This place is northern diner food with southern charm service experience. This place would be 5 stars if they had a good cook. I would give it 3 stars for food. The service and staff are fast, wonderful, and gracious. The place looks great and place is very clean. That is the good news. I had the corn beef hash and poached eggs with a biscuit. My wife had poached eggs and toast. The portions were normal. The food suffers due to lack of great flavor and being under cooked. The poached eggs were under cooked and very runny. The hash browns didn't have much flavor and a bit dry. The biscuit looked like a biscuit but tasted like a dinner role. As most of you know, a dinner role is bland. They need a proper southern biscuit dough recipe. We will try it again for other items on the menu. read more

Loved it. Great comfort food and large portions. The cheese ball appetizer things are so delicious and addictive and are really so great to start a meal. The food comes out super quickly so be prepared not to chat too long during your appetizer like we did because otherwise your entrée will arrive quickly. Walked in around 11:30 in the morning had zero wait time, the food came to our table in about 15-20 minutes not that bad of a wait time, went pretty quick. The servicing sizes are huge for sides like eggs, and hash browns with my waffle order it didn't come along with bacon but it's only an additional 1.20 charge for a 4 stripes which would depends how much you like bacon. The waffle for our table came in two sessions, they handed out the last batch a few minutes later. The waffle size isn't that about a single size side plate and the taste is an average waffle. Depends if you enjoy waffles I would recommend. After we ate I had a satisfied feeling after and didn't feel that hungry or full. Really satisfied with my decision. Would recommend. read more

Stopped by before my flight back home and figured I stopped by to get a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was ok. It was a bit strong, but for $2.99, I didn't mind it. I gave the rating a 1 star as it is a clean place and nice ambiance. We ordered respectively a plain cheeseburger with Mac and cheese and a chicken tenders platter with a side salad. I received the salad 1st but not only did it have the wrong dressing but the tortilla strips that they put on it were burnt. I brought it to my waitress's attention and she stated that they are cooked exactly how they were supposed to be which I guess it means burnt. I received my food before I even received my dressing 15 minutes later. My tenders were burnt to a crisp they were inedible and extremely chewy. The cheeseburger had the cheese burnt on half of it. The manager offered a new batch and I declined. She did not charge for the tenders at least since they were not touched. Needless to say never going back. read more

I loved my visit to the Metro Diner. The food and service was beyond excellent. I found the syrup and hot sauce to be a very unique combination with chicken and waffles. I'm always hesitant about trying the chicken and waffles when I see it on the menu, but I'm so glad I did this time. The pricing is affordable. Food good. Sanitation so bad. We went here soon after they opened this location since it was closer to our house than the one near UCF. My review here is obviously months later. Here's what went wrong. Hostess walked us to a booth. Booth seats had crumbs and some greasy smears on both sides. I asked if they could clean these seats before we sat, but she simply walked us to a different table and said she'll get someone to clean it. I watched after we sat at the new table as she brought the next patrons to that same dirty booth (no one cleaned it yet) and those customers wiped the crumbs off with their bare hands as they scooted in. Shake my head. As we sat there, I watched a big guy in a dirty apron bus the tables. He pulled a filthy rag out of his dirty apron and proceeded to push crumbs around on the table. Literally no cleaning spray and no clean towel fresh from the sanitizer bucket. Just pushing crumbs around with this filthy rag. After missing most of the table he shoved the filthy rag back into his apron. He then moved to the next tables and did the same thing. Shake my head. The manager was walking around asking how patrons were doing. He came to our table and I pointed out the filthy rag busboy situation, he began to talk to me like I was a three year old. "You see sir, that towel is sanitized between tables." I grinned and told him I watched his busboy for the past 5 minutes and at no time did he sanitize the towel. The manager assured me that wasn't the case. I nodded and smiled at this point because it was obvious he was clueless. About 5 minutes later, I chuckled as I watched this same manager go in behind dirty busboy and clean the table properly with a clean, sanitized towel. I guess he got woke after he watched his busboy "clean" the tables. Shake my head. That was our first and last time there. Not a great experience. Food was good, but we won't be back to this location since cleanliness is not a high priority here. read more

