A quaint little blast from the past with a great breakfast. Step into the classic diner atmosphere complete with mini countertop jukebox. The steel cut oatmeal along with a bottomless cup of coffee was a great start to the day. Can't forget the fresh squeezed orange either.

My wife and I went to this spot yesterday after reading the amazing reviews little did we know that we would be greatly disappointed. When we arrive we were dotted within 5 minutes. Our server took our order and even though he was in training he was doing a good job. The problem arrived with the food. My food was good. I got the Mel's burger it was big and juicy. My wife order their Portobello mushroom sandwich and chicken soup. The soup was very bland almost like it came out of the can. They brought her a mushroom sandwich and we informed the server that it was the wrong one. The server then brought the main server and he accused us of not reading the menu correctly. Both servers then took the sandwich back and said they will bring out the black bean sandwich. We were ok with that and I waited for my wives food. After 10 mins and no food we asked and both servers said that our food will be out shortly. Another 15 minutes go back and then we ask again and the sever mentioned that the order for the new burger was never put it. At this point my wive and I were upset and we just paid for what we had and left. I then approached the manager, just to let know to use this as a training opportunity but the manager was rude and said well everyone did their best I can't do anything. If the manager doesn't care then the staff can never be fully trained. I feel sorry cause Mel's is an amazing chain but this one will start to see a decrease in business because of their staff attitude

Had an impromptu birthday dinner with some friends here…read more The seating outside was great for six people, and the service was fabulous. Especially given that we were bringing in our own birthday cake to have and share among our friends that night. We got five different pizzas, and the four-cheese one was the fan favorite between us all. Definitely would recommend either a date night here or a night out with friends if you're in the area.

Service was generally polite but a bit sparse given how busy it was. I specifically asked whether the kids' pizzas were small personal sizes or large enough to share, and was told they were personal-sized. Unfortunately, we ended up with more food than we could realistically finish and essentially paid for a pizza that went to waste, which was frustrating. The food itself didn't quite meet expectations based on the reviews. One of our pizzas also came out slightly undercooked, but the kids were too tired for us to send it back and wait for a remake, so we just made do. Overall, the experience was just okay, especially compared to other pizza spots we tried during our trip. After visiting places like Tony's, which we loved, this one fell short for us. The restaurant was busy and had a decent energy, and others may have a better experience depending on timing. For us, though, it's not a place we'd return to.

The entire pizza had shifted in the box, slices were folded over, grease was splattered all over the lid, and it was no longer hot by the time it arrived. What made this even more frustrating was the amount paid for delivery. In addition to the food cost, I paid a $3.99 delivery fee, a $5.70 service fee, and tipped the driver $5.50. For that kind of added cost, I think it's reasonable to expect the pizza to arrive level, intact, and hot. The restaurant is about 4 miles from my house, and it appeared the delivery was made by bicycle, which may explain why the pizza ended up tilted and damaged during transport. I can't say that for certain, but something clearly went wrong between the restaurant and my door. The pizza itself may have been good fresh out of the oven, but the delivery experience completely ruined it.

I am aware that I didn't pay for table service or dine in fees that most SF restaurants have now so I was trying to be out of sight and not make any mess for the staff to clean up. Some restaurants don't even let you sit outside to eat if you do pick up so I was just hoping they didn't come out and ask me to leave. Not only did nobody ask me to leave but 10 minutes into my sitting someone came over to offer me a glass of water. I declined because I do feel wrong accepting service when I didn't originally order that way or tip properly but I am very appreciative that they went out of the way to offer water! The grain bowl was also very delicious and filling! very generous portions for the price. It was my first time going even though I've been working in the area for a couple years and I'm happy to have a new go to lunch spot!

When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, so they never checked our reservation and nothing came of it. Nbd though! The pizzas are on the thin side, but surprisingly filling. Parking can be a little challenging in the area, but we found a spot in a residential neighborhood about two blocks away. It's a nice area to walk through anyway. They also had World Cup flags hanging across the ceiling, and the matches were playing on the TVs, which made for a fun atmosphere. 2 other parties ended up dining in. People were going in and out every now and then for to go orders.
