Sometimes their selection can be limited and don't come here if you are trying to find fabric because they don't carry any. They just pretty much have the basic crafting needs (jewelry making, scrapbooking, knitting/crocheting, fake floral arrangements etc.). Michael's consistently has sales and usually sends out various coupons (ranging from 20-50% off). I usually come to this store when I just need to pick up something quick and I know Michael's carries what I need. Beware they tend to run out of stock often and it doesn't get replenished right away. read more

Ive been in the store 7 different times to purchase items for my wedding invitations. Sure enough every single time has been a disappointment. The employees are rude and have no knowledge of their products and which they have on sale and which they don't. The most recent visit, I brought along with me in my purse a sample of the ribbon I had purchased before just to find one like it. When I went to check out the clerk asked accused me of stealing the ribbon i had brought with me after I set a basket full of ribbon on the counter. These people don't care about loyal customers, and are a bunch of punk kids who are burn outs. People come to a craft store to purchase thing they want to do as hobbies for fun. This environment is discouraging to all crafters out there. read more

Located in the busiest corner of the District in Tustin, this Michael's is situated to get a lot of traffic. I give this location only 3 stars because the store seems really disorganized. I do a lot of craft projects (knitting, beads, cooking) and this store is essential. But when I can't find what I'm looking or an item out is always out of stock, I am less inclined to come back. They recently re-did the check out area. There is an actual line for the check out, which will probably help a lot when this place gets busy. read more

Woah. This place is huge! I came here looking for cute door decorations and yep, I found them. I wanted to just wander the isles and look at all the crafts supplies they had here. It's amazing! Everything is super nice and tidy, and the place is kept very clean. Unless something goes on sale (in which case they're always out of that product), everything is well-stocked. Prices here are a bit expensive, and it's hard to find an employee to help you look for stuff in this huge warehouse. However, I don't mind just walking through the isles. I don't mind coming back for supplies. The only bad thing is that this place is located in The District. It's a horrid place to drive around in and near. read more

I have been going to this store out of convenience. Although associates never ask if I need any help, I never had any problems here. When I returned to make another purchase, I had asked the cashier (Lexi) if they sold thread by the big spools. This was her response, (staring me down): "I don't know. I'm not sure. Why don't you go ask them." Really? Is that how you treat your customers? I was so shocked that I did not even bother to call management. After I got home, I kept having the feeling that there was a sour note in my mouth and told my husband and mother-in-law what had happened. They could not believe what I just told them. They agreed that I needed to notify management to prevent future happenings like this. So I called the store manager and explained what had happened. She was shocked herself. She apologized on behalf of the store and offered me a 20% discount on my next full-priced purchase, but I cringe every time I drive by this particular store. I don't even know if I want to walk in there again, discount or no discount. What a shame, it was very convenient for me to go to this location. read more

I wouldn't recommend doing curbside pickup here. If I would have known how annoying it would have been I would have just paid the shipping. I don't mind waiting in my car I could just hang out on my phone but when I got there you have to call to let them know you're there and the phone rang and rang it took 10 minutes for them to answer then someone put me on hold for another 10 minutes so I hung up and called back slightly annoyed got asked rudely for my order number. The guy came quickly but with no apology he just tossed my order in my car and no thank you, no have a nice day, then walked off all attitudey. I'll stick to target pickup, it's super easy on the app and they're friendly and the guy even offered to close my trunk for me and wished me a nice day. Way different experience. Management probably works them to thin here with less people then they need to operate in store but everything is shifting to pickup, they need to add more staff, stop stressing them out. read more

I like coming to Michael's because you can seem to get all of your arts and crafts supplies in one place. They have everything from yarn to ribbon to fake flowers to beads. For a teacher, this is a great place to look for supplies for your classroom. This Michael's is big but the stuff seems disorganized. There were 3 different sections for fake flowers, one in the front, one in the middle, and one in the back. I was also looking for rhinestones and there were some in kids section in a 300 pack but I looked around some more and I found some more rhinestones located on another side of the store. Very little of the items are actually centralized and it seems like you're doing a scavenger hunt every time that you are there. Nonetheless, I found my supplies. It just took a while. read more

This is the only Michael's near my home. This is a heaven for getting arts, crafts, and decorations items. One-stop shop. Place is clean and semi-organized. The 2 negative points are: 1) The line get too long and there's not enough staffs (high peak or low peak) 2) Staffs are unfriendly and don't know what Customer Service is all about. But if you know what you're getting in the store, your fine. read more

