Coolant antifreeze level - low
John W.

As is the case with most car repair shops - you have to wait until you notice you are being misinformed or even completely frauded by the service! Despite the fact they may treat you nicely and be courteous, you may not be getting the service you need if you just trust them. I simple key is when you take you vehicle in as I did and had an oil change and a tire rotation. The shop indicated to carmax that they serviced the oil change and tightened the lug nuts! No mention of tire rotation! But the real kicker was they came back with a $2400 in needed service. Like some corrosion around the battery posts, recommend a new battery $325, Went to Autozone to check - battery is fine. Front Brakes are at 2mm or maybe 3mm. recommend change brakes and rotors BOTH front and back $1500 - Went to Big Brand and had brake check Front 6mm, back 7mm. Replace dirty cabin filter and dirty engine air filter - $40 - I doubt they checked the cabin filter as they have to open the glovebox in the car - the engine air filter was almost new! Brake fluid was a little low - the manager indicated they DO NOT TOP OFF - they only do complete service ? $90. Coolant/antifreeze system low $130 - Again they DO NOT TOP OFF only complete service. ON top of that they generally charge you twice the cost of parts that you can get at the local parts stores. If you blindly trust any repair shop this is what you can expect! When you get a horrendous list of things wrong with your vehicle, especially if you maintain it, it is in your interest to get a second opinion. Repair shops count on you to trust them and you may think they are doing right by you until you find that they are not! I believe you often times are told they are doing things they actually do not do. Have you ever had a brake job and been told 12 months later you need another? Chances are your breaks were ok before and they lied to you and did nothing. I personally had a TPMS tire pressure gauge go bad and bought all four at the part store at a considerable savings and had Midas install them. a month later I had another failure and again about another month later. I went to discount tire and paid $80 for each instance to get them replaced.... they were NEVER put in by Midas - only the one that had failed and they other three were verified by Discount Tire as being the original parts. I went to Midas and complained and obviously they KNEW they had defrauded me and gave me a credit for in store purchases of $280. I plan to use my credits on the simplest and most verifiable repairs like an oil change until my credits are gone and then I will be gone! BEWARE!

They are very efficient and professional auto mechanics. I would definitely use their service againread more

I can say we will never take our car here again. We have been getting only smogged here since we…read moremoved here 9+yrs ago, because they were know for the $9.99 smogged, came in today after they got my car in the system the ladies upfront said it was $19.99 now plus tax which was weird because the stack of cards they have at the register says $9.99 smogged and oil change, had I known I could have gone somewhere near me.The male Hispanic manager came in greeted me when I was already at the front desk talking to the Girl up front, He asked me what I needed I said just a smogged and I've dealt w him before w our other cars so I know how he works he likes to upsell and look into stuff that wasn't asked for. What was weird was he asked me for my zip code? Keep in mind being there several times never once he asked for that so that's a little suspicious why? I think being a female and they check ur zip they can try to sell u stuff, as expected he came in try to tell me can I show u something ur motor mount is cracked I said ok I'll let me husband know his a mechanic for over 20+yrs he works on all our car, then he came again said about some oil engine spill bs I said ok again I'll let my husband know and he walked away not even getting halfway to me, Again as female beware going in by ur self know ur car and what it needs, if you are going in specially for smog oil change etc let them know that's all you need and nothing else. The price estimate print out that they said I needed was ridiculous amount, talking about some mounts that was gonna cost me over $1500 work lol, sorry sir my husband will do it himself. After reading the yelp and Google reviews pls beware! I would never ever come back to this place again also who ever worked on smogged is very unprofessional left my driver side door panel dirty as hell w grease all over the panel !!! ! Any professional mechanic will know not to leave a mess in a customers car so pls Beware people make sure you keep an eye out on your car even for such a simple service because they can be doing something to your car so they can make money of you specially if you know nothing bout cars.

I came into USA Auto Service for a squealing noise that only happens when my AC is running in hot…read moreweather. To be fair, they did attempt to replicate the conditions, and I chose not to proceed with a full diagnostic at that time because I initially wanted a visual inspection first. After that inspection, I was quoted $1,800 for a compressor replacement by a technician named Gary. What concerned me was the level of confidence in diagnosing the compressor as the issue without a full diagnostic. From what I understand, and based on further research, it's very difficult to definitively determine that a compressor is the cause of a squealing noise without running proper tests under load and evaluating related components like the belt and tensioner. To be clear, I did decline diagnostics initially, but I was still reassured that the compressor was the issue, which didn't feel like a fully supported conclusion. I also looked into pricing, and while compressor replacements can be expensive, most estimates I found for Las Vegas are generally in the $700-$1,200 range (with some variation depending on the vehicle). That makes the $1,800 quote seem on the higher end, especially without a confirmed diagnosis. Part of me speculates if the high quote may partially due to me being a woman, however, I can't confirm this suspicion to be true. I did not move forward with the repair and will be getting a second opinion. I would recommend others ask for a full diagnostic and possibly a second opinion before agreeing to major repairs. After more research I'll be trying Busy Boots for the second opinion, as they have higher yelp ratings.
