I'm new to Tustin and we have been trying a lot of the local restaurants. I ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict and it looked good, the country potatoes were over cooked, it actually looked like they were leftovers from the day before, they Did Not appear to be cooked fresh that morning. Anyway I finished and took the 10 minute drive home. After being home for about 15-minutes I started feeling woozy, I made my way to the bathroom and just waited there. In less than 2-minutes I was vomiting, in all about 4-times, a Complete Waste of my $28.00 breakfast. That same day I sent an email to Mimi's Corporate Office, along with the store number, my servers name, the table number and the transaction number. It's been a week now and no response to my Bad Experience and getting food poisoning from my Eggs Benedict. Since Mimi's Never Cared about what happened, I decided to post my terrible breakfast experience. The entire time I was there for breakfast I only saw (4) other customers come in to eat, maybe this is why the restaurant was almost empty, maybe they Rewarm Everything to increase Profits. We went to the Tustin Location and stood in the the entry area for several minutes before being rudely greeted with an abrupt "be right with you." We almost turned around and should have. Once we were finally seated the server was in a hurry despite the restaurant not being very busy. I felt rushed so I ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich. I mean, it is an Americanized French-themed restaurant so they should be able to do the American variation of a Croque-monsieur, right? Unfortunately, no. What I ended up with is a horrible - and I stress HORRIBLE - soggy grilled cheese sandwich with a little ham and powdered sugar. Decided to skip the cooking this year for Thanksgiving and let Mimi's Cafe handle it! In short, it was the best decision we made. The fixed 3-course Thanksgiving menu was absolutely delicious. It started off with an option between 2 salads or soup. Then came the main course which included turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and cranberry sauce. Dessert was also included with a choice between pumpkin pie or pecan! Wonderful service and staff! OMG The food was sooooo delicious. Very well made/cooked with so much flavor. Way better than the Mimi's next to Disneyland. We had the Florentine Benedict and Potatoes cooked to perfection. Definitely referring family & friends. We will definitely return to this location. I haven't been to a Mimi's in a couple years, however after coming here last Sunday, I was more than impressed with the quality. It's kind of a small place but it's really cute. The dishes remind me a lot of Marie Calendars, and are good comfort food. I had the french pot roast, recommended to me by Abraham. He was very attentive and transparent about my food, and was just generally fun to talk to. If he's anything to go off, it seems like the servers here really care about the place they work at. I'm very satisfied with my visit and I will be back. I hope Mimi's comes back to its former fame, I really missed the place. read more

Mimis in general, is the same experience wherever you go. I can always expect a well stocked bakery cabinet and delicious smells of fresh muffins. Oh those muffins. I want to start by saying that my review would be a 2.5-2.7 if those options were available to me. But there was nothing so egregious about the experience to mark it as a 2, so I rounded up to a 3 star. This was my second time back post-Covid. The first time, we ended up not being seated as they wanted to put us next to a large table of very loud women that had just come from church. They were all so loud and rude, like they had never learned how to use their "inside" voices when others were around. After looking at the faces of other diners in that section who were already clearly annoyed as well, we asked to be sat on the 17th Street side of the restaurant, not the side that is closer to the Cooking Lab next door. We were told that it would be a 30-40-minute wait to sit on that side because they were short staffed. So, we walked out to try again another day. Seems like them being short staffed is a common theme in a lot of the reviews, especially since 2022. I would think that they have had 2 years to fix that. Back to today, got seated, again not on the 17th Street side, but it was much quieter and reasonable today. Got there before the church crowds. Restaurant was clean, staff greeted us and got us coffees and waters right away. Decent selection on the breakfast menu and prices were reasonable. I had the bacon, mushroom and brie omelet with crispy potatoes and a blueberry muffin. My wife had the corned beef hash, crispy potatoes, toast, and over easy eggs. Please see the photos that I took for reference. What I did not like about my breakfast was that the omelet sounded amazing on the menu. When I got it, the spinach was part of the omelet, the mushrooms were folded inside, but the 2 small bacon and the brie was only laid on the top. It wasn't really a part of the omelet. The bacon should have been crumbled up and either in the eggs themselves or inside the fold. And the brie was absolutely laughable. Two super tiny slices laid on top, none on the inside. Can you spare it? And overall, it was like there was literally no flavor to the omelet. Would it kill you to use a little seasoning? Potatoes were ok, but no seasoning. Blueberry muffin was good but microwaved to make it warm. It gave it a spongy, balloon type texture, not crumbly like you would expect a muffin to be. The toast had no butter on it and was ice-cold. The server did a good job of replacing it when we informed them, but again, no butter on it. Most places you have to ask for it dry if you want it that way. Here it seems to be the default. The corned beef hash was a good quality, but it also was cold. The over-easy eggs were spot on though. It appeared they didn't get everything on the plate at the same time before serving. They made the toast first, waited 5 minutes to put the corned beef hash on the plate, waited 5 more minutes for the potatoes to be done and then remembered to put the eggs on at the last minute. Very disjointed and not cohesive. Some warm, some cold. It seems that Mimi's has really fallen down on the overall dining quality from their glory days of being a great place to go. Super sorry to hear that as I had always considered them to be wonderful choice. But it seems that a lot of other reviewers feel the same way, just look at the ratings. Hopefully they can steer the ship back into smooth waters and make a concerted effort to be a terrific experience for diners again. Hope this helps. read more

We come here on Saturdays after hula practice, because damnit, I earned the right to eat the whole damn, delicious Carrot Raisin Muffin!
