Was looking for a good sandwich for lunch and found this place was highly recommended. Did not disappoint! I had the Italian which was VERY good. The bread is freshly made, complete with prosciutto, mortadella, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and just the right amount of oil and vinegar. I also tried the roast beef sandwich. Not as good, it was a little salty for my taste but I'm not a huge roast beef fan. It does come with a side of warm au jus sauce though! So many options for non meat eaters! I really wish we were here longer so I could try them all. While this was a bit of a drive from our hotel, it was well worth it. Ithas a small parking lot in the front, which was full when we came. Lucky we found an open spot down the road. I picked the grilled veggie, a side of fruit and an unsweet Ice tea. The sandwich was so delicious. It came with a pickle spear, Which was a great surprise. I was only able to finish 1/2 the sandwich (it was still delicious hours later) My husband chose the muffalata. He had the original in New Orleans before, so it had tough competition. He said it was delicious! He was quite impressed. What we really loved about the restaurant (besides the impeccable customer service) was how welcoming it felt. The restaurant was really cool inside with lots of local items; picked up some chocolates on our way out. This place is a fav for many in the area, and we live within a mile or so but can't go above 2 stars. We ordered a grilled chicken salad sandwich and ended up with primarily a lettuce and tomato sandwich. It did have a small piece of bacon, but the very thin layer of chic salad was pitiful. You could hardly see it and all 4 corners of the sandwich was just a big bite of bread. It tasted ok, but far from being worth the price and the hassle of parking, sorry to say. read more

What great sandwiches! Delish! I got the Reuben. Ample tender corned beef and the Swiss was thick and melty. Everything about it was awesome. He got the Caprese. A couple estate sales brought us over to east Nashville on a Saturday around noon. We were in the area & decided to try Mitchell's. We parked in the gravel lot across the street as the small parking lot in front of the delicatessen was full. The building looks fairly new, & from reading some of the other reviews it looks like they built a bigger place due to the popularity. We entered & noticed a LONG line. It was a few feet away from the door. The line moved pretty quickly as there was two girls taking orders. The menu is basically a bunch of different sandwiches. They range in price from around $6-$9. Not bad. They've got chips along the area you wait in line & a large selection of different beers on tap. Those were $4-$7 bucks depending on type & size. It looks like they've got some kind of breakfast buffet, but we arrive around noon & I think they were closing it down maybe because it had a lot of aluminum foil on it. They've also got a salad bar. I skimmed the menu & decided on the chicken Portobello sandwich, Phillip picked the Asian flank steak sandwich. The girl that took my order had no personality whatsoever. Or at least I didn't see it because she only spoke when she told me the total. If you use a credit/debit card, their system prints out a copy for you to fill out with tip & total, annoying. You can put a tip jar out if you want, but it's getting annoying that people feel they need a tip when they just show up to work. Anyway, the customer service aspect wasn't great at the counter, except for the guy calling out names for people to come get their sandwiches, he was nice enough. The sandwiches are hefty. Mine was only $6.50, so o wasn't expecting a big sandwich. They're wrapped in parchment paper, which keeps all the juices in. I'm so happy they've got a pop up napkin dispenser on each table because both our sandwiches were a little messy. Everything on the sandwich tasted fresh, from the chicken to the mushrooms & tomatoes. I really enjoyed that. I did however think that the mushrooms needed a little something more; maybe cooked with a little balsamic or something. Same goes for the chicken, I'd like it to have a little seasoning. Everything had a nice basic flavor, I was just wanting a little more to the sandwich. They've got a couple of bottles of hot sauce/sriracha that helped. Overall I enjoyed the sandwiches here. Next time I'm in the area I'll probably call in my order to pick up to avoid the line & the people that hover over your table to get it from you once you leave. read more

We went with the Italian and a bagel with lox and cream cheese. My Italian was wonderful, very filling sandwich. And my sister said her bagel hit the spot. Normally, sandwiches don't to do anything for me. But these sandwiches are definitely a notch above your typical sandwiches. First of all, all of the bread that they use is artisanal and comes from a local bakery. Everything from wheat bread, to the hoagies, taste freshly baked. They have a fairly extensive menu of sandwiches: Everything from Asian flank steak to chicken Portobello to beef and cheddar, and also a loaded Italian sandwich. For instance, The Italian sandwich has mortadella and soppresatta along with homemade pickled vegetables, provolone cheese, and balsamic vinegar. There's probably a couple other things in there too. It was packed full and had a good savory bite. The Asian flank steak sandwich was very good. The turkey avocado was decent, but not my favorite. Chicken Portobello was perfectly fine, but just did not have the same savoriness as the other sandwiches. Most of the sandwiches range from 6 to 8 dollars. It's a little on the pricey side for sandwich type of food, but it's worth it. The parking lot in front of the restaurant is tiny, only spaces for eight cars. Two doors down there's a parking lot behind the pub. You can enter from McGavock or also from Riverside (across from Dose coffee house). read more
