The whole outdoors was booked for an event, that was scheduled to happen in an hour, so we squished in at the window bar seats. Their spirits are tasty with a good selection of flavors. Their cocktails and slushies(POG is the most popular) however are nothing special. The prices are very reasonable though. Midtown Spirits is located across the street from the Truitt Bark Park. We went for brunch and it was busy. I only saw street parking, but we did not have any problems finding a spot. This has quickly become my favorite brunch spot in Sac. Seems like it started as a neighborhood hidden gem but I'm afraid the word is out because it gets really busy on the weekends! We try to get there right when they open to avoid long lines. You order at the bar and they have indoor and outdoor seating. They're located across the street from the dog park so there are usually some cute furry friends on the patio. I usually order the ube mochi pancakes which are served with caramelized condensed syrup and toasted coconut (no syrup needed) and the midtown plate which includes longanisa, spam, bacon, eggs and hash browns. I get a side of garlic rice to eat with those delicious meats. Everything I've tried has been great. I had heard great things about this restaurant and decided to come in and try it for myself. I started out ordering the white linen drink. The drink had midtown gin with cucumber, lime juice elderberry liquor with a splash of soda over ice. This was a refreshing and very flavorful drink. For appetizer I ordered the chicken lumpia with the sauce. The chicken lumpia was cooked to perfection and the sauce was the perfect combination with lumpia. The lumpia was very delicious. Visited on a Saturday night, and my boyfriend tried The Patrick, which was sweet and tasted just like a Jolly Rancher. I went for the Hawaiian POG slushie--super tasty, though I couldn't really detect the alcohol (which could be a good or dangerous thing, depending on how you look at it!). The bartenders were attentive, and our drinks came out quickly since both were on tap. I was a little disappointed that they had run out of the Ubelada slushie because of its popularity. I also tried a pineapple chili vodka shot, which leaned more on the tart and spicy side rather than sweet. At $11 for a single shot, I found the price pretty steep, especially considering you can buy a whole bottle for around $30 (buyer beware). Saw this place on Yelp and all the beautiful food pictures got me excited, I just had to check it out! This is located across from the dog park, close to Safeway and the ramen shop there. There are only street parking, or you can park in the Safeway parking lot and walk there. There are seatings outdoors and indoors. The ordering process was canteen style. So you order from the counter, get your drinks, and a number. You sit anywhere you like, and they'll bring out your food. We got a POG drink, some lumpias, ube pancakes, and the midtown breakfast plate. The POG drink was good. I love the straws they use, made from agave fiber so it doesn't get soggy and is environmentally friendly. The lumpias were definitely pretty and skinny, but good. I wish they had some spicy sauce though lol. The ube pancakes were aesthetically beautiful and delicious. It tasted like mochi dough but it was not as fluffy as i had expected. The addition of Filipino food is what really that peaked my interest. Sadly, it was a letdown. The Hela Loco plate was a tad expensive for something simple. The restaurant overall had a nice atmosphere and vibe, the outdoor seating was nice even though the tables were limited and it was first come first serve we were able to find a table. We claimed one the minute a party left, and a waitress came to clean it up right away for us to use so that was nice. The food was... okay lol I'm Filipino myself and I love chicken Tocino. UBE PANCAKES! Bomb. Delicious ube flavor with a perfect mochi consistency topped off with fruit, coconut, and tasty condensed milk syrup. They tasted just as good as they looked! Definitely the most photogenic pancakes I've ever had haha. & you know it's really good when you eat the whole thing but it could've definitely been shared with another person. I also tried the Hawaiian POG slushie it was yum & had me dreaming of the summertime. I enjoyed Saturday brunch here. The staff and overall vibe very chill and laid back. Its first come, first served. So def glad we agreed to meet up early at 10am which meant all the street parking up front to choose from and first dibs on tables which was great for our large group. You order both drinks and food upfront at the bar. They make your drink right there and then give you a number stand to bring back to your seat yourself table so they know where to bring your food to. Everyone's food came out pretty fast and the service was great. Also didn't feel rushed to leave like other brunch spots so that was much