Terrible customer service at this location!! I couldn't find anyone to help me and when a girl finally walked by me she said she was too busy!! Isn't that what she is there for...to help her customers? Being a retail manager before, I value customer service. What makes it worse is I wrote a letter to corporate, and they responded about a week later saying I would be receiving a call and they are "so sorry" and would contact me soon. Three weeks later, nothing. They obviously don't value their customers, which is a shame because I haven't shopped in their store since I had to do high school projects. But now I am engaged and wanting to be "crafty." Guess I will check out other places... read more

I am so disappointed I have to write such a review, given the fact that I have grown up buying art supplies from the Michael's (Tustin Location). Its so unfortunate that I had to walk out of this store feeling like I don't ever want to return. I can't believe that the cashiers at this store are so disrespectful. I have purchased so many supplies and having introduced this store to all my teacher friends I feel like I no longer can use this store as my go to art supply store. As an educator I often spend time looking for supplies I can use in my classroom for all my students needs. I am so sad that my experience here was to terrible yesterday ( after looking at some other people's reviews, I can safely say I'm not the only one who feels this way about this store).After looking for a planner for the new school year in which I thought would be an eventful day, given that a new calendar is the fresh start to the new year. I looked at the planners, and after spotting one that I liked proceeded to the checkout line. The first thing that the cashier says to me after looking at the calendar is that these tabs don't come with the calendar, to which I said "I don't really care." She proceeded to loudly state to the the associate that came up that she doesn't think the extra pieces belong to the planner. I was so embarrassed that she felt the need to make everyone hear her. She then pulled on he planner class and took out all the pieces with so much force.As a person of color she sounded like she was insinuating that I added the extra pads to the calendar. I feel so insulted! After asking if there is a teacher discount, I was looked at with a funny glare and then told the calendar was already half off. After asking again how much discount I would receive with the teacher discount I was told 15%, but was never asked if I wanted to apply. The cashier gave me the basic reward with lots of attitude. Then when I showed her the coupons online she gave me the 20% after asking three times. why does Michael's have coupons if your associates are so hesitant to use them)? I finished my transaction and what was supposed to be a positive experience only got worse. My friends battery to her phone died right as we got to the counter. I asked if she wanted to use my phone for coupons and then the cashier said " did you get the I at coupon today?" Long story short, I'm just appalled by the behavior and the customer service that is lacking at this store! I hope that in the future they can help their associates be happier and nicer, maybe even more welcoming and helpful! I am contemplating my entire purchse I would give 0 stars, if I could. read more

I accompanied a female friend here whose profession involved arts and crafts for commercial purposes. She kept me here longer than I liked since there was too much to browse. The staff here constantly walked around, asking us if we were finding everything fine. We encountered three different staff members that asked that and asked if we knew about their email program. Despite this, when we actually needed to see if something was in stock and we pressed the help button repeatedly, no one showed up and we had to wander around to look for a staff member. At least they found the item we were looking for after we requested help... verbally. The prices for certain items are high while some are reasonable. We only purchased the reasonable ones like clearance stickers and whatever materials we needed for our projects that could not be bought elsewhere. During checkout, since our 4G wasn't working very well to download the coupons on their website, they offered to give us the discount anyway. Like other locations in the District plaza, the parking here is horrendous. read more

I came to this store as I was in the area. I went in to see about buying a few frames for some photographs I want to get up on the walls. I was very happy to find several pieces that perfectly fit in the design I created for my home gallery. At the counter, I was greeted warmly by the cashier Luz B. Its wonderful how she made an effort to ask me if I got everything I liked. I asked her about the return policy and walked me through it, even telling me to check out their website for more deals and discounts. I went in the other day to get a gift. When I walked up to the store I saw that all the items they used to have outside were no longer there and I knew that was not a good sign. So I had a reusable bag with me and went in the store. While shopping, several employees kept hovering around me. I really did not think anything of it but it was annoying. So I get in line and I see a woman coming in with a reusable bag. She was approached by a younger gentleman who was the manager and he asked her to take all of her items out of the bag so he could look inside before she went it. I was appalled and shocked. How can you just harass people as they come in? Total invasion of privacy and why would you check someones bag coming in the store? Needless to say I will not be back!!! read more

