Came here with parents since we haven't ate hotpot in a while and didn't know what to eat. We came on a weekday for dinner so it wasn't crowded. However, I still made a reservation online since I saw a few reviews mentioned reserving ahead of time to mininize wait time. Luckily, it wasn't full when we arrived so the reservation wasn't actually needed but it did get more full later in the night so a reservation would be helpful if you plan to eat later at night during the peak times and especially during the weekends. Anyhow, we were seated quickly and got a table with two stoves and we could use both for four people. I got the Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki broths while my parents got the Shabu Shabu and Tomato. And we got the Momo experience since it has a good assortment of meats. Our server was friendly in explaining the menu and had pretty fast service. Once we ordered the meat, they were served quickly too which was nice so you didn't have to wait long in between. The meat quality was pretty good but we noticed that the quality for the Chuck Eye got worse towards the end of our meal even though it started off really good. Not sure if that was on purpose or just a bad batch of beef but it was disappointing since it wasn't as tender and was tough to chew so I couldn't eat some of it. The broths were also pretty good. The Sukiyaki is a bit salty if you let the veggies and meat sit inside for too long so warning about that, but it was flavorful enough to not dip in sauces. I liked the Shabu Shabu more since it is more clear and not strong. Also, they have a drink section for unlimited drinks if you pay extra which I didn't opt for but they do let you order free hot tea or hot water unless you want cold water then it is at the soda fountain. Sad that they now charge for drinks. They also have a self-serve veggie bar which has decent amount of veggies and other hotpot ingredients but it is a smaller variety compared to some other all you can eat hotpots I have been to. They also have free ice cream at the end of the meal which is just 1 scoop of the flavors they have available. Nothing special. Overall, this is decent hotpot choice if you like Japanese style hotpot. The meat quality is okay but doesn't seem consistent on each platter. Also not many veggies to choose from. After trying this place, I realize I like Chinese hotpot better so I don't think I will come back here again but I guess it was worth trying.

Our kiddo is a shabu shabu aficionado and loves them all but this place by far has become her favorite and I must say mine as well. What stands out to us is the elevated level of cleanliness, detail, product, utensils, food quality... the list goes on. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming despite the huge crowd that had arrived before us for lunch. The server was equally as smiley and helpful and explained how it all worked. We had not been to a Japanese shabu shabu and it was amazing. They had the most delicious curry I've had in a while as part of their self serve appetizer and veggie bar. They also had a drink station with milk teas, bobas in diff flavors, and craft soda bar. Their meats and broths were delicious! We will be returning asap!!

First time eating at Mo Mo's. We reserved our table in advance in case there's a wait. On a Wednesday at 6:30pm, they weren't very busy which was good. Our server was pretty attentive and brought the meats out fast. Please note their tip starts at 18%. Ambiance was pretty good, with low chatters and spacious seats. Restroom was clean too. The veggie bar was adequate but did run out of items at times with no refills. They charge for drinks now except hot water, hot tea, and iced water (that comes from the soda fountain). Their meat quality is pretty good, specifically the eye of round and chuck eye. However, after a few rounds, the quality of the eye of round dropped significantly and turned tough to chew. I'm not sure what happened.

This is my second time here. Quite disappointed. Food: Everything tasted fine. The meats were thicker cuts. The vegetable bar looked very unsanitary. Everything was easily mixed together. Mushrooms were in the cabbage bin, kale were found in the tofu bins etc. The curry + rice tasted good. The soups were okay, but they were definitely lacking flavor. While eating the meats, I found a piece of plastic buried within the cuts. It was pretty disturbing on top of everything else. Drinks: The sodas tasted fine. I tried the Tokyo melon and cola. They were sweet and refreshing. Service: Our server was kind, but it seems like they're pretty understaffed. She was extremely busy, and we would have a hard time flagging her. She was speed walking back and forth most of the time. Parking: There's a free parking lot in the back of the plaza. Lots of space. Overall: Make sure you have a reservation. For around $50 AYCE, I feel like I could've had a better experience elsewhere. The workers looked stressed out/overworked. The cuts of meat were pretty thick. The AYCE bar looked unsanitary. The options were also quite less than most other AYCE shabu restaurants.

