Was looking for a place for happy hour and decided to check this place out. If you want to park in their lot, you'll have to pay for valet which I think was $10. We were able to find street parking around the corner for free without any issue. Their $6 happy hour beer was a good deal and there were a handful of food/appetizer options on the happy hour menu. The food came very quickly! Fried okra and dipping sauce had a surprisingly spicy kick to it but tasted yummy. The Brussels sprouts was more like a salad with onions, herbs, etc inside. It was actually really refreshing! The disappointing dish was the Santa Maria fries which is filled with queso, black beans, tri tip, avo salsa, and cream. It was so liquidy that the fries were completely soggy and almost felt like we were eating soup with a fork.

There is valet parking(which I HATE)! We had a large party and were seated right away. I had the Bob Cob salad without to tomatoes. I was a bit hesitant being that it had vinaigrette dressing instead of blue cheese. But it was DEE-LISH! MANY of my friends othered the loaded fries(not sure what they're called). I tasted them and they were good. Thank goodness we had a table inside because there was a large very loud party outside. Thanks Messhall.

Came here on a Thursday around 4:30pm. Valet parking easy. We were seated quickly. Cool vibe, we were there during happy hour! Loved the menu! Ordered shrimp cocktail - the cocktail sauce was out of this world delish! Backyard burger was tasty and saucy - just the way I like it. Fried okra was scrumptious!! But the star of the show was the 30 minute biscuits! The biscuits came out fresh from the oven! That butter tho! Like what!? I can't explain it - go try it. Top with their homemade butter and jam. Duuuuuuuuude. I will crave that! They get 5 stars for their biscuits alone! Go now. Cool spot. Good for groups. Outside patio on warm summer nights. Perfect. Our server Luis was exceptional!!!

Cute place for brunch. I find parking in this neighborhood to be impossible so thankfully they have valet (and Venmo!). My friends, who are much more patient, were able to find street parking. We had a reservation for as soon as they opened on a Sunday morning so we could choose our seat. There are lots of options... completely indoor, enclosed patio, fire pit! Menu offers many intriguing choices. I think I ordered wrong... my standard breakfast with eggs, bacon, potatoes (an absolute mountain of potatoes) and a biscuit subbed for toast was just all right. The biscuit definitely wasn't worth the upcharge. One friend had the shrimp and grits, which I, the only southerner in the group, didn't recognize as any shrimp and grits I've ever seen. But he enjoyed it. Another friend had the Chilaquiles and also enjoyed her meal. We shared the seasonal crisp (blackberry) and that was quite good. Our serivce was very friendly and coffee and drinks were also nice. I think this place has a lot of potential and I would try it again. I would recommend more of the unusual breakfast offerings and not the stuff you can get anywhere - that didn't feel like their strength. Live a little.

Great spot in Los feliz! Lots of yummy foods and drinks to choose from. Known for their oysters - so fresh!! Must try happy hour burger- perfect amount of sauce/ cheese. Brussels sprouts + okra have a great taste as well. I was bummed about the Banana desert ... it was missing something. Service was quick. Parking: valet/ street metered parking.

Broncos beat the chiefs. Time for a celebration. What does a celebration meal sound like? Steak. Side of brussel sprouts. Mac and cheese. Beer. Hot brownie with ice cream. Happy Crying. Everything was great. Service was super. Fire was lit.

Came here for the Happy Hour before a concert at the Greek Theater. Prices have gone up a bit but still wanted to check out the HH menu. We were greeted and seated right away. It wasn't busy so they came right away to take our order. We ordered a few beers. I like that they do have decent beer on the menu, although not a big selection. It's just their draft beers and its one of each type (1 IPA on the menu, 1 lager on the menu, 1 amber on the menu, etc). Afterwards we ordered a burger ($10), a shrimp slider ($3), and the loaded fries ($12). The burger was simple but ok. The shrimp slider was underwhelming. It had one shrimp on a pile of coleslaw. I wouldn't recommend this. The Loaded fries were ok. I would say the burger was the best out of all three. We had another round of beer and heading into the concert. Service is great, and the beer ($6) is also a good deal. The food is ok, I don't know if I would come here for the HH food again. They have TV's playing the games so that might be another reason to visit if you're looking for a chill place to watch. Either way, we left satisfied enough to continue our evening.

Fantastic time here! I loved the 2012-priced Mess Burger which was $16 instead of $23. The fries were great. The burger was sublime. It was so saucy and juicy. Absolute 5. The quinoa salad was yummy. Fun to look at. The oysters were ok. Fun to try tho! Great nice service. Cool to sit outside.

Solid BBQ spot for good drinks and hearty BBQ meals! My boyfriend and I visited before heading to the Greek Theatre and it was a good start to the day! Loved the refreshing michelada and creamy Mac n cheese! I wish the tuna tartare had more tuna and ponzu sauce. Ambiance was casual with 80s music in the background (perfect for the Greek Theatre event). Service was good too!

