    Bug!

I love McAlisters, so I hate leaving this review. I ordered online and stopped in to pick up dinner that I was going to take to my wife and drop off. My food was on the To-go shelf and the bag was tied, everyone was friendly. I arrived at my wife's work and went to pull her food out of the bag when I noticed the bugs! The bugs were dead, but still. Neither of us could eat what we purchased. I threw the food in the trash and called the manager, Eric I believe his name was. He was very apologetic and refunded my money over the phone. He said the bugs likely came from the place that makes the bags. While this is probably true that still means bugs are possibly being brought into the building that could end up in food. I don't believe that we will be back here.

    Potato salad

I ordered from this location via Grubhub for the first time yesterday, 11-18-21. It was a late lunch. Had a busy day & needed a snack before a business call. Figured I'd order a little extra for dinner. I ordered the kids grilled cheese w/potato salad. I'd never had either. This was supposed to be my snack. I've never had a dry grilled cheese. Aside from the bread not being buttery, most of the cheese was dry, too. Hate to say it, but they can take some hints from QT... I also ordered the half sandwich of the McAlister's club w/pickle, a cup of broccoli cheddar soup, a slice of Godiva double chocolate cheesecake. The club was pretty good. I removed some of the bread so I could enjoy the cheesecake splurge. I didn't get the pickle I ordered. The soup was good. I appreciated them wrapping the cup in plastic to prevent spillage. I thought the slice of cheesecake was a bit slim for $5. It was rich. I'm not always in the mood for chocolate, but it definitely hit the spot. I hadn't had McAlister's in 2 years. Unfortunately, the next time I have it, it probably won't come from this location.

    1/2 quart potato salad

I went to McAlisters yesterday and ordered 2quarts of potato salad which is awesome, however their staff needs education on what a quarts is. If you fill a quarts size container 1/2 full for $14 you have either ripped me off $7 or shorted me 1/2 a quart. A quart of potato salad is a full quart size container to the lid. Better check before you leave. Manager contacted me and apologized and promised to make good on their error. The employees should be aware of how to fill the container all the way. I still suggest you check that its full in the future

Their iced tea is worth a visit. I also had the chicken tortilla soup with a pile of broken small tortilla chips. It was okay. My son had choose 2-turkey sandwich and angus beef spud. Once he got the Anjou sauce he was happy with his choice. It was actually too much food for my 19 year old college student. Cashier was polite and professional. Order was delivered to our table in a timely fashion.

McAlisters is a quick place to go for lunch and dinner. There is a variety of options on their menu and the nutrition is published. I love their honey mustard dressing! The salads are delicious and so are the sandwiches. I usually can't resist adding a chocolate chip cookie on for dessert as well. This location is clean and follows COVID protocols. There is a nice patio outside that is covered!

    Italian sandwich

The Italian Sandwich was perfect! --The bread was soft, like you were biting into a teddy bear --the meat was tasty but not packed on so much that it overpowered the other flavors. --the olives and peppers were melted into the cheese so they weren't rolling off the sandwich everywhere. --there was a light toastiness (I know that's not a word) that made the edges of the meat just a LITTLE crispy. --the spicy brown mustard complimented the entire flavor of the sandwich. Service was okay. The set up for ordering and picking up takeout is a little confusing.

Not toasted, the worst sandwich ever.

They discontinued the only sandwich I eat there, orange cranberry club, so I ordered the mcallister club, NOT toasted.....

Where are my croutons? And you decided to not give me a pickle either?

Had a pick up order, first of all you need to make a better sign saying pick up orders cause I clearly didn't see one. Only to go orders. Fast at getting the order out but my hot order was not hot it was cold and everything was thrown together. Just standing there in line I can tell how a mess this place was. I don't recommend this place to anyone, only worried to eat I don't want to get sick.

2nd salad that was given to me, after I stated the 1st one had a lot of brown lettuce ...

Customer service at this location, not so good! I ordered a salad and noticed that there was a lot of bad lettuce! I kindly went to the register to ask for another salad due to it being brown. Not a few pieces but a lot!! The cashier tried to act like she didn't see the brown lettuce and when another coworker came, she looked at it and clearly could see the lettuce was brown and went to get me another one. Exactly two minutes later, the cashier came back with another salad. The problem is that I never opened my salad and the one that was brought back to me was clearly an open bowl and even the way the toppings were on the salad , told the whole story!! They clearly threw away few bad pieces of lettuce away and gave it back. Even after that, they still had brown pieces in it!!! I looked at the cashier, shook my head and left! Horrible ...salad lover ...

