I am so glad I ordered from Memaw's! The food was still hot and crispy when it arrived which was a huge plus. My order was a catfish nugget combo with a side of dirty rice and red beans and rice (you can choose from a list of sides). The catfish was well battered and the catfish to batter ratio was pretty good too. You get way more nuggets than i anticipated and the meal is easily a two-day endeavor. The batter is so good I was eating the crumbs from the box. Very fresh and flavorful as well as the fish. Delicious! The sides made me roll my eyes (the good way) because WOW. The dirty rice was very well seasoned and dressed and the red beans and rice packed so much flavor. I loved both. THAT is good rice. "Memaws Gumbo!"... I just think it's fun as say :) ...... I've visited Memaws's several times to pick up my to go orders. Although the visitors were brief, the customer service for the short time I was there was really good. Speaking of good that's exactly what I would say about all of the food that I've ordered. Whether it's the catfish po' boy and fries or the gumbo with a side of hush puppies. I look forward to trying their salmon as well as their shrimp and grits, which look amazing. Although I've been rather busy as of late because let's face it life sometimes just be life'n. I feel I really need to make the time to stop by and have a proper dine in experience with quite possibly a rather large group of my good peoples. THE BEST GUMBO IN LAS VEGAS! I lived in southeast Texas for a couple years and I was taught how to make gumbo and I ate a lot of it. This is Louisiana gumbo! It has the smokiness, the sausage, chicken and I added grilled shrimp. Yum! I wanted to try as much as I could. I ordered the hush puppies, earls chicken wings, sweet potato cornbread, and dirty rice. Also had the banana pudding, delicious and homemade! Everything was amazing. The dirty rice and gumbo were my favorite! So much flavor! The young women helping was amazing! They have a kiosk to order but she took my order. Beautiful pictures on the wall too. Times are incorrect on Yelp and Apple Maps; unfortunately the second time I came (first time I came is when I noticed the time is listed wrong, so came back during the time listed on the door) - unfortunately they were having issues with their system and only taking cash at the time, which I did not have any on me. I have no words, a friend and I wanted soul food. So we drive there, almost couldn't find the place because the signage is only in the window not on the bldg. Nor is it on the strip mall marquee! Then you walk in and it's an empty room with tables and a kiosk. A young lady came out and told us we would have to order from the kiosk and they only had 4 entrees and a few sides! Excellent food that reminded me of when I lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast! The location was a little confusing...you enter one door from outside....to the left is Memaw's and to the right is a bar that serves pizza and burgers. Really enjoyed everything we ate...highly recommend the mac n cheese, hush puppies, Fried Chicken and Gravy, Shrimp Po-Boy and Jambalaya. The sandwich was fairly large with a generous amount of perfectly fried shrimp and a tasty remoulade. The crisp fried chicken was accompanied with a delicious mouth-watering gravy that was to die for. Loved the complex flavors in the jambalaya that also packed a good amount of heat. Finished off the meal with a wonderful Chocolate Peanut Butter Hurricane frozen dessert that had a delicious brownie crust at the bottom, creamy ice cream, crushed cake and peanut butter cup pieces topped with a wonderful homemade whipped cream. First time trying this place. We ordered to-go and everything was great. The Jambalaya was our favorite and we will definitely be back if we are ever craving it. The hush puppies aren't dense at all and also delicious. I love when hush puppies are fluffy rather than dense. The fries were also great. Our least favorite was the catfish nuggets but even they weren't bad (just outshined by the other great food). Our friend got the chicken pasta and also said it was great! We will be back. Only annoying thing is that they charge $2.50 for a couple packets of Frank's red hot sauce and tartar sauce. I truly enjoyed eating here after work on Saturday. The Greeting from Diamond was very pleasant and she explained how to order from their kiosk and also made suggestions. Finally got a chance to try this place. We walked in and were greeted by the nicest lady. She explained how to order at the touch screen kiosk and answered any questions we had. She was so helpful and just a sweet disposition. Very welcoming. We decided on to go even tho they have a small