Convenient and well-balanced build-your-own bowls! They give a good amount of food, and it comes with a lentil soup too. Overall tasty and good quality ingredients! I usually don't like beets but thought theirs are pretty tasty. Pomegranate chicken was a little salty for me but tasted great when eaten with the rest of the bowl. Service is fast and friendly but mostly self-serviced--you get your own water/utensils and bus your own stuff at the end. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Was pretty empty Sunday dinner, lots of seating available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Guessing this place is busiest during weekday lunches?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

got a bowl here for lunch and it was pretty good! the falafel could've been cooked a little more but loved how you can customize the veggies and toppings

Sajj always comes in clutch when I have somewhere to go after and need a quick healthy meal. I've been to some of the South Bay locations and like the chain generally. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This one is actually pretty big inside and I went on a weekend with a friend before heading to Chase Center - no one was there at Sajj.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Got the chicken schwarma bowl and the hummus and tzatziki really made it come together. Like the little soup on side too. Fast casual service, reliable option.

Having lived in the area, my partner and I used to frequent Sajj once every 2 weeks. We usually got our favorite Chicken Schwarma bowls, but have gotten the pomegranate chicken and falafel bowls as well, and it always hit the spot when we wanted a delicious and healthy meal. The workers are always friendly and it's a counter build your own bowl/wrap casual establishment. My usual rice bowl: Chicken Schwarma, a little cauliflower and eggplant, tomato cucumber salad, beets, pickles, garbanzo beans, hummus, tahini drizzle. Noteworthy: The green sauce on the side near the utensils is so good with chicken! And if you dine in store, they ask if you want complimentary lentil soup which is always comforting.

i've did it!! i love sajj just the same, will prob need a break though. i found that my dad sauce was the non spicy tahini

We have always been big fans of filling bowls and clean ingredients. We were huge chipotle and cava fan, but haven't really been going lately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sajj was so refreshing![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were so quick. The falafels were tasty and really well made. Really crispy on the outside, soft and well cooked on the inside. The toppings were all fresh and well portioned. The best part was the sauces. All flavorful, clean and optional. The lentil soup was also tasty and refreshing. Highly highly recommend!

Amazingly fresh and tasty food! Order at the counter, starting at the left and working your way to the right as you tell the person making your meal what you want and how you want it. As for me, I went with the chicken shawarma and falafel combo with rice, greens and loads of toppings-- beet, pickles, cauliflower, olives, tomato and cucumber, hummus, tzatziki etc topped with delicious sauce. It's a lot of food, and I enjoyed every bite. I loved the pickled vegetables, and I hope they keep that going. I ordered the fried and wasn't super excited about them; wish they were more fresh. You bring your food to the table on a tray and they deliver the fries. Seems they source a lot of products from local farmers which is great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is clean, the tables and seats nothing fancy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll be back for the food and if I'm not with a friend or my girlfriend I'll probably take the food to go and sit in the park.

I placed an order for a falafel bowl and was really looking forward to trying this place. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. My order was made quickly and the staff were really nice! The order came with a bowl and complimentary cup of soup. The soup was flavorful and warm. It reminded me more of broth than of soup. The bowl was big and a good sized portion. They are generous with the toppings which I appreciate. However, the food seriously lacked flavor. The rice was under seasoned. The falafel was under seasoned and not warm. My favorite part was the green sauce that I had to pay extra for, but even that wasn't anything special. I was disappointed and don't think I would come back.

I went here with a friend for lunch around 3pm on a Saturday and there was no wait! The restaurant was almost empty and a bit dark inside when we arrived. Anyways, I chose to build my own meal using the Steak Shawarma Rice Bowl, while my friend got the Chicken Wrap Bites. It was cool how both of our meals also came with a Lentil Soup. Since it was our first time trying this place, we also decided to get the Strawberry Lemonade and Mint Lemonade as our drinks and decided to get the Chocolate Hummus & Cinnamon Chips and Salted Caramel Cookie items since both of those items sounds unique. Ok now about the food, all of the entree items tasted good, but the dessert items felt too sweet for me. That salted caramel cookie was very sweet with hard chunks of caramel, but I'm glad I was able to wash it down with lemonade. It was also my first time trying chocolate hummus and I thought it's cool because it reminded me of a popular chocolate spread used on bread. I'd recommend this place! It can be a little confusing when you first visit here (I had trouble ordering). It also felt like they have a wide variety of items to choose from, since I had no idea they had wraps until my friend ordered it!

My friend and I got the fattoush salad to share along with the Chicken Shish Tawook plate and Musakhan for entrees. The salad was a nice fresh start and the charred dates added a nice sweetness. Loved the juicy chicken kebobs with a side of their delicious hummus. The musakhan had to be my favorite bite though, the chicken is so tender and flavorful and goes really well with the toasted pita. I would come back just for this dish alone! It's a counter-order restaurant which i didn't expect but it makes it a super quick sit-down restaurant to stop at and I loved sitting on their outdoor patio considering it was a nice sunny SF Sunday!

I ordered the chicken and beef kabob plate, and while the meat was flavorful, I wish they included more hummus. At around $25- $30 per plate, I expected a more generous portion. I ordered takeout and arrived about an hour later because the app never updated to show my order was ready. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and they didn't start preparing my food until I got there. I mentioned that I had placed the order an hour earlier and expected it to be ready, but the server seemed to brush off my concern, which was disappointing. One highlight was the hot sauce. I'm not sure if it's house-made or not, but it's so good. The pita, however, was a letdown. I prefer my pita soft, fluffy, and warm, but this one was hard and grainy. Overall, it's a cute restaurant with decent food, but it isn't my top choice.

