French toast was simply amazing..
Terrance S.

They always come through with a winner here. Perfect location and great staff here. Open air and patio seating for great ambiance. Food choices are great with healthy options and pure deliciousness. Don't miss out on this one. The beach is right down the street.

They have inside sitting and outside sitting as well. Parking is easy.... On the back. And service is amicable. The food is delicious. Please note portions are huge... so if you have a small appetite, you may want to share. The ambiance is peaceful and conducive to conversations. Overall, I highly do recommend.

Came here on a Thursday when trying to find a brunch spot near LAX before a flight. This was a golden find. We ordered 3 "favorites" from the menu. The Avocado toast, El Segundo Omelette, and the Sautéed banana pancakes. I am not exaggerating when I say all 3 were delicious. Their portion size is beyond expectations. We were jaw dropped when they brought out the plates because they were huge; especially the Avocado Toast. The menu has one side for breakfast/brunch and another side for lunch. I haven't had the chance to try the lunch side but definitely will be coming back to. The El Segundo Omelette is great if you're a caramelized onion lover. As one, they did it perfect. The Sautéed Banana house pancakes are underrated. Never had anything like it at other restaurants. It's one you'd comeback for. The ambience is beautiful. Especially when it's nice and sunny making it a great brunch environment. Restaurant is super clean and neat. The workers are helpful. Overall a great experience. If you needed a brunch place before heading to LAX, I highly recommend. It's around 14 min from the airport.

Sunny, Relaxing Brunch Spot I stopped by Metro Café in El Segundo for brunch with family, and we had a really lovely experience. The service was great, the atmosphere was bright and relaxing, and the open, sunny space made it an easy place to unwind. The food was delicious overall. The fresh fruit was amazing, and the strawberry mint lemonade was refreshing and delightful. The only small suggestion I'd make is for the Petit Italian -- the ciabatta slices were a bit too thick, and it made the dish a little messy to eat. Thinner slices would make it perfect. Other than that, everything was wonderful. Great service, great food, great vibe. I'd definitely come back again.

Sautéed banana pancakes! HOT in the middle... don't burn your tongue! Also, best to SHARE! Too big & indulgent for 1.

Great spot. Easy parking. Beachy-salt water fresh air, no LAX noise. Several dogs, but shockingly well-behaved. Unlike WeHo dogs. Had to self-sign the waiting list, but it went by fast. The Yelp pics of the infamous banana sauté pancakes brought me here... but I wish I would've SHARED them, and gotten a savory egg entree instead. Potatoes and chicken sausage were good. Nice staff. I'd go back, if I lived closer.

Staff were really amazing, ambiance and food was super great! Dennis and Gio specifically were really attentive and had great customer service. Overall a great place to eat in El Segundo!

If you're ever picking someone up or dropping someone off at LAX, this a great place nearby in a nice area to try! Firstly I love restaurants that have great indoor and outdoor seating and a lot of natural light, and this place happens to have both. Unfortunately I was too hungry to take pictures before I could take a few bites, but everything we ordered was excellent. One thing I did notice was how fresh the food was, even the eggs were pretty incredible, they were so fresh they were almost an orange color which I thought was unique. I'm also a person that likes to ask the servers or wait staff what they recommend and each item our server recommended was great. I normally hate making the drive to LAX, but now that I know this place is close by I think I'll hate it a lot less now.

*Delayed post from July '25 We really enjoyed our meal and experience here at Metro Cafe! Free public parking is conveniently available next door in the garage. We sat outside and appreciated the large amount of shade provided by the umbrellas. The restaurant is an indoor, outdoor hybrid because the windows are huge and open completely to allow the sea breeze inside. TVs line the indoor walls with various sports games and real plants are sprinkled throughout the space. To start we ordered a cappuccino and a matcha latte, which both came out with a large amount of foam on top with latte art and a slice of brown sugar on the side. The smoked salmon benedict was delicious and went well with the egg muffins underneath. I recommend adding Cholula sauce to give the hollandaise a kick. There was a significant amount of salmon and I loved the tomatoes and fresh herbs on top. All the plates seemed to have large portions, but the French toast especially was massive! It's made with four giant brioche slices that are crunchy and crispy on the outside, yet spongy and moist in the middle from being properly soaked through. I think it would be better however to cut the slices in half because you would have a better ratio of crispy to spongey in every bite. The raspberry jam pairs well with the sweet meal because it's tart and adding the fresh fruit is a must because you need more textures and flavors to break up the monotony of eating sugar coated bread. I personally didn't need to use the syrup at all with how sweet and moist the bread already was, but they provide it for those with an extra sweet tooth.

