4.5 stars I first tried Mian when they had their location in Las Vegas (with free mung bean soup!). I finally got a chance to try this location in South Coast Plaza. There was no wait for a party of two to be seated on a Saturday around 1:30PM. The interior is not that large but there are a good number of tables and the decorations are beautiful. Service was fine but minimal due to ordering via QR code. They have combination deals where you choose an appetizer, noodle dish, and beverage for $20-25 + tax, a pretty good deal. We tried two such combos and enjoyed the crispy cucumbers, golden soup wontons, hot and sour noodles, and spicy intestine noodles. We ordered passionfruit green tea and mung bean soup as our drinks. The food came out promptly. All of the food was tasty with generous portions. The golden soup has the tastiest broth in my opinion, and the mung bean soup was super refreshing. You can't go wrong with Mian for an affordable and tasty meal!
Came for their Combo set deal and it was very filling! The potions are great if you're looking to share between two people and don't want to get exceptionally full. If you order the combo for yourself, you will definitely feel very satisfied. Beef Noodle Soup (8.5/10) Not very spicy, great noodle texture, and balanced broth. This is a great beginner beef noodle soup due to the rich flavors, tender beef pieces, and mild spice. Spicy dumping (6.5/10) Love the garlic flavor and chillies that compliment the dumplings well! However the wrapper was a tad too thick and the filling felt like it was missing something. Beef Roll Pancake (7.5/10) Great flakey texture from the pancake and wrapped tightly into a roll. I definitely enjoyed the balance of cucumber and onions. The sauce used was a tad sweet in my opinion. The service was fast and using the table QR code to check out made the experience accurate and efficient. I enjoyed that there were photos on the ordering page so you can see the dishes! I appreciated the servers for coming to check in with us frequently.
We had dinner here the other night. It is located inside South Coast Plaza on the level below Din Tai. So there is ample parking. The restaurant itself is charming and has a fun vibe. We both got the $25.99 Signature Combo. You get your choice of drink, an appetizer and one of the signature bowl of noodles. For an extra $3 you can add a dessert. We got the brown sugar ginger tea and the passionfruit green tea. Both were so refreshing and tasty. For our appetizers we got the chili oil dumplings. We loved the flavor and the heat on the dumplings. The dumplings themselves were soft and filled with pork. We got the spicy sparerib noodles. I loved the bok choy. The noodles were fresh and bouncy. The meat fell off the sparerib bones. The broth was rich, warm and delicious. For dessert we got the brown sugar rice cakes. Soft, sticky mochi texture and the brown sugar was the right amount of sweetness. The pumpkin cakes were soft and delicious. I loved the grated coconut on top. In addition to the signature combo, we added spicy cucumbers. They were crispy and just the right amount of heat. The vegetable fried rice was delicious and so flavorful that we ate all of it. We also got a cold combo with seaweed salad, wooden mushrooms and beef. It was perfect to break up some of heat from the noodles and dumplings. Wonderful service and large portions will make this your new soup noodle spot.
So I heard this is a Michelin awarded restaurant here in Costa Mesa. Being at South Coast Plaza I thought it was a treat since I was doing a little shopping in the neighborhood. I decided to order the combo which was 25.99 which included boba milk tea, spicy beef noodles, and chili oil dumplings. With the combo, you could've chosen other types of combos. I was told the one I ordered was the most popular. The dishes were seasoned beautifully with a slightly spicy taste. The noodles were delicious with immense flavor. The beef, I have to say, was so tender and juicy. The dumplings were soft, squishy, and had the best chili oil sauce I've ever had. It's worth the price and worth checking out sometime.
Unique food options that really expanded my palette, authentic Sichuan taste that's one of a kind, plus the mango smoothie and beef noodles were a hit. Welcoming, family-friendly service. The interior design of this restaurant is beautiful and it's the perfect place to bring your family and get some good eats after shopping since it is in the shopping center.
Came here for the all you can eat for $30 OC Restaurant Week deal. True to their word, everything on the menu was fair game (except soft drinks which is $5 more). I ordered all the popular items such as Beef Roll Pancake, Shrimp Fried Rice, Mapo Tofu Noodles, Steamed Egg Pork, Pork Shrimp Fried Dumpling, etc. The dishes were delicious and my mouth had the spicy zing feeling after eating sichuan spices. My favorites were the Mapo Tofu, Fried Dumplings, and Beef Roll Pancake which were all delicious and had a premier flavor. The fried rice could've used more flavor, which is why it's best accompanied by chili oil. Great food overall for a limited time deal.
We tried Mian during OC restaurant week and took advantage of the $30 all you can eat special they offered. The all you can eat included full portioned dishes, anything on the menu. If you wanted unlimited drinks it was an extra $5, which was totally worth it! Food- 8/10. Food was yummy! I loved being able to have all you can eat so we could try many dishes. I loved the cucumbers and dumplings. The rice was a little bland but had a lot of shrimp! The drinks were good, but I wish there was a little extra sweetness to them. Service- 10/10. Everyone was so kind and helpful! Carroll was great and helped us with everything! Restaurant- 9/10. The restaurant had a lot of seating! They had sit down and to-go options. They also had a viewing area where they made the food, which was cool. The restaurant was clean and organized. It's in the South Coast Mall, so there are lots of shops around and parking. We went at 3:30pm and there was no wait.
Ok we are officially pigs. We did the all you can eat Mian OC Restaurant Week. Started strong with the Mian Cold noodle combo, steamed egg with minced pork, sesame balls, chili oil Chão shou, hot and sour chao shou, shrimp and pork pot stickers, shrimp fried rice, chicken in chili oil, and beef rib. We are officially stuffed. Definitely come here when you are hungry and in South Coast Plaza. The staff are amazing! It's downstairs from Din Tai Fung. Happy Yelping!
This chain is finally coming to South Coast plaza. Perfect comfort food! I had: 1. Value combo: spicy beef noodles, brown sugar milk tea, chili oil dumplings, pumpkin rice pancake 2. Pickled cucumber 3. Tomato & beef noodles 4. Chicken gizzard noodles 5. Mango boba light milk 6. Fried Chinese donuts with sweet soy milk - simple yet so delicious!