    Star student promotion

Misleading! Beware of their current star student promotion! Came for the Star Student promo. Before being seated, I specifically asked what was needed and was told only a report card and school ID. The food was underwhelming (blah), and the Wagyu experience was a disappointment. Service was great though. What bothered me was being told a photo of my child was required for the promo after we were already dining and on our second round of meat. The flyer and sign says photos MAY be displayed, not that they're required. That should be disclosed upfront.

My daughter requests this place every week. They treated her because she's a star student.. We'll be back..

AYCE place. Fresh and keep it coming! Meal time is limited to 90mins so you don't get seated until everyone in your party arrives and clock would start ticking then. My favorite soup base here is sukiyaki with chuck eye. They also provide raw egg when ask. Those eggs are huge with orange yolk. The meal also comes with a scope of ice cream to end the experience. Table, countertop and floor is clean. Servers are friendly and responsive. Covered parking in the back.

My first time at momo & wow, it is sooo DELICIOUS! They have a variety of sides you can freely grab & also a make your own sauce/grab your own drinks on the side. I love the choice of choosing between different broths. My side of the table ordered sukiyaki & tonkotsu broth. Sukiyaki is a sweeter, savory broth while tonkotsu is a creamy pork bone broth. I do prefer the tonkotsu because it match my taste buds more, but the sweeter broth was a great change and they give you broth water on the side if flavor is too strong or your soup evaporates. The sauces they offer blends so nicely with the meat. They also gives you a raw egg go stir and dip with your meat the japanese way. Meat quality was fresh & amazing, cannot complain, I had a great time! Service was friendly & they give you icecream at the end which is perfect hehe, loved it here & would definitely come again , great atmosphere, I love japanese shabu-shabu!

It's become a tradition to celebrate New Year's Eve dinner at Mo Mo Paradise with my in-laws, and this year was our first time visiting the Arcadia location. We had a 6:30pm reservation and were seated shortly after arriving, which was much appreciated on a busy NYE evening. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean, with ample free parking in the parking structure (huge plus!). Mel was our server and she was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and somehow managing five tables at once without missing a beat. She cleared our table promptly and stayed on top of taking and checking in on our order the entire time. You could tell she really cared about providing great service, even during a rush. Weekend dinner is $38.99/pp. You can also add the non-alcoholic drink bar for $3.55 per person, featuring sodas, teas, juices, boba, adzuki beans, and coffee jelly. Overall, a great experience at Arcadia vs Rowland Heights. We'll definitely be back to this location again.

Honestly this might be the best restaurant in 626 It's currently my only 10/10 on Beli. It also ruined boiling point for me Meat quality is good for base menu but if you wanna bump a 8/10 experience to 10/10 get the wagyu menu. Wagyu flavor and pasteurized egg as the sauce is mind blowing I think I've been here 3 times in the last month Also love Melissa , always treats us really well when we come !

Perfect for 4 people. Each pot has two individual slots - so you can pick your own broth.

We've wanted to try this place for awhile but never made it here. We finally made reservation and were so happy with their service, food, cleanliness, and the freshness of the meat and veggies. They even have fresh kale! Adrianna is the BEST server - she took the time to explain the menu, was so pleasant, and always had a smile on her face regardless of how busy she was. The restaurant has a 90 minute policy and they start the clock once they seat you. It's all you can eat but drinks are extra. There's no fish or seafood option. Only beef and pork. Reservation is highly recommended and all party must be present to be seated. Walk-in spots are very limited. There's a parking structure in the plaza. We will definitely come back. Thank you Adrianna for making our first experience at MoMo so pleasant!

It got full easily during dinner time, so it's better to make a reservation if you know when you're arriving. There's a parking you can enter from the back of building. We choose the regular meal option which has 5 meat options. Overall good quality! Friendly staff too.