Great service, great food variety and clean restaurant. My fav dishes are avocado toast, pancakes and the French toast. We will trying this place for dinner.

I came to Metro Cafe in El Segundo with the fam for breakfast on my first day back in LA, and we were firing on all cylinders. As I pulled up, I saw my 11 month old nephew outside smiling at me from ear to ear. I have been fighting demons recently and hadn't seen him in a few months, and that smile was honestly all I needed. If they could bottle a baby's genuine smile and sell it, I think it could cure depression worldwide. 6 of us and 1 baby sat down in Metro, natural light flooding in from the huge windows as we caught up. Vibes were UP. The older I get, the more I see my peers having fractured family dynamics, so I'm beyond grateful to have such a great relationship with my Mom, Dad, brother, and sister in law. A true blessing. I locked in on my lifeblood order of 2 eggs any style with chicken sausage ($21). The thing about me is I just love ordering a breakfast I could easily make at home. Idk why, but a simple breakfast feeds my soul. Brings me back to homeostasis. I must note that $21 for this plate is STEEP, but the portion size was huge which was nice. The food was also phenomenal, but $21 for a basic breakfast still just doesn't sit right. We had a blast in here catching up, discussing hopes, dreams, aspirations, love, and how expensive a simple breakfast meal has become. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

French Toast

Decided to give this place a second try because my boyfriend wanted french toast. The last time we were here, he liked it. I decided to order the Nutella crepes with fruit and eggs/bacon/potatoes. They were okay. We got watermelon with our orders and the watermelon looked and tasted old. As for the french toast my boyfriend didn't even eat it, he cut it and the inside was still raw and it tasted too much like runny egg. He was grossed out and just didn't eat it at all. Why make the French toast that thick when it isn't even gonna cook right.... Mad that we came here again just for the french toast and it wasn't even worth it.

Had breakfast here and I must say....wow! Food was delicious, the eggs were so yellow and tasted amazing. I had an omelette and was very satisfied. We also ordered a side of the house pancakes and they were insanely good. 4 stars and not 5 because it did take some time for server to take our order. Will definitely come back.

Metro Café's Veggie Frittata that I demolished!!! The side of potatoes was absolutely inspiring in taste and texture.
Kris G.

WOW! My husband and I have passed this spot many times seeing the happy customers inside, so we finally stepped in. This place is AMAZING! I had the Veggie Frittata and, no joke, when I say I had to hold back on INHALING this plate... I am not joking at all! The side potatoes are a whole new level of food pleasure. I barely paid attention to my husband (sorry babe!) because I was so wrapped up in my food ecstasy. (Think the When Harry Met Sally cafe scene. If you know, ya know.) The ambiance was simply perfect! We were treated so well by all staff, with many stopping by to refill our drinks or bring extra napkins at the simplest sign we may be in need. Everyone was so kind, respectful, and best of all welcoming. On our way out we noticed the beautiful couple next to us and they had ordered the French toast. My mouth dropped at the MASSIVE portion of the delectable plate in between them. I guess the wife noticed my eyes bulging out in awe because she smiled and let me know that it is the BEST French toast in all of the South Bay. She also let me know that the full plate was enough to share between her and her husband with home fries on the side. I thanked her, apologized for my drool, and noted to try that order the next time I came in. I can barely wait to stop by again!!! Please stop by this gorgeous spot in El Segundo and treat your taste buds to a the beat meal you could ever hope for. Thank you so much, Metro Cafe staff, for making our visit an absolute pleasure. You all deserve to be celebrated for your service! xoxo

