We had never been but after reading reviews, we had to try it. What drew us the most was their varied menu options. They serve pita chips and olive oil with zatar on the side as the "free appetizer"; the equivalent of chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. The pita chips were so tasty and zesty. I ordered the spicy Alfredo noodles with breaded chicken and wow.. was it delicious. So glad I got it. Next time I'll have to try the mango chicken because everyone raves about it. Our waiter was a Colombian friendly guy that was able to recommend several items. Very attentive. We came a day before Valentine's Day. The waiter also let us know the Valentine's Day special would include a full course meal for two for $120 dollars. This place never fails me; but somehow, I always forget about this place. I met up with a friend here for dinner on a Saturday night, and once I walked in, I realized that they had remodeled the place. Not only did they change their name from Cafe Mezza to Mezza Grille, but they also made the setting more formal. They removed all the booths and replaced the entire dining area with tables and chairs with plenty of space in between, and the menus were nicer. My favorite menu item, the shish tawook, was still listed (YES!) so I was happy. They also still provide complimentary pita chips; however, we had to keep asking for more because they didn't give much each time. :-/ I ended up ordering a salad and replacing the beef skewers with the shish tawook skewers. Best combo ever! A bowl of refreshing veggies and delicious grilled chicken was perfect - flavor, freshness, and portion size. It wasn't loud/crowded that night so I thought the ambiance was perfect. For dessert, we ordered the coconut tres leches and tiramisu, and they were both very good. I expected the tres leches to be very sweet but the amount of sweetness was perfect, and I expected the coffee flavor to be quite strong in the tiramisu but it was good as well. Both were very light. If I had to pick one dessert, I would suggest the coconut tres leches. We were told that the bread pudding was the most popular dessert there so if you're into that, go for it. My friends were craving Mediterranean and we were opting for either Mezza or Fadi's and I made the executive decision for us to dine here since it was slightly more conveniently located. Initial impression - this place feels very chain-like. Very commercial. Good and attentive service. We were seated and attended to fairly quickly and received some complimentary thin pita-like crisps with a herbed olive olive dipping sauce. Our orders were promptly taken and I settled on the falafel appetizer, not being particularly hungry at that moment. My friends ordered a falafel wrap, tabouli appetizer, and a kebob plate. The tabouli was less than stellar - way too much parsley, almost no bulgur. And a little too citrus? So if you like parsley, this is the tabouli for you, for me, not so much! I was a little overwhelmed when my falafel appetizer arrived - whoah massive (photo included above). As for the falefels themselves, definitely not the best ever. They were a bit over-fried, almost bordering on burnt, but tolerable. The hummus was decent, but I've had better. The pita bread was also kind of subpar - no pockets! Just thick rounds of pita bread that didn't seem too freshly made in the least - I demand pockets in my pita bread! I will say it was nice to have ample leftovers in my case . . . My friends ate their food without much complaint but the overall consensus was that Mezza was just acceptable and probably not worth revisiting. read more

Love this place! I love the mango chicken. It's not gluten free but I make the exception now and then. I've had the salmon and mushroom risotto here too and it's good. I don't like risotto but they actually make it pretty good. Service is so well, I can't remember who we sat with last time but he was exceptional! Great place if you're in the area! You won't find anything else like the mango chicken, trust me! Definitely a place to take people if they want to try something new but delicious! 10/10! My friends and I were looking for a place to have a nice NYE dinner. Mezza Grille was offering a 4 course meal for $120 per couple. The menu looked good and I checked the reviews on Yelp before making a reservation for 4. They surprisingly weren't crowded. We were seated immediately. Our server was really nice and answered our questions. The 4 course meal also came with a glass of wine or champagne. Pre-Dinner: Pita chips with olive oil and herbs. The chips were crispy and already had seasoning on them, but they were really good. I was starving when I sat down, so I was happy to have something to nibble on. Course 1: Mezza Crab Cakes Seriously some of the best crab cakes I have ever had. They were huge (about the size of a large hamburger patty). It came with lemon butter sauce. The sauce was good, but the seasoning on the crab cakes was so flavorful, it didn't really need the sauce. We devoured them up. My friends ordered the Spinach & Artichoke dip. It was really good, but they didn't give us enough chips so we had a lot of dip left over with nothing to dip them in. I suppose we could have asked for more chips, but with more food coming, it was probably best we saved our appetite for the other courses. Course 2: Caesar Salad It's kind of hard to mess up Caesar salad. The bowl it came in was