We ordered a 24 piece sashimi platter and an eel roll for delivery at around 6pm on Sunday. It was the AFC Championship game that night so we gave them the benefit of the doubt when the estimated delivery time was 7:15pm, an hour and 15 minutes after ordering. Around 7:20pm we called and asked for a quick update and the restaurant said that the delivery guy left about 20 minutes ago. We called back around 7:30 and the restaurant said they would call the delivery guy and see where he was. We ended up receiving our food around 7:50pm almost 2 hours after we ordered. The food itself was good. The sashimi pieces were decently sized with a variety that you would normally expect including salmon, red tuna, white tuna, red snapper, and yellow tail. The eel roll came in 6 pieces and weren't rolled with too much rice. The order came with a side of rice and miso soup. While we were eating we found a small piece of plastic in the sashimi that might have been a piece of the saran wrap used to cover the fish in their fridge. Luckily we didn't eat it. Overall: We would probably recommend ordering from a different sushi place next time especially if you want your food relatively quick. read more

Nothing was terrible about Mizu Sushi, but I was thoroughly unimpressed. The sushi was fine, but not as good as sushi I have gotten at other locations for the same price. The non-sushi items were especially disappointing. The tempura seemed like it had been frozen. The Udon soup was mheh. I also couldn't help but notice we were the only people in the restaurant and it is not atypical for the restaurant to be empty or have 1-2 customers when I walk by, even at what I would assume are peak hours. read more

So there's something that's good and then there's something that's Baltimore good. This definitely falls in the latter category. I dropped in for lunch one day and got the lunch box with chicken katsu and a BMW roll. The BMW roll is definitely a decent roll and was a decent size as well. The katsu was good, but not great - the fried portions were just a bit soggy. I also happened to try the beef teriyaki which was a touch on the dry side. The place is not so different from any other run of the mill Japanese restaurant in the area, but it does offer a nice ambience in a decent location. Since Brother's Sushi is closer to me and they have a solid happy hour as well as comparable food, I'll probably be heading back there instead. On the side note, they seem to be great for delivery and pick up based on the traffic I saw. I must admit though that I am indeed a sushi snob and thus all my sushi reviews are probably a bit on the tough love side. Live long and prosper. read more

I have driven by Mizu Sushi plenty of times going the Shell gas station on Fleet street here in Baltimore. So I decided to check them out for lunch today. I got their shrimp tempura bento box. It was meh at best. The sushi was extra small, and you only get two peices of shrimp, which had very little flavor. I would say the best thing I tried was the mini gyoza. It also came with miso soup with some micro pieces of tofu in it and a small salad. The bento box was only $11, so I guess you get what pay for. However in my opinion, it doesn't cost much to make food taste good. Even though I haven't tried their other food options, I can't recommend this place. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Mizu on Labor Day Monday, so it happened that we were the only ones in the restaurant. Because of this, we got to talk with the owner a lot about the restaurant. He's an incredibly warm and friendly person, so that definitely enhanced our experience. To start, we split the steamed shumai, which was delicious. For dinner, we ordered the Sleeping Beauty and Spicy Girl roll. They were both delicious, but I'm not sure it was entirely worth the price since they were rather expensive. For $14/$15 a roll, I would have liked to see more included in them or have them at least be bigger. To make this sushi meal extra special, my boyfriend and I ordered a third roll, but we didn't order off the menu. Instead, we asked them to just make something special for us and the sky was (pretty much) the limit. That roll was absolutely phenomenal. They even shaped it into a heart for the two of us. All of the classics are great - spicy scallop is my favorite. There are some unique and delicious specialty rolls - green lady and BMW are my favorites. I also love the spicy kani salad. There are some wonderful party platter options for groups. I have been to the restaurant, which is small but well staffed with good service. Don't forget to BYOB if you want drinks. We ordered $61 worth of sushi with 2 sides of mayo sauce. The woman calls me to add $3 onto our order because we asked for extra sauce. The order took an hour and 10 minutes to get here. After the driver calls me 3 times to say he's out front, then he had to move his car because there is not parking in front of our work. When I go outside there are 2 cars that are parked out front, but he can't park his car for 45 seconds with flashers to run our food inside. The food was alright but after waiting an hour for sushi it didn't seem at it's freshest. Plus the 5 rolls we ordered were not labeled! Very hole-in-the-wall sushi joint. It's run by Chinese people, but the sushi is good. There are only 4 or 5 tables, and they're never full. This place seems to be a place for delivery or takeout. I've had both delivery and sit-down. The quality is surprisingly good! The ratio of fish/meat/veg to rice in rolls and nigiri is very generous, which is a nice surprise. This is my favorite sushi in Baltimore by far (except maybe Azumi, but that's not really a far comparison). Some of my favorite things: Mermaid roll, dinosaur roll, CLEAR SOUP (it's soooo yummy!!), crunch spicy roll, avocado salad. Love this place! Went on a wed night. Brisk carryout business but quiet in the restaurant. Maybe due to small dining room caveats? There were two other tables occupied, one was occupied by older man and young boy being tutored in the fine art of chess. The other table was the young mans mother. Very intimate and cozy feel. The sushi we had was above par. I had the sashimi and the fish was super high quality. I also had the miso soup and the steamed vegetables was a generous plate of perfectly steamed assorted fresh veggies served with a soy dipping sauce. Rolls were nice with focus on the fish and not rice. Highly recommend!! The only "negative" comment is the server picked up my soup before getting an answer whether I was finished or not. For $65 we got a tiny amount of food. The specially rolls were approx. $15 a piece with about 7-8 small pieces each. It was pathetic. Each time we order different special rolls but the fish is always fresh and the flavors are always interesting. The prices are high than the others and the quality is a bit better than the other local places, but you don't get a lot of food for your money. Restaurant seems clean and the staff is pleasant. Last time we ordered they fought with us over the phone about what one of the dinner specials came with, regardless of their menu clearly stating that the soup, etc. came with the order. read more

The sushi as well as cooked entrees have been reliably excellent. I truly appreciate the appropriate use of rice on their rolls, allowing the fish to shine. Also, when eating at the sushi bar it was great talking with the owner, who was preparing my food. He is very pleasant and puts a lot of passion into his food.