establishment for dine in. It's clean, but not really inviting. They definitely do a lot of take out. On to the food. We ordered the catfish platter with grits and mac and cheese. The catfish was good, a little salty for me but still flavorful. Their tartar sauce was delicious but you will pay extra for any sauces. The grits were bland and needed a little pick me up at home. The mac and cheese was good. We also ordered a shrimp platter with rice and mac and cheese. The shrimp was delicious and the rice was bland also. Hush puppies are a must. I loved them. And we topped it off with a banana pudding. Stopped by because my friend on instagram posted a video of her eating some catfish and I've never tried it so I decided to try it. We got some catfish nuggets which were delicious, the dirty rice was really tasty and the hush puppies were yummy. I loved the watermelon lemonade! Where has this place been all our lives?! After reading all the amazing reviews, and realizing this was so close to home we had to try it. Unfortunately, it is in a strip mall and hidden away, so if you are next to Chris's place it is the door Attached to that. The location is convenient and the inside was very cute. Granted, we were the only persons eating there. There were a ton of takeout orders coming and going. It allowed us to get to know the owners better, and the daughter was named diamond and has a twin sister named Jewel . Her parents have been partners in this truly southern creole experience. We literally ordered everything from the chicken wings which were outstanding! To the gumbo, which was absolutely delicious to the shrimp and grits, which knocked it out of the park. For a long time I've been missing the food of the New Orleans. Having not been able to get back since before the pandemic, I dream of it. And this little place with the unassuming entry has a new customer for life. The place is super welcoming. But that isn't what we are here for right? We ordered shrimp and grits, jambalaya, hush puppies, and fried cabbage. We also tried the warm brownie which is magically not too rich. It super chocolates. The shrimp and grits was cheesy, saucy, and flavorful. The jambalaya was also flavorful, perfectly portioned, and nice proportions. Next, the portion sizes were great...enough for hubby and I to share. And finally, everything we ordered was fresh, hot, seasoned well, and tasted delicious! It's a gumbo spot so I was counting on the gumbo to be on point (and it was...literally a party in my mouth) but the chicken was a great surprise...the wings were fried crispy but still juicy, and a decent size. I ordered delivery today and was disappointed with what I received. I ordered the gumbo and 8 piece NOLA style party wings. IMO NOLA did not come to mind when eating what I received. The gumbo came in a medium size container consisting of 80% white rice and 20% "gumbo". The gumbo had a red based probably tomatoe paste rue resembling more of a canned thick soup type color and consistency. The Doordash, social media, and their website images shows big pieces of shrimp and sausage in the gumbo. I received 0 shrimp and about 3 sliced sausage pieces in each container. The gumbo flavor was ok but but was mostly all small bits of chicken pieces. I ordered two of the gumbo so imagine my disappointment. I like the traditional dark flour rue version of gumbo with plenty of sausage, shrimp, and crabs, and bits of chicken. This gumbo was far from that. But then again, maybe my expectations were too high considering it was only $10.99. The NOLA style party wings were a disappointment. I was a frequent customer to Louisiana Fried Chicken joints in Los Angeles. The chicken is more black pepper based with a really tasty thin breading. Memaw's didn't even remind me of Popyeye's chicken. Probably was more of a Golden Coral style fried chicken. Very basic, not really memorable classic buffet type wings. If you're seeking NOLA type gumbo you won't find it at Memaw's. Try Cajun Mouth here in Vegas. So far, that is a decent version of Louisiana style gumbo in Vegas I have eaten so far. Plus, they give you a small portion of crab pieces. Now if you're willing to travel, hands down the best gumbo I have tasted west of New Orleans is actually in Los Angeles, California at Stevies Creole Cafe. read more

good here is great! flavors are on point and absolutely loved the garlic cheese bread since it actually had a nice pungent garlic flavor. i will say i do wish it was a tad more crispy since i like a nice crunch to my garlic bread, but still taste great. overall food quality here is amazing and would recommend off a nice bite to eat. service is great, the women who took my order was insanely nice and patient. food came fast and hot as well. the inside was pretty chill most people seem to order online and pick it up so there wasn't many people sitting inside but it's still nice in there. great experience and would visit again! read more