Metro diner is my new favorite. Went with two small kids, decided to sit outside, and got hot delicious food within 15 minutes of sitting down. The kids got chocolate chip pancakes and a kids sampler. Both had enough food, and I was shocked by how many pancakes came for $3.99. I got the corned beef hash and poached eggs. Amazing, especially if you like corned beef hash from real corned beef. I went again today, and the food was still good, still fast, still super hot. This time I got biscuits and gravy, which was enough to feed two people. The husband got a Benedict and got gluten free bread which was also really great for a gluten free guy. It's a 3 star rating because the service just sucked. My friend was in need of some greasy diner food to nurse her bday hangover so we decided to try this location. We came in the afternoon on a weekend. My friend got there first so she grabbed us a table. It took about a good 10-15 minutes for me just to get a glass of water. There seemed to be confusion about who was covering our table because we had like 3 or 4 different waitresses and 2 of them said they were going to get me a water and then didn't. So that was fun. And then when I got my water, there was no straw. My friend and I were unsuccessful in flagging someone down for one and gave up. And the place wasn't terribly busy either. I would say the restaurant was half filled. There were still plenty of empty tables. So it doesn't seem like there's a good excuse for the service being poor. I do like that you can order breakfast all day. We were craving some breakfast options. My friend went with the corned beef hash and I opted for the biscuits and gravy. She was pleased with her food. The portion of my dish was bigger than I thought it would be. It was pretty filling but just your average biscuits and gravy dish. It could have used a bit more seasoning because it was kind of on the bland side. The food was fine/average. My issue was the service. They appear to be adequately staffed but it feels like everyone is just walking around and not really providing customer service or doing much. We even observed two waitresses just standing and talking to each other in the back area where they fill the drinks. I also observed food just sitting at the window a couple of times. Our actual waitress only came to take our order and give us the check. She didn't check up on us once. And I don't even recall her introducing herself either. This place knows how to do comfort food! but even more, this place knows GOOD SERVICE. I was having a really bad day, starving, so I gave metro a shot and I was blown away. The portions are enormous and the quality is there. I had a big breakfast platter with pancakes and it was only like twelve bucks! The best part about my experience was not the food, but my server who's name was TAYLOR. Huge bright smile from the first moment to the last and I noticed he gave the same amount of effort to everyone. While I was waiting for my my meal It seemed like he was doing every job in there, but still able to make me feel like I was the only one there. His energy changed my day around. I thought if this kid can have such a great attitude why can't I? Overall, this place went well beyond my expectations AND TAYLOR IS AN ABSOLUTE ANGEL. My wife ordered a small scrambled egg breakfast with croissant French toast. I ordered the crabcakes Benedict. Part of her meal was brought to the table with mine. The benedict poached eggs were so hard it looked like hard boiled eggs. The home fries were barely warm warm so I sent it back. 13 min later, the French toast finally came out. The benedict was pulled back into the kitchen so they could exchange the eggs, nothing else. Called the manager over and let her know it was not as usual. She did not seem concerned, so we left. Avocado toast to go! The portion size was way larger than I expected. The toast was crunchy, tomatoes were fresh and the avocado was mixed perfectly with salt and pepper. Our first experience with Metro Diner and it was amazing! We had the Biscuits and Sausage, and the Eggs Benedict Florentine (which had crab cakes). The breakfast was sublime and served very hot. The eggs cooked perfectly, cheese grits were the creamiest, and the Broccoli Chedder soup was full of broccoli. Prices are so reasonable for the amount and quantity of food. Our server, Emily M. was attentive, pleasant, and extremely helpful. The manager, Selena, checked on us, and was so very friendly. Would give it 6 stars of we could!!! We will be back. read more

We ordered the pot roast and steak tips. Both meals were quick and very good. I had the steak tips and ate everything, which is rare! The mushroom gravy was tasty and reminded me of what my grandmother used to make. Katelyn is a GREAT server! She is very attentive to her tables. Always watered down food! From salads to soup the food just has no real flavor or homemade taste. Lettuce in a salad was fresh but only lettuce and nothing else. That's not a salad. Burger was good but again week on the condiments. Had to ask for more pickles and onions and they brought me 2 of each?? Chicken pot pie had no ingredients in it just breading. My kind of place! Walk in off the street, order, and get a good heaping pile of food. No one's trying to show off, just come in as is, grab a seat and eat a hearty meal. A lot of good old country comfort food, and I haven't had a single item I haven't enjoyed. Get yourself some fried chicken or a helping a pot roast. You really can't make a bad choice. At Metro Diner in Casselberry, Suriya's serving up more than eggs, she offers an unmatched hospitality seldom found in today's world, punctuated by cheer, conscientiousness, pride, and great attentiveness. Suriya lovingly refilled coffees, brought out beautifully garnished cups of hot water, and made sure we had everything we needed...right down to extra dressing and to go containers (the best health clubs and resorts don't even compare).
