    I was a helicopter mechanic for 9 years, and I'm currently a mechanical engineer. Don't go here if you're worried that a mechanic will try to take advantage of you, because this store will if they think they can get away with it. This is what a $125 diagnostic gets you. For anyone that doesn't know, Alldata is just a search engine. I came in with my check engine light on and a P0126 code. I already knew the code, and already knew it was probably my thermostat, I just wanted a more thorough diagnostic. The "report" they gave me is just a printout of Alldata results; a print out of potential causes which I already knew. There's no evidence that anything else was done. When I asked for a diagnostic report, I got a haphazardly printed out search and deer-in-the-headlights look. The three things listed here are basically the thermostat, thermostat housing, and temp sensor. They quoted me at about $1200 to replace all three and do a coolant flush. Here are all the problems I have with that: 1) The code was most likely from either the thermostat or the temp sensor. A multimeter check could have ruled out the temp sensor. A coolant temp reading could have pinpointed the issue. They did neither of those, and instead tried to convince me to replace all three parts because they assumed I didn't know any better. 2) I couldn't figure out why the manager kept over explaining to me that the thermostat and water outlet (ie thermostat housing) were two different parts. Yes, I know that.... Then I realized it's because he was trying to charge me double the labor hours. He was trying to charge me labor hours for replacing the thermostat, and then charge me again for replacing the housing - the part you have to remove to get to the thermostat. He was over explaining because he knew what he was doing was disingenuous. I can replace the thermostat myself, but was willing to pay to have it done because I don't have much spare time at the moment; all they had to do to earn my business was treat me with respect and perform the diagnostic that I paid for. Instead, they phoned in the service and then took every available opportunity to squeeze money out of me, both through unnecessary work and through double charging me labor hours because they thought I didn't understand the next higher assembly structure. We all know that chain mechanics are usually a rip off - this is a perfect example of why. How many other people have they charged $1200 to replace a thermostat? This was a really exceedingly simple repair. If they phoned in my diagnostic, I promise you they'll phone in yours too.

Carlos saw that I rode in on a donut tire and got me in quickly. After my tire was replaced Sean educated me that they checked my other 3 tires and wanted to just let me know that they were getting close to bald. Sean mentioned a buy 3 get 1 free deal for new tires. At first I wanted just the one but he gave me an estimate of the mileage left on my other tires and I felt like his idea was out of the best interest of my vehicle; not like how other places throw random things like air filter and windshield wiper replacement for a gouged price. This place rocks. Genuine people, very friendly and professional customer service, and efficient work! If you're limping on a donut tire come here for a solid deal and solid people!

    I have been using Firestone for years, and despite a few hiccups...trusted them. I had a dive…read moretrip planned to San Carlos Mexico, so I took time off work to make sure my car was ready for the trip. I made an appointment on July 10th @1300 to get my car checked. I arrived, was waited on and sat for two hours waiting for my car. Josh came over at about 1530 and told me my car was all good. I said "really?...the battery was checked, hoses etc"? (I noted my car was sitting where I could see it almost the whole time I was waiting...) Yep all checked, and good to go -I was told. I asked Josh what I owed....nothing. Also no paperwork to show what had been done. I trust the car professionals to do the right thing. My battery died in Mexico, and when the lovely people at Autozone in Guayamas popped the cover off my battery, the enclosed pictures are what I saw. I was FURIOUS. On what planet is THAT BATTERY in acceptable condition. I get back from Mexico and go to Firestone to ask WTF. Josh was there and I showed him the photos, and watched him tap dance around their procedures. I said " My concern...Josh...is either some one did not check the battery at all, and I was lied to, or there is a service person who is quite inept at his or her job. This was not a mistake........this was a decision" Josh finally acknowledged the battery was not in good working order....and....offered me .....a free oil change my next visit. A free oil change. There will be no next visit. My relationship with Firestone has gone bad....just like the battery they said was good to go.