We enjoyed the fried asparagus and bacon deviled eggs as our appetizer. The buttermilk fried chicken, crispy chicken sandwich and the ribeye melt were really good, but I am STILL thinking about how incredible Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni was. So incredibly creamy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of heat. My daughter orders this every time it's on a menu, and this is by far the best I've ever tasted. SO good. We had mentioned we were celebrating our twins' birthday, and they were served two lovely pieces of chocolate cake with a candle, AND a card for each of them signed by the staff. We started with a coffee and café latte, which were just okay. We wanted to order the ceviche, but it was unfortunately unavailable. Eggs Benedict with Ham: Not worth the $19 price tag. The egg wasn't very runny, and the overall flavors were nothing special. Belgian Waffle: Met expectations--a safe choice. Breakfast Pita: Essentially a breakfast burrito in pita bread form. Very solid and served with a great hot sauce. The spiced hashbrowns were also a very nice touch. Overall, the menu felt stronger on the Mexican side than the Mediterranean. Unfortunately, the hot sauce ended up being the most flavorful part of our meal. If I were to return, I'd stick to one of the Mexican dishes. The first thing I noticed about Manhattan Beach Post was the plants. Not because there were a few…read moreplants. Lots of restaurants have a few plants. These plants appeared to have union representation. They're everywhere. Hanging from things. Growing out of things. Quietly observing your meal. The whole place feels like someone built a really nice restaurant and then let nature move in as a long term tenant. The room hums. Not loudly. Not aggressively. Just enough. Glasses clink. People lean into conversations. Servers weave through the room carrying plates that look heavy enough to alter their center of gravity. Nobody seems rushed. Everybody seems busy. It's a difficult balance. The biscuits arrived first. Now, I'd heard about the biscuits. People talk about these biscuits the way fishermen talk about the one that got away. Slightly dramatic. A little emotional. Hard to verify. Turns out the stories were true. Warm bacon cheddar biscuits with maple butter. I took one bite and immediately understood why people order a second round. The outside has just enough structure to remind you it's baked. The inside is soft enough to make you wonder whether butter has secretly become a building material. We ordered another. Not because we needed another. Because apparently that's what happens here. The creamy polenta showed up next and felt like the culinary equivalent of a weighted blanket. Comforting. Smooth. Relaxed. The sort of dish that encourages you to slow down and stop checking your phone. The duck was one of my favorites. Lightly fried with crisp skin and tender meat, resting on white Italian beans and rosemary. It felt like something a French chef would cook after spending a weekend in the countryside and becoming briefly inspired by fresh air. At some point you stop evaluating food and simply nod in agreement with it. This was one of those moments. Dessert was equally dangerous. The olive oil cake arrived with strawberries and disappeared much faster than logic suggested it should. The cheesecake somehow managed to be rich and light at the same time, which feels like it should violate a law of physics somewhere. Service deserves its own mention. The whole team operates like a group project where everyone actually did their part. Plates appeared when they should. Water glasses mysteriously refilled themselves. Questions were answered without anyone making you feel like you should already know the answer. The chef's French influence shows up everywhere, but not in a showy way. Nothing feels complicated for the sake of being complicated. Everything feels like somebody spent a lot of time thinking about it so you wouldn't have to. By the end of the meal, I realized Manhattan Beach Post had done something difficult. It felt special without feeling serious. You can dress up. You can come casually. You can celebrate something important or absolutely nothing at all. Just order the biscuits. The plants already know you're going to.