The food is really good one problem got out late as a cord got unplugged and their tv cut off not there problem got 3 free cookies. The service is good as said before i got 3 free cookies and everyone was really nice.

    The McAlister's Club

I was in Charlotte for business and stopped in for a quick lunch before heading back to Raleigh. We walked around the plaza and decided to eat at McAlister's. It's located in a cute plaza with a variety of stores and many other places to eat. Parking is also plentiful and pretty easy to find. The restaurant is very spacious and clean and there's plenty of seating. There was no line and we ordered quickly. They give you a number to take back to your table and they deliver your food to you. We didn't wait long at all for our food. Thankfully, we beat the lunch crowd by about 10 minutes. I ordered the McAlister's Club with Mac and cheese and my husband ordered the New Yorker with potato salad. For dessert, we had a piece of carrot cake. The McAlister's Club was a solid 3. I wish they would've toasted the bread a bit more and added more mayo as it was pretty dry. I liked that they were generous with the turkey and Black Forest ham. The bacon was also good. It wasn't the best club I've ever had, but in a pinch I would probably order it again if I was craving a club. I'd just ask for the bread to be a bit more toasted. As for the macaroni and cheese - it was a fail for me. It was pretty bad. I could tell just by looking at it that I wasn't going to like it. It was really watery and didn't look very appetizing. It tasted just as it looked. Thankfully, I took it up to the front and they let me pick out some chips instead. I had some BBQ chips that were really crunchy and tasty. I really liked them. My husband enjoyed his New Yorker, which was pastrami and corned beef with Swiss and honey mustard on marbles rye. I had a few bites and thought it was pretty good. It comes with 10 ounces of pastrami and corned beef so it's definitely piled on high and you get a mouthful! I'd probably order this again. He had the potato salad as his side. They make a southern style potato salad with mustard and eggs. This isn't my preferred style of potato salad, but my husband said he really liked it. For his drink, he had the sweet tea, which he really liked. The carrot cake was a very large slice. It was a three layer carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I guess that's why they call it "colossal"! It's perfect to share! It was creamy and delicious. Overall, I'd give McAllister's a solid 3. It's better than fast food, but right below a high end deli. It's not high on my list of places I'd want to eat at, but it was fine in a pinch.

Choose 2 with Garden Fresh Turkey and Southwest Cobb
    Michele M.

My first time trying McAlister's Deli and I really liked what I had. I tried the Choose 2 with the Garden Fresh Turkey and the Southwest Cobb Salad. The sandwich had turkey, guacamole and spinach. It was tasty and I liked the bread it was served on. The salad had chicken, guacamole, corn relish, and tomatoes. I liked the thinly sliced chicken breast in the salad. It was tender, unlike a lot of chicken breast I've been getting in other restaurants lately.... The service was good and friendly. I also enjoyed my unsweetened tea. I do wish they had a bigger selection of chips or something other than Lay's potato chips. I'll still be back.

All that was left was lids for my dressing, bread, paying, and leaving. Another customer walked in BEHIND me and instead of finishing my order, the employee completely stopped helping me and took the new customer through the ENTIRE line while I stood there waiting. I then had to wait 5-8 minutes while the second customer slowly decided on ingredients and changed her mind multiple times. The person behind me got almost full uninterrupted service while I -- the first customer in line -- was left standing there waiting. What made it even worse was the manager's response. He defended the employee, told me she "did nothing wrong," and completely dismissed my frustration with a "have a nice evening." The issue wasn't just the wait. It was being skipped over and then treated like my frustration didn't matter. I've been there around 5 times in the last month, but after this experience, I will never return.

Inside however they also have a market featuring lots of local products, and a sit down cafe serving up salads and toasted sandwiches. I came in here on a quiet Sunday afternoon and we elected to sit outside in their walled in patio area. It was a pleasant place to sit and our service was prompt and friendly. For my sandwich I chose the turkey chipotle bacon without the tomatoes. The sandwich tasted great and the bread was toasted nicely. If I have one complaint it's that for $14.00 I think the sandwich could have been a bit bigger, or maybe I was just too hungry because I scarfed it down in an instant! Still the chips that accompanied it were a good snack and I enjoyed my meal. This is definitely a good spot to grab a lunch, I wish I had more time and I would have enjoyed the opportunity to browse their market. Matthews has a lot of great locally owned spots and this is for sure one of them.