There was complimentary bread which was insanely good and fluffy and warm plus tahini and an onion tomato sauce I think along with radishes and olives. We are not olive ppl sadly but I tried one and it was pretty okay. The service was great and all the servers were super attentive and accommodating. The Stuffed falafel was so good and huge 1 is enough for 2 people. The mosabaha was very refreshing and so good. The meat combo was good overall and everything was very herbally spiced, I wasn't impressed by the lamb tho but the kebab, hummus, and chicken were great! I haven't had Mousakhan before so not sure how it should taste but to me it was sweet and savory with really well cooked chicken. I honestly felt pretty healthy overall cause I was eating hella veggies and everything tasted so fresh. The kunafa was good we got it crispy and was yummy imo but was a lil oily (I think this is normal tho). Arab food isn't really spicy but it is spiced and very herbal which I felt in the food here, I appreciate that chili sauce is provided for the spice lovers. Overall, would highly recommend. It was about $100ish for everything and they recently increased their prices but tbh the portion sizes are huge and I feel like it is so worth it we had hella leftovers. If we had 4 ppl instead of 2 it would've been perfect portions for everyone.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't as good as the ambiance and waitstaff. ***OUR PICKS*** BEEF SHAWERMA ENTREE ~ the beef was overly salted, saffron rice was ok, hummus was really thick, like peanut butter. My guy ordered this and thought it was average. 3/5 LAMB SHISH KEBAB WRAP ~ this was my dish. I ate one half of the wrap and it only held two cubes of lamb meat. The lettuce and tomatoes made the wrap bland. The meat was seasoned, but everything was plain, so it needed more seasoning. Honestly, this was missing flavor! I'll have to add something to it when I eat the rest of this wrap at home. 2.5/5 HALF ROASTED CHICKEN AND RICE ~ Our friend ordered this dish. It needed more sumac. This tasted like plain roasted chicken. Maybe it needs more seasoning while marinating. It wasn't dry, so that's a relief. Rice was ok and it wasn't dry or soggy. 3.5 We've been spoiled and have had better food in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Nothing stood out for any of us. Prices are a bit high for what you get. I arrived around 5:45PM and they had a few spots open. They have a good amount of tables, and the interior decor makes the entire spot feel elevated. I placed my order around 6PM and received my food around 6:40PM. I ordered a falafel appetizer and paired it with a Mixed Grill Kebab and a Beyti. The falafel was really crunchy and flavorful, and overall tasted freshly made. The Beyti was a more riskier dish we ordered, as we aren't as familiar with Mediterranean cuisine. It's basically the meat from the Kofte Kebab wrapped in a bread, with seasoned yogurt as dipping sauce. Since we were familiar with the Kofte taste, this dish was a good twist on the flavor and I would definitely recommend it, especially as a shareable plate! The Mixed Grill Kebeb took the show, because how can a chicken breast be so juicy? We ordered this one to taste all this establishment had to offer, and the chicken was arguably better than the lamb. The chicken breast was super juicy and flavorful, but the lamb felt a little under-seasoned and could've used a little bit more salt. Not a big fan of the gamey taste of lamb, but the lamb chop here had very little - to a point where it tasted GOOD. The seasoning they use is magical, and the hints of cumin mask the taste exceptionally well. Did I mention big portions and good service? I love how this place diverges from the small SF portions and gives you a fulfilling meal with leftovers if needed. We are so accustomed to not taking home leftovers when I remember getting leftovers everytime pre covid! When we got there, it was extremely busy inside and outside, but despite the anticipated wait, we were seated within 5 minutes or so. As a heads up, the Cole Valley location is very small. There is seating inside and outside, but it is pretty loud inside (not that it detracted from our meal). We noticed there was a lot of take out orders coming through, so it seems like this place is equally popular for takeout, which makes sense given it's small size (they do not take reservations). We started off with the mezze sampler, which has lebna, muhammara, baba ganoush, hummus, pickles, and falafel. We all loved the sampler, although we noticed it didn't come with a lot of pita bread. Since most of our entrees were also coming with pita bread, it wasn't an issue. I particularly enjoyed the lebna, which was super creamy but had a nice tang that rounded out the flavor. The hummus and baba ganoush were also very good, and the muhammara was rich and had a great flavor. My mom got the falafel platter, my dad got the grilled hanger steak, my partner got the musakhan and I got the chicken shish tawook plate. My mom really enjoyed the falafel platter. It was super loaded with falafel, baba ganoush and hummus. The falafels were really good. They were nicely fried, but still had a soft and tender interior. My dad liked the hanger steak, which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The green zhug sauce was interesting, and the freekeh had a nice nutty and earthy flavor. Our favorites were the musakhan and the chicken shish tawook plate. The musakhan had a really interesting sweet/savory spiced flavor, and was complemented really nicely with the caramelized onions, sumac, pine nuts and toasted pita. The skin had a nice crispness but the chicken was super tender. The chicken shish tawook was definitely my favorite. The chicken had an incredible, charcoal-grilled taste and was super tender without being dry or overcooked at all. This was the best bite I've had all year, and I loved dipping the grilled chicken in the lebna, muhammara, baba ganoush and hummus that remained from our sampler plate. Highly, highly recommend this place. Super reasonable prices for generous portions of super flavorful food. Next time, we'd love to try the lamb shank and branzino.