I called in to ask for cancellation of my order. I was put on hold for 5 mins, then asked to call back in 10 mins or so. I did as I was told and the store manager took the call. She asked for a minute to grab a pencil and was gone for 10 mins. All she needed from me was my first and last name to cancel the order, which only took her 30 seconds to obtain the info. I think it would have been wiser of her if she finished this less than a minute phone call with me instead of tending to in-store situation and coming back to an angry customer. Me+Crafts= total disaster... However, I enjoy being a fake crafter. It's nice to gaze at all the wonderful arts & crafts items and imagine that these two hands could make something great. One commonality among Michael's stores is the smell! It smells great! I don't know if it's the candles or if craft stuff just smells good. My only complaint is the parking. Again, I hate the way the District is designed. The space between the curb outside Michael's and the beginning of the parking lot is like 2' wide! I have about 4 local brick-and-mortar choices for my crafting needs, and I inevitably choose Michael's first over all the others because it's cheaper and it's got everything except fabric. I consider this Michael's location to be the big store as compared to the one out on Irvine Blvd. Lots of floor space and room to walk in this store. Every store has got the same number of items for sale, it's just how that store is organized is what's different between them. When the store on Irvine Blvd is sold out, I make the trek to this one. Terribly SLOW customer service. Me and 20 others waited in line today. There are 8 registers total, but only 2 were open. I saw clerks re-stocking even though the line was long and it's peak season, not to mention peak hours (lunch time). The managers need to step up their customer service and attend to everyone waiting in line. Re-stocking items is NOT a priority, retaining and pleasing your customers IS A PRIORITY. This issue needs to be addressed, this is not the first time I and others have experienced this. Don't assume that people buying crafts have nothing else to do and nowhere else to go. I would give this store ZERO stars if I could. I just had a TERRIBLE experience here and will never return. Let me preface this by saying I've shopped at Michaels for many years, but had never tried this store. I'll never come back. The staff is incompetent. Seriously incompetent. I was trying to get a SIMPLE task done- finding out the price on an item. I saw an employee stroll by slowly, and I politely asked her "excuse me?" Her response- start walking away from me quickly. I followed her, thinking there's a possibility she didn't hear me. At this point she was all but jogging away from me- I had to run to keep up with her. I loudly (put politely) said "Excuse me" twice before she finally turned around. It was nice of her to stop her eyeroll before making eye contact with me. I simply asked for a quick price check, to which she responded, "yeah, you'll have to go up to the registers and wait in line for that." Mmmmmkkkkk.... So I did. And waited. Every SINGLE register had someone working it. Yet only ONE of them was actually helping customers. (This sweet girl was probably in high school, and she is the one exception I saw who was working hard. She looked significantly younger than the rest of the female employees, and her co-workers were were clearly taking advantage of her). Honestly, I was horrified at how poorly these women treated their customers. I waited in line with another customer while these employees stood around laughing and gossiping. Literally. For at least a minute. Then when one of the girls glanced slowly at the line, she played the 'Register number 8, now available' tone. So I walked to register 8. Where she CONTINUED TO IGNORE ME and laugh/chat with the girl next to her. After they finished their story, the girl at register 7 told me she would "just help me." Honestly ladies, there is over 10% unemployment in the state of California. Your actions are appalling. I realize you may not take your job seriously, but there are a lot of people out there looking for work who would do a good job. I highly recommend management clean house. You definitely just lost a customer, and you can bet many more on the way if you don't teach your employees respect. Anyway- to end this essay- just save your time. Shop the Costa Mesa Michaels where they treat you better than dog poop on your shoe. read more

I think this Michael's is great, it seems to have everything I need all the time which is nice, it's a one stop shop! Their sales are pretty good too, the 40% off coupons and buy one get one free sure do help out a lot. They're currently having a sale where there are a LOT of buy one get one free options, it saved me so much money today! The girl who checked me out today was really nice too, I had to make some returns as well as purchase other products and she was very nice and understanding about it. One employee in particular amazed me beyond words...but I will try. Bill works in the framing section and is a complete sweetheart. I told him about a project I had to do for school the last time I was there and he came up with so many ideas! Not only did he help but he did so with a smile and a great attitude. He was so determined to help me and showed me around, I've never met anyone so willing and ready to help. I again went in today and asked him a question about the expressions frames and studio decor on sale, he was very educated on the products. He needs to get promoted up because he is one hell of an employee, both times he has been exceptional. I don't usually pay attention to employee names unless they're outstanding; I made sure to look at his name tag!!!! read more