Love this location! Adrianna was a great and friendly server. She was super attentive and quick! Brandon was also super helpful and friendly! The veggies were super fresh and always stocked up when I made a trip to the farmers market. The meat came out quick and we were completely full before we even made it to our 60 minutes.

Ask the Community - Mo Mo Paradise

What is the current prices for lunch on a weekday?

    $29.95 per person

Have they provided pasteurized eggs again or still not?

Hi! They've been out of pasteurized eggs the last few times I went. Last went about a week ago- still out

Can you dine solo or is it 2 or more only?

You CAN dine solo buuuuuut it is much harder for them to accommodate for a party of 1 during weekends or peak hours. I came in solo in a Sunday around 8:30 and there was no wait or reservation required. They DO prioritize reservations first, I… Read more

Is the shabu shabu soup vegan?

Yes. There is a vegan option

Do you offer Vegan options or cheaper price for vegetables only?

No vegan options as the options are limited. Contact the business directly to ask about pricing.

Does it need to make reservations?

It is best to make reservations otherwise you are left waiting until a table possibly open up if that happens.

Do any of their soup bases not contain gluten?

Nope. All contain gluten. I got a pot of boiling water.

Hello! do you have a vegetarian broth option?

Yes! I think there might be two options.

I'm a little confused with the menu, what is included with the base price? There's a double asterisk at the bottom corner specifying complimentary items but I don't think I saw any item with the double asterisk

Pretty much everything that's food, except the drinks. :) includes ice-cream as well!

Do you have gift certificate or card?

Yes, I believe they sell gift cards. Great present for whoever you plan on giving them to!

Does dinner ayce have better food or more options than lunch ayce?

Dinner AYCE now offers chicken and pork belly but the veggie and meatball, fish tofu and fish ball options are all the same.

I heard they charge an 18% service charge is that true?

    Yes it is true

Is the shabu shabu soup base vegetarian?

Not 100% sure but you can always get very traditional Shabu Shabu soup base which is just water and kombu (kelp/seaweed) and that is vegetarian.

Is proof of vaccination required to eat here?

yes, need to show picture of vaccination card

    Is it reservation only?

No, but highly recommend to make reservation on Yelp. Not sure about their lunch menu, but their dinner menu is AYCE & has a 90 min. time limit. If the restaurant is full, you might have to wait a while...I think they don't let you dine if it's too… Read more

Do you take walk-ins or is it reservation only?

RESERVATIONS ONLY. GOOD LUCK WALKING IN.

Hi do you have set hot pot on weekdays, non AYCE?

Yes, they have a $21.95 weekday lunch special that is non AYCE and comes with 2 plates of meat.

Do you do lunch non all you can eat on weekend?

I don't think they do. I'm here now on a Saturday for lunch and they only offered me $29.95/person all you can eat.

I'm wanting to make a reservation for 9 people, however your booking system only allows a max of 6 people. Is there a way for me to get a table for 9, or are we limited to 6 people?

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to since the tables are fixed seating. The tables have the grills built in.

Hello, I saw on TikTok that you guys do AYCE, is it true cuz I can't seem to find that info on Yelp page?

    It is ayce

The yellowtail collar was baked to perfection! What a wonderful enjoyable meal. Service was very attentive. Several staff came by to fill our water glasses, remove empty dishes, and to check on us. Thank you chefs and staffs for a wonderful dining experience.

