Visited early evening. Place was almost deserted - it took a wait to get seated, then another wait for a server. He was very friendly - things were looking up! Took our drink order - two drinks. Left, then came back and asked what it was that we ordered. He left again, then came back to say they were out of mangos, so no mango margarita. Confirmed salt/no salt for mine, took our food order, then bustled off. I ordered cheese enchiladas with queso topping. I can't express how awful they were. No seasoning, straight Velveeta zapped in the microwave (inside and on top of the tortilla!) I asked for charro beans - got re-fried. He replaced that. I've visited another location of Mattito's and enjoyed it. I'm not sure what happened here. It was awful. One plus: the salsa was very tasty - chips were fresh and crisp. And, finally, the skinny margarita was great! Lesson learned here: great place to drink - awful, inedible food. read more

Took the family here for XMAS eve lunch, we were a group of 12. I cannot say enough good things about the service and food. We had queso and drinks to start which were good and the salsa here is great. We had a few in our group make special requests and every dish arrived hot and perfect. We do love Mattito's, we go every Saturday. The food is delicious, service is fabulous. Tere has become our favorite waitress. She always has a beautiful smile for us and takes such wonderful care of all of us individually. When we walk in she verifies our regular drink orders and puts our son's food order in immediately, he feels very special and loved. She's professional, friendly, caring and pleasure to see. I was excited to come here and am disappointed. I ordered a ground beef taco salad with a soup. The beef was not fully cooked. Soup was meh. Service was good but what really will keep me away from this place is how dirty it is. The bar, which is where I sat, looks as if it hasn't had a thorough cleaning in years. Do not order draft or frozen anything in this place. Those machines have not been cleaned. Take a look at the wall by the frozen margarita machines. Again, service was good, the bartender was good even with being so busy; but hygiene at this place is lacking. read more

Quite literally the dumbest people on Earth work here. Been going here for years because it's a convenient location and food is average, but there's ALWAYS some issue: food is wrong, or they don't answer the phone, or they answer the phone but put me on hold for 15 minutes or just hang up altogether, or they hand me someone else's order entirely, or we get seated and then forgotten for 30 minutes. But today was the final straw: I placed an order for pickup, which got read back correctly over the phone (3 entrees, 3 margaritas), but when I arrived, the order on the receipt was wrong (2 correct items, 1 incorrect item that wasn't ordered, plus a 4th item that was a duplicate), but whatever... the family was hungry and I wasn't going to wait around for another 25 minutes for them to fix ANOTHER screw-up, so I paid, got what I thought was my food and left. Got home and discovered they had only given me 2 out of the 4 entrees I paid for, 1 of which was the item NO ONE had ordered in the first place, so back I go. I figured the rest of the order would be just sitting off to the side, but nope! They had no clue. On the receipt copy, I put check marks next to the 2 items I received and then circled the remaining 2 AND wrote "missing" next to each of them to show someone. I explained it to the guy at the bar, but apparently, thinking isn't a strength of his because that wasn't clear enough. When I got home the second time, I found they had just duplicated the 2 items I had ALREADY received (both of which did not have "missing" written next to them). I'm done and NEVER going back. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else with better service and better food. These people are either totally incompetent or just outrageously stupid. (My money is on the latter.) read more

Came For Lunch to an empty restaurant just to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated. I used to be able to talk to the guy host about the wait time and he knew how long it was going to take, as well as which server I tend to request. As I got seated I Immediately saw a ROACH Coming out from within the walls. Whan asked to speak to the general manager he did not bother to come to my table from getting a response back to say that "HE IS TOO BUSY AT THE MOMENT. Don't Recommend Anyone to bother coming here if you have a sensitive stomach. I use love coming by for the happy hour that yall had all day but don't like the experience and the atmosphere from when I walk in and not get greeted or bother to be seated. What I hate more than anything else is a bait n switch! Thier happy hour promises free appetizers with purchase of a drink but what they don't tell you is its only I'm the bar area which they automatically seat you in the dining are when you come in. Now true enough I didn't ask but she offered the appetizers after I ask for the happy hour menu. Super disappointed. I paid this bill and tipped but will most likely not be back. read more

We were stuck in traffic headed downtown for some Mexican food. Got off 75 at Forest Lane and discovered an unknown (to us) gem! Mattito's was excellent! Richard, our waiter was friendly, quick witted, and on the ball with our food and drinks. The fajitas were so delicious and plentiful (more than enough for 2). If you're looking for traditional Mexican food, look no further. Mattito's is the place to go! I ordered a combo fajita plate and a beef quesadilla. Everything came out piping hot and fresh. The chicken and beef were cooked perfectly. They have happy hour until 6pm Monday-Thursday's. And $4 ritas on Tuesday's :) only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because we asked for something non greasy and instead our server bought out a quesadilla with A LOT of cheese. Not bad if you're in to it :) they'll also immediately serve you chips and salsa when you walk in and are very nice and friendly! read more

We have loved Mattito's since we found it on Oak Lawn in the early 1990's, with the 'Bob Armstrong' & mariachis. Love that we have one in North Dallas to visit whenever we have a hankering! Last week I ordered a pickup order for 20ppl for Friday afternoon. Chose the beef & chicken fajitas with a Party Bob appetizer and extra guacamole & queso. Our 20 adult guests were all very satisfied, and VERY complimentary of the delicious food, and that is coming from a group of 'foodies'! We were all so impressed with how this location didn't skimp on any part of the meal - plenty of everything! And they packed it up so nicely** and brought it out to my car.
