I had a chai latte and and a regular iced latte from this cute little shack. While I love the look of this place (local, eclectic, friendly)- the drinks just didn't work for me. Both drinks were way too loaded with sugar. I actually couldn't even finish my latte because it was too sweet. It's pricey - perhaps that is the area (mission hills). The staff was friendly, they have complimentary dog treats, and if you love sugary coffee- then they have a nice long menu for you to choose from. This place is so unique and funny! The aesthetic of the shop reminds me of Slab City with all the random items scattered all over the the ceiling and walls. Even though it's small and nestled right at the corner of the street, you cannot miss it! Parking is a little tight though. Such a quaint quiet coffee shop!! I love the outdoor seating under the umbrellas and trees. The collection of crafts is fun to look at while you wait for your order. Rosario, the owner of this quaint, relaxed and friendly espresso stand worked in restaurants around town for many years. In addition to his skills as a server and sommelier. We first encountered him at Antica Trattoria where he was well known and appreciated for his talent as a polished singer of opera. Rumor has it that this us what propelled him to come to the US: his love of Opera and dream of establishing a professional footing; Well, a loss for opera, but a win for diners and espresso affictionados. While dining at Antica Trattoria, Rosario was roundly applauded whenever he graced the dining room. The patrons were always in anticipation , but never knew precisely when Rosario would break out in Italian song; His presence is still spoken of and missed at Antica; He told me he is going to be opening a Pappalecco's in the near future. This is a great small coffee shack with some very nice seating around it under the shade with a great view of the neighborhood for people watching, relaxing, chatting it up, and most importantly, enjoying one of their wonderful drinks they have to offer. It's a little quirky with its decor and menu, but truly a great neighborhood coffee shop. I mean, they had a Jesus mer-man and a tattooed up baby doll as decorations which definitely put a smile on my face. They have a pretty unique coffee menu. I tried the latte with mocha and Sriacha. The Sriacha wasn't too overpowering flavor-wise, but there was a definite spicy kick to it. It was different from what I normally gravitate towards, but it was a nice surprise. The baristas were really friendly and helpful. While waiting on my coffee, I took advantage of the hula hoops they have hanging by the lamp post. I got it with oat milk and was surprised to hear that it was only $5.50. It has a delicious cinnamon chocolate flavor and is really light and frothy. However, there was a strange burning sensation in my throat at the end of each sip. Not sure if this is common with chagaccinos in general or if it was specific to this place. Regardless, it was super delicious and would get it again even with the burning feeling. They offer a bunch of super unique drinks. Some even have sriracha or coca cola in them! Would definitely go back to try out their other drinks. The shack itself is so cool! It's at the corner of a small intersection and looks like Slab City/East Jesus with dolls hanging inside the place and lots of signs with Jesus on it hung around the place. There is some seating around the place with a good amount of chairs, although they are rather close to one another. The Meshugga Mensch is a sinfully decadent coffee treat, but that was clear from the description. It comes out kinda too sweet but you just have to swirl the ice to dilute and it balances out perfectly. Exactly what I wanted for a hot sunday afternoon. 4.5/5 The straight up black espresso however was not drinkable, extreme acrid/bitterness. 1/5 It was served in a 12oz coffee cup so that's always an espresso red flag that no one here drinks it outside of the sweet milk drinks or americano. So it did not come as a big surprise. Luckily I did have a sweet milk drink too so instead of asking for a replacement I just dumped it in there and it was all good. Will be back, just not for straight espresso. read more

Lots of specialty coffee drinks in this Caribbean colored little box of caffeine joy! My favorite is the Serpent's kiss, which contains espresso, chocolate and chili (so drink at your own risk!). People working here are super friendly and take their time to make the drinks for you, no hurries. I like to stop by every time I go to Mission Hills. The sweet lady inside the shack greeted us and I didn't know what to do but I was elated! Looking at all the different renditions of Jesus, Virgin Mary (or Our Lady of Guadalupe/ Fatima) surrounding the place I didn't know whether to repent my sins after sipping a Serpent's kiss or if I was in a Dirty Gurl kind of mood due to admiring seductive memorabilia. Then I notice a tattood baby doll hanging on a chain with a disco ball attached to its chest. Another disco ball and more Jesus. More Mary. Let me pray on this. Small shack for coffee, snacks and cold drinks. Welcoming and always fun as another choice from my hood besides Starbucks and Heartwork. They currently have a big banner welcoming everyone even possibly idiots who voted for Trump, ok thats from me. But their coffee choices range from interesting concoctions as well as their customer's favorites. Haven't tried their baked goods but it's always a nice shack to stop by. I don't drink coffee much, but I am a fan but a good iced chai. Chai's can be hit or miss, but this place is spot on! The Crackhead Chai absolutely lives up to the name! I'll be back! This is such a cool little coffee shack! After a disappointing breakfast experience across the street, we passed by the shack and I was curious about it. Just reading the menu made me laugh. Yes I am immature and laughed when I read "crackhead". The girl in front of me ordered the crackhead chai latte and I couldn't help but laugh. I tried very hard to keep a straight face because I wanted the same drink! Chatted a bit to the barista and he was very nice and he made an amazing drink! One of the best iced chai lattes i've ever had. It had a good balance between the chai tea and the latte taste. I don't like when one overpowers the other. I always get an Americano with vanilla powder. It is the perfect balance of coffee taste and sweetness.
