First time at Metro Diner and have always wanted to check it out. I came here with a co-worker in the morning when we got off work and there was no wait. We were able to pick anywhere we wanted to sit and picked a booth in the back. Great selection of different breakfast items and it was hard to choose. There are also specials written on the walls that aren't on the menu. I ended up getting the biscuit and gravy with hash browns and scrabble eggs. My co-worker got the waffle and chicken. Once the food came out I didn't realize how big the portions were and of course I had left overs to take home. The food was very filling and tasted okay. I put hot sauce and everything tasted much better! My co-worker let me try a piece of chicken and it was amazing. very crispy and juicy. Next time I will order the chicken and waffle it was right on point. Great atmosphere, service, and friendly staff that kept checking up on us to see how we were doing and if we enjoyed the food. The first time we visited, we had to wait for a bit and it was packed. We came back today at 3 pm and there are many empty tables. There are huge portions here. Fun menu here as well. They have several interesting items that venture away from typical diner fare. My wife's 3 dollar Bloody Mary came with a salt rim last time. This time it had no rim, but they added celery and lemon. I like consistency, but for 3 bucks I can't complain. Ordered burger medium rare the first time we were here and it came back well done on one side and a nice medium on the other. They cut it in half before plating. Did they switch the patty? I blame myself for not ordering rare I just expected better based on the reviews. I usually order a temperature level down in places new to me. I had this saved as a draft when I came in today. I ordered the same burger, but did not read my draft and ordered medium rare again! So I just chased down the waitress and requested it rare. I guess I just remembered really enjoying the burger last time, despite the disappointing temperature. Moral of the story, write reviews and then you can check them next time you visit! Especially because the burger came back medium rare, which is all I ever wanted. It was so much better at medium rare. I'm going to return and always order rare to hopefully continue getting a medium rare burger. And honestly the grilled cheese sandwiches instead of plain bread make this worth risking the temperature on. read more

Their signature dish is the chicken and waffles. It's the best I've ever had! The chicken is juicy and crispy. The waffles were toasty and fluffy on the inside. The portion size is huge! Definitely had to get a To-Go box. They make a syrup and hot sauce mix for the chicken and it was unexpectedly really really good. The Bloody Mary was perfect. Hot chocolate was sweet and creamy. 1st thing. I absolutely did not expect this place to be so good. After moving to LA and comparing the options of restaurants to Orlando, metro diner through me a curve ball. This establishment provides that classic southern livin' vibe in its decorations (for me at least). I came here with family and didnt expect the menu to be so big and the portions to be so filling. The service was good and we were taken care of even though we had a pretty big party. Our waitress was very patient with our requests. I was looking at the chicken and waffles with the strawberry butter (I think it was) but I didnt want to take the risk of being disappointed. I ended up getting the philly cheesesteak in which I regretted as soon as I saw the chicken and waffles. Dang it was big and juicy.lol The food was phenomenal and so was the experience. I'd always heard good things about this place and tried it for the first time at lunch either my daughter. Diner sometimes conjures up visions of a "greasy spoon" but this place was terrific. Food excellent and plentiful. I had soup and the fish and chips...both excellent. My daughter had Eggs Benedict and was also very happy. I have been going to the Metro Diner for many years, long before they came to central Florida and even before they started to break from just having locations in the Jacksonville, Florida area. I do not like that they have cut a lot of items from the menu. This included my favorite dish from the Metro Diner, which was a pork, bacon and spinach sandwich. This was an amazing sandwich and it was a sad moment in my heart when they kicked it off their menu. I understand the need to streamline their menu as they look to become a national chain, but it does not mean that I have to like it. The Metro Diner still has a good menu. Their burgers are always a good option. The benefits are a good choice for breakfast. My daughter likes their fried chicken and waffle. The Metro Diner has a good concept and I am sure that they will continue to grow across at least the southeast. They are in twelve States now. In addition to their starting point in Florids, they are also in Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. That's quite a bit if expansion for a company that started with a tiny location in Jacksonville, Florida. They are not a bad option. Now only if they would bring back that pork, bacon and spinach sandwich, life would be a lot better, lol. I would recommend a visit to the Metro Diner. read more