appreciated. I'm genuinely bummed to write this, as Midtown Spirits was one of my favorite spots for years. I've been a loyal patron since they opened, and I've always had good experiences. Unfortunately, things went downhill during my birthday celebration there yesterday. There were 12 of us in total, and when we politely asked for a few extra seats from the tables that had empty spots, the staff member on duty told us, "No, you have enough seats, and we have more people coming in." Even when I explained it was my birthday, he still refused to accommodate us. Later in the evening, during the bingo game, they allowed one of the regulars to win despite not following the rules. When we pointed this out to the staff, they responded by flipping us off and accusing us of stealing seats, which was completely uncalled for. I've never felt so mistreated, especially after bringing in a decent-sized group to support the business. I'm not leaving this review to get the place shut down but to hopefully help the staff understand the importance of treating all customers with respect, especially loyal ones who keep coming back. read more

I heard so many good things about Midtown Spirits that I had to come out and try it for myself! My sister and I came in for a late brunch on Sunday - about 2pm. The inside is fairly small for dine in but good thing they have the "outside patio". The set up to order is a bit awkward. You walk in and order right up at the bar for food and drinks. I asked for the POG slushie and I was told that they didn't have anymore. So I went with the jalapeño margarita slushie. The jalapeño flavor and smell was there, it was almost too strong for me. I was not a fan and ended up wasting the drink and getting a new one. I went back and ordered their Dole Whip slushie just to be even more disappointed. It was way too strong on the alcohol and the pineapple flavor was not there. My sister had their mangonada slushie and it was delicious - strong but sweet and tangy. I later heard the bartender say that their POG was being made again, which I was irritated about because had I known that I would have waited rather than ordering 2 other drinks. As for their food, it was good but very overpriced. The breakfast musbui was $10 for 2 has browns, scrambled eggs and a slice of spam. It just seemed unreasonable when you compare it to the ube pancakes, which were the same price. The Ube pancakes were well worth the $10 - although the ube flavor was a little lackluster, the pancakes were fluffy and the condensed milk syrup was the perfect sweetness. We also ordered the garlic prawns and those were delicious, however the portion was so small for $16 and it was pretty standard. I wish their food menu was a bit broader and the customer service was ok. As of now, I probably would not return. read more

My girlfriend and I had late night dinner reservations over the weekend, and she came across some of the delicious treats here. So we decided to stop into Midtown Spirits a little early to check some of those things out. We arrived around 7 in the evening, took a picture of the menu code that on the front door, and took a seat inside. Once we looked over the 'Infusion' drink menu for a white, we had an idea of what we wanted but were still a little confused what an Infusion drink was. So I asked the bartended to which she replied that the Infusion drinks were hand crafted flavors, that were served either as a shot with club soda; or served together as one. The Infusion drink I had originally wanted to order, they were out of. So instead I ordered a Cucumber Lime Infusion shot w/club soda for my girlfriend, and I ordered the POG slush (Pineapple, Orange, Guava) for myself. And we decided to share the Prawn Po Boy. That POG slush and Prawn Po Boy were so bomb! The Po Boy we were pleasantly surprised with as soon as it arrived to our table, because it looked so loaded with crispy battered shrimp. And was drizzled with a delicious smelling house sauce. And that hot, crunch and tangy sandwich complimented with the tropical flavors of the icy slush were perfect. Because we were pleasantly surprised with everything so far, my girlfriend and I also had the Blackberry Margarita Sour and Peach John Daly. And those were both really good as well. I've been wanting to visit Midtown Spirits ever since I saw a picture of their ube mochi pancakes. They offer Hawaiian brunch items, which is pretty unique to Sacramento. They're technically a bar, but their food is definitely restaurant quality! They have indoor and outdoor seating. You must line up to order at the front counter, however. This was kinda slow and a line formed quickly in the small space. They should put QR code's at each table and allow you to order through your phone. They have slushies with alcohol in them! Very cool and tasty! I had the creamsicle flavor and my friend had mangonada. Now onto the food. Loco moco: hamburger patties