The first time I tried MK BBQ I was obsessed with their roasted duck and soy sauce chicken flavor and the way they chopped the meat. I had it at a party and they bought from MK BBQ. However I came here to buy the meat deli for Chinese New Year and the meat was disappointing. Maybe it's because of the holiday crowd and the rush that the meat and the way they chopped it wasn't high quality. Regardless, everyone enjoyed the meal and that's all that matters. It was hard to find, this place is inside the supermarket all the way to the end close to the meats and seafood area. The wait is usually long but quick - not for Chinese New Year when I waited for 2 hours! It was good but maybe not worth the wait during the holidays. read more

We go to this place whenever we are in the neighborhood. It was always good when they were inside of the supermarket. We ordered a whole roasted duck & some BBQ pork as usual today. After we got home and started our dinner, we realized our order was made of scraps of the leftover from the lunch specials. There was almost no big breast meat, and mostly were the thin rib pieces. There were two wing pieces pretending to be the legs, which barely had much meat. There were many neck pieces. I'm guessing this "duck" must had a supper long neck. We finished everything, but didn't feel like we ate much. My husband later mentioned that he didn't see the guy grabbing a duck from the window. They lost us as customers for sure, but I'm sure they don't really care. BUT if that's how they do their business, karma will get them. read more

Got some to go for early mother day , and was pleasantly surprised with all the food. Your hidden mom and pop shop nestled away inside HK District which is a grocery store/food plaza. Just in case you have trouble finding this stall, its all the way in the back of the grocery market. They have all the Chinese BBQ goodies like Roast Duck, Soy Sauce Chicken, Roast Pork, Intestines, Liver, and more! All marinated with subtle but good flavor! I do have to admit that I feel like their pricing is a tad bit more expensive than other places I frequent, and they charge by the pound. It's located in the back of a supermarket and best if you speak Chinese. Don't expect great customer service. I was completely lost finding it, and the supermarket staff literally rolled her eyes at me. The cashier who took my food order wasn't sympathetic that I don't speak mandarin. I got a half chicken and had to use hand gestures and creative ways to explain how I wanted it cut. The chicken was ok but I like their competition (TastyBox) better. They claim they're cheaper than Tasty but my chicken set me back $13 and the sauce was sweet. The chat siu was ok. Not tender and also the sauce was syrup like sweet. This is a review for their service. 4 stars for their food. We're their long term customers since 2015. So we felt very happy for them that they now have their own café location, and it's no longer in the back of the supermarket. Even though now we reside in the OC we still come here for their BBQ. They have two lines, one for takeout one for dine in. I opted in for dine in today because there are over 20 people waiting in the takeout line. When I sat down, I asked the server how long it would take if I wanted to order the barbecue from the front counter, he said I would have to wait till all 20 people, that were supposed to be ahead of me to get all their orders before I could get mine. So, what is the point for having a nicer location where there is dine in option if all you serve is take out customers? read more

Located inside a grocery store. All the way in the back. It's a hidden gem! I got the 2 item combo, crispy pork, crispy duck with rice and it has a side of broccoli. For only $8. The crispy pork was really crispy! And the duck too was very tasty. Most of the time when you go home the crispy pork becomes stretchy and rubbery. This one stayed crispy. I love crispy pork. Since they have their own dine-in restaurant, the price went up. Still doing take-out of old menu with rice and bbq meats but with quite noticeable reduction of quantity. Very disappointing. I usually go there for the roasted pork, roasted duck and the wings. Those are very delicious, especially the roasted pork. The prices by lbs or half/full have gone up a lot in the last year. I won't go as often anymore. The prices for the rice and meat have been pretty stable. read more

