I have been here a few times in the past couple of weeks, what can I say. The food is amazing. Service has been great each time I dine in. My new favorite is the huevos rancheros. I'm Mexican and have never liked them as much as I do from here. Thank you, Tiffany, for taking such great care of us. I work in the service industry and I know things happen all the time, it's hard to keep everything perfect. The food is great. What I first experienced upon walking in was a customer shouting down and disrespecting a waiter. I guess the customer thought he could bully people like he does in the hood. We love Metro Diners breakfast - I order one egg with the honestly-good grits. So delicious! However, I noticed that there were no prices for the beverages. I asked the server and she said she's never noticed. Hot tea is $3.49, which is a bit much for it. Just odd that everything else has a price but the drinks. read more

Went here on a whim and it was a good idea. I tried the (seasonal) pumpkin pancakes, which I was a little nervous to get as I thought they would be too sweet. It was not overwhelming at all. Just enough sweet and pumpkin flavor all around. My grits could've used more seasoning, but that's always. The only thing that didn't impress me too much was the pumpkin coffee. It was just average. A great spot breakfast spot. I enjoyed taking my 5yr old on my most recent visit. He downed his kids pancakes and then a plate of sausage patties. I enjoy the diner vibes and the staff is friendly. The food is good diner food. Mostly heavy, large portions, greasy but comforting dishes. I enjoyed the Southwest Scramble Bowl, the avocado was fresh and there was a good portion of eggs, beans, corn and not too much salsa. I wish there were less hash-browns. They were good, but to much of them lining the bowl and took away some of the freshness of the dish, so I just ate around them. I would get again and ask if the hash-browns be on the side so I could just add in how much I wanted. This place has all the draw of a diner but with WAY better food and service. Went here as a group of 9 with no reservation at lunch on a Saturday and had only about a 20 minute wait. Our waitress, Ariana, was prompt and kind and had only smiles for us despite half of our group being kids-- it can be hard to find a restaurant that doesn't make families with young kids feel like a burden. I ordered the BLT, my husband got a cinnamon roll pancake (my lord, so delicious) and southwest bowl. Mom got their popular meatloaf; dad got a breakfast plate, and all the kids got pancakes. Every single thing was delicious. Bacon super crispy, pancakes obviously batter on a griddle. They had that delicious buttery crispness on the bottom. And they actually have sweet tea here. It's always surprising when places offer you unsweetened tea with sugar packets. Metro's tea is real sweet though so I'd recommend half unsweet half sweet. The inside was busy but clean. Seasoned Fries accompanied these well prepared platters and were cooked to perfection, not too hard and not too soft, just right! My wife and I are longtime Diner setting patrons and this one caught our attention as we drove by 434 in Maitland/Altamonte Springs area, so we had to stop in. Their chicken tenders are fire, the meatloaf was pretty good. That strawberry butter that comes with the waffles? Definitely try some of that. A great spot for breakfast in Altamonte. My wife's granola-yogurt was colorful and tasty, and I enjoyed my pressed breakfast burrito, which had apparently been prepared in a waffle iron. To me, the star of the show was my cheese grits, which shouldn't be missed. A huge, satisfying cheese pull awaits your first forkful. Requested answer to question from manager: Hi Andrew, it's great that you responded to my post - I respect that. I loved the concept and look of my breakfast burrito, and I very much appreciated having a fun vegetarian option, but the flavor was a bit bland, and it ate a bit dry. The supplied salsa helped, but was only enough for one of the two halves. We've been on and off visitors of this fine, old-school themed diner nestled in the northeast side of Altamonte Springs since its opening. The new menu that I'm loving has been updated since we started coming here, but the staple favorite is still that famous fried chicken and waffles topped with powdered sugar and a side of strawberry butter. The meals here can get a little pricey, but worth what you spend since everything on the menu is homemade. The staff knows how rotate tables quickly and the service is usually very positive and friendly. My new favorite is the apple cinnamon-stuffed pancakes, lightly drizzled with cream cheese icing, apple cobbler crumbles and topped with cinnamon sugar butter. A side of home fries to tame the sugar, but delicious nonetheless. Honestly this place is a hit or miss for me. I had their turkey club a while back and it was amazing, went in for it again... week after thanksgiving and the texture of the turkey was not the same as the ham. You've guessed it. Beef tips, shepherds pie....pumpkin pie, lol. I can't think of anything we haven't liked here. Tonight we had the delightful and sweet Christina. We had a stressful day and she gave us a stress-free evening. I appreciate her kindness and smiles to end our day on a much much much better note. First time at Metro Diner and have always wanted to check it out. I came here with a co-worker in the morning when we got off work and there was no wait. We were able to pick anywhere we wanted to sit and picked a booth in the back. Great selection of different breakfast items and it was hard to choose. There are also specials written on the walls that aren't on the menu. I ended up getting the biscuit and gravy with hash browns and scrabble eggs. My co-worker got the waffle and chicken. Once the food came out I didn't realize how big the portions were and of course I had left overs to take home. The food was very filling and tasted okay. I put hot sauce and everything tasted much better! My co-worker let me try a piece of chicken and it was amazing. very crispy and juicy. Next time I will order the chicken and waffle it was right on point. Great atmosphere, service, and friendly staff that kept checking up on us to see how we were doing and if we enjoyed the food.