Great Mian store inside of South Coast mall. Located on First floor. Smaller store but we came around 7-8 PM when they were close to closing so there was not many people. We have been to their other store locations and loved their high quality authentic noodles. We ordered one of the set meals which included the Zhajiang noodles, one side dish (we chose woodear 木耳) and a drink (we chose green tea lemonade). We also ordered the zhajiang with rice noodles and the Huaxing Egg noodles (soup dish). The zhajiang is one of our favorites, good flavor and comes with an egg and vegetables. Rice noodles can be harder to find so it's nice that they offer the option to customize. The woodear appetizer was fresh and had a nice seasoning, small portion. Huaxing Egg had a nicely cooked egg and good soup. Tastes like Chengdu! Green tea lemonade was solid too, not too sweet. Pretty affordable, and nicely maintained location with good service. Parking was not too bad either, but we came at an off hour. read more

Can we take some time to appreciate how great this noodle soup looks? Gorgeous. My boyfriend and I were brought here because we saw this place on Instagram. The noodles looked so good, so we had to make a visit. This restaurant is located in the South Coast Plaza, so we expected it to be a little busy. Luckily, we were seated quickly and met with outstanding service! I wish I got our waitresses name. She was so attentive, welcoming, and helpful when we were deciding on how spicy we wanted our noodle soup. She suggested that we ordered it mild and she can just bring more chili oil if we wanted it to be more spicy. No additional spice was needed though. It was perfection. I still think about these noodles and can't wait to go back. They have meal deals that are totally worth trying! I ordered the spicy beef noodles with a side of spicy dumplings and a passion fruit tea for just $25!!! Likewise, my boyfriend ordered a similar meal deal-- the spicy beef noodles with a katsu cutlet on the side and Diet Coke. It was a very satisfying meal. read more

I had a good experience overall. The food was tasty--especially the noodles, which were served super hot (I did burn my tongue, so be careful!). They were really soft and flavorful. The chili oil wontons were definitely my favorite dish--so good! Service was okay. Our waiter forgot our drink and didn't bring it until we asked, but once we did, they got it right away. The interior was clean and the overall vibe was nice. I'd come back for the food for sure. read more

Great experience! Our group got Combo B. My order was spicy beef noodles, chili oil dumplings (favorite!), and brown sugar milk tea. The beef in the spicy noodles were so soft, melted in my mouth! Great dish. My favorite from this meal was the chili oil dumplings! Had a slight sweetness to it which was very interesting to the chili oil flavor combo! Washed it all down with the brown sugar milk tea (not pictured). Not too sweet and just right to combat the flavors of the other dishes. Setting of this restaurant was nice! Great decorations to look at while dining. The servers were very helpful and attended to our table multiple times. Great experience overall! read more

I love coming to this place for their spicy beef rib soup noodles, it has such an authentic Chinese flavor. I also really enjoy their drinks; you can actually taste the tea, which I appreciate. I like that they use a scan-to-order system, which feels modern and makes the ordering process very efficient. I'll definitely keep coming back whenever we're in South Coast Plaza. read more

10/10 I really couldn't believe how delicious the food here was!! I'm skeptical of "mall" food, but this restaurant blew me away!! We came in on a Friday for their $25 lunch special - we got a drink, appetizer, noodle dish for $25 and added dessert for an extra $3!! This deal is amazing!! Aside from the price, the appetizers were so good! The beef noodle soup was such a highlight for me!! So much flavor packed into this soup! It came out piping hot and lots of meat as well!! This place was delicious. I love sichuan mala spicy food in general and this place hits the spot! The food came out nice and hot and the numbing spice was so tasty. The flavors were fantastic! I prefer the mapo tofu noodles over the beef noodle soup. Probably because I don't think I can find mapo tofu noodles like this anywhere else. I got both noodles at spicy level 3 (the spiciest level) and I think that the mapo tofu was way spicier than the beef noodle soup despite it being the same spicy level. Both were great, but I'll definitely be ordering the mapo tofu noodles next time. Service was solid and the restaurant was nice and clean. You order online by QR code and the food comes promptly. We came in right before last call and they were able to get us situated and fed quickly. Overall this place was great. read more

