If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Issues were with service department. On a Friday before a long weekend of travel, I took the car in for service to brakes. Feeling like I had taken good care of the car before a long ride with family passengers, I picked the car up at closing time and immediately headed out on a high speed interstate. After about 100 miles, I was (miraculously) able to hear noises coming from a wheel. I pulled off the highway and found that 2 lug nuts of 5 were missing from one wheel and a third was loose. I slowly limped the car to a shop where the techs jumped their service queue, and put the car on the lift to find that all lug nuts on another wheel were also loose. I called the Matt Slap service department to notify them of what happened. Service manager had left for the day. I left my name and phone number and a description of the experience. We continued on our way, and returned home from the weekend on a Sunday. I received no phone call from service either at my house or on my cell phone to apologize for the terrifying experience or the careless work of the service tech. When I made a call to Matt Slap on Monday, the service manager asked why I was calling, since everything turned out fine and the shop that looked at the car, replaced the missing lug nuts and tightened the others did not charge me anything. I have never gone back there again for any reason and never will. read more

I would recommend you avoid this dealership when considering your next car purchase. I recently bought a 2013 Subaru Impreza, and although they did sell me the car at the price discussed online (a good deal compared to other places), they also decided to tac on a $2000 extended warranty without my knowledge. I was told, while signing the paperwork, the $2000 charge represented the accrued interest from the loan. They repeatedly told me my warranty was "included" with the vehicle. Only after reviewing the paperwork a month after purchase, did I realize the "included" warranty equated to the extra $2,000 they has misled me into purchasing. I didn't realize sleezy car salesman actually still existed, but with my experience with Matt Slap Subaru, that is certainly how I feel about them now. In full disclosure, I had left the dealership feeling very happy and excited about my new car on the day of purchase. My initial impression was that everyone was very nice and friendly there. My opinion has since completely changed given the outright lying and deception I experienced. read more

My husband and I set up an afternoon and drove a 30 minute commute to Matt Slap Subaru after doing ample research on the WRX/STI model. We arrived and were greeted by a salesman named Chris. We looked over the car for a few minutes and asked if we could look inside. Chris went and (with lackluster) retrieved the keys. After looking inside, we inquired about test driving the car...In my opinion, a very common next step to making a decision to wanting to BUY the car. He then told us that they don't let people test drive the car unless they have a deal in place!? Why would you buy a $41,000 car without driving it first? He then proceeded to tell us that they have a lot of "kids" who have interest in the car who don't purchase it. We are in our late 30's and have zero interest in wasting our time and someone else's time for the sake of a joyride. We were extremely insulted and felt disrespected. To make it worse, my husband wrote an email and never received a response. They lost our sale because of this. I do not recommend this place. I guess Chris made enough sales for the month and didn't need ours. read more

My Fiancé and I came in Friday 4/31 to "look" at legacy's, . Well looking turned into her buying a 2016 Legacy with 5k miles. I feel like we got a great deal and they even gave us a great trade in value for her car. Matt Pyle was our salesman and he was very laid back and wasn't pushy at all. He got the payment that we were looking for and we couldn't be happier to now have a Subaru! The only disappointment was that we had to stop at the gas station right after we bought the car. It had under half a tank left. Definitely didn't expect that but other than that we had a great experience. Edit: Originally gave 4 stars but after thinking about it I had to reduce the stars for the gas situation. While we probably should have called right away ( they closed after we left) I feel like after making a big purchase (buying the car) you shouldn't have to worry about filling the tank. I guess the little things just bug me about this... All in all we are happy with the Legacy and will continue to Purchase Subaru's but next time we will double check the amount of gas in the tank. read more

Not only did they lose a sale, they lost future customers. One of their salesmen decided he was too busy chatting with the 'guys' to help me once he determined going in as a single woman what my purchasing status was. Not only was I told to "go down the street" to other car dealers, when I asked to see a vehicle on the lot the car was clicked open while he stood inside chatting with his co-workers. Stereo type car salesmanship. Dealt with a sales man for a week but the weather/ice/snow prevented me from getting in to the dealer. Got a loan and made an offer. Sales man didn't work on Friday so I waited till Saturday, because I was wanting to give him the deal. Sent an email with the " true car" price Saturday morning and called to say I'd be there mid day. He said "ok". When I arrived another buyer, testing another dealers car, was there with the sales rep I waited for. Sales rep said his Manager told him he had to sell to the buyer who was there first. I feel so bad that the sales staff at this dealer are so disenfranchised that the establishment Makes them disregard integrity and ethics. That they are unable to stand up and say "hey, this woman has been trying to get here but there have been two major winter storms and she waited an extra day until I was back in the office so she could give ME THE SALE. I love the Subaru I bought from this dealer 12 years ago. I love the one I bought from another dealer last night. The brand is awesome! The dealer SUCKS. Just sleazy. read more