Terrible attitude. Tried to call see if I can reserve a roast duck and chicken for Chinese New Year. While I was talking to a lady who speaks Mandarin, another lady who speaks Cantonese took over the phone said a bunch of stuff. I only understand a little bit of Cantonese so I was going to repeat what she said to make sure I understood her correctly. She wasn't patient enough to let me finish and said bye bye then hang up the phone. I can understand your busy for Chinese NewYear, but this is not an excuse for bad attitude. One of my favorite spots for Asian BBQ, it's a true gem! Located inside the HK2 Market, they are known for their Asian BBQ, roasted duck, pork, soy sauce chicken, etc. My family usually comes here for any dinner party and such. I would highly recommend calling at least a day before if you're heading into a major holiday. I also love coming here for lunch. They have a $5.99 and $6.99 lunch plate which is a great value. For the $5.99 option, you can pick 1 or 2 items and for $6.99, you can pick 3 items. It usually comes with some sort of vegetable as well and a lot of rice! When I got there, I asked the lady in front if I had to wait in the very long to-go line to just pick up my online order which was already paid for. The lady in front said yes. I had to wait 20 MINUTES in line just to pick up my food which was lukewarm at that time. Why would anybody order online and have to wait in line with the customers who are ordering on the spot? As others have mentioned, the reasonable price for their combos is very misleading as Their portions are very small. I ordered a three item combo, consisting of soy sauce, chicken and two orders of the honey glaze sausage. It seems like I only received one order of the honey, glazed sausage, and half an order of the chicken. On a previous visit I ordered duck and barbecue pork. I asked for duck sauce, the one that comes in the ketchup like packets, and the owner said that they charge for that!?!? I go to this place often, but this time o found out that they have been overcharging for the meat/charging dishonestly; I bought this char siu for $30.53 at $13.99 per lb, and when I got home I weighed it myself and saw that the meat I bought was only 1 lb 14 oz (and this is including the weight of the sauce as well, they measured before pouring sauce in the store). If you do the calculations, it should be less than $30 even when considering tax. read more

It's been 85 years, well feels like, since I had char siu and roast duck. Ever since moving to SoCal, I've been researching for a meat shop that serves this. Having an appointment in Rowland heights, I knew this area would be of luck since the demographic is heavily Chinese. Research led me to MK BBQ. It's located in the back of the supermarket, right next to the Seafood department. Three choices of meat over rice was around $6.99 which is not too bad at all. I ordered the triple threat of char siu, crispy roast pork, and roast duck. Char siu- I was expecting it to be sweet but it was more salty than sweet which wasn't bad at all. Crispy roast pork - definitely crispy like it's name. My only qualm would be that it there was more fat than what I'm used to. Roast duck - duck tends to be really greasy but this wasn't at all. The skin was full of flavor. I like how they don't skimp on the sauce. My rice was drenched in it! If I come back, I'll probably buy the meat itself rather than a plate lunch. read more

They do have the best soy sauce chicken in town, but I don't go here often because they don't know how to do business. Nickel and dime with customer. Their price is not cheap compare to other HK BBQ. I bought a soy sauce chicken total $32.00. The lady said I have to buy $35 in order to use my credit card or else they charge me $1.00 fee. She said cash only if you don't want to paid the FEE! My main concerns is they are not completely comply with the covid guidelines and some people just don't want to stand 6 feet apart. Roast duck flavor has changed. We've been coming here (when it was inside HK2) for 4 years. We always get the whole duck. Few times chicken. Their roast duck taste and flavor was great. It was our go-to only place for roast duck in Rowland Ht since 2020 (prior to them it was Sam Woo on Colima for 15 years). So few weeks ago I came to them, first time since they moved to outside, to get my usual whole toast duck to-go. We arrived around 4:30pm Sunday. There was a line and the line was moving very slow, very slow. I think one of the workers (who cuts the duck) was on break. So we get our duck and bring it home and ate it for dinner. One bite, and immediately we know the taste has changed. The taste was much lighter. A lot less flavorful. It's also evident because the duck juice color was also lighter. Simply put, the taste/flavor is much worse than before. The meat itself was fine. I wonder if owner or cook is changed. So I'll be looking for a different roast duck seller. read more

I just had food delivered by Door Dash. The delivery was perfect. The order not so much. It was totally wrong. I ordered the two items for $21.83. It was the absolutely the wrong order. You are supposed to choose two items which I did, not that it mattered. I asked for roast pork and duck. I got soy chicken and chasu or honey pork. How is that remotely the same? Oh wait! Chicken and duck are both poultry and roast pork and honey pork both come from pigs. That must be it. Door Dash customer service was excellent. They refunded my money which was great. Thank you.