Always walk by this place and decided to walk in today. Ordered their mapo tofu noodle mild spice and it was really good. The flavors were well balanced. It's a different kind of spice here, more of the "mala"'spice. So if you can't handle heat, make sure you ask about spice level. We arrived 20 minutes before closing so had to place order quickly as kitchen closes 15 minutes before closing. We ordered a braised beef noodle soup with level 3 spicy, and Mapo tofu noodle with level 3 spicy. Both were very flavorful and the spice was totally bearable for me. The Mapo tofu noodle felt spicier than the noodle soup. We also pre-ordered a serving of extra noodles and split between the two bowls. There was enough content and flavor in both bowls to accommodate the additional noodles. Service was no nonsense. We didn't really need anything and couldn't order anything extra since kitchen was closed. Overall a very quick and tasty meal. read more
I took my kids to Mian for a little noodle outing, and they absolutely loved their spicy beef noodle soup. I ordered the Ma Po Tofu noodles and, in true "learned the hard way" fashion, went with very spicy and unfortunately my mouth went numb faster than some of my past relationships. I ended up taking most of it home to tone it down, but the flavor was excellent. The dumplings and cucumbers were also delicious and perfectly balanced the heat. Overall, the food was flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. I'll definitely be back but I'm just ordering it regular spicy next time. read more
The wait had a long line for lunch. We were able to get seated quickly and skip the line because nobody wanted the bar seating. That was a good way of getting people in and clearing the line. The clear broth was great and not too heavy. It was the right amount so you wouldn't be too full. The broth was full of flavor. I've seen this place on TikTok and family and friends recommended this place to me! I'm extremely satisfied that I came to try. Got a table quick. You scan the QR code on the table and order from there. My phone service wasn't working, so I ordered on my sister phone. I think you can order with someone if your doesn't work at the restaurant. I got combo A. - Seaweed salad 10/10. - Chengdu zijiang noodles 9/10. - Passion fruit drink 8/10. My sister got combo B. - spicy beef noodles 10/10 - chili oil dumplings. Overall (3.5/5) This was my first time ever actually eating here, and I left pretty impressed overall. A few hiccups aside, the food itself really stood out. First Impressions (4/5) This was my first visit. I had always heard about this place because when I visited UCLA, they sometimes had this in the dining hall, and it was decent back then. The location is right next to Marugame, which I never really gave much thought to before, but once I finally tried this spot, I was surprised that there are two really solid noodle places sitting right next to each other in the same mall. What We Got (4/5) I ordered the spicy braised beef noodle soup for $17 on January 9, 2026. My friends ordered the mapo tofu and the spicy chili dumplings. Everything came out looking good and well portioned. Taste and Quality (4.5/5) The food honestly wowed me. The broth in the beef noodle soup was rich and flavorful, the meat was very soft, and the noodles had a nice chewy texture. The mapo tofu and spicy chili dumplings were also really good. Nothing tasted cheap or watered down. The flavors were bold, and we ordered everything at a medium spice level, which still had a noticeable Sichuan kick without being overwhelming. Service (3.5/5) The staff was genuinely nice and helpful. The main issue was ordering. Since the restaurant is on the bottom floor of South Coast Plaza and under several stores, there was no internet connection. We were told to order through QR codes, but none of our phones could connect at first. We had Verizon, T Mobile, and AT&T, so it was not a carrier issue. Eventually one phone barely got through, but it was a bit frustrating. Space and Atmosphere (4/5) The space is big, bright, and spacious, which I did not expect. Before this visit, I honestly never even looked inside, but now I am glad I did. It feels comfortable for groups and does not feel cramped. Was It Worth It (3/5) The $17 price for a bowl was a little hard to swallow. The quality is there, but it is still on the higher side for noodle soup, especially if you plan to add sides. Final Thoughts (4/5) This place is great for people who like bold flavors and hearty noodle dishes. Despite the ordering issue and the price, I would come back, especially when I am already at South Coast and craving something filling and flavorful. /5 read more
We enjoyed our lunch here. It's a little hard figuring out how the ordering process worked but we eventually got it. There's a QR code to scan at your table. This allows you to check out the menu, select your food, and send the order to the kitchen. Every table QR is unique to that table so they know where the food is to go. Everyone at your table that scans the same QR will be able to send their order to the kitchen. The only draw back was it can get really loud in there. Food was fairly good and unique. FYI - I saw the place mat describing the mung bean soup as a hot beverage but it actually comes cold. It tasted like a sweet tea. read more