We stopped in for a late lunch and sat at the bar. Kevin was our bartender and extremely kind while going over his favorites on the menu. For drinks, we had the Amanda and a white wine. We shared plates including the full portion Cesar, dry rub wings and crispy okra. Overall the food was delicious and as prescribed. If you're an avid Cesar lover, this one does come with avocado. Very yummy. They are known for their BBQ, especially ribs. I will try it on the next visit. Brunch is available as well including mimosas and bottles of Rose' It's comfortable enough to bring the whole family or pop in for a quick bite. I thought the ceiling leading to the bathroom decorated with Messhall trays was a nice touch. Check it out, it has something for everyone

Visited the Messhall on Friday June 20, 2025 to grab a bite and some drinks before the OMD concert - And they took care of us very well!! Ambiance: American menu restaurant with plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor - with a big bar! SERVICE: Tonight was Fabulous. We showed up without a reservation (and they were busy) but, they were very nice and assured us they would get us in. We only waited about 15 minutes and - sure enough....we got a great outdoor seat. Our server was nice and attentive. FOOD: Also Fab!! We tried a few things and everything tasted very good. The burger is a great choice, but we also had the Messhall Cobb, Tostada, Pulled Pork Sando, and the Mac n' Cheese! (And of course some drinks) - All YUM!! Great place to hang with friends. Go give them a try - especially before a concert at The Greek!!

And it doesn't leave me wanting more. The presentation looks great for pictures but don't be fool. The food and drink is mediocre. Cheap alcohol was used that burns when swallowed, some drinks I couldn't finish it because it doesn't taste great. It was so hot and stuffy inside (when it's still April and cold outside). The ac should be turned on for air flow since it's such a small hole in the wall bar style sitting with very low ceiling. Hardly any room to walk when there's ppl sitting down on the stool. So the stuffiness and being hot made the experience even more unpleasant. On top of all that, the lady behind the counter was touching everything including the food with her bare hands. Not once did I see her wash it between preparing, servings and cleaning the counter. Plus, napkins wasn't given when needed. When asked, she handed one tiny thin small square napkin per person ‍. Sanitation and cleanliness for the food isn't all there for the $100 mandatory tips per person is ridiculous to me. Tips shouldn't be mandatory anywhere. Plus, even with the time of our reservation. The host, John, emailed us to change our time to a later schedule.. like from 6pm to 9pm. Are you kidding me? If we wanted that time slot then we would have picked it instead of making reservation at 6pm on a Thursday night. Overall, it's just a one time experience that doesn't make me go wow.. I wouldn't want to come back because the food and drinks pairing doesn't go well together. I had better.

Outdoor patio seating is great, and reminds of eating outdoors in a European cafe. Indoor seating is a little cramped if you're at one of the tables, which also sort of mimics European cafes. My one small knock on this restaurant is the service has been inconsistent. Couple times our waiter was great, but a couple times it was hard to flag them down, they didn't space out the dishes very well as the appetizers and entrees all came out the same time, or they forgot to bring water when we asked for it. OVERALL It was nice to slip into The Famous Bar for the first time in over a decade, and if I found myself spending time in downtown Glendale again, I'd consider another visit. Sadly, I try to avoid the highly congested area as much as possible. I loved the fact that they had a daily happy hour (4pm-7pm) and late-night SU-TH happy hours (10:30pm-close), so there was always a deal to be found. The drinks were the main reason you came, while the food was just an add-on. The prices were elevated, but you had a good menu selection of libations (nice local craft beer list) to choose from. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $42.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... My partner and I recently went on a tiki bar roadtrip from Tacoma down to Palm Springs, and I think…read morethat Lucky Tiki might be my top spot out of the 10 or so locations we visited. Drinks: Really, really good. My absolute favorite was the boat drink with foam on top, but we split several others and I liked everything we tried. Vibe: Unmatched. There are several drinks on the menu with a theatrical presentation that gets the whole bar involved. The space is small, so you'll inevitably have your conversation interrupted by an alluring siren's call or some ceremonial rowers. This is a crucial part of the tiki experience for me. The bartenders all have their different spin and clearly are in it for the love of the game. We had a lot of fun chatting with the staff. Food: I ate 2 orders of soup dumplings and probably could have bodied down 5 more. They were ridiculously good, but prohibitively expensive.

Some of my LA friends have frequented tiki bars for years, and after visiting Lucky Tiki recently,…read moreI finally get it. Tiki cocktails have expanded beyond rum into smokier tequila and mezcal drinks, which are more my speed. Lucky Tiki takes planning. You'll probably need a reservation weeks ahead and yes, they'll politely kick you out after 2 hours. These drinks are delicious and designed to ruin your decision-making skills. Worth it. Uber home, obviously. This spot is "hidden" in a bowling alley, and inside you'll find retro lighting and decor and tiki cocktails. One drink came with bubbles, another arrived flaming, and one to a soundtrack of thunder and lightning. It's part cocktail bar, part performance, and the staff is committed to the bit. They have two LA locations, which helps if one is booked.

The Bottom Line 4 stars: A good upscale experience of some exotic food and drinks. Highly…read morerecommended! Location 4 stars: On Casitas Avenue in a somewhat unexpected residential area in Atwater Village, North of where the 2 and 5 freeways meet. Parking is not difficult. There is limited parking spots upfront but also a large parking lot and Valet parking. Venue 4 stars: Beautiful rustic upscale venue with indoor and outdoor tables and a full bar. Service 4 stars: Friendly, attentive, efficient and helpful staff. Food 4 stars: You can order individually or share a few small and large plates as a group. The theme is modern and eclectic Mediterranean and North African. We ordered the following appetizers and shared them among our group: Muhammara, Meatballs and Octopus Carpaccio. We also ordered the following main plates: Beef Shishlik, Whole Branzino and Prime Short Rib Tagine. For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate & Halva Sundae and the Tiramisu. Everything we had was creative, used fresh ingredients, was nicely plated, and tasted wonderful. Prices are on the higher side, as expected for an upscale restaurant. Drinks 4 stars: Full bar: Creative specialty cocktails, spirits, beer, wine and soft drinks. We had the Pornstar and the White Negroni specialty cocktails. Both were very good. Again, prices are on the higher side, as expected for an upscale restaurant.