over rice with gravy and a fried egg. Yum! The meat could've been more tender, but the flavor of everything was good. I tasted a hint of garlic. Mm! Ube mochi pancakes: deeelicious. Loved the fruit on top too. Wish it came with syrup on the side because they kinda absorbed the syrup and got dry. It was my friend's first time having this dish and she kept saying "so good!!" The portion is generous and we couldn't finish it. Breakfast fries: seasoned fries topped with cheese sauce, bacon, and fried eggs. Sounds basic, but it was delicious and perfect to share. Overall, great food, drinks, and music! I'd recommend and return. UPDATE: I dined here for dinner and the food was excellent as well! I had the braised oxtail and it was tender and flavorful. Seating located inside and covered patio. Please remember that we are crawling out of a pandemic and there is minimal staff. Literally two people at the bar and two people in the kitchen (from what I can see), so there may be a little bit of a wait. Be patient! The food comes out relatively fast after you order. The food: 1. The Bloody Mary's - They apparently have different flavors. We opted for the dill pickle that did not disappoint. 2. The Ube Pancakes - It was everything I hoped it would be! I'd definitely be back for this. Topped with coconut shavings, caramel sauce.. just all the goodness. 3. The Musubi - They are definitely making a statement with the lack of rice in this version of a "musubi". I'm not sure I'm a fan. Musubis should have rice. Not hash browns. I wouldn't get this again. Maybe if the hash browns were more crispy? No, imma need the rice. Sorry, not sorry. 4. The Midtown plate - This plate included 2 hash browns, 2 eggs, 2 spam, and 2 bacon. This plate would have been perfect if it had garlic fried rice that goes with the Loco Moco. Why are we leaving out the rice? I came here since I saw my friend come here for ube pancakes before, so we just got the ube pancakes to share for a lighter breakfast, and it was delicious! I don't care for pancakes and rarely, if ever, order them, but I had to try because they looked pretty, and actually tasted really good. Not too sweet either...the balance of flavors was perfect. The pancakes themselves were cooked perfectly, with a very slight crisp. The ube flavor is definitely there and has a hint of coconut taste in it. It's topped off with this caramel-condensed milk sauce, sprinkled with toasted coconut pieces, and fruits including strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple. The fruits gave a nice tart balance to the sweetness of the pancakes...especially the pineapple! Overall, a must-try when you come here! Today was my second visit to Midtown Spirits, and it's safe to say that it has locked in a 5 star rating from me! I absolutely loved sitting outdoors with husband and dog, listening to the overhead vibey jams and just enjoying my Sunday, it was seriously close to perfection. Without hesitation I knew to order to the Ube Pancakes and the Loco Moco, yet little did I know that they had other Filipino options like garlic fried rice and garlic longanisa - so you best believe I ordered that option as a side. Let's start with the Loco Moco: this flavorful beef patty was crowned with a perfectly cooked over easy egg, with its yolk running like a smooth syrup. The gravy that didn't over drench the dish was so flavorful, I practically scrapped every drip of gravy from my plate. This had the perfect amount of gravy. As I worked towards finishing half of my patty I was completely surprised that once I cut into the center there was a cheesy surprise, oh hello! SO, so good! Ube pancakes. If you don't order these, it might be the biggest regret of your life. The Ube and sauce ratio is perfect, this dish is not too sweet. Be sure to get every piece of fruit with every bite. My husband and I came here for some drinks and dinner last Sunday evening and first impression was the outdoor patio space is really inviting with beautiful cacti bordering the outside and the seating area is pretty spacious. Inside was smaller than we anticipated, but still there was plenty of seating at the bar, the bar top seating along the inside of the window, and at tables. Very modern industrial feel which matches the fact that they're a distillery. We were impressed with the various options of on-menu cocktails, slushies, and infused spirits. We ordered two ubeladas which were absolutely mouthwateringly delicious! I ended up ordering a second and my husband got their Negroni for his second drink. He said it was good and strong. When it came to their food options, we were a bit underwhelmed since their main options mostly consisted of meat focused and things between buns. Admittedly, we're not the majority as he's gluten free and I lean to eating vegetarian as much as possible. Nonetheless, to eat we ordered their deviled eggs and their beet salad which were both fantastic! Their