We were trying to figure out a way to send a custom order to some dear friends in this lovely part of Florida, and were having no luck finding an upscale pizzeria that would deliver. But we lucked out here ... and after about 20 minutes of figuring out timing and menu, were able to set up some thing for a future order. I am SO glad I discovered that mellow had amazing breakfast/brunch! My family is a huge fan of mellow pizza so we decided to try out brunch this Saturday morning and it is defiantly my new go to spot in Fleming! I got the French toast (supposably they use the French pantry bread and wow yum), bacon, hash browns and my 2 year old had eggs. The French toast was cooked to perfection, the fruit was super fresh, and the whip cream was light and delicious. The hash browns were probably some of the best hash browns I've ever had! Its family friendly and has been a focal point for many events and lots of great music due to its large patio area. This place is hit and miss for us. We have always liked it though. Today we ordered a half order of garlic pretzels as an appetizer, and we ordered a large house special pizza. The server was nice and the place was clean. For drinks my wife had a water and i had the wicked weed ipa. One problem with this place is it takes so long to get food out, but it is usually worth it. Another problem we have is they keep changing the menu, we know thats something that needs to be done but stop taking stuff off the menu we love. Well the pretzels came out and the had regular yellow mustard with them. Normally the come with maranara. We asked for the red sauce and they happily brought it to us. The pretzels were good though. Pizza came out before we were done with appetizer but thats ok. Pizza was sadly just ok. The bacon on it was only half done and the whole dish was just a mess, and really flavorless. My wife was looking at the appetizer and they brought us the salted pretzels instead of the parm pretzels. We never got offered a refill on drinks. We were not happy with any part of our visit, and we didnt let on. It will be a while before we come back, and probably wont recommend it either. read more

This is our go-to pizza place in Jacksonville, Florida. We love the huge outdoor covered patio that is dog friendly. They have fans on the ceiling of the covered patio to keep air circulating in the humid Florida weather. The pizza is OUTSTANDING! We have never had a bad pie there! The Fleming Island Mellow was the location that I was introduced to upon initially moving to Jacksonville back in 2004. It's been quite a long while since I've been back to this location partly due to not wanting to drive all the way down to Fleming Island on my own. Now that I have to head down here for class, it's the perfect excuse to head over to Mellow. I got out of class around quarter to 8 and headed here for dinner. I've been coming down to Fleming Island for class for about two weeks now, and it seems every night that I drive by Mellow is packed. When I walked in to ask for a table, they asked me where I wanted to sit because the patio area had a wait and the interior did not. I actually ended up with a huge booth all to myself. Upon entering, I was seated and I asked my waitress if there were any cider options besides Angry Orchard, which doesn't pair all that well with Italian for me. There were no other options so I decided for some red Chianti wine. This would have been fine if I hadn't found out after I started drinking it that it was Ladies Night and I could have gotten the House Wine for $2. I knew I wanted pizza of some kind, so red would pair well. Anyways, I know for next time. One thing that bothers me is that between the hours of 4:30 pm and 10:30 pm, Mellow does not sell slices of pizza, which is what I really wanted. I was debating between a small pie and a calzone when my waitress told me that they could make a calzone based off of any of the pizzas on the menu. As I knew I'd bring some home to have for lunch today, a Mighty Meaty calzone is what I ordered. I don't usually opt for calzones, but this was delish. One of the meats, besides the pepperoni, had a nice, unexpected kick to it. The dough wasn't overcooked, nor was it raw. I usually cannot eat dairy, but I sucked it up today. Next time, I may order it without the mozzarella. Things are on the pricier side at Mellow, so be prepared. I ended up paying $24 for my calzone and glass of wine, which is why I was irked about not being informed that it was Ladies Night. In any case, although Mellow is a franchise, it is definitely a better choice than Pizza Hut or the like. read more

Such a disappointment in this evening's dinner. We've been here before and really enjoyed our meal, but it just wasn't to be tonight. The taste was great, but for an appetizer, it would have been great for one person, but not for sharing. We ordered the Philosopher's Pizza- which sounded great, on the menu. Steak, Portabella mushrooms, kalamata olives, artichokes, feta, & mozzarella. Unfortunately, it had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. I thought maybe it was just me, but neither my daughter not husband thought it had flavor either. About the only thing you could say had any taste were the kalamata olives. Final Update: Spoke with the gentleman that identified himself as the owner. As I stated to him based on his responses that the behavior of his employee was not a reflection of how he operates or runs his business. However that is something that he cannot control. His employee brought race/ethnicity into the conversation I did not. So YES it is a race/bias issue as the employee felt the need to "explain his lack of bias based on where he grew up" The things the owner/manager can control, I hope he makes changes to. For example the seating policy or lack thereof which is why this entire situation occurred in the first place. Telling me you own/manage 9 stores but don't know and or have a seating policy is not an excuse. The best apology is changed behavior so in this case get a seating policy so manager discretion doesn't turn into employee bias/BS. They did send me a $30 gift card for my trouble which will make a nice gift for someone else. read more

I've eaten here several times. The pizza was good. Service was fine. Stopped for lunch with my son yesterday. We were seated with menus right away. We were not offered drinks. We waited over 15 minutes and nobody came to check on us or take our order. So we left. I did inform the girl at the door. She offered to get a server but by then it was too late. Oh man, am I happy to be back in a place with Mellow Mushroom. Went two years without one! I noticed their vegan cheese tasted differently and found that they now use Follow Your Heart, which is totally fine by me. It tastes amazing. I like how you can order a pizza and split it in half with different toppings. Their calzones are incredible, and the workers there are always friendly and helpful. Now I'm going to be eating here way too much. Also, most of the time, when you order with vegan cheese, the employees will say they will not brush the crust with the non-vegan topping without you even telling them to.