Dating back to the 2nd Century BC; sushi was a favored Japanese cuisine far before any methods of…read morerefrigeration were yet invented. In order to keep fish fresh; rice was laden with rice vinegar and the fish marinaded in soy rice to keep the fish from spoiling (the rice was discarded and only the fish was consumed). As time went on, the art of sushi evolved to where the rice was eaten alongside the fish and during the Edo Period: this method of quickly fermenting with vinegar preventing spoiling; allowed for sushi to be served as street food without refrigeration even as the nigiri style so popular was born. If you are interested in this quick prep Edomae style of sushi; look no further than Arcadia's Sushi Kisen (which I assume is a play off the Japanese word, 'kaizen' meaning 'better, improved' so "better sushi") being one of the few Edomae sushi restaurants and Arcadia's first. Sushi Kisen offers 30-40 fish weekly shipped in straight from Tokyo twice a week! Located in a small corner shopping plaza on Baldwin Ave near the Arcadia intersection (about a mile from the LA Arboretum); the parking lot can be a bit congested as the plaza is filled with numerous restaurants, a bakery, a tea spot, etc. Crossing the threshold into Sushi Kisen reveals a medium-sized eatery with a sushi bar, wooden slat room dividers, and a dining area with tables and booths. Sushi Kisen eschews any bells and whistles in interior design for simplicity but the lines are still modern and clean to their benefit. My boyfriend and I were initially seated but quickly moved to allow our table to be used for a reservation that just phoned in; and thus, we were moved to a tiny back corner table where my I was two inches from the register and phone. This isn't awful, per se, but I was continuously becoming very friendly (metaphorically) with staff using the register and/or answering calls. It just didn't make me feel wholly welcome. For our sushi feast, my boyfriend and I ordered Mozuku seaweed ($8.00), Assorted Vegetable Tempura ($10), Deluxe Sushi Dinner (chef's choice nigiri and rolls, picked vegetables, miso soup, miso dressing salad - $45), Japanese King Mackerel Nigiri (2 pieces - $14), Unagi Eel (2 pieces - $13), Fatty Blue Fin w/ Takuan roll (12.50), and Glass Shrimp (2 pieces - $21.00). I am just going to get right into the nitty-gritty and say I simply did not like Sushi Kisen, at all. It might just be me (the restaurant was full so clearly people like it) and maybe I just don't gel with Edomae style. My favorites - the miso soup, salad, pickled vegetables and vegetable tempura - weren't even sushi! I love seaweed salad so I made the mistake of thinking this seaweed would be similar but it was a bowl of slop straight from the ocean and I found it putrid and inedible. But again, that may be my fault for not knowing. But what WASN'T my fault were my issues with the actual sushi: the glass shrimp was okay but a super weird texture and not worth $21 and would make more sense at half that price. The Japanese King Mackerel was the worst king mack I have ever had! It was grossly briny and "muddy" and tasted of poor quality even though I know it wasn't (but it shouldn't taste that way!). None of my boyfriend's Deluxe Sushi Dinner was that appetizing either and he didn't seem overly impressed. The Fatty Blue Fin roll was fine... but I truly sensed no flavor of any sort being simply bland. But at least it wasn't gross like much of the others that were not worth their price points. The eel was perfect - I am glad they didn't ruin that because I have quite the romance with eel. Again, I'll take some of the blame that maybe Sushi Kisen just isn't my preference but I think it runs deeper and they simply aren't as great as presented (which I can confirm from all of their recent reviews that share my same sentiment). Coupled with odd seating and a very disappointing sushi dinner; Sushi Kisen is simply not for me and a spot best decided for yourself whether worth a visit. To be fair, my boyfriend and I have had worse sushi so Sushi Kisen wasn't God-awful; but definitely not great, either.

Delicious, a must try! *10/10 Ankimo-- creamy and paired well with the ponzu and fresh seaweed *10/10 Fried Seabass-- they served the entire fish, which is rare. *10/10 Sous-vide Duck breast-- must try! *10/10 Nikomi stew--simple, but delicious! *10/10 Matcha Oolong Panna Cotta-- subtly sweet with a smooth texture. It was so good, that we ordered two! The only reason that I only gave it a four out of five stars is because the service was slow. All of our dishes, came out in time, but no drink refills were given and the server never came back to collect our check for payment. So we had to walk it up to them ourselves. For a small space, with three servers, it shouldn't be hard to attend to all the customers. The menu can be pricey, but food is delicious! Along with exceptional service, eating here is worth it.