deviled eggs tasted of great quality, fresh, and their Bloody Mary seasoning sprinkled on top was a tasty touch. Me and my bestie came for Brunch (9:30am-2:30pm) around 11am! It's right across the street from the dog park, we'll definitely have to come back with our doggos so we can check out that park as well.. When we arrived we were a bit confused because there was no sign that said it was self seating, so I had to ask the server and she kindly confirmed it is self seating and suggested we sit at the bar for faster service. Once we sat at the bar we were immediately greeted which was nice.. We ordered some POG mimosas which was refreshing! And then we ordered our food, Midtown Plate, Garlic Prawns, and Ube Pancakes. Everything tasted amazing! The Garlic Prawns and Ube Pancakes was our favorite out of the three we ordered. The prawns reminded me of Giovanni's shrimp truck back on the Islands.. so ono :P and the Ube Pancakes had this Mochi like texture with a carmelized, condensed milk topping, ahh soo good!! However, the Midtown Plate is something we could've made at home, but it was still pretty decent! The hash browns were the best part, the perfect crunch :) Service was great overall. Instead of having to add every little thing in a cocktail by hand, and creating a longer wait time, they actually had a lot of things pre made and on tap, minimalising the amount of tedious tasks that generally go into making cocktails. Theres outdoor seating available under a nice shaded area as well. What we got: The table each got a Midtown Plate. Comes with 2 bacon, 2 spam, 2 longanisa, 2 hash browns and 2 fried eggs. (If you're Filipino and you love your rice... you gotta order it separate!!) I'm not mad at this. It was exactly what you think it'd taste like, kinda just wish the hash browns were more crispy. The portions had me stuffed! Perfect bite: piece of the egg, hashbrown, and any of the proteins. Chef's kiss! We also shared the Ube Mochi pancakes for the entire table. To be honest, I've had better mochi pancakes but I did like the ube flavor of this. Also really glad we got one to share (between 4 people) because having one on my own would've been toooo much. If I could have one drink for the rest of my life, it'd probably from Midtown Spirits! I absolutely love this place, from the drinks to the food to the set up, they truly have outdone themselves! I went last weekend (mid-October) for brunch and it was perfect! My friend and I each ordered the POG (passion-orange-guava) slush and it literally brought us back to Hawaii! If I closed my eyes and blocked out the traffic noise, I swear I was sitting on a beach! I opted to get the garlic prawns for brunch (yes, I was going hard on garlic and shrimp at 11am) and that too tasted just like my favorite food truck in Hawaii!! I was so excited to try their slushie flight, and some were good, but I didn't like a couple of them. For the price, I feel like I didn't get much, even though I knew it would be up to luck. I visited on a Friday evening in September 2024. Both my friend and I ordered a slushie flight. We did not order food. Pros: - Friendly bartender - Not too crowded, but still nearly a full occupancy - Casual, seat-yourself environment Cons: - The flight drinks are much smaller than I expected compared to a photo I'd seen online - Both my friend and I agreed that the slushie with a pineapple base didn't taste very good Major caveat: looking through previous menus, it looks like they rotate their selection; YMMV. read more

We went to this place on a trip out to Sacramento. We were in town for a wedding and it was so fun to be able to check out a local distillery. We ordered a cold brew cocktail and also a slushy drink that was made to taste like a Dole whip. It was made with their gin and it was amazing! They do in-house vodka and gin and they do bottle it and infuse their vodka to be different flavors. I would certainly check out this place if you're in the area. They also had some food options and the servers are kind and attentive! We went on a Sunday afternoon- the vibe is very casual. Sports games on the TVs and lots of room to chill! Next time I go I want to try the banana infused vodka! I wish I could've enjoyed more than just two drinks. We did take a couple cocktails to go and enjoyed them later on at our hotel. This review is mainly just for their brunch. The drinks here are pretty good however I wouldn't recommend coming here for brunch. We got Ube pancakes to share, bf got garlic shrimp, and I got the pork belly sisig. All the food was just ok.. I had high expectations for the pancakes but it was dry and definitely looked better than it tastes. Pork belly sisig wasn't all great either. Tasted over cooked and I expected it to be prepared like how a regular sisig would be. I would come back again just for happy hour/drinks. Highly recommend the mangonada slushy which was super good. 5/5 read more