Diana is an excellent server, pays attention to details and prompt when we needed anything, even though we were eating outside. OMG!!! This food was sooo good I had to post before leaving the parking lot! The food came out quick and was fresh! The bacon was cooked perfectly and the chicken is really good. I now want to try all of their chicken items. All I can say is the service was fast, food was fast and delicious, and I even ordered a Mimosa. Let me tell you, I last ordered a Mimosa at Cracker Barrel in Tennessee . They brought out a half filled champagne bottle and a wine glass with orange juice, and the champagne was gross. This is my second time eating here and after my first I knew I'd come back. Which is why when the hubby and I were on our way somewhere else and I saw the diner I insisted we stop and eat there. Hubby is always hesitant to try new places, so he was reserved when we got there. Even though the place was hopping, they seated us in about 5 min. They had a seasonal menu on the board that looked too tasty not to try. I went with a pumpkin Belgian waffle that had pumpkin flavored cream cheese, candied pecans and cinnamon butter. With all that I didn't need syrup and the pumpkin flavoring wasn't overwhelming. I ate every last bite because it was so good and it totally filled me up. The hubby got the pumpkin french toast and I was a bit jealous when they delivered it. They used croissant bread and talk about tasty! My BF loves their huevos rancheros - choice of eggs served over fried tortilla shells, chorizo sausage, black beans, onions and peppers. Topped with melted cheese, salsa, sour cream, jalapeños and green onions. It's a really big portion and made very well everything has great seasoning and flavor! While I love their traditional egg, sausage and toast breakfasts I sometimes look for extra ordinary options and give them a try. A new favorite is the crossiant french toast. Buttery flakey crossaints get a makeover and are battered and grilled to perfection! it's a nice twist to a classic breakfast item. Went to the Metro Dinner tonight for the first time in a long while. We used to go there once a week. Then things changed the menu got smaller. We gave it a try tonight, asked to sit at a table in the middle back. They never told the server we were there, then one of the servers came over after 10 minutes, took our order and left, drinks came after a while. A couple came in after us, they got their drinks right away and then a appetizer and there main meal before we got ours. So after being there for 15 to 20 minutes and we only got our drinks, we left. What a disappointment. Always passed and saw how packed they are. Gave it a try for a group brunch. The food was a 5/10 at its best. The fried chicken were way too salty. It wasn't edible unless you're planning on being on a diuretic to fight the hypernatremia. Our hostess mentioned they received other complaints today regarding it being salty and was nice enough to take it off of our check. When we replaced it with chicken tenders, it was on the saltier side as well. The best was their Philly cheesesteaks sandwich and croissant. I could only blame how busy it is and being not enough staff could have resulted in this poor experience with food tasting subpar. read more

The server Alexa (not to be confused with Jeff Bezos), is a tremendous server. Ask for her. She is delightful in a hundred thousand ways. My friend and I had brunch. Both excellent. The cooks always over perform. In four years of going to Metro I've never had a bad experience. With Covid as part of our mix, I want to support these restaurants as best I can. Have to echo what others have written about this place, 5 Stars for sure! Came here on a weekday for lunch and there was no wait. We were seated right away. Didn't brave the weekend crowds, but heard it is a wait. The air inside is cool, the service is quick and genuinely friendly. Felt the kind and happy vibes of our server, Natalie, right away. Got some great recommendations from her on lunch, and she was spot on. Was looking for some comfort food, so started with the cheese grits and then the Cajun chicken pasta for a main entree. The cheese grits, now girl, I'm a southerner all the way, and these were some of the best cheese grits I've ever had. Perfectly creamy, mildly buttery flavor, with golden melted cheese on top. Didn't need to add salt or butter or anything, simply great on their own. The Cajun chicken pasta with garlic bread was very good and satisfying. Had to box some pasta up since the grits were so filling. I will definitely come back again for a brunch or early dinner. Love the fast pace of a diner with traditional dining counter and stools, and the upbeat music playing. The manager came over to check on us and he was very sincere in hoping we had a nice lunch.