Some dishes could've been executed better. Going down the list of dishes I had here: - Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits: These were more like scones rather than biscuits. Crunchy with good bacon and cheddar flavor. - Japanese Hamachi Crudo: Unique and I liked the citrusy flavor and creamy texture. However, 3 small slices of fish for $26 was overpriced. - Leafy Greens & Radicchio: Solid and crispy salad with a nice tangy dressing. The cheese also added a lot of sharp flavor which was nice. - Skirt Steak: Good flavor and char, but a bit tough. Also some dry pieces. - Chilean Sea Bass: Lemon orzo risotto was creamy and delicious. The sea bass itself was okay, nothing special. It felt overpowered by the risotto. The fish was moist and flaky though. - 20 Oz Prime Beef Ribeye: Quality was subpar relative to price. Portion size was solid by the steak itself was inconsistent. Some of the pieces were rarer while others were more well-done even though we asked for medium rare. There were also some dry pieces which I did not like. Flavor was good though. - Strawberry and Olive Oil Cake: Was confused since there was just a thin layer of cake, but realized the title also referred to the mousse. I would title it 'Strawberry Mousse with Olive Oil Cake" to make it less confusing. Regardless, this was a delicious dessert! Love the fruity strawberry and savory pistachio flavors as well as the smooth textures. - S'mores sundae: Got this on the house for my aunt's birthday. A generous portion but the components were a bit too sweet for my liking. I visited this restaurant for a birthday that I organized and my experience was overall good. Reservation was made easy using OpenTable and I could also mention it was for a birthday occasion. The ambiance was gorgeous with good mood lighting. Good for group and 1 on 1 dining. Parking is metered or street parking. Overall, I probably wouldn't come out of my way to dine here again, but my experience wasn't bad just not significant enough to put in my rotation. Would come back if someone treated me here though.

Customer Service Incident- 5-19-26 Check # 72 Table 31…read more This report outlines concerns regarding a recent dining experience at Tin Roof Bistro (TRB) in Manhattan Beach. While prior visits to the restaurant have consistently met high standards of quality and service, several service and billing issues during the most recent visit resulted in dissatisfaction and concern regarding the accuracy of the final bill and tip calculation. Following a lengthy day of medical appointments and a 90-minute drive from UCLA during rush hour traffic, my wife and I decided to dine at Tin Roof Bistro rather than return home to prepare a meal. Based on previous positive experiences, we expected the same level of quality and service historically associated with the establishment. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly and initially received courteous service from our waiter, Brandon. However, several issues arose throughout the course of the meal: We ordered two glasses of wine shortly after being seated. Despite the simplicity of the order, the beverages were not delivered in a timely manner. Our order included: * A Caesar salad to share * Bread service * Two entrées After an extended wait period, I reminded the waiter that the Caesar salad had not yet been served. The salad was then delivered promptly following the reminder. At the time the salad arrived, I specifically requested that the entrées not be brought out until we had finished the salad course. Despite this request, the entrées were delivered within minutes, before we had consumed more than a few bites of the salad. We asked staff to remove the entrées temporarily until we completed the appetizer course. The entrées were eventually re-served and were of good quality. Billing and Point-of-Sale Concerns The primary concern arose during the payment process. The electronic payment screen initially appeared accurate with respect to the total amount due. Based on the displayed total, I elected to leave a 20% gratuity despite the service shortcomings experienced during the meal. After requesting a printed receipt, I discovered the following: * The entrées had been entered twice on the bill. * A corresponding credit had been applied to offset the duplicate charge. * The gratuity calculation, however, appeared to be based on the inflated subtotal before the duplicate entrée credit was applied. This duplicate entry increased the apparent bill total by approximately 54%, which in turn increased the calculated tip amount accordingly. Due to fatigue at the time, I chose not to pursue the matter with management during the visit. However, I also observed a nearby table returning an order, which raises concern that similar billing or service issues may have affected other customers. Concerns and Recommendations Given the increasing public discussion surrounding questionable tipping and point-of-sale practices, this experience raises concerns regarding whether: 1. The issue resulted from an employee action, or 2. The POS system is improperly calculating gratuity suggestions based on inaccurate pre-adjustment totals. While I cannot determine whether this incident was intentional, I strongly recommend that Tin Roof Bistro review its POS system configuration and billing procedures to ensure gratuity calculations are based solely on the actual final total owed by the customer. Additionally, improved coordination between kitchen staff and servers regarding course timing would significantly improve the dining experience. This experience was disappointing, particularly because Tin Roof Bistro has historically maintained a high standard of service and consistency. Although the food quality remained good, the service delays and billing irregularities negatively impacted the overall experience. Should I choose to dine at TRB again, I will pay closer attention to the billing and gratuity calculations before completing payment.