The hot sauce wasn't securely closed and it spilled all over the food by the time the driver got it to me. A little Saran Wrap or tape goes a long way. We asked for Mac-cheese but it seem like that was Creole pasta which was cold and it seem like it was made a day a go and the just heated it us in the microwave. The dirty rice just nasty and cold. Hubby is from Southern Louisiana and was craving a taste of home since we usually visit for Easter but couldn't this year. After a quick search for any new Cajun spots near us, Memaw's popped up as super close by home. We opted for pickup and ordered Po'Boys (Shrimp and Catfish), seasoned fries with a side of Hush Puppies, and a couple extra cups of Remoulade because we like things extra saucy. Po'Boys - Upon first inspection we both were very impressed with the portion size. Worth the price for sure. Both sandwiches were overflowing with their respective protein, which is always the first sign of a great po'boy. I actually took a piece of my catfish out to enjoy on its own, and still had plenty in every bite of my sandwich. Both the shrimp and catfish were fried perfectly, and I really appreciate a good corn meal batter And after our first bites both of us agreed that this was the best po'boy we've had in a long time. Bread was right, sauces were right, veggies were right. Seasoned Fries - Generous portion alongside the Po'Boy. If I were to guess, it seemed like they used a spice mix with smoked paprika? Very sweet and smoky, they reminded us of BBQ chips. Hush Puppies - Crispy outside, fluffy inside, seasoned perfectly. The way a HP should be, so tasty! Remoulade sauce - Only thing we weren't crazy about. But it's hard because Remoulade is one of those things that everyone has their own version of it so it's always to the maker's taste. This one was just a bit too Mayonnaise-y for us. It was good on the po'boy, but it wasn't our fave for dipping. We'll save the $2 next time. Overall a good experience. Staff was friendly and talkative. Food was packed with care and was obviously fresh upon my arrival. The eat in area isn't huge, but everything is casual, new, and clean. I saw the Keith Lee Tiktok review of this restaurant and added it to my growing list of places to try. I showed up close to 9 pm and was welcomed warmly. The restaurant only had a few customers in it grabbing a pick up. I seated myself at a table while the owner took care of them. I ordered the Hush Puppies and the Jambalaya. The hush puppies were hot and flavorful. The Jambalaya was a large portion size and had plenty of meat in it. The spice level was perfect for my taste but for those who enjoy something spicier may think it needs more. After my meal, I tried the chocolate peanut butter Hurricane. Wow!! It was incredible. What made this visit special was the owner sat down with me and we had an enjoyable conversation. She was a complete sweetheart and I will definitely return on my next visit. An absolute gem for creole food! Everything there is excellent and ordering from the tablet couldn't be easier. I would personally recommend the shrimp & grits as well as the Mac and cheese. It's just a short distance from the Las Vegas Airport and not on the strip so you don't have to worry about downtown traffic. Well, things have changed. I don't like doing negative reviews so I'll just do my observations from the last couple visits. I saw how the young lady can be kind of off putting. Not a good look when someone who's hungry and ready to spend money gets that kind of service. The hours are questionable, they don't serve the Creole Alfredo pasta anymore, and your call in won't be answered, BUT the fried cobbed corn is still very good. I want to support the business and I hope things get better. But I'll watch current reviews to see if it's worth giving another try. read more

So my wife and I went there today to check it out and I must say, this place is top notch! The owner is real cool, we had good conversations about life in general, a very real and down to earth brother. The food, was simply delicious, I was looking for a combo platter and even though what I was looking for was not on the menu, the owner was cool and let me create my own; nothing major, I got the catfish combo, which comes with two pieces of catfish, he allowed me to substitute one catfish piece for shrimp, again very good, my side dishes was red beans and rice (so dam favorable) and grits washed down with watermelon lemonade (perfection).
