The food was good. Service was prompt. The ambiance was busy but nice. I ordered the turkey burger, but requested it to be made gluten-free, as they explained they could make the burgers with a gluten-free bun. My grandmother ordered the same burger (not gluten-free). When our orders came out, her bun looked like the bun on my burger, which made me question. So to be sure, I just went and asked if it was made gluten-free as I requested. They seemed confused, but took my plate and told me they will make it gluten-free. Now I was confused because I had a whole conversation about the gluten-free options and was even brought a gluten-free menu that I ordered from. When they brought out my burger the second time, it had a much different bun than the one my grandmother had and they reassured me it was gluten-free. Needless to say, if you have Celiac's or a gluten intolerance, either avoid this restaurant completely or triple-check that your order will come out gluten-free. Was very excited to come here and eat some good southern food! First, when you walk inside, you would place your order and pay. Then you proceed to seat yourself, and they bring out the food to you. Very easy in theory but then because of that the tables are not super clean due to the bussers really just taking the dirty dishes to the back only. My table still had a lot of crumbs all over and sticky spots. The employees were friendly and polite. I do like that I can grab my own drinks, to go boxes, etc. Now the food! I ordered the onion rings, fried pickles, and Buffalo wings as starters. The onion rings were good but not exceptional. The fried pickles and the wings though we very good! Loved the breading on the fried pickles and the wings had a light breading to it before sauced so had a good crunch. I also tried both the chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak to compare. I preferred the chicken over the steak but my s/o preferred the steak so it is really preference. They both had a good flavor and texture with plenty of gravy so recommend! However, both were a tad too salty. The steak being more salty than the chicken. Not sure if it was just today or if it's always like that. The side dishes were underwhelming. Cream corn tasted like from a can. Mac & cheese tasted under seasoned. Beans had good flavor but also tasted like it was from a can. The soft serve ice cream on the way out was a good touch! I've been a fan of Mia's table for the last few years going to the location off Kirby, so I was really excited to hear then a new location was opening down the street from where I work in Memorial City. Despite being open for 3 days already I finally made the 15 minute walk to meet a friend for lunch. We would have gone Monday but he had to reschedule Needless to say this place did not disappoint. I had the chicken fried steak with green beans and macaroni and cheese. Not only was it a giant serving for less than $20 but it was delicious as well. The green beans really made the whole dish healthier, or at least that's what I'm telling myself. The jalapeno gravy wasn't quite as spicy here as the Kirby location but that's okay, maybe they're still trying to figure it out. I wouldn't mind if they kicked it up just a notch. I was a little concerned they wouldn't have their complementary soft serve ice cream during this time of Covid. First of all... I'm so glad I gave this new location a chance. I'm a huge fan of southern comfort food and this is exactly that! Big portions, great flavors, perfectly fried chicken and the jalapeño gravy was the perfect topping. I usually start to explain that the sides aren't as good but this is not the case. We had Father's Day dinner this evening. Mia's is a walk up order style restaurant. They bring the food to you. They offer burgers, sandwiches, ribs, salads and more. I had the chicken fried chicken with coleslaw and fries. Dad ordered the ribs with coleslaw and onion rings. Both plates were loaded with more food than we could eat. My chicken fried chicken was delicious! The chicken was tender and the jalapeño gravy was tasty. Dad's ribs were fantastic too. He gets the same thing every time. The restaurant is fairly large with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a little loud when the crowd is heavy. It was quite warm inside, but to be fair, we were sitting in the booth right by the patio door that seemed to never stay closed long. It was very hot today in Houston, Texas! Its not a restaurant I can fully comment on service since the only interaction is when ordering and when food is delivered. You get your own drinks and if you need anything after the food arrives, you have to get up and get it yourself. No one really comes to check on tables. They have complimentary ice cream. I did not have any since I'm not a big fan of sweets. $49.35 for 2 meals. It's a good place to gather and eat. I would prefer a little more hands on service, but it seems many new trendy restaurants are going this direction. A big disappointment today. Chicken fried steak was about half the size of the one served at the Upper Kirby location, and it was almost burned, very little gravy provided. Hamburger was undercooked, had to send it back, but it still was not very good. Catfish was ok. The staff members were nice. I don't know why we went to this location when the Upper Kirby one is so much better, but I was thinking they should all be the same. read more

Mia's have been consistently a great spot to eat at during the week. They have various options that will cater to your potential food mood of the day. So far, I've had the opportunity to experience the chicken fried Steak, Patty Melt, and fried pickles...Believe it or not, the fried pickles are my favorite item. It seems as if they've put so much effort into the seasoning of the batter that they fry the pickles in...I don't understand how I can enjoy a freakin fried pickle so much. When I wait in line to order and then have to pick up my food I don't understand why they are asking for a tip. The young man at the register literally asked me to tip. I've always been a generous tipper. I especially tip well when I have excellent service or even just really good service. However, when you visit a self-serve restaurant, I don't understand the need to tip. I certainly don't mind leaving a dollar or two on the table for the bus boy/girl. Nowadays every location we go to is asking for extra including restaurants, department stores, grocery stores, etc. it goes on and on and on.