The atmosphere was cozy, and there seemed to be Japanese guests (always a plus). The food was really enjoyable. We enjoyed our experience here and would definitely come back next time!

The assorted sashimi selection was also enjoyable, especially the uni and premium sashimi cuts, which had a rich and smooth texture. I also liked the wagyu beef tongue, which was tender and flavorful. The mixed tempura was light, crispy, and not too greasy. Other highlights included the uni tofu appetizer and the beef rice bowl topped with egg yolk. The restaurant has a clean and modern setting, making the dining experience comfortable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful with menu recommendations. Overall, a solid spot in Arcadia for fresh sashimi, uni, sweet shrimp, and other Japanese dishes.

We love that they do weekend lunch special, and we specifically come for that. The sushi lunch combo always includes generous, thick slices of fresh fish and a good variety. This last time, we even got a huge scallop nigiri in our combos! We also ordered a roll and an order of takoyaki to share this time around, and both hit the spot. Interior is classy, clean, and comfortable. Service can be a little slow depending on how busy it is (on a Saturday during lunch, our 3 sushi combos arrived like 15 minutes after my grandma's chicken udon), but that speaks to the made-to-order quality, so I'm not too bummed. Overall, as a sushi fanatic who doesn't like to break the bank each time we go out, this is my go-to and we'll be back every time we're in town.

I always order the Original King with extra firm noodles. I also love that they give you a customization sheet so you can personalize your ramen exactly how you like it. The restaurant is in a large mall and while there were lots of parking stalls it was quite busy and challenging to find a spot. When we got in there was a line already and so we entered the queue. All parties need to be present before they seat you. When finally it was out turn we were seated and the inside was nicely decorated. I liked the condiments and sprouts in the middle of the table. I used the sesame grinder a lot! Most of the table ordered the Original King Reamen but I had the Red King and wanted to try the Chicken Karaage. The chicken was so good! Probably one of the best I've ever had. The ramen was super flavourful and the noodles were cooked perfectly QQ. This place was bustling but felt that the service was good. Love the decor. They even give you a branded bib in case of soup splashing. Food is a bit expensive than other Ramen places but I probably would be back.

Honestly, that was the highlight of the entire experience. We visited on a Friday night around 7 PM while the Monrovia Street Fair was happening outside. Surprisingly, the restaurant was nearly empty. The space itself was clean, modern, and well-maintained. Our server was excellent--friendly, attentive, and genuinely went above and beyond throughout the meal. Easily 11/10 for service. We ordered the sashimi set, skewer platter, yellowtail collar, white roll, and dragon roll. Sashimi Set: The fish was sliced quite thin, and it didn't taste particularly fresh. To be fair, I'm not the most adventurous when it comes to raw fish, so I was only really able to enjoy the toro. That's more of a personal preference than a criticism of the restaurant, but overall the dish still fell short of expectations. Skewer Platter: This was easily the best item we ordered. The portions were on the smaller side, but the skewers had good flavor and were cooked well. Yellowtail Collar: I order yellowtail collar whenever I see it on a menu, so I have plenty of points of comparison. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst versions I've had. It was very dry and lacked seasoning. If you've ever had the yellowtail collar at Kisen, the difference is night and day. White Roll: This was a miss for us. The fish had a mushy texture and didn't taste particularly fresh. The roll itself was extremely tart, to the point where it overpowered every other flavor. It was also topped with crunchy knafeh, which felt unnecessary and didn't add much to the dish. Dragon Roll: A dragon roll is one of the most common sushi rolls out there, but somehow this version still missed the mark. The flavors were underwhelming, and once again it was topped with knafeh. At that point, I was genuinely confused as to why it was being added to everything. Overall, I'm honestly not sure why this place has such high ratings. Aside from the exceptional service, the food was disappointing across the board. Considering the quality and portion sizes, the prices felt hard to justify. Looking back, the empty dining room on a busy Friday night should have been a sign.
