I came here with my significant other after taking a board exam to celebrate, and it was the best decision I could have made! I had wanted to come here earlier this year for my birthday, as I was in the area, but they were unfortunately closed. So glad I was able to try again. There was plenty of seating when we came here around 5:30 on a Wednesday. We were seated immediately and served with water and pita chips. The pita chip serving size was small, but they were some of the best I've ever had! I ordered the mango stuffed chicken, and my partner ordered the lemon better chicken. It took a bit of time for the food to come out, but not so long that we were getting impatient. When it did arrive, my jaw actually dropped! The entrees, like the house chips, were prepared to be much more fancy than I was expecting. My partner and I agreed that it was some of the best chicken we had ever had--crispy and breaded on the outside, and not one dry area inside. We also really loved the scalloped potatoes, which were finely sliced. Our service was amazing too! While it is a tad more expensive than other Mediterranean restaurants we have been to, it was well worth the price. I can't say that for many restaurants! read more

I arrived here purely by accident boy am I glad. First the place is brightly lit and has a hug bar in the middle of the restaurant, open kitchen you can see everything is going on in there. They also has patio seating which is very nice. The parking is very easy to access. I order off their HRW menu three course meal at the great price. The French goat cheese appetizer is enough to feed at least four people. The chick tortilla soup has lots of Latin spices and the broth is delicious. Then there come the star of the show, the mix kabob plate. Which is Kaufta and beef and chicken kabobs. Wow wow.... the rice and the grill vegetable which is great. The dessert was icing on the cake. It was one of those experiences where your mouth thinks you're in a plush 5 star restaurant, but sitting in a diner type booth. The interior is clean and all, but not was fancy. On the way out of town - wanted to catch a good place nearby - the reviews looked solid enough. So in we came! Nice open feel to the restaurant. Good color scheme, nice lines. Maybe a couple of things to break up the space a little would be good. But they are on the right track. The gratis appetizer - a kind of seasoned pita chip with an oil/"Zata" dipping thing going on - those were so tasty and I really could have just made a meal out of that. The Yelp! Reviewers were saying a lot of good things about the Mango Chicken so I followed the crowd - and I am SO glad. What a wonderful meal it was! The chicken breast was tender but had this golden brown crust that was cooked just right. Terrific flavor. The inside was filled with a vegetable based stuffing and the whole thing was drizzled with bits of mango and a mango sauce that added just the right amount of sweetness. The flavors were so well balanced all the way throughout. Just wonderfully done! Accompanying the chicken were some scalloped potatoes and roasted veggies - carrots and zucchini - which were perfectly cooked and judiciously seasoned. We had a group work luncheon and it was my first time dining here. I thought the decor was nice and so was the staff. The menu listed a great variety of Mediterranean food along with salads, pasta, and various entrees and pizzas. They even had something for vegetarians. We ordered the hummus for appetizers to share. I liked the hummus as it was accompanied by hot warm pita bread. You really can't go wrong with hummus anywhere. For my entree, I ordered the lemon butter fish & shrimp platter. It came with scalloped potatoes & grilled vegetables and the fish was topped with mushrooms/onions/artichoke. The fish was perfectly cooked and very tasty along with the good portion of shrimp. The scalloped potatoes are probably the best I have ever had anywhere. If you're looking for a nice place for lunch, this is the place to go. I am not sure what it's call but it's tasty. I ordered the chicken kabob plate, and I asked to try the lemon butter sauce so the waitress got a small portion for me as well. I thought the chicken kabobs were very sweet even with the garlic sauce. I'm not a fan of sweet chicken, but the kabos were moist. However, it goes very well with the lemon butter. I think they should definitely try lemon butter kabobs as it would be really good. The rice was ok, not anything too special. As for the restaurant and service, it was a classy and nice restaurant. What a quaint place. I love the choice of music tonight. I think i will come back for their Valentines package. A drink and two meals were $50 plus tip. This is not so bad. The waiter is super attentive and punctual. The $10 drink for pineapple rum is not exorbitant and unheard of; however it needs a bit more authenticity then just rum and juice. The spicy lamb and rice dish is well spiced and cooked. I like it. I hope they offer more choices in term of spiciness for the dish. The crushed parmesan chicken pastas is also good. I have mixed feelings about Cafe Mezza. The food was excellent and very good value however the service was terrible. Despite the place being half full, we were seated at 7 pm and the waiter didn't take our order until 7:40 pm. It then took 30 minutes to receive our appetizer plate of hummus and baba ganoosh, and that was only because we flagged down another waiter to help us get our food. My husband and I shared the kofta kebab plate (skewered ground beef) and it was extremely flavorful. We loved the accompanying garlic sauce and cinnamon rice. I will probably give Cafe Mezza one more try because our food was truly wonderful. Hopefully the lack of service we experienced was a glitch. read more

