Pretty sure they win cutest name ever for a Kosher Sushi spot~! I have driven by a million times and chuckled at the name (meshuga means crazy), so glad I finally got to try them out. Though I'm not kosher, I am allergic to shellfish so for me the fact that they have their own version of 'shrimp' is so welcome. Not only are they shellfish & meat free, but also dairy and nut free so they can appeal to a ton of special tastes. One thing I have had the hardest thing finding since moving to LA has been sweet potato rolls. I was obsessed back in the Chi and I hardly ever see it on menus here. Enter: Meshuga 4 Sushi where they have MULTIPLE sweet potato rolls. YAY! I enjoyed the couple I've tried including the Extreme topped with sauces. The Crispy Corn Roll, Sweet Hart Roll and Crunchy Munchy (baked salmon) were all fire. Not only were all the makis tasty here but I found the prices quite reasonable which was a welcome reprieve in this city. I'm a fan and can't wait to try more on their menu - including their other sweet potato rolls~!

Decided to give this place a try and got a tuna with avo with cucumber. For me sushi rolls are all about balance but this roll had a sliver of avocado and barely any vegetable mostly mediocre quality tuna.

A Baked Dynamite Roll is mouthwatering!

Delicious sushi, soup, salad, finger food and even dessert!

After having a great time at their Pico-Robertson location, I decided to try out their place on La Brea(about midway between Beverly and Melrose). The place is very clean and well lit with an excellent Staff. On the recommendation of the Manager, I had the Japanese Pizza(crispy rice, spicy tuna, avocado, nacho jalapeno) Meshuga Roll(spicy tuna, fresh jalapeno and ponzu sauce) and Yellowtail Special Roll(spicy yellowtail, avocado, cucumber, cilantro and ponzu sauce). I was extremely pleased with the selections and devoured all 3. Frankly, it was the best Kosher sushi I've ever had including in Israel. It was all superfresh, beautifully presented and super tasty. For dessert, I had their Oreo Insanity(vanilla ice cream surrounded by fried oreos drizzled with chocolate). I found this very creative as well as another very delicious offering. Service was fast and friendly and the A/C was great on a hot day. Conclusion: Hands down best Kosher sushi restaurant I have ever been. Well done Meshuga Sushi.

The classics like Niki Udon, Kitsune Udon, and Curry Udon are incredible staples that stand the test of time and simply hold their own. But if there's any restaurant to enjoy the classics and dip into a little fusion cuisine, THIS is a place you should add to your bucket list. Their creamy mushroom udon is phenomenal. Mushrooms are delicately seasoned and cooked correctly, the texture of the noodles have a perfect bounce/chew to them, and that cream sauce? Addicting. This place has this distinct homey comfort type of vibe to it. The restaurant's decorations aren't too over the top. Most importantly, it's such a clean establishment. My sea urchin udon has an adequate amount of sea urchin. The duck udon has a few slices of duck unlike dishes like Bun Mang Vit or Mi Vit Tiem where there is a whole thigh and other meat portions. At least the meat here is deboned so non-Asians can eat Service is fast and food comes out immediately. I was in and out within 40 minute. The halibut sashimi was fresh and delicate with a great balance from the mango salsa and ponzu. My personal favorite of the night was the miso glazed sea bass from the kushiyaki course. Salty but lacks a depth of flavor. - The truffle sushi roll had a prominent truffle flavor (which I enjoyed, but may not be for everyone). Crunch spider roll was a favorite; just a solid classic with soft shell crab (love that an extra piece of crab is included on top of the roll). The fried onions on top of the Tokyo roll were crispy and sweet. Uni was fresh and delicious! I had uni only one time before and had a bad experience (it was incredibly fishy, and now I realize, not fresh). So I was apprehensive at first but I'm glad I gave it a chance because this uni was buttery, smooth, and briny in all the right ways. - Matcha tea was okay, medium profile matcha flavor. Not bad for the value though. Clean and refreshing. -Might be a small thing to point out, but I like how they include lemon slices automatically in the water. Snagging a reservation took some time but was worth the effort. Our meal was an incredible experience--the service, the way each course was presented in such beautiful dishware--the meal was a well-planned journey and one of the best dining experiences we've had. We dined here again in January and it's taken me some time to process this experience and put it in words. The dining room interior has been remodeled since our last visit. The atmosphere helps you focus on being present, being in the moment, being still when each course comes. With excited anticipation you take the lid off of the soup bowl or the staff unveils a dish, so your focus is seeing, smelling, feeling, tasting and enjoying the first bite and all the flavors in the dish before you. What a fun experience! Chef Niki is so creative, thoughtful, deliberate in how she plans her guests' meals. We enjoyed meeting her at the end of our meal and having the opportunity to thank her for the care and attention she gives to all. We look forward to coming here again when we're able to get to L.A.

Most of the time in multi-course meals, there's one or two dishes that make me scratch my head and wonder if my palate is just basic and unrefined if I don't enjoy it, but I didn't feel that in any way here. We ended up ordering the toro garlic toast, veggie tempura, ginza roll, and several pieces of nigiri sushi. The toro garlic toast was pretty good - sort of like a spicy tuna crispy rice situation ... but a little fattier and more garlicky than crispy. The ginza roll was pretty good too - a lot of fish in the roll and wasn't overwhelming with too much sauce. The tempura was good too- not super oily and all your typical veg involved. The nigiri sushi were pretty well prepared. The size was pretty good for the price - and each were accompanied by a small garnish on top or a little bit of sauce brushed on. All in all - I wouldn't say it's a date night place, but is a good easy eats sushi spot for rolls and nigiri for the price. Would recommend!
