Pretty sure they win cutest name ever for a Kosher Sushi spot~! I have driven by a million times and chuckled at the name (meshuga means crazy), so glad I finally got to try them out. Though I'm not kosher, I am allergic to shellfish so for me the fact that they have their own version of 'shrimp' is so welcome. Not only are they shellfish & meat free, but also dairy and nut free so they can appeal to a ton of special tastes. One thing I have had the hardest thing finding since moving to LA has been sweet potato rolls. I was obsessed back in the Chi and I hardly ever see it on menus here. Enter: Meshuga 4 Sushi where they have MULTIPLE sweet potato rolls. YAY! I enjoyed the couple I've tried including the Extreme topped with sauces. The Crispy Corn Roll, Sweet Hart Roll and Crunchy Munchy (baked salmon) were all fire. Not only were all the makis tasty here but I found the prices quite reasonable which was a welcome reprieve in this city. I'm a fan and can't wait to try more on their menu - including their other sweet potato rolls~!

6/10 to me tuna avocado Roll

Decided to give this place a try and got a tuna with avo with cucumber. For me sushi rolls are all about balance but this roll had a sliver of avocado and barely any vegetable mostly mediocre quality tuna.

A Baked Dynamite Roll is mouthwatering!

Delicious sushi, soup, salad, finger food and even dessert!

After having a great time at their Pico-Robertson location, I decided to try out their place on La Brea(about midway between Beverly and Melrose). The place is very clean and well lit with an excellent Staff. On the recommendation of the Manager, I had the Japanese Pizza(crispy rice, spicy tuna, avocado, nacho jalapeno) Meshuga Roll(spicy tuna, fresh jalapeno and ponzu sauce) and Yellowtail Special Roll(spicy yellowtail, avocado, cucumber, cilantro and ponzu sauce). I was extremely pleased with the selections and devoured all 3. Frankly, it was the best Kosher sushi I've ever had including in Israel. It was all superfresh, beautifully presented and super tasty. For dessert, I had their Oreo Insanity(vanilla ice cream surrounded by fried oreos drizzled with chocolate). I found this very creative as well as another very delicious offering. Service was fast and friendly and the A/C was great on a hot day. Conclusion: Hands down best Kosher sushi restaurant I have ever been. Well done Meshuga Sushi.

Red Dragon Roll. $10.95 plut tax

I ordered the "Japanese Pizza." Don't let the word "pizza" fool you, because it doesn't resemble a pizza in ANY way at all. See pic. With tax it was $9.76. It's basically a roll...deep fried rice with some toppings. It was pretty good, but not worth the price and not very filling at all. Very disappointing. Not at all what I was expecting. My friend had the Red Dragon roll. $10.95 plus tax. It looked really good, and was much bigger than my "pizza." Don't expect a warm welcome when you go there. They aren't rude, but they don't act like they're glad you're there either. They do have a Yelp deal though. You get a free can of soda when you check in on Yelp there. Free is always good! There's only street parking by the way, so if you go when there's no parking on La Brea during rush hour, you'll have to park in the neighborhood and walk a bit. A very very soft 3 stars. 2 stars wouldn't be quite fair, but I'm not a fan. It wasn't bad, but you can easily do better than this at just about any sushi place.

We had the Peruvian scallop crudo and chicken Bao buns from this menu. They were divine. From the main menu, we had the frena, sweet corn tortellini and hangar steak kebabs. The bread was perfectly spiced, the tortellini was sublime and kebabs were such an elevated take on steak with chimichurri. One super minor thing: I think they could have been even better if it was medium rare, but it was still amazing! Can't wait to go back!

Food: 3.5 stars Ambiance: 3.5 stars…read more Service: 1.5 stars I have now been to this place twice. I was excited to share the experience with my friends, as I recalled it being good when it first opened; so it was definitely repeatable. However this second trip was -- insulting. It looked like a place run by kids in their 20s, with no customer service experience, and unregulated emotions. So let's start with the main star-- the food! With a number of options, it was hard to narrow down what we wanted. But finally, we made our choices between the small plates, shareables, and mains. To our disappointment, they were out of the branzino- fine. We understand. We replanned what we wanted (you have to put your whole order in at one time). Then we decided to get a number of additional small plates-- and wanted wings. Guess what? Womp womp-- after our server informed us the Branzino was out, she moved on to attend other tables. During that time, they ran out of the wings. No problem! We decided to just get the chicken. The Blue Fin Carpaccio The Octopus The Grandmas Cigars The Crispy Tuna 2 orders of the Chicken Jidori 4 glasses of wine for the table This is everything we went with. The wine was excellent. The Blue Fin Carpaccio with Challah - Good, but the Challah was not grilled, instead burnt The Octopus - some of the best I've had, exceptional The Grandma Cigars- underwhelming The Crispy Tuna - salty & nothing outstanding The Chicken Jidori - very good Now here's the problem. When we asked the server to if we could get another challah, she was annoyed. She then brought out another piece, this time much smaller, less fluffy, and entirely dry, and said-- "it wasn't burnt, they grill it". Then I started to explain, well the last one, the taste was burnt and the edges-- but before I could finish, she said, "I'm gonna walk away now". To our shock, she left mid-sentence. This could've been a kitchen issue and not her issue-- but with the way she handled the service, it was absolutely insulting. I asked for the manager, who simply changed our server. Made no additional amends (but she did fix our wobbly table). There was no concession, or enjoy xyz on the house, or remorse. I suspect if she was a friend of the servers that was a host, and not the manager. As she didn't handle the situation like an established and competent manager. In the end, it may have been an off night for the kitchen and the staff-- perhaps the manager went to enjoy the World Cup watch parties and left the restaurant in hands that just couldn't match the demands of the evening. It was a Sunday night, and the vibe was on, with a filled restaurant. I enjoy the space, but I can't say I'd be delighted to experience what I had, not from a food or wine standpoint, but pure service. After $400- I expect better service. I get treated better at Sweetgreens, and that only costs me $25.

We paid $68 for two salads and an order of fries, which felt overpriced for the quality and portions. What really stood out, however, was the customer service. I visited with my mother and my toddler son. Since my son wasn't going to eat fried food, I bought him a fruit smoothie from a neighboring business. While we were already in line paying for our order, the owner or manager approached us and informed us that outside food and drinks were not allowed because the restaurant is kosher. Although he said he would make an exception this one time, he approached us again while we were waiting outside for our food. We had chosen to sit outside because the restaurant was crowded, loud, and stuffy inside. Despite us not causing any issues, he again insisted that the smoothie could not be on the premises and began explaining that his license could be suspended due to association rules. We politely told him it wasn't a problem and decided to take our food to go. I understand businesses have policies, but the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily confrontational, especially considering the drink was for a toddler and we had already spent nearly $70 at the restaurant. Between the mediocre food, high prices, and rude customer service, I would not return. There are plenty of better dining options in the area.