There is plenty of parking available. The happy hour is daily from 3pm-6pm in the bar, lounge, and patio. The bartender was very friendly and checked on me frequently. Nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon? Let's have dinner and cocktails! I'm not sure if I'm the only person who has this logic but if you don't you probably should. My friend and I stopped by Mezza Grill and I must say this place is definitely a hidden gem. Let's not waste any time, here are my thoughts on Mezza Grille and Restaurant. Food They had a little bit of everything -- seafood, pasta, sandwiches, etc. With that being said, I think even the pickiest of eaters should be able to find something they like. For starters we had the spinach dip which was tasty! If you love spinach dip I suggest you give the one at Mezza Grille a try. I had the eggplant parmigiana which was delicious. The eggplant had mozzarella cheese and was topped with breadcrumbs -- delightful! It came with a side of asparagus and pasta (with red sauce) and initially I was concerned it would be a bit bland but it wasn't. We also tried the salmon which came with diced mango and peppers, a side of spinach, and rice with mushrooms. I've tried a ton of salmon in my day and although this one wasn't the best, the mango gave it a nice kick. Also, their portions are huge!  Cocktails I only had one drink so I definitely had to make it a good one. I decided to try the Sour Apple Martini which was sweet and strong. I have a pretty high tolerance for alcohol so it didn't give me much  of a buzz. But, if you're not much of a drinker this may be perfect for you. Life I loved the ambiance of this place -- its so spacious and nicely decorated! You can either eat at the bar or at a table. I wore a cute top and satin palazzo pants and felt comfortable. Some of the other guests were much more casual, but if you're looking for a romantic dinner place this could be it. There were some couples with smaller children so if you and your lover want a romantic date but cant find a baby sitter I definitely think this is a good option. Ladies, you can wear a cute (but sexy/fun/flirty) blouse with jeans and feel like you're dressed appropriately.  If you make it over to Mezza Grille drop a line in the comments and tell me about your experience. Pick 3 appetizer was new to me, but I really enjoyed it! Everything was fresh and smelled amazing. I got the red pepper dip, bruschetta, and tabbouleh. My first vegetarian dinner in a VERY long time. I loved the mint and parsley flavor in the tabbouleh, and the bruschetta had a wonderful texture. Not too crunchy and not too hard. It went very well with the other dishes. Tried this place last night. The food was really good - best I've had in a long time. I had the mango chicken - it was amazing. The chicken was perfectly cooked and covered in a really tasty glaze. It was crispy where it should be and soft and juicy in the middle. And the scalloped potatoes - WOW - they were rich and creamy - never have I ever had such perfectly cooked potatoes. The deserts were not great. I wouldn't waste my money or time on them. The service was good but slower than I thought it should have been. It took us 2 hours from start to finish. We had the time though. The appetizer and main course more than made up for any other shortcoming. read more

What a great find here on Yelp! Met my husband for lunch spur of the moment and so glad I happened upon this. They come to the table with chips and some sort of olive oil dip. They have a diverse lunch menu to please any appetite. We ordered the lunch trio: a beef tenderloin taco, chicken Acapulco and mezza salad along with the blackened fish. The beef tenderloin taco was super tender! Absolutely delicious. The chicken Acapulco was very light and flavorful. The dressing for the salad was creamy and busting with flavor. Mezza is my favorite Houston hidden gem. It somehow provides affordable options without compromising on the quality of the meals or service. I believe this restaurant is family owned and you can feel the warmth that comes with that upon setting foot in the restaurant. The only problem I come across is picking a dish. Some of my favorites include the filet chunks, the lamb chops, the stuffed chicken, the shwarma, and the pastas. There is also a full service bar on the side of the restaurant. The dessert menu changes from time to time but there's a reason the bread pudding and tres leches consistently stay on the menu (they're both amazing). My favorite part is that you can enjoy a pot of tea with your dessert. read more