huge! It was more like an entree salad, not a side salad. The dressing was already on the salad, but they did not over do it which was a relief. My friends had the lobster bisque and Mezza salad and enjoyed them both. Course 3: Lemon Butter Chicken with Scalloped Potatoes, Sauteed Spinach, and Asparagus. Where do I start? This entire dish was absolutely delicious! The chicken (3 large tenderloins) was flavorful and tender. The capers gave it a nice flavor. The scalloped potatoes were delicious and the portion was huge. The large spears of asparagus AND a bowl of sauteed spinach?! Yeeees! I love that there was a nice amount of veggies. I don't like to be skimped on my veggies, especially if it's asparagus! Course 4: Coconut Tres Leches Cake If you read through my reviews, you will see how much I LOVE tres leches cake. I've never had it with coconut. One bite and I was in heaven. The piece was enormous! The crunchy coconut shavings mixed with the milk and cake....OMG it was heaven! My mouth is watering as I type (not kidding). The dessert was actually shared so my friend and I had tres leches while my other friends had the chocolate bread pudding. I didn't try any of the bread pudding, but they tore it up so I imagine I would have liked it too. As if all of this food wasn't enough, we were also able to get a glass of wine or champagne with our meal. I had the house pinot grigio and it was good. I only had one glass, but refills were $5 which is pretty reasonable. The cocktail menu looked amazing (lots of cucumber drinks on the menu which I love), but I needed to pace myself since we had a long night ahead of us. Both the service and food was great (I over ate, but it was worth it). Parking isn't an issue either (at least not at the time that we went). I accidentally passed the place up because I didn't see it from the road. I've even shopped in this shopping center and have never noticed it, but I will from now on. The restaurant is super clean and spacious. Everyone is polite and attentive. Mezza could easily be my favorite restaurant at this point. You can never go wrong with the mixed grill but seriously, make sure to add tabouli to your order. I can't wait to go back and will definitely be catering it for my next event. When I got my eggplant dish, my husband and I both agreed I'd probably only be able to eat half, because it was an enormous portion! It's smothered in cheese, so you assume it's heavy, but it was a lot lighter and crunchy in taste. Very good. His fries were awesome! This must be a go-to for a lot of people, because it's been around for quite a while. Came here for a birthday dinner a week ago and I ordered the Mango Stuffed Chicken. I tried the creamy scalloped potatoes first and omg it was sooooo yummy. The chicken was stuffff'd!! I thought the chicken was okay, though. Wasn't amazing but I enjoyed the kick of the mango sauce. My friends ordered pasta and it smelled and looked real yummy. I do plan to come back to try the pasta and of course have the creamy scalloped potatoes for my sides. It was a pretty big dish so I think the price was fair. I was looking through yelp as to what was recommended at this place and I saw a couple reviews bashing this restaurant. I wholeheartedly disagree with everything they said about this restaurant. The service was superb. Our waiter Alex was very cool and personable, it made our dining experience THAT much better. We started with the crab cake appetizer which was 2 large cakes. It was a standard crab cake not bad if you're craving for some. Next we had the Shish Tawook Skewers which came with white or black currant rice, I couldn't decide so I went with Alex's (our waiter) suggestion which was the black currant rice. It was perfect along with the best chicken skewers I've had in Houston! The chicken was incredibly moist and when you dip it in the creamy garlic sauce it just makes it that much lighter when you eat it! For me this was 10/10! For dessert we got the coconut tres leches and my. god. this cake was VERY good. I was afraid the coconut would be too overbearing but its actually very subtle and is a nice twist to the classic. It's a huge piece of cake too so make sure you share! Portions here are huge so I'd highly recommend sharing! I will definitely be back for the Shish Tawook Skewers! Went here to celebrate our 10yrs anniversary since we checked trip advisor and yelp and it had great reviews. We ordered fried calamari as appetizer and it was delicious. It was a good serving size, more than expected. I ordered Texas gulf platter & hubby ordered lamb shank. We both enjoyed our main meals, it was delicious. My wife and I went on a Friday night (September 24, 2021). I ordered the mixed grill and my wife ordered the seafood kabob platter. She ordered (at least we thought) the lamb shank but got the seafood platter instead. The waiter just said no and said she ordered the seafood kabob. We didn't fuss. She ate it anyway and said it was good, but she wished she would have received the lamb instead since that is what she wanted. Overall the food was very good. The chicken was excellent, but I ordered the beef medium done, but it was cooked all the way. It was tasty, but would have been better if cooked medium. Pros: very polite service, food options were explained and we were allowed to make adjustments to our entree selections. Food came promptly and looked fantastic! If it was only about the food, Mezza