Because it was closer than Sam Woo and I didn't know what to eat, I decided to stop by to grab lunch. The fact that there were people waiting for this place made it seem legit until I tasted it myself. Just looking at all the bbq duck/pork already makes salivate. There is one thing that is good about this place and it is their price. $5.99 + tax is pretty a good deal considering how much rice/veggies/proteins they give you. So i got the Duck and Cha Siu. I might have to say the Cha Siu might have been the worst I ever had in my life. I couldn't get over their nasty sauce that they poured all over the rice. In all honestly, I wanted to throw it away when I took the first bite of the Cha Siu but I toughed it out considering how much food I be wasting if I had done so. The sauce was really peppery and it was overly salty. It's okay to be salty but the peppery taste that really didn't go well w/ the Cha Siu KILLED it for me. Not to mention, that sauce was all over my rice...so even when I wasn't eating Cha Siu, there was that taste to it. The Cha Siu itself wasn't good either. It was really tough and hard to eat and don't forget that nasty sauce. I would say that their duck is actually decent. It also feels like there is more meat than the ones at Sam Woo. It is a tad oversalted but not a big deal. I really don't get how this place can be so high rated especially if you had tried the Cha Siu. I seriously consider the 1 star. read more

This store has a very serious problem of cheating customers, seriously falsifying the weight of food, and the attitude is extremely bad. This afternoon, my wife and I went to the HK2 supermarket to buy vegetables, because this store happened to be inside the supermarket, so we decided to buy a rose soy sauce chicken. When weighing the weight, the owner's husband picked up the whole chicken almost before putting it on the scale, and then told me that it was 4 pounds. After getting the chicken, cut it up and put it in a box, put it in a bag and hand it to me. Because my wife just bought meat in the meat area next to this store, I went to find her with the chicken I just bought. Based on my hand feeling, I really thought it should not be as much as 4 pounds, so I borrowed the electronic device from the meat area. Weighed to be sure, and the results left us dumbfounded. The original 4-pound chicken, plus the chicken box, the two boxes of onion ginger sauce and the packaging bag, should be much larger than 4 pounds, but the electronic scale showed that it was only 3.3 pounds. Even the butcher was shocked. Yes, he kept shaking his head. Then I double-checked the invoice and yes, it was indeed charged for 4 lbs of chicken.We had no choice but to go back to the owner of this store. We told the boss the truth and wondered why a 4-pound chicken became 3.3 pounds. Unexpectedly, the boss's attitude was extremely bad, even very impolite, and he said loudly to us that it was your own problem, and you didn't ask for a whole chicken. My wife and I were stunned. This is obviously illogical. When they weighed a whole chicken, we paid for a whole chicken. Why did we not say that we wanted a whole chicken. The boss then said impatiently, don't you just want chicken wings, feet, and necks? You didn't tell me just now. My wife and I suddenly understood that when the boss was cutting the chicken, he secretly took these parts away, and he secretly took them away without asking us whether we need to keep these parts. I replied, you didn't ask us, how did we know that you would take these parts, because the concept of normal people is that I bought a whole chicken, paid for a whole chicken, and got a whole chicken. Chicken, unless you specifically asked me if I needed to remove the parts and you didn't charge a penny for taking them.Unexpectedly, the boss's attitude was very impatient, so he ordered her husband with a very contemptuous attitude to pack their parts in small bags. After packing, the boss threw the bag directly in front of my wife and me. This kind of behavior is simply extremely disrespectful to customers. What drives their souls is too hard to imagine how human morality can have no bottom line. It is obvious that I stole the customer's things by myself, but I can still show such arrogance and no regrets. I can only say that people are doing it, and the sky is watching. Absolutely horrid. Went here cause of the good reviews but Yelp failed me. I didn't mind the dirty and disgusting food counter, I figured it was authentic and wasn't worried about it. I was worried when they served me Peking Duck and Crispy Pork COLD! How long had this been sitting out? Why couldn't they have served me food from the display case that looked hot and tasty? I got terrible food poisoning after and was sick all night. It's a shame cause there is not many places like this in the area. I found this place on Yelp as I was in the area and was craving some Bbq Pork and can't find this type of place in Ontario. Service was absolutely terrible. I waited in what I thought was some type of line only to have them motion me to order at the register. This place can be hit or miss. The first time the wife brought back some BBQ from this place for lunch, I thought it was the greatest thing ever. 2 item combo consisting of BBQ Pork and Crispy Roasted Duck over white rice and a bed of greens. Seriously when this is on, nothing else compares. But the last time we went here which was last week, the food wasn't good at all. Not sure if it was the time of day (4pm) you know, that awkward hour way after lunch but not quite dinner yet. The duck hanging by the window looked more Hugh Hefner than Donald Duck. Dried and wrinkly but with no plans as where to eat, we decided to once again get the 2 item combo. Same BBQ Pork and Roast Duck for me. Once we got home, I opened the lunch container only to find something that looked like someone's left over lunch from yesterday. I'm not even sure the duck I got came from one duck. Yikes!! We managed to eat a little over half of it and the rest went in the garbage. Having a weak spot for Roast Duck and being so far away from the SGV is never fun so I'll probably come back here again. But not something extraordinary. As main advantage for this location, there is no HK Style BBQ shop around such high density of restaurant area. You have to travel more than 10min to SamWoo, or Four Season. BBQ Pork - its moist, but more flavor will be better. Sausage - good combination of salty and sweetness. Intestine - something I might not order anytime soon, because it's a bit too fatty. Taste is good, but the fat within the wall is not wash thoroughly. Fast forward to 2015 and I'm driving around Rowland Heights around noon looking for a place to eat. I searched "roast duck" on Yelp and MK BBQ popped up. Situated towards the back of a grocery store, this place is a great find! I had the roast duck and roast pork over rice. Delicious! There's not much of a seating area but I was able sit down at a (food prep) table and enjoy this awesome lunch. Portions were okay but they could have shown more love. I probably should have mentioned I'm part Chinese, maybe they would have hooked it up, LOL. Overall, great stop in, I highly recommend it. This place is so far the best HK style bbq in the area, located in the supermarket's bbq section. I got the three-item combo for around $7, and it tastes great! So I was looking on Yelp for "Hot and New" eateries near me using the filter and MK BBQ popped up. I do love gold Chinese BBQ and I just kept putting it off until today. Like most other reviews mention, MK BBQ is located near the back of the HK2 market. The BBQ meats look really nicely prepared. I ordered 2 of the 3 items on rice ($6.99). My first box was BBQ pork, roast pork, and roast duck. I ordered another box for my mom with BBQ pork, roast pork and soy sauce chicken and a pound of their honey BBQ chicken wings. My 3 items on rice was packed with some perfectly steamed rice on he bottom, sliced BBQ pork that wasn't overly fatty and not too lean that it is dry, sliced in good sized slices. The roast duck was well seasoned with five spice and anise the first two end pieces were a bit boney but it got meatier the last couple pieces and the roast pork belly, it was perfect, the skin was crispy and thin which reminded me of suckling pig. It came with couple pieces of broccoli and they ladled the sauce from the BBQ pork over the rice, such a comforting and delicious meal and such a great value, another place to get Chinese BBQ from besides my usuals of Leung Kee or Seafood Village.
