Don't miss either of those. The mussels were a lot for just two people, but soaking up the sauce with the bread was great. We also got a few drinks: casamari, mastiha spritz, and one other that I can't remember the name of... either way they were all good as well. The presentation of all the food and drinks was really impressive, especially the octopus. The pork chop and potato churros were amazing highly recommended, the bucatini was OK. We also had two cocktails the maravilla and casamari. It got a little loud but nothing too crazy. The space is beautiful. The service is OK. We ordered our drinks and appetizers and they took a while to get our main dish order. Wow. This restaurant is the epitome of what I am looking for in my dining experiences. First things first: the ambience is old world meets new world. The greenery scattered around the rooms brings a lot of life to the place. Our waiter was very attentive and did a wonderful job of explaining the elements of many of the dishes he recommended. We started with the Brussels sprouts salad and the calamari. That calamari was something else, let me tell you. The cinnamon encrusted into the jalapeño and batter for the squid really made this dish unique. The Brussels sprouts were also packed full of flavor. I ordered the caserecce. I thought it was cooked perfectly but I think the flavors were a little to heavy and it was missing an element to balance it out. However, we also ordered the celery root ravioli. Who knew celery root would taste so good! This pasta had a nice sweet element that balanced the rest of the flavors. The potato churros are also an interesting dish to try.