I bought a Subaru Impreza STI new in 2010 from this dealership. I did not have much of a problem with the sales staff, although they do the typical low ball trade-in offer for your vehicle. My only real complaint with the transaction was they would not give me a five year registration typical for a new vehicle saying they would have to charge me more for it. My main complaint is with the service department. Everyone at the front desk comes across as friendly and they have nice loaner cars. But as I have found on multiple occasions now, they do not call you to tell you your car is done despite promising so. My most recent incident will be my last. I notified them around 8:30am Tuesday that my car was dead and it was going to be towed in that morning and they said they would have no problem taking a look at it. It got there around 11:30am and again they said they would take a look at it soon. I did not hear anything from them that day so when I called the following day (Wednesday), they said they still had not looked at it and they would call me back around noon. At 3pm when I had still not heard anything, I called again and they said the problem had been diagnosed and they would have to order a new starter. They stated parts are only shipped on Tuesdays and Thursdays and with Thursday being 4th of July it would not ship until maybe next week. Had they looked at it on the day they said they would, they could have ordered the part and had it shipped that afternoon. They stated they would call me Saturday to confirm. They did not call. Tuesday (now a week after I had the car in) I had to place the call again, the person answering was completely oblivious as to why my car was there saying that the part that was replaced two weeks ago had already been fixed. Yes, I am aware. Eventually, he finds someone to tell him that my part had not arrived and then hung up. I have no timetable for when the car will be fixed, if anyone is addressing it, or why no one seems to know what is going on. I guess I can add in that during the previous repairs that were made, someone removed the screws from my center arm rest and did not put them back. I have no idea why this was done, as this seems unrelated to fixing an air valve in the engine compartment. I cringe now when I think back to the slip of paper they gave me when I purchased the car that said "We owe you: great service". $37,000 cash for this car gets you great service until you drive off the lot. read more

Recently bought a Forester from Matt Slap for a more competitive price than offered by dealers in my area. Tucker from internet sales was a pleasure to work with. I appreciated that he diligently followed up with my credit union on several occasions to work through my somewhat complicated situation, while keeping me informed throughout the process. For continuity, I would have preferred to continue to work with Tucker when I arrived at the dealership. While the sales people who took over were fine, it was initially off-putting to have to deal with someone new when you arrive rather than with someone with whom you've already been in contact. Would buy from this dealer again. read more

Lied about everything and screwed up the paper work so that I had to pay an additional $500 in tag fees. Everybody makes mistakes he said. Han screws up YOU pay. Dropped my Outback off at the local dealer Monday night 11/20 for a Tuesday service to get new rubber and I picked up a loaner Outback. Tuesday afternoon I called the dealer around 3 and asked when I could pick up the car? I was on hold for a while, then a woman picked up the phone and said she was sorry for the long hold and can someone call me right back. I said sure and went on with my day. About 30 minutes later I get a call from their service manager.... He proceeds to tell me that while they were installing one of my tires the machine went haywire and they gashed my rim... ugh! They said they would fix it at no charge and it would be done asap. They told me to keep the loaner and they would call when the car is done. Wednesday afternoon rolls around, and still no phone call. Again, I called the dealership, they stated that they had to ship out the rim to a third-party because they couldn't repair the gash in house and that the rim would not be completed until Monday 11/28 due to the Holiday... This is getting really frustrating now! Around 3 PM I called them today(11/28), and they said that the rim is back in, and someone would call me when I could pick up the car. They made it sound like it was going to be today. Well I'm home now, in the loaner and they never called... All this for New Tires! So much for convenience... I will never use this dealership again. I'm really beginning to wonder if there wasn't more damage that I'm not being told about and if this was just a ruse so they could keep the car longer to try to fix other things. I would give them negative stars if I could! I should have never strayed from a dealership that has always taken care of me. If you live in De or Pa, do yourself a favor and go to Rafferty Subaru in Edgemont. I have bought many cars their over the years, and every aspect of that dealership is TOP NOTCH!! read more

Salesman will be very friendly and do a lot and say a lot to gain trust (typical). Salesman name: Han Dervish. Salesman said he had never heard of the Subaru Guaranteed Trade-In Program (GTP): http://www.subaru.com/finance-center/guaranteed-trade-in-program/index.html They will try to give you less than the (GTP) for your Subaru trade-in. I mentioned when I went to buy my new car that I received a letter from Subaru saying my car was worth more than what they were offering, and the salesman brushed it off as "marketing". The salesman also shook my hand on a negotiated price for the new car. 20 minutes later he came back saying he had made a mistake and needed to increase the price by a couple hundred dollars. The financing lady tried to pull a fast one on me as well for a couple hundred dollars. When I went to sign the finance papers, I noticed that the price of the car was higher than the final agreed upon price. First she said that it was some sort of "processing/prep fee" that was built in, and then I pointed out that she had listed the "processing/prep fee" further down in the final document. She then said that she had made a mistake and that it was actually a transfer fee for theft insurance from the dealer to me for the car. They were doing me the favor of transferring it to me for a couple hundred dollars. She rushed me through the process of signing in hopes that I would miss this. Her words were, "No one has ever turned that insurance down". I replied to her that maybe no one else had ever noticed this bogus theft insurance "transfer fee" before, as it was not even itemized on any document I signed. It was just added to the final negotiated price of the car. read more