Grille might be a 5-star. We stopped by on a Tuesday evening for dinner and Houston Restaurants Week. Mezza Grille has a mix of Mediterranean, Italian, and New American food. They're located in the same shopping center as The Melting Pot and several other restaurants so parking won't be a problem. Off the HRW menu, I started with the hummus which is served with pita bread. This dish, unlike what was to come, was more of a miss. The hummus didn't have a whole lot of flavor and didn't compare to hummus I've had elsewhere. The next dish, the Mezza salad, didn't disappoint. Mixed greens, apple, carrots, almonds and more. It was delicious! The star of the meal, and their most popular dish was the mango stuffed chicken. It comes with scalloped potatoes and grilled veggies. The veggies were grilled just right so they weren't too chewy or too hard. The chicken was huge! It's stuffed with mango (duh!), cheese, peppers, and beans. A unique dish and it was huge! Also topped with mango. Soooo good! For my dessert, I had the coconut tres leches. I've been on a tres leches tear and had a better one last weekend but this was still pretty good. The service, while efficient and friendly, was too pushy. Over the course of a meal, we were sold on wine specials, if we wanted to add a salad for an additional charge, whether we wanted tea and coffee, whether we wanted dessert, etc. Just too much. The manager is probably training waiters to do this and a softer approach would be better. But we still had a great experience! read more

I recently had a graduation dinner in the private room and could not have been happier with the menu, service, and attention we received. The room was set to our request, with a very attractive table including candles and shimmery table runner. Stephanie was a delight to work with and was so patient with my myriad of questions, as I was planning this from outside of Houston. The food was delicious. We established a very good set menu with Stephanie's recommendations and everything was presented beautifully as well as being the perfect temperature. We chose the Mezza Grille kabobs, Mango Chicken, Lemon Grilled Fish, and grilled vegetable plate as our entree choices. My absolute favorite thing on their menu is the Seafood Campechana, which is a starter, but I could eat it all night as my dinner. We served our guests that and bruschetta upon arrival while guests mingled and had a glass of wine. This is a perfect choice for a private party or gathering where you want a more intimate atmospher, although their restaurant has a lovely ambiance. Their stellar offerings are very well priced and portions are definitely adequate for even the biggest appetite. This place has 5 star dishes for sure, and I highly recommend what I outline below. This is a big lunch place for coworkers of mine, so I first tested this for lunch. For me, given that the lunch and dinner prices are the same, it's a bit pricey. I very much enjoyed their fatoosh salad with chicken, but for the price ($15) it was only a 3 in value. For dinner get the following: Hummus (4.5) - At $7 this is a steal. The portion is huge, and it's extremely creamy and delicious. I don't love the pita they serve it with, so I personally eat a lot of with the chips from the starter. Seafood Campechana (5) - I don't see how this dish can get any better. Jumbo lump crabmeat & grilled shrimp cocktail, spicy lime-pineapple & avocado salsa, homemade tortilla chips sounded so good that we splurged on this $19 appetizer, and have never looked back. It's just spicy enough, but I'm super sensitive to heat, so if it's good for me, I very much assume it'll be good for most people. Don't miss out on this. Mango Chicken (5) - OH MY GOD. My boyfriend got this dish based on some recommendations from Yelp, and it is AMAZING. It's one of the absolute best chicken dishes I've ever had, and the portion is huge. We order these 3 dishes and it's more than enough food for 2 people. We leave totally stuffed and content, and neither of us has a small appetite. If you like mango, this is worth every second of waiting and every cent that you'll spend. Do not get... Mediterranean Lamb Shanks (1) - I've come to learn that I'm not the world's biggest fan of lamb shanks overall, but the broth on this dish the one time I got it made it inedible. I literally had maybe 3-5 bites and then could not stomach any more of it. The mango chicken was luckily large enough that my boyfriend gave me a sizeable piece to hold me over, but I would definitely not recommend this dish personally. Happy hour (4/5) - I really like their happy hour. It's bar area only, but it looks like it's 7 days a week from 4-7, although I've only gone after work. Wine is $6 glass and cocktails are $7. They have some great apps that are sizeable enough to share, easily justifying the few extra dollars they cost compared to some other happy hours. This is always on my list of galleria happy hour ideas. The service has always been a 5. They are super attentive without being annoying, and all the servers we have had genuinely seem like good people. Atmosphere wise this place is not amazing for a date night as it's mostly one big open room aside from the bar area, but the good dishes are certainly worth it. Also absolutely love the sizable lot in front, guaranteeing you have a free place to park. We have added this place into our rotation, and we're so glad we found it. read more
