Excellent food. Had the soltani kebab and it was one of the best. Dining room is crowded and where we sat was uncomfortable (front of dining room near the window). No chairs, just a pillow on a wood bench with no back support. Table was very low as a result. But it wasn't too bad. Food was awesome. We had the Chelo-kebab Koobideh (ground beef/lamb) and the chicken breast kabobs. Plates were huge and tasty. Service was not awesome. Last evening my husband and I had food delivered from Maykadeh. Unfortunately, the dinners (beef filet kabob and chicken kabob) were overpriced. The chicken was dry and overcooked. The black delivery boxes were filled primarily with white rice, then one broiled tomato, part of a broiled onion and a reasonable portion of each protein. The eggplant/feta cheese appetizer was the only semi-acceptable part of the meal. It is the first and last time that we will be visiting or ordering from this restaurant in our neighborhood. read more

We had a fabulous dinner here. I'm not usually a huge fan of eggplant, but the eggplant appetizer was incredible. As was the feta. Our meat entrees (baby chicken, lamb, beef) were all flavorful and cooked to perfection. Top all that off with tasty wine and baklava for dessert, and it was deliciousness all around! I came here looking for some Persian food since I love Persian food. I always judge a Persian restaurant by their rice . The rice quality used here was not basmati and I think that is the best rice. It was also not fully flavored by saffron, they had used saffron sparingly. The food was just average so I will give it 3 stars. read more

I have been to Maykadeh several times in the past and it used to be "THE" place that I would recommenced today however, the food was subpar to say the least. Rice was most certainly not Basmati as it should have been, it was something like Uncle Ben's which is a NO NO as far as Persian food goes. Not good, specially at those prices. read more

Excellent food! A little too pricy though. It is a homey small restaurant in SF with wonderful tasty menu. The bad thing about it is only parking space just like anywhere else in SF you will get lucky to find a space to park your car or you would have to use the valet parking or pricy parking lots. read more

Food was quite good. However, we certainly felt rushed. Main course was brought quickly and dropped on table well before appetizer had been finished. As a result table was way crowded and we had to hurry in order to finish appetizer so that main course would not become cold. Check was dropped off with out asking if we were interested in dessert/coffee etc...We felt they just wanted to turn the table. Baklava was extremely dry and I would pass on this. Additionally, in attempting to pay, we were informed the restaurant does not accept AMEX cards. No where was this disclosed up front. What would happen if we had no other form of payment? read more

This place is great. They serve yummy food and the restaurant is very clean. The atmosphere is classy but casual and the service is really good. The kababs are juicy and delicious. The BEST! We drive in from Alameda and take our kids! The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. We always order the Koobideh (AMAZING) and the Poussin (baby chicken). The flavors of the food are out of this world! When ordering dessert, my son (8 years old) asked for another order of the Poussin! He brought it to school for lunch! Always a place we go to in San Francisco. They have friendly waiters, who are persian, like us. Whenever we get take out the nice waiter brings us tea (which tastes just like it is back home)- for free. The food is delicious, and at a reasonable price for persian cuisine. The iced tea is amazing also. At a good location also. My dad can never seem to find parking though haha. And it tastes just like the real stuff back home guys, it's not just another chain restarunt. The food is good by the service is nothing to brag about. They tend to hire cheap servers that barely speak English and have no training to serve in a restaurant in this price range. Trying to maximize your profit by reducing the service quality is not a good business decision for a restaurant! read more

During our visit to San Francisco, the whole family craved a Persian meal. So we went to Maykadeh just to be disappointed 4 folds. -- When we entered, we found the place unbearably hot. When I asked if their AC was broken, The owner said "oh no, it is 72 degrees" and just turned on the overhead fan. If it was not for my kids who were hungry at the time, I would have turned around and left. 1 - The environment was bad. -- I believe the food was prepared by an oriental chef - not Persian to know what the food should be like. It was horrible. Nothing like what we were expecting from Persian food that we have been accustomed to. 2 - The food was bad to put it mildly. -- When the owner left the restaurant with an elderly gentleman (possibly his dad), then the staff started on drinking wine and having their own little party. We had to keep asking for service. 3 - So you could say the service was bad. -- The price for the food quality and service was way too high. Also, they serve sodas in small glasses so you need refills. Of course, these guys also charge for the refills. 4 - The dining was overpriced. -- We were extremely disappointed as well as some of us grossed out at the quality of the food. If I knew all this, I would have definitely picked another place to dine. read more

I've tried a lot of Persian food, and the food here was amazing! This place is one of the best Persian restaurants in California. The eggplant dip (Kashk Bademjoon) was the best, and I love the other appetizers; vegetables and dips Mast o Musir, and Mast o Kiar (tasted like sour cream and onion). Most importantly, the meats were very tasty. I would definitely recommend it for quality and service. The only minor gripe; I wish the place had some degree of traditional Persian decor, as the ambiance makes the experience more enjoyable. read more