Be really careful when purchasing a used car here. The people do not tell you the truth. They actually sell damaged cars without inform customers the truth. And the sales person are like you bought it and that's not our problem. They said sometimes they don't look at Carfax reports! Ridiculous. Do not trust the Carfax report they showed you, buy another one by yourself. They will not solve your problem either. The service is also bad. Buy a car somewhere else. read more

Here is my advice - DO NOT GO TO MATT SLAP FOR REPAIRS. AND, DO NOT BUY A CAR THERE IF YOU INTEND TO USE THE DEALERSHIP TO DO YOUR CAR MAINTENANCE. AND FINALLY, IF YOU DO BUY A CAR FROM THEM AND THEY OFFER YOU THE DISCOUNTED MAINTENANCE PACKAGE AS PART OF THE UPSELL, DONT TAKE IT! The service here is horrendous. Let me recount the ways. A couple of months ago I scheduled an appointment to bring in my new Outlook to have some mud flaps installed. Initially I was going to have a bumper guard installed, but I changed my mind and called them to tell them to remove this from my order. When I came in I reiterated that I did not want the bumper guard and they agreed that this is what was on the work order. 4 hours later, twice as long as they told me the mud flap installation was going to take place, the car was finally ready. And yes they installed the bumper guard anyway. The person there acknowledged that the bumper guard was not supposed to be installed, but he had no authority to do anything about it and told me a manager would call me. Then a few weeks later I received the bill for the mud flap and bumper guard installation. No call from the manager, no discussion, no explanation, nothing. After calling them and discussing this for a long time, wasting a lot of time I will never get back, the manager was gracious enough to charge me for the bumper guard, but gave me two free oil changes as compensation. The next time I called was to set up an appointment to replace a defective latch that caused my gas cap to stay closed and made it very difficult to pump gas. I was told that this was a common issue and they would order the part and call when it was in. 4 weeks later they still hadn't called, so I called to check on availability. They said it was there waiting for me. The only good thing is that they had taken so long that it was now time for my free oil change. So I made another appointment. As you may have guessed by now, when I got there they didn't have any record of my appointment. But apparently I wasn't the only one with a missing appointment. Looks like they have problems with software too. They were able to squeeze me in for the oil change, but, wait for it, they didn't have the gas cap part, even after their previous assurances that they had it waiting for me. So guess what - I have to make ANOTHER appointment to get that fixed. I got 2 different stories from 2 people there. One said that it is a recall issue and one said no, it isn't a recall issue. But the real problem is that I have to waste part of another day off to take my car into Matt Slap. Maybe this time they will get it right. Also, one person says the part should be there in a couple of days and the other said it would be a couple of weeks. What Matt Slap doesn't realize is that they can never pay us back for the time we give up taking the car back for repairs that weren't completed the first time. They have to get it right the first time. So now I have to take a big chunk of another day off to spend it with Matt Slap read more

After researching for a safe & reliable vehicles through Edmunds, Gov.com & anywhere else I could find, we decided on the Subaru Forester. Going though our USAA website to have quotes sent to our email, I was flooded with phone calls from dealerships from 50 miles to home. After going to the dealership closest to home (Prestige Subaru), we couldn't deal with any more bad sales talk! I answered the calls on Thursday (8/7/14) with "I'm buying today and only want to know your best price for features I want"! Most gave me the "come in and we'll go over features". Done! Next?!!! Harry Marker from Matt Slap Subaru called and was one of the very few, to be helpful and gave me a bottom line; even bettering it with something he found on the lot that he thought I might like!! We walked in that night to a dealership that was full of NICE guys that were a pleasure to talk to!!! From the guy that was detailing the vehicle we chose, to the Manager of the dealership, we were very pleasantly surprised and felt it was worth driving from South Jersey to Newark, De because of the honest, straight forward conversations with everyone we encountered there. Everything was written up and done without being pressured to purchase whatever they could come up with! Without a doubt, we will be returning to Harry at Matt Slap for any future purchases! We've already recommended them to several friends. We bought the car 8/07/14 and I will update on future dealings. But, as of now; this is the place to go if you don't like fast talking salesman trying to pressure you and prefer to deal with someone you feel is a great neighbor you enjoy talking to over the fence!