Luckily another cashier finally came after 20 people in line, and she was more efficient and friendly. I informed her the Yelp ratings were not in their store's favor. Do not get a custom frame job at this store unless you want to wait 6 weeks for it. On 8/12, I dropped off a painting with their custom painting department. We were told it would be ready in 10 days and that they will call us when it's done. We never received a call from the store after 10 days, so we called ourselves on 8/27 (15 days later). We were told that yes, our painting was ready. So our first complaint is, that we never got a call letting us know our painting was ready. So we go in the store on 8/27 and inspect the frame job. And it was just done poorly. There was fragments of paper and foam stuck between the glass and frame and the frame borders themselves were not installed flush. Since we paid a hefty amount for this frame job, we ask the staff to fix it. We were told that that it will be done the next day and they will call us. On 8/29, we received NO call again. So we call towards close of business and were told that we now had to wait until 9/3 or 9/4 since they were not happy with the current frame job. So between 8/29 and 9/7, NOONE CALLED US AGAIN. So we call the store ourselves once more and now we are being told that UPS (apparently they don't even build it themselves) dropped the frame and that our painting is not ready AGAIN! I spoke with Gus the assistant manager and he pleaded with me to give the store another chance to make everything right and I agreed too. He promised that my painting would be done on 9/11 and he would call me on that day. Of course 9/11 rolls by with no call. I finally receive a call on 9/12 at 7:15pm notifying me that my painting was done and that call did not come from Gus either. This will be the last time I ever shop at a Michael's! read more

I'm a frequent shopper at michaels in the district shopping center and go about 1-2 times a week due to being a student studying child development. I have always had the best service there and the workers are fantastic in going out of their way to find something you're looking for which is so awesome! I went in today to get some stuff to make for the little pre schoolers and had the best service until I got to the register where this Asian worker was checking me out, I had made it known to her that I was looking for a coupon that I can use but their website is extremely slow, so she took the next person in like, okay no big deal. As I'm stepping to the side about 15 minutes later AT LEAST try to help me find the coupon so I don't have to waste my time. Left the store with no coupon, and absolutely no help, as a worker, you should be going out of your way to help the customer find what they're looking for, not just stand there. I'm only rating a 2 star because of the service this women gave me, Other than that, they deserve beyond a 5! read more

I wish that stores would stop allowing dogs. I waited about 10 mins in line to pay for my purchase. It was my turn to walk to the checkout counter. As I walked I slipped on dog poop! The cashier did give me spray and paper towels to clean my shoes. My shoes were suede so they were ruined. I understand some of our vets need dogs after being in combat and they should be allowed but the rest of you, leave your dogs at home while you shop or clean up after them. read more

Great location!! Park at the side of the store by Costco gas instead of in front, it gets overly crowded. Employees at this location are super friendly and an elderly woman who I believe to be the manager is almost always by the entrance to greet everyone. Been here 3 times and all times had a long line to check out, but they try their best and you can't blame everyone for wanting in on the awesome deals and coupons!!!! read more

I came here to buy some arts and crafts for my nieces because I was going to babysit them. Michael's has many things that kids and adults can do in their free time. I love their selection of scrapbook supplies, especially their Martha Stewart collection. This Michael's has a computer screen telling you which line to go to as you wait, so it makes the line move faster and efficiently. That's a plus! This store is located at the District in Tustin. The Michael's sign was not lit when I was trying to find it so it was kinda hard looking for it. It would be nice if it were on haha. Other than that, this store is great and I will come back here for my art supplies. read more

I love Michael's! Great place to come to for arts and crafts materials. Fairly organized inside so you can find things pretty easily. Custom framing: I brought in an art print I had rolled up for over a year and Alex was more than helpful and enthusiastic about getting it framed. I knew very little about framing artwork and she was informative and persuasive. I've worked retail and there's no doubt that I had been up-sold in this transaction (2 mats and the acrylic glass) but I don't feel duped or manipulated; this peice turned out amazing and I'm so glad I listened to Alex's input. She was patient and willing to show me all the possible outcomes (combos that I would have never thought of but elevated the piece). Love it; I've gotten so many compliments! read more